Good Morning Everyone, It is so much fun to be starting a wonderful new week! David has been in Florida visiting Mayberry Training Center looking at the newly turned 2 year olds for the last several days. He is returning to KY soon and will be able to spend time with ME again. (My Team is always on the job monitoring ALL of us…no matter what state we are residing in at the time.) Sarah had a nice weekend off…so well-deserved…and she is back on the job today. Charles and Donna and all of my Lane’s End Friends have been here with me….sharing all of the current news. MY CA TEAM is doing well and working away with all of my Barn 55 Friends. It is so much FUN when you LOVE WHAT YOU DO…and they are having a GREAT TIME…enjoying ALL OF US! Recently, I showed you the prototype… Continue Reading

Good Afternoon, It is rather nice here in Lexington today….in the 40′s. It’s good to hear that we are supposed to have ‘nice’ weather in KY for the next several days. My CA FRIENDS mentioned that it is a bit ‘chilly’ there today…somewhat gray and overcast. It has been very warm weather in CA lately so it is probably nice to have it ‘cool off a bit’. In reality, it is winter time! I wanted to share with you a photo of my friends from LAS PROFESIONALES AUXILIARY MEMBERS…ASSISTANCE LEAGUE..SAN PEDRO-SOUTH BAY! This is the organization which invited me to become an HONORARY MEMBER last December…the day I was honored at Hollywood Park. These women wanted to honor me for all of my PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS as well as my CHARITABLE WORK! (Please note: MY PHOTO is hanging on their Chapter House wall…right behind them in this picture.) As a gift,… Continue Reading

Good Morning, I must say that I am STILL so excited about all of the kind comments you are writing about my friend, BERNARDINI, and MYSELF. They are really sweet! This morning, Dottie mentioned that my FACEBOOK page has continued to get a great deal of activity. As of 7:00 A.M. CA TIME, I have 62,209 FRIENDS! This is fabulous! I know the number has gone up quite a bit since my last race. I truly want to THANK ALL OF YOU for CARING SO MUCH ABOUT ME! On Thursday, DOTTIE and SOPHIE were at Santa Anita to watch some of my Barn 55 Friends SCHOOL. In racing, this means that a horse (usually getting close to a race) goes over to the paddock and spends some time there…kind of like a practice run. The objective is to familiarize the horse with the area…and some of the pre-race things that… Continue Reading

Good Morning, At this time, many of you have read the Moss’ have announced my MATING PLANS for this year! I will be going to BERNARDINI! I asked John to find this photo of me from his BARN 55 files…it is a few months old. I really did KICK UP MY HEELS here at the farm upon hearing the news that all had been finalized and announced. This is very exciting! Not only are we a wonderful match genetically…we complement each other in many other aspects. Additionally, and this is a sidebar to all of the other great reasons we are a match, Dottie was teasing me this morning that BOTH of us have MOMS who have been recognized in the industry as “BROODMARE OF THE YEAR”. This is a very special fact that I want to keep in my memory bank. I hope I continue this tradition…as my future… Continue Reading

Good Morning, While we are out in the field, relaxing, I always like to share a bit of ‘GIRL TALK’ with my friends. I spent some time yesterday afternoon visiting with them about their ‘personal plans’. I was wondering if their families had reviewed their breeding options with them like mine did with me. We all have our thoughts…and obviously our pedigrees, body types, and personal histories are very different…so these factors do significantly influence WHO we can DATE! It is kinda’ fun to be chit-chatting about all of this with my friends. We are MAIDEN MARES. That is the term for mares who have not been bred before….so we have TONS to talk about with each other. At Barn 55, while out grazing, we talked about staying fit, our training programs, our races, and all of the various fun projects we were involved in each day! NOW….the conversations are… Continue Reading

Happy Tuesday, This is too cute! Last night, Dottie, John, Ann and Jerry all met for dinner. They were discussing my ‘future exciting dating plans’ and the ZENYATTA SCULPTURE that was done by Nina Kaiser. The prototype of the piece is photographed above with Stella and Violet. It looks like Stella is commenting to Violet how much she loves it. I DO TOO! Nina Kaiser is a very talented sculptor. She does beautiful work! Recently, she did the JOHN HENRY life-size statue that is at Santa Anita Park. While I was at BARN 55, Nina would set up appointments with John and Dottie to come out and STUDY ME! She spent hours upon hours at the barn just observing me while I was training and out grazing. Nina actually measured every single part of my body and then took detailed photos of ALL of me! She wanted to be sure… Continue Reading

Good Morning, Home Sweet Home! Oh, this is too cute! This morning, my dear John sent me a photo of my Hollywood Park HOME…BARN 55…STALL 85. I wanted to share it with you! John said when I left for Kentucky that he would not use my stall or put another horse into it for quite some time. It is decorated with so many of my things. This is really the way it looked when I was there…except you would see ‘my adorable head’ poking out of the door. I was always so curious and wanted to be sure I knew everything going on in the barn all of the time! I never wanted to miss a THING! Now, instead of me looking out the door, there is a painting hanging in the back of the stall of Mario with ME. It was done by a fan, Mrs. Kotulak! Mario and… Continue Reading

Happy Sunday Everyone! Yesterday I commented that John and I spent some wonderful quality time together 1 to 1 when my CA FAMILY was visiting me last week. He took some distance photos for you so you could see my paddock. In this one, I am on the far right. As you can see, we have a wonderful, large paddock to run and play in together. It is very spacious and located in a place on the farm where we can see everything going on around us. The view is absolutely spectacular. As you know, I love to stand and look at my surroundings for hours at a time…just like I would do when I was out grazing at Barn 55. So this is very pleasing for me! I can see everything…everywhere! I feel like I am at a beautiful resort! Then my dear John took some photos of ME…. Continue Reading

Good Morning, I am still ‘BASKING IN THE GLOW’ of my GOLDEN TROPHY! What a complete honor! LUCKY, LUCKY ME! I did want to tell you how GREAT it was when my family came to visit last Sunday. Here are a few photos. I had lots of treats…which I shared with my friends…and hugs and kisses. Those I kept for myself! Ann and Jerry spent a great deal of time with me both inside the barn and outside while I was in the paddock. They watched me play with my friends and do some very ‘spirited’ gallops around the field with my 3 buddies. We are really getting along beautifully. P.Q., Sea Gull, Alyse and I are great friends. This ‘bonding thing’ is very special and I think I’m getting the hang of it now. Then John and Dottie each spent ONE-to-ONE time with me. John really wanted to just… Continue Reading

Good Morning Everyone! What a fabulous last few days it has been! I have been receiving so many letters, notes, calls, hugs and kisses! Your DIARY posts have been amazing! THANK YOU! I am still rejoicing in the announcement… The 2010 HORSE OF THE YEAR IS ZENYATTA! These words will echo in my mind FOREVER! What a beautiful way to cap off my RACING CAREER! I wanted you to see the OFFICIAL CARD used that evening. When Alex Waldrop was standing on the stage…opening the envelope…then announcing…AND THE WINNER IS…THIS is the official card he was holding! It is all still so exciting for me! My beloved TEAM was here visiting with me on Sunday and wishing me GOOD LUCK before going on to Florida. Pictures will come soon. Then, the big night arrived! After the announcement, I was able to TANGO with MY TEAM. Everyone has been so, so… Continue Reading
