Dear Friends, Today marks the end of another year! In my lifetime, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have several very wonderful years filled with the love, kindness and thoughtfulness of so many people. December 31st can also be a day of great reflection. Often people review the year mentally …and the different paths that took place in their lives. For ME, this was definitely a year of CHANGE. My life and career went from one amazing stage to another…from being the very accomplished professional athlete that I was…to now becoming a broodmare. Hopefully, though, throughout all of these life changes for ME one thing has remained constant….that I have continued to be a TRUE FRIEND to ALL OF YOU….the wonderful people who have shared so many of these experiences with ME! Happy December 30th to All~ As you can see, this is my very favorite place in our paddock to stand and ‘check everything out’. I just love to follow all of the activity and different things going on at the farm. From this vantage point, I can see absolutely EVERYTHING. I just love it! Sarah wanted to come by and get an ‘end of the year’ photo of ME for Dottie to use in the DIARY….and here I was standing in MY SPOT! At night, TASTY and I do go back to the barn and stay nice and cozy. The rest of the time we are enjoying our fabulous paddock together. Dear Friends, I truly hope each of you had a marvelous holiday! We did here at Lane’s End. Everyone celebrated together and then again with their families and friends. TASTY and I had such a terrific time! People are so kind and we sincerely want to THANK YOU for the cards, well-wishes, and goodies you sent our way. All of your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated. Dottie asked ME to share with you one very special gift that she received from a very dear fan and friend, Candace Jones. The gift is absolutely amazing! It is a beautiful and very detailed scrapbook she made for Dottie and MY JOHN…which covers my entire career. Cheers…..it’s Christmas Eve! This is SO EXCITING! I can’t believe it! My dear friends at BARN 55 all got together this morning to send ME…and ALL OF YOU…a wonderful Christmas HELLO! They look fabulous wearing their new PRIDE OF BARN 55 sweatshirts with ME on the front! I am so incredibly touched! I heard MY JOHN and Dottie had them made for everyone as a fun Holiday Surprise! If I say so myself, they all look TOO CUTE! Oh look, there’s MY MARIO standing on the left! YOU’RE LOOKING GOOD, MARIO! Happy December 23rd! In the midst of all of the pre-holiday rush, it appears that SANTA was so busy and moving about so quickly that his hat flew off. Luckily for him, STELLA and VIOLET found it! Dottie told ME that Ann and Jerry are going to set it by their tree immediately to be sure DEAR SANTA gets it back as soon as possible! We’re sure he’ll be needing it to complete his CHRISTMAS DELIVERIES! It has been a very special year for ME and the people who are so, so close to ME. Good Morning, It is now just a few days before Christmas! SOPHIE looks like she is anxiously awaiting her presents from Santa Claus. I know she received a big package from STELLA and VIOLET last Friday…as they were busy sending out their holiday gifts. Rumor has it she opened them all immediately ! You know how it is….she just couldn’t wait! Oh, look….I think I’m in the picture right next to SOPHIE! I so adore the fact that I am truly very special to my California families! Happy Wednesday to ALL! It is amazing that in our horse racing world…things really do not stop. Amidst all of the holiday activities, we still have to plan for the future and get everything ready to begin one of the biggest race meets of the year in our industry…”SANTA ANITA–THE GREAT RACE PLACE”! During the current week, there is NO live thoroughbred racing in California. It is a bit of a breather in that regard for everyone. The day to day work, though, continues. This morning, ENTRIES will be taken for Santa Anita’s Opening Day! This means that the Racing Office will be getting the RACE CARD organized for December 26th. So many tasks must be completed in advance to make all of this information available to the Racing Fans. This morning, trainers will enter their horses to run on opening day. Dear Friends, This is truly the season for GIVING and SHARING! MY JOHN captured this photo of my dear baby sister, EBLOUISSANTE, while she was trying to encourage STEVE to really get into the “spirit of the season” and share his sandwich with her. Steve not knowing E’s taste in these types of things was taken a bit by surprise! A horse…wanting a sandwich….HMMMM! After chuckling for a bit, and acknowledging the fact that this type of ‘people’ food might NOT be the best for “E”….he was prepared to give her her favorite treat having a big bag of carrots by his side. “E and STEVE” you are both TOO CUTE! Happy Monday Everyone! I can’t believe how quickly the time is flying by. It is the beginning of another week! Everyone is so busy getting ready for the holidays and all of the upcoming festivities that this time of the year brings. On this day, though, I’d like to take a moment and wish MY JOHN and DOTTIE…Happy Anniversary #8! At one o’clock in the afternoon on December 19, 2003…they were married! As Dottie was commenting to MY JOHN this morning…and “WHAT A FABULOUS 8 YEARS IT HAS BEEN! WE ARE SO, SO FORTUNATE AND BLESSED!” Needless to say, I agree! I have been around for most of this time…and enjoying every moment with them.
