HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE TO EVERYONE! Today is a FUN DAY! I usually go out to the paddock at about 7 in the morning. Now the ground is a bit snowy…and even a bit muddy in spots. When I first get turned out, I really play and run hard. It is fun to stretch my legs and all after a night’s rest. I have started to do this new thing…for me…and that is roll on my back on the ground. I did it in the snow the other day. Dottie teased me that I was making Zenyatta Snow Angels. Then yesterday…it was a bit muddy and I was able to roll in the mud! I have NEVER DONE THIS BEFORE that I can remember. It was GREAT FUN! Sarah is going to try and get to Lane’s End early to get some footage of me doing this for you. It… Continue Reading

Good Morning, It is still chilly in KY…but I am really getting used to the weather now. Horses like cold weather and do well in it. I am beginning to get a bit of a winter coat (which means my hair is growing…a natural thing to help me feel very comfortable in this climate). My dapples are still there…which is fabulous news. P.Q. (my buddy) and I go out and graze in the paddock for hours each day now…weather permitting. We are becoming great friends and really enjoying ourselves. Life in Kentucky is very nice! I am very comfortable with my new surroundings. Also, keeping in touch with TEAM ZENYATTA back home and my CA friends is a total JOY for me! There is not one day that I do not hear from them! (THEY REALLY LOVE ME!) Yesterday, Abigail Anderson wrote in and asked if John and Dottie had… Continue Reading

Good Morning Everyone, Thank you so much for the kind Holiday Greetings! It is great to hear from you. I am also so PROUD that many of you had a ZENYATTA CHRISTMAS. I am going to check out Ebay and all of the sites you suggested in your responses. This is all very interesting! To my fan, Jack,…our group LOVES MUSIC. As you may know, I am from a MUSIC INSPIRED FAMILY. I’ll have to try the Bloodhorse video with Phil Collins and Tina Turner as you suggested. Such fun! EVERYONE WILL BE DANCING RIGHT ALONG WITH ME! HMMM! That would be a fun way to celebrate New Year’s Eve! As for TANGO and FACETIME, these are ‘techie things’ one does with a phone. You call a number and do face-to-face visits via the phone. Ann and John are both really into tech/phone stuff. (It is so cute…John goes crazy… Continue Reading

Happy December 26th! I hope all of you had a Blessed Holiday with family and friends. My day was very special! I was fortunate to spend lots of time outside with my new “BBF”…BEST BONDING FRIEND, Pirate Queen. We really relaxed, grazed and enjoyed ourselves. The day was PERFECT! Donna worked with us most of the day. It was fun to spend the holiday with her and all of my new Lane’s End Farm friends. Sarah also made it possible for me to TANGO (that is a new phone thing) with Ann Moss on Christmas Eve. We have done FACETIME before…but this was the first time that we TANGOed. (I thought I’d be pretty good at this as I am known for my ‘dancing’!) It worked out perfectly…and was great fun! John tried to call Sarah to do this as well! What a great way for me to keep in… Continue Reading

HAPPY DECEMBER 24TH TO ALL, In honor of this wonderful time of the year, I wanted to share with you the new ZENYATTA LOUNGE for WOMEN. It was created for the women who work and live on the backside. It opened at Santa Anita last Sunday at 11. For years, we have had a wonderful REC ROOM for everyone to use…but the women never really had a place where they could just relax and visit. Thus, the thought was to give them a safe place where they could go and watch TV and movies, read, sew, use computer skills and in general just have fun and be themselves! The hope is that they will make new friends and share experiences with them…and in general just FEEL GOOD! Santa Anita was very generous in dedicating the space for the Lounge with its’ own private entrance. Aase Headley and Haydee Vienna worked… Continue Reading

Good Morning, I absolutely LOVE this photo Anne M. Eberhardt took the other day. Here I am with my dear friends, Mario and Carmen. I wanted to mention, just in case you did not know, Mario and Carmen are MARRIED. It is so special to share all of this with them. WE WILL BE FRIENDS FOREVER! I have spent a great deal of time with these 2 lovely people. I think I’m now OFFICIALLY PART OF THEIR FAMILY! I’ve heard that photos of ME are all over their home and in their family albums…right next to those of their children and relatives! Carmen had never been in the snow before Monday. It is so cute. When I was looking out my window, I saw them taking pictures of each other in the snow. I loved watching them! Mario has told John countless times that THE LAST 3 YEARS HAVE BEEN… Continue Reading

Hello everyone, Things continue to be very exciting here for me at the FARM. LOOK AT THIS! I did so well my first couple days in the paddock that I now have been introduced to my first BUDDY. She is in my barn and stabled right across from me. Her name is Pirate Queen. We are really doing very well together. She is gray and I am dark brown/black so it is easy to tell us apart. I am having SO MUCH FUN! Our schedule is rather nice! In the morning, we walk out to the paddock together. At that point, when we are settled into the paddock, we get ‘turned out’. (This means the shanks are taken off and we are now ‘free’.) Then we get to play, run, jog, and graze! Here we are just relaxing and grazing. I often grazed with a friend on the grass back… Continue Reading

SURPRISE, SURPRISE!! Good Morning All! What a day I had yesterday…all filled with GREAT surprises! I now know all of my friends here at Lane’s End had a wonderful surprise planned for me…and they filled TEAM ZENYATTA in on it! For days, as you know, I have been walking around in my new paddock. The Farm wanted me to be totally familiar with every inch of the area. This is all part of my ‘baby steps’ process. Each day, I was given a bit more space to investigate and explore with Charles, Donna and the crew here! They ultimately had me on a very loose hold during these adventures. I was also given ample time to look at all of my beautiful surroundings and thoroughly relax and enjoy my time outdoors. After several days of this, the FARM felt I was totally comfortable with my new paddock. A plan was then developed to establish the day when I could be ’on my own’ outside. It… Continue Reading

WELL…HOW SPECIAL IS THIS! I AM SO PROUD!!! Good Morning Everyone! Dottie and I were just reviewing the morning news and GUESS WHAT WE FOUND! The Associated Press did their review of the TOP FEMALE ATHLETES in the world…and for the 2nd year in a row…I AM #2 ! Now this is amazing…as, in reality, I am a thoroughbred race horse, so to be honored in this way is quite special! People often comment that horse achievements do not translate to other sports…or outside of racing…but LOOK! HERE I AM! I think this also means that people recognize the fact that I had to train and work hard to achieve in my sport just as a human would to succeed in his/her sport! I SO APPRECIATE THIS POLL! They had 175 people voting for this honor and ranking. Here are the top 4 per the AP: 1…Lindsey Vonn…she is a… Continue Reading
