  1. Dear Z Fans:

Just read this article in Bloodhorse. Prayers for all the horses at Remington and for the poor Sweetie that had to be euthanized; RIP Beauty.

Hope Phantom hasn’t arrived there yet. Maybe they will stable him elsewhere until this quarantine ends. Love and Hugs, JB

    1. Dear Judy,

This is just awful. RIP to the lost sweet soul. Sending prayers for the safety of all in the quarantined barn and to all horses at Remington Park, too.

Yes, I hope Phantom won’t arrive there until things are cleared up with the EHV-1 virus completely.

Prayers for Hovis, too. May this surgery be successful and complete recovery be achieved with no recurrences.

      Hugs and Love

      1. Dear Marshall:

        Love and Hugs, JB

  2. Dear Z Fans:

Auntie Judy sent this article on Zellda in an email. She is gorgeous and spunky. Enjoy! Love and Hugs, JB

    1. Dear Judy.We both posted a similar articke about Zellda.Looks as if she’ll be racing before long.Good to hear the horses are at last recovering at the farm and I hope they get well at Remington Park too.Poor Angela has had a rough few months with all the horses sick.More wet weather for us this week.Goodnight Love and hugs to you and all sweeties SheenaX

      1. Dear Sheena:

Yes, me too; hope all the horses on the farm and at Remington are better soon.
It has been a very trying time for Angela; working hard every day tending to the horses needs; dispensing meds, keeping the area as sterile as possible, compressing boils when and if they form. It’s been tough. Hopefully, all will be recovered soon. Praying so. Love and Hugs, JB

      2. Dear Sheena and Z Fans:

Sheena, thank you so much for the link on ZELLDA. There’s a video of her galloping included with it that I’ve posted below. Isn’t she a little Doll. Looks like she is really enjoying herself. Love and Hugs, JB

        1. Dear Judy.Such a fiesty girl!Good to see her having fun.Love and hugs.

Put the Kettle has just won the Arkle trial.A grand mare loved the soft going.

Enjoyed this video of lovely Zellda! She definitely has spirit and quite a kick.

          Thanks for posting.

          Hugs and Love

        3. Judy,
Thanks for posting the video. I read the article but did not see the video. She sure is a spunky little girl. Think she would like to see that rider go flying. Not out of meanness, just being full of zest. Blessings, health and safety to her.

        4. Dear Sheena, Marshall and Shirlee:

The video was easy to miss, so I thought I would link it for us all to see. She is one adorable, spunky baby. She reminds me of her Daddy, Songbird and RA too. She’s got the smudgy Medaglia chrome they all have.

Yes, St. Francis keep her safe always. Love and Hugs, JB

        5. Dear Shirlee:

There was a filly entered in one of the Breeders’ Cup races. Can’t remember which day or her exact name, but she was Shirlee, spelled exactly like your name. Too cute. I have to try to find her and make note of her full name so we can keep track. Love and Hugs, JB

        6. Dear Sheena:

Congrats to Put The Kettle. Love that name. Love and Hugs, JB

    2. Dear Sheena:

Scrolled down and read the comments on “why you love horses”. They’re just heartfelt and wonderful. They describe all the feelings all of us share. Thank you for this link. Love and Hugs, JB

  8. Dear Shirlee:

I found the race with your namesake, Smiling Shirlee. It was the third race on Friday November 1st. She came from way back to get second spot. Beautiful girl. Here’s the replay. Love and Hugs, JB

    1. Judy,
Thanks. I saw her name in the results. She tried hard.

Hope you and yours are staying warm. It has been very cold and ugly here. We have set records for lows!

I don’t have words to describe have I felt when I saw the top picture of Ann and Zenyatta. Close as I can get is breathtaking!

      Have a good Monday.

      1. Dear Shirlee:

She’s had three starts and finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd. She’s only two and I think she’s only going to improve with experience. We have to keep track of this little Beauty.

I agree, that photo of Ann and Z is breathtaking!

It’s been very cold here too. Stay warm. Love and Hugs, JB

        1. Dear Judy and Shirlee,

That was quite an amazing run from Smiling Shirlee! She had to travel wide so she had more ground to cover and still made second. Well done!

Thanks for posting the replay, Judy. We definitely need to keep track of this beautiful two-year old girl! Hope she stays safe and sound. All the best wishes to Smiling Shirlee!

          Hugs and Love

        2. Dear Marshall:

Yes, we have to follow our Shirlee’s namesake. She’s a brave little girl. Love and Hugs, JB

  21. Just saw on that California Chrome is being sold to Japan! His present ownership is keeping an interest and will have a say on what goes on. He will return to California when he is retired from breeding. Greed?

    1. Taylor Made is doing the right thing. There was very little interest from mare owners and his book for 2020 was not filling. His stud fee, though advertised as $35,000 for 2019 and $30,000 for 2020, was actually around $15,000 last year privately. There is oversight and a provision for a return to the States in the sales contract. Chrome will be well taken care of in Japan and this sale gives him more opportunity to succeed as a stallion. This is so much better than him becoming a regional stallion somewhere in California, New Mexico, New York, etc. where his stud fee would fall below $10,000. Taylor Made has been so generous to Chrome’s fans, I hope the fans don’t start bashing them.

      1. Sadly the fans are bashing them on social media. This horse does not belong to them so surely it is up to his owners to decide and he will return to the US to retire.I wish him well.

Here is the link about Chrome.Seems Japan is the place to be!!!

A very Happy 72nd wedding anniversary to Her Majesty and The Duke of Edinburgh.I know the Royal family have been in the news lately for all the wrong reasons but I am and remain a staunch Royalist.

    1. Thank-yo for the link Sheena! I wrote a post with a heavy heart!!!!

  23. Dear Z Family:

I am devastated. Angela just texted me not to visit; Strangles on the farm. State Vet has ordered quarantine for undetermined amount of time. Please pray for my Charlie and all the horses.
I don’t know if the diagnosis of Equine Virus B was incorrect to begin with or why this is happening. Just when things seemed to be getting back to normal, this nightmare begins again. I am really worried. Thank you for your prayers. Love and Hugs, JB

    1. Dear Judy.I am SO sorry to hear about the strangles outbreak.I pray Charlie will avoid it.I shall keep you and the farm in all my prayers.Goodnight God bless you LM PC HT and all the sweeties>Love and Hugs SheenaX Waiting for news of Hovis.

    2. Judy,
So sorry. Sending healing thoughts and prayers to all the horses on the farm. St. Francis protect Charlie from this horrible disease. Strength and peace to all the humans at the farm.

    3. Praying hard Judy.

    4. Dear Judy,

I’m SO sorry and I will pray HARD for your beloved Charlie!

      Hugs, Kathy

    5. Dear Judy,

I am so sorry to hear this — it is very upsetting to say the least. Sincere thoughts and prayers for the farm and all its inhabitants. Keeping Charlie and all his friends in my heart and sending all good wishes for safety and total healing.

St. Francis keep careful watch over these innocents and help them to recover. 🙏
I will keep you, Judy (Angela and staff, also), in my thoughts, too. May good health soon be restored to all.

      Hugs and Love

  24. Great article on Bloodhorse and a suggestion to read Donna Brothers blog,”PETA is a Bullly”

    1. Dear Barbara,

I saw that article and read it from beginning to end. PETA’s attitude toward non-human animals is disturbing. To think they feel animals are better off dead than being with humans is really incomprehensible. Basically, they are against any domesticated animals.
They appear to be unconcerned about animal welfare and sometimes behave like terrorists. Sorry if this offends anyone, but offing well-cared for animals rather than returning them to their homes is in no way an act of kindness.

Donna Brothers article is definitely worth the reading — I knew PETA was extreme, but I had no idea how extreme.

      Hugs and Love

  25. Barbara,
Thanks. Read the article and agree that PETA can go overboard sometimes. I have read that they don’t think dogs and cats should be pets! I love and care for my 2 cats and they live better than a lot of people. Hope racing can respond with grace and good sense. Too many black eyes here lately.

  26. My Dear Z Family:

Thank you all for your sweet words and for your prayers. Love all of you. Hugs, JB

    1. Dear Judy B,
Praying that this chapter will soon come to a close.

Goodnight. Love and Hugs, JB, LM and all the Sweeties

  29. Dear Z, COZ, ZI, ZEL and DC:

Stay comfy and cozy. Love all of you so much. Hugs, JB
