Getting Ready for Summer

Happy Wednesday!

The summer weather has been beautiful at Lane’s End. It time to break out the fly masks and watch Baby Z shed his furry coat.

Zenyatta and her colt are both happy and healthy. Baby Z will be as tall as his mom in no time!

In the meantime, enjoy this video of Z and Baby hanging out in the paddock.

Have a great day!

  1. A Birthday Poem for Pati
    (June 12, 2012)

    Happy birthday to dear Pati,
Whom we met on this blog spot.
    She’s accomplished a whole lot
    At a very young age–
It’s still a year till she’s off to college!
    She seems
    To enjoy competing
On both the track and swim teams..
    She’s a most talented writer
And honing her skills as a jump rider,
    Every day getting better
    By dint of hard work,
And she for sure won’t let any jerk
    Stand in her way,
    Whether it’s a jackass
    In class
    (Remember that wannabe bully?)
    Or a troll
    Like that dim Jim
    On the Internet,
    You can bet
    Our Pati will take control.
Pati, we Z-sters think you’re grand
    And we stand
    With you fully!
    We wish you great success
    And every happiness!

Happy 17th birthday, Pati, and many, many happy returns!

    1. Yay! My own poem! Thanks so much!

      1. Pati–when do you find time to sleep?–lol!

        1. I don’t know. Occasionally now and then, but that depends on the trajectory of the moon and the sun. Usually I get about 15 hours in, but today was a special day, so I have been truckin’ since 8 this morning. I had almost a liter of soda (which is more in a day than I have in YEARS as I don’t drink soda) and I’m fixing to crash. I still had to make sure everyone got my message about reporting the psycho on IHA’s page and to make sure I thanked all my well-wishers. I think I shall make my way to bed now. :-)

    2. Lovely poem, Trina

And welcome back, so sorry for your loss.
Pets are such a wonderful thing.

    3. Dear Trina:

      Another wonderful poem. Hugs, JB

  4. Hi Trina: A special hello to you. Your poems are just great!!!!

Happy Birthday to Susan, Pati and Cynthia H. Hope all of you had a wonderful day. Wishing you all many, many more birthdays to come.

The Power of Prayer and Giant Ryan needs our prayers.
May we all keep Giant Ryan in our prayers–especially tonight and tomorrow. May our prayers ask the LORD to give the doctors the wisdom to move these blood clots to improve the blood flow in Giant Ryan’s leg so they can prepare him for surgery.

We love you Giant Ryan. Continue to be strong.

    1. ♥ Thank you, so much, Linda!

  5. Here is some of the latest information on Giant Ryan.

    http://www.drf.com/news/giant-ryans-surgery-true-north-injury-pushed-back

    1. Dear Sign:

Thanks for the link on GR. Praying his issues resolve and surgery will be possible and successful. Hugs, JB

    2. prayers for the big guy!! : )

  6. Hi Signofthetimes: Thanks for the post.

    All: Please see below:

“Once the blood flow is good, that’s the whole key right now,” said Parbhoo. “If the doctors can get that resolved, they seem confident the surgery on his leg will be successful.”

    Please pray.

    1. Those TB ballerina legs !!!!

  7. Joining in with you all to pray for Giant Ryan’s blood flow issues.
God bless you, Giant Ryan, and keep you through the night and give you strength and the will to whip this.
Love to all, especially OUR Z. and Baby Z.

  8. Sign, Linda and Barbara. I am praying for Giant Ryan!

Happy Birthday to Cynthia H, Pati, and Susan. Hope they were great.

Karen G, thanks for all the great links. Thank you to all of you: Karen, Zenyen, Signofthetimes, Laura J, for all you share with us. I did finally get to see IHA’s “retirement” ceremony from the links you all shared. I hope Santa Anita will do something really special for him. After finally getting to see it, I felt what they did at Pimlico was a bit lame. Just my opinion.

Trina, great to see you back. The poems were fantastic, as usual. You have inspired me to reread Diary of Anne Frank.

Barbara Wood and Ann and Judy. Thank you so much for your care and support in the dilemma of the horses I was so worried about. I am very happy to report they are looking much better and apparently my fears were wrong, Thank you God. Could be, they wondered why that crazy blond kept driving around their place so slow and looking at the horses, lol. Whatever, I am glad they were not shipped off for what I so feared and they do look much, much better. Whenever I see a human, I will stop and talk to them, but have never seen a human person out yet.

Terry, it was good to see you post. What do you think of this? True Story. You might be a redneck if you get your ears pierced, have no earrings, so you put a piece of straw through the holes to keep them from closing. Ha ha . My friends grandma did that.

Whew, glad I got to post at least much without getting kicked off my server. Take care everybody. Love to all of you and especially my angels Zenyatta and 12Z.

    1. Dear Darlene:

Glad to hear the horses are looking better and it appears they are safe where they are. You did the right thing by watching and making sure they are OK. Hugs, JB

      1. Thank you Judy.

And, how are you doing? I think of you often.

        1. Dear Darlene:

I’m doing well; thank you so much for asking. Hugs, JB

    2. Darlene,
Thank you for giving us the update on the horses. Those horses are lucky to have a crazy blonde driving by and checking on them. Good job!!!!!!
      Take care horse friend.

    3. ♥ Thank you, Darlene! Yes–truly great.

  9. Dear Cynthia H.:

Happy Birthday to you. Hugs, JB

    1. ♥ Thank you, Judy. Bear hugs!

  10. Dear Susan in TN:

Sending you very Happy Birthday wishes. Love an Hugs, JB and Lola Mae

  11. @Pati….I did finally get on IHA fb…..trolls seem to be gone …everyone telling them to hit the road…however conspiracy theory’s abound …it seems everything must have an ulterior motive…sometimes things are just what they seem….simplest explanation is truth

    1. Yes, I checked last night and didn’t see any either.

  12. Dear Shari V.:

    How is your Dad doing?

Have you heard from Dawn C? She hasn’t posted in a long time. Hugs, JB

  13. Dear Dottie Shirreffs,

I and, I am sure many other Zsters are missing you. Could you please give us a post from you, our former voice of Zenyatta. We miss you and love you very much. Hope all is well with you. God’s Blessings to you Dottie and John and the precious Sopie. Thank you for all you gave us with the Diary. Love always. Darlene Daniels.

    1. Correction: Sophie, not Sopie

    2. I miss her, too. We are still connected by the blog and the forum, but i miss Dottie’s touch and her voice–wonder what our Zenyatta is saying now! Maybe just once a month, Dottie–one little statement from you and Zenny? It would make thousands of people happy…

  14. For the Dumplings that want to learn the anatomy of a racehorse and about “Tendons,” I found a documentary that took place in Europe (aired on the 10th). Anyways, it is very educational but, graphic. I won’t post the link on this blog but, I have on the format (due to the necropsy).

  15. @Darlene Daniels– thank you so much for your upbeat report on the horses. I was really worried, because I know the Amish do work at the auctions and have been known to run puppy mills. Don’t mean to paint a whole group with a broad brush, but just saying that our vigilance is the only protection some of these dear ones have, no matter where they are.

Really, really getting worried about Dawn now. I don’t believe she’s ever been gone from us this long.

I will be in and out most of the day, so would someone post any news updates that come up about Giant Ryan? I wish he could know how much he is loved.

Just had to re-watch the video again last night of Zoe Bragg and Mikey. SO glad she is continuing to do well. Go Zoe! And the WHitney Houston background song was bittersweet.

@Judy B.–thinking of you and praying for you every day.

Well, guess I’m off. (Some have thought that for a long time–lol!) Hugs to all.

    1. Barbara
When you’re “on” (ha, ha), could you post the link to the video or tell us where to look? Thanks!

    2. Dear Barb W.:

Thank you for your kindness and friendship. Love and Hugs, JB

  16. I will add my prayers for Giant Ryan. God love him.

  21. Dear TC, GP
Hope your friend is recovering. Ah, yes I remember cataract
surgery internal swelling can be worse than
External swelling with LASIK. Hope everything is
Subsiding, simple surgery but at times difficult,
    Eye patches etc…. You know.

    Look forward to your return.

  22. Hi – Wow, pics of Zenyatta, Baby Z and his friends are awesome. He is gorgeous. Cannot wait for 2014!
