It’s Party Time! 2011 Breeders’ Cup Zenyatta Celebration Party
Zenyatta is throwing a Breeders’ Cup party, and all her fans are invited! No other thoroughbred in this generation has captured the hearts of fans quite like Zenyatta, and this stunning competitor returns to Breeders’ Cup this year as the world championship’s “official hostess” at the inaugural Zenyatta Celebration, Friday, November 4, at the Kentucky Derby Museum, located adjacent to Churchill Downs. Dear Friends, I absolutely LOVE a great party. I have hosted several of them during my time at Barn 55 and adore sharing good times, great food, and lots of fun with my FRIENDS. It is also such an honor for ME to be the OFFICIAL HOSTESS for this “Inaugural Zenyatta Breeders’ Cup Celebration.” My Team and I are very excited about all of this! I also LOVE GREAT RACING! For the last 3 years, Breeders’ Cup has been such a huge part of my life. This year,… Continue Reading

Happy Friday, Everyone! Suddenly it has become a bit chilly in Lexington. I need to have MY cozy blanket on for my early morning grazing fun with Matt! It is pretty out, though! The fall leaves will start to change soon…and the added color will really make the trees look amazing! This is MY first ‘fall’ in this regard for many years. In California, the seasons do not change as prominently as they do in Kentucky! I am so pleased that YOU really like the idea of MY PARTY. So many fans have already responded and purchased tickets. If you have done so already…you are definitely in the first 500…so do not worry. The computer people are getting this refined for you so the people purchasing tickets in the future will know this information right away. This should all be completed today. Thank you for your patience! I am also… Continue Reading

Happy Wednesday Everyone! Throughout the visits with MY TEAM during the last few weeks, I enjoyed several opportunities to have very, very intimate conversations with MY PAL, Dottie! As you know, she and I speak quite often and constantly work together on several projects. At this particular moment, we are reviewing some exciting plans of things WE anticipate doing in the future. I hope all of these ideas materialize…as they will be SO MUCH FUN! I must say….I loved the comments many of you made yesterday in the Diary Responses as to what my NEW CAREER choices could be! Several of you are right on target! YOU know ME very well! YOU GET ME! YOU truly know what would be the best way for ME, at this point in my life, to successfully apply my skills and talent towards MY 2nd CAREER! I loved reading ALL of your comments and… Continue Reading

Dear Friends, I hope all of you are well. It is so hard to believe that it is almost October! This year is flying by so quickly. I must say I am enjoying every moment and having a great time each day at Lane’s End! As I’ve mentioned to you in prior Diary entries, with all of this ‘free time’ in my schedule, I am really investigating several 2nd career options. Currently, I’m diligently working on some very exciting plans and will be sharing them with you very soon. From the actions I took in these photos, one option I somewhat considered was becoming a HAIR STYLIST. As you can see, while Ann was so affectionately scratching one of my favorite spots…I decided I would redo her hair. Let’s put it this way, she was a GREAT SPORT! I also tried it with April when she came to visit. I… Continue Reading

Happy Monday, Everyone! It was such a wonderful weekend of racing…plus I had so many fabulous times visiting with MY TEAM during the sales…that I thought it would be best to catch up on my rest! I know there are some very exciting things happening in the next few weeks…and I really want to be perfectly rested so I can enjoy all of them. MY JOHN loves this particular photo as he said I used to sleep like this with my head in this position all of the time when I was with him at BARN 55. I have to adjust my ‘tummy’ a bit at this time…as I am now literally ‘sleeping for 2′. He also loved seeing how TASTY and I share such an endearing relationship. He commented to Dottie last night that the ‘kindness’ of our relationship shows even in this picture. Tasty really is so sweet…. Continue Reading

Good Morning, My JOHN got a chance to download some of his photos last night…so I wanted to share a few of them with you. It has been so exciting seeing everyone. As usual, we always have a great time together. Here I am whispering ‘sweet thoughts’ into My John’s ear. At this moment, I really gave a great deal of thought to playing the ‘hat game’ with him as well. It was rather windy at this particular time…so I decided to just ‘kiss’ him on the cheek. I have done this so many times in the past. It brought back so many special memories to ME and I know to him! What a wonderful day we all shared! This weekend seems to be packed with a great deal of stakes action at several different racing venues. I am particularly interested in the KENT which is on the turf at… Continue Reading

Happy Thursday! I am still basking in the glow of all of the attention I have been receiving the past few weeks from ‘my family and close friends’. In the Diary posts, several of you asked if MY TEAM was able to come to Lane’s End and visit with ME during the Sale. The answer is ABSOLUTELY YES. They were here on several occasions. We always share so many great times together! John promised Dottie last night that he would download the photos so we can share them with you. Since everyone is just settling in at home post Del Mar and Kentucky, it has been rather busy. So, I’ll have them for you soon. In some, I’m simply sleeping. I guess they think it is fun to even watch ME do that! This baby thing is really becoming quite fascinating to ME! I’m learning that babies grow up and… Continue Reading

Good Morning All! I’M BACK! This sale ‘stuff’ is rather complicated and kept Dottie quite busy…so we were not able to get together and write during that time. I hope you are all well, had a wonderful week, and are enjoying the changing weather patterns. It is the beginning of Fall! During the Yearling Sale, so many of my dear pals came to Lexington…so I had a great deal of company. This day, I shared a wonderful visit with my very special friends from Florida. As you may remember, Ocala is where I began my very first lessons after I was purchased from the sale. Sharing this photo with ME is Jeanne Mayberry (it is her training center where I spent the first several months of my breaking and training process), her 2 daughters, Summer and April, and their cousin, Jackie. It was great fun to see all of them… Continue Reading

Good Morning, I’m hearing from MY TEAM that ‘working the sale’ requires a great deal of effort, hard work, concentration, and energy! They get up very early each morning and leave for the sales grounds. By that time, David and his crew have already gone over ALL of the horses to be offered that day and come up with the ‘short list’ which Dottie, John and The Moss’ review. All aspects of the individuals are evaluated: conformation, size, pedigree, walk, and other physical qualities! Monitoring the horse’s overall temperament is also a part of this process. Each horse on this list is inspected. If they make this ‘cut’, the veterinarian then examines the horse and his / her xrays in the repository. The VET also scopes the horse’s throat to be sure “all parts are working well’ for good breathing to take place. A good throat is essential for a… Continue Reading
