Happy Wednesday!
We hope you are all having fun this summer. 12Z certainly is! He has grown quite a bit, and he now spends much of his time socializing and playing with other colts.
Alys sent us these photos of 12Z having a great time with his buddies–and mom!
Check back this week for the next Ask The Experts post plus an exciting announcement.

I have a question. How do I get a job at LE.? I cannot imagine being in the company of these gorgeous horses, especially Zenny, and getting paid for it. 12Z sure looks like his mom.
July 26, 2012 at 6:09 pm
I would work for free!!!!!
July 27, 2012 at 3:06 am
Me, too.
July 26, 2012 at 8:11 pm
If you are serious, you can check their website for job openings.
July 27, 2012 at 2:47 am
Dear Alys and Lanes Ends staff,
These photos of 12 Z, his friends and Zenny are so very wonderful.
So glad to see her having fun, not tethered to a human, really being
the fun loving and playful horse that she is with her son and his friends.
12 Z is gorgeous and is so big, looking like a horse, too and not a baby.
Guess when they start eating on their own, they get more independent.
Hope he will be good for you learning his “manners”. He seems like
a colt with a mind of his own.
Thanks again for such joyful fun photos
July 26, 2012 at 4:46 pm
Thanks for sharing the great photos – looks like everybody’s having a ball!

Ann, Peggy (N) and other Dynaformer fans. Lucarno’s full brother, Thought Worthy, will be racing for the St. Leger in September. TW was born in Kentucky and is US owned. He is trained by John Gosden who also trained Lucarno. Like Lucarno, TW ran 4th in the English Derby. He was later a close 3rd to Thomas Chippendale and Frankel’s brother, Noble Mission, at Ascot. TW is a talented long haul horse. I am also cheering for TW out of respect for Big D.
July 26, 2012 at 5:50 pm
Camelot is my pick in that race.
July 26, 2012 at 6:33 pm
I support only horses who can protect Bobby Frankel’s record against Ballydoyle. Bobby should keep that record.
July 26, 2012 at 8:48 pm
Thanks Max. I will watch that race. Love those Dynaformer kids. When I go to Ocala in August I am going to try and find out where Nicanor is at. I know someone was trying to find out on here. They hadn’t heard where he was. I could have missed it if they did find out. If no one knows I am going to try and find out.
July 27, 2012 at 2:49 am
Great update Max,
Will be watching and rooting, definatley agree with your support
of Bobby Frankel’s record.
July 27, 2012 at 6:15 am
Thanks Max. I appreciate the heads up. Big D, I am sure is a proud Poppa.
P.S….I am still in awe of Lucarno. Watching the video is awesome.!!!
Will be cheering this TW on in Sept. Can’t wait!
July 27, 2012 at 6:19 am
Dear Max:
Thanks for the info on Thought Worthy. My gosh what a wonderful legacy Dynaformer has left. So many wonderful babies. Rooting for BF’s record to hold too. Hugs, JB

Patti:
Thanks for sharing Oscar’s story with us. I nearly died when I saw his original pic, how could anyone do that to an animal? He looks beautiful thanks to you and your wonderful helpers. Keep us posted on how he and the others are doing. What you are doing is a selfless act, and you are truly an angel to these horses in need. I will keep you and your four legged friends in my prayers. This story truly touched my heart.

Absolutley amazing transformation. Kudos to Safe Haven.
July 26, 2012 at 8:15 pm
Dear Pati,
Oscar looks fabulous!! Everyone involved with SHERR and its connections deserves a medal of honor (at least) for their efforts. What a gorgeous horse! I am glad that he has found a home so he can look forward to and enjoy the love, care and admiration that he so richly deserves.
Thank you for all the great work and for keeping us apprised of the condition of these beautiful creatures.
You’re the Best!

July 27, 2012 at 11:41 am
Oscar is truly beautiful! He and his new family are very lucky.
July 27, 2012 at 1:41 pm
This is truly a miracle. He does not look lke the same horse, I am amazed that he can trust humans seeing that first photo. What a beautiful, loving horse. His eyes just shine with the rest of him. Lisag
July 28, 2012 at 12:41 am
Very handsome indeed! What an inspiring story–you’re doing great things, Pati!
July 26, 2012 at 5:21 pm
Oh my! What gorgeous photos. l2Z is getting more handsome all the time. It also appears that Zenyatta can buck just as well as she can race.
July 26, 2012 at 5:51 pm
@Terry Crow – I posted a joke for you and wanted to make sure you saw it. It’s at the very end of page 6.
July 27, 2012 at 4:46 am

July 26, 2012 at 9:20 pm
@Sis Dawn, I meant to ask you. Did you get to see my Darling Boy A.P. Indy while you were in Kentucky? I know Sue’s gonna want to know too.
Just when you get time, we would love to hear if you saw him. Did you by any chance see Point Given.??? You know we have to keep track of these boys. I have so many favorites. Hope you watched the video of War Pass’s daughter. Everyone has to help me keep watch on her. She just stole my heart.
July 26, 2012 at 9:28 pm
Everyone have a nice Friday. Remember Rachel’s Colt to be named. OMG I have got to get to sleep got to get up early…………………………………….Love Ya Zenny and Baby Z.
July 26, 2012 at 9:59 pm
I have a question: With the excitement Tomorrow of RA’s Colts’ official name….What is Z12′s barn name? Or does he have one?
July 27, 2012 at 1:36 pm
We call him alot of things, I call him The Prince, but LE did not give him a nickname or barn name. He is The Prince even after he receives his official name, as that is his Title…for now anyway. We may be looking at the future King of the Sport of Kings. Lisag
July 27, 2012 at 2:20 am
OMG! Thanks for sharing these beautiful pictures. Looks like everyone is having a great time. Oh! exciting announcement. I can’t wait.
July 27, 2012 at 2:36 am

Very interesting !!
July 27, 2012 at 7:52 am
I wanted to jump in but I didn’t have a group to join, and I didn’t want to join random group.
July 27, 2012 at 8:05 am
We need the RN group. That would be Zentastic.
July 27, 2012 at 8:13 am
I would love to join a group of Zentastic!! Just tell me what to do!
July 27, 2012 at 8:52 am
Ann-Who is better qualified than you to start such a group?
July 27, 2012 at 9:26 am
You guys let me know if someone starts a group for us. We can all play each other. what fun
July 27, 2012 at 2:39 pm
Yes! We Z family need to storm the ranks!
July 27, 2012 at 11:26 am
Gee, I joined a random team already since I had no immediate friends who would be interested to join. I would like to join another team. The first race played is the Whitney at Saratoga on 8/4.
July 28, 2012 at 5:35 am
I left this on the next thread that I started a league. The name is Zentastic. Pati and I are set and ready to play. I hope more of you will join us. I believe I left the information on page 2 of the new story.
July 27, 2012 at 6:07 am
Dear Lane’s End and Team Z:
Thank you so much for these wonderful photos of Z, The Prince and his pals. It’s so heartwarming to see him and Z so joyfully running and and jumping in the paddock. He’s just gorgeous and Z looks wonderful. Hugs, JB
July 27, 2012 at 8:03 am
Hi Judy:
Thanks for the link about the yearlings! I was wondering if you could help me, I found 2 yearlings that I would like to follow #440 a colt by Skip Away and #355 a filly by Real Quiet. Before our precious Z-Girl and Rachel came along Real Quiet was one of my all time favorite horses, How or where do I find out their names and maybe their owners or trainers? I would appreciate any help you could give me?
With much appreciation!
July 27, 2012 at 3:51 pm
Dear GirlSaratoga: (My favorite Race Track)
Do you know the names of the Dams for each of the yearlings or what sale they were in and when? The year they were born? Skip Away, unfortunately, passed away on May 14, 2010, so the Hip No. 440 colt may not be a yearling. I don’t know for sure if any of his foals were born in 2010.
The Pedigree Query website Progeny for Skip Away lists foals born in 2009, but none in 2010; but they’re not always up to date. One of Skip Away’s sons who was born in 2009 out of Watt Ever was in training in New York this year and sustained a minor injury; he is healing and expected to return to training soon. His name is Circuitous. I will see if I can find out what sale he was in and the Hip No.
The Progeny for Real Quiet lists thirty plus (I stopped counting) fillies born in 2010. If you have any of the above info, we will probably be able to track them. Hugs, JB
July 27, 2012 at 4:50 pm
Dear GirlSaratoga and Z Fans:
This is a photo of Skip Away’s son, Circuitous taken in the Fall of 2011. Hugs, JB

July 27, 2012 at 9:28 am
What does VAF stand for?
July 27, 2012 at 7:24 am
Don’t know if you all know this yet or not. I’ll Have Another is in Japan already. I am trying to accept this but it is hard.
July 27, 2012 at 8:59 am
Reddam probably got a bonus for expediting IHA’s arrival.
July 27, 2012 at 9:48 am
;-)
July 27, 2012 at 1:33 pm
I am having a hard time with it as well. We just fell in love wholeheartedly and were so awesomely amazed, then he is taken away.
July 27, 2012 at 7:41 am
@Debbie G-Thanks for bringing my attention to your Golden Outhouse Award entry, which is the first one ever submitted. The next step is for the chapter presidents to award your joke the appropriate number of half moons, from 1 to 5. Yes, you can vote as you are a chapter president. One of the many perks. I will leave it open for a week so that the presidents get a chance to vote and I will remind them from time to time.
July 27, 2012 at 8:01 am
Half Moons…HAHAHA!
OK, this in honor of my lovely group of cowgirls, all leaving me and going away to schools of higher learning. This at dinner last night…..
You might be a redneck if….you insert the nine inch nails, into the ends of the ear of corn, and these are your ” corn holders”.
July 27, 2012 at 8:10 am
Ann,
HaHa!! Very redneck worthy in my opinion.
July 27, 2012 at 8:56 am
Certainly is. Is that a NC tradition?
July 27, 2012 at 8:02 am
Mr Grand Poobah,
As the proud, reigning, black eyed and bruised and fat lipped president of the Indiana Chapter of the great Redneck Society, I vote that Debbie G, whatever her last name really is, get 4.8 half moons.
Respectfully submitted,
Darlene Daniels, President of the Indiana Chapter of Rednecks.
July 27, 2012 at 8:05 am
P.S.
Terry,
Are you a redneck if you require a shopping cart when you go into the liquor store? Just askin?
And, this had nothing to do with my black eye and fat lip! Just saying, OK?
July 27, 2012 at 8:54 am
Darlene-Only if it is one of those riding shopping carts.
July 27, 2012 at 8:57 am
Debbie-Darlene had chipped in with the first response. Thank you, Darlene. Your rating is noted.
July 27, 2012 at 10:49 am
I’m giving Debbie all 5 half-moons! She really deserves to get the first award!
No offense to DMCQ, but despite a funny story, that guy is WAY too sophisticated to be a redneck!
July 27, 2012 at 12:14 pm
DMCQ did not mean for her joke to be an entry. She wanted me to post it because she was having trouble with her computer.
July 27, 2012 at 3:56 pm
Great joke, Ann! Thanks for the votes, Sandy and Darlene! And Darlene, I did have to use a shopping cart the last time I went to the liquor store! I guess that proves I’m a true redneck. Since it’s legal, I’m going to give myself 5 votes, Grand Poobah!
Debbie whatshername
July 27, 2012 at 4:15 pm
Yor vote is noted. As I indicatd to Darlene, it is not really redneck to use a shopping cart in a liquor store unles it is a motorized one.
July 27, 2012 at 7:53 am
Our chapter president from Alabama, DMCQ, has asked me to pass this one along so here it is. It seems that a Georgia redneck went into a bank in New York City and asked to borrow $5,000 for a week. The loan officer looked at him suspiciously and asked him if he had any collateral. The redneck said that yes, he had a new Ferrari parked out in front of the bank and produced the title and the keys to the car. Upon inspection of the vehicle, the bank agreed to the loan and parked the car in a secure area under the bank. After the redneck left, the bank officers laughed themselves sick about the redneck putting up a $250,000 care as collateral for a $5,000 loan. After a week had passed, the Georgia redneck appeared and repaid the $5,000 loan plus $25.00 in interest. The redneck was then given his keys and directed to where the car was parked. As he turned to go, the redneck was asked by the loan officer why he put up such a valuable vehicle as collateral for such a small loan. “Well,” said the redneck, “I was going to Europe for a few days and had no place to leave my car. Where else could I park it for a week for only $25.00 and be reaaonably sure it was safe.” So, who had the last laugh? Doris–I may have left a few words out as I was typing it from memory. Hope I did your joke justice.Just one question–Why is he designated as a Georgia redneck? Sharon in Atlanta? your opinion?
July 27, 2012 at 8:06 am
That is also a great joke and she gets 4.8 half moons, in my opinion.
July 27, 2012 at 8:57 am
4.9 from the great states of AZ/New Mexico!
July 27, 2012 at 9:00 am
DMCQ did not submit her joke as a Golden Outhouse Award nominee. Is your rating for Debbie G’s entry?
July 27, 2012 at 10:27 am
I am confused what are we rating? splain please
July 27, 2012 at 11:38 am
My rating was for Debbie G. Love DMCQ’s joke, but I wasn’t sure if was an entry. I hope there are lots of entries coming, I know we have a lot of creative folks out there .
July 27, 2012 at 12:20 pm
Sue-We are working on a new category known as the Golden Outhouse Award. Once an individual accrues 10 points, she will receive a certificate suitable for framing and hanging in the outhouse. I am still working on the design. The number of points that an entry receives will be an average of the half moons awarded by the chapter presidents. The joke will have to be designated as an entry before any action will be taken. So far, the one entered by Debbie G is the first and only one. The voting began today and will last for a week until all chapter presidents have weighed in, including Debbie.
July 27, 2012 at 3:45 pm
Do we send the joke to you or add it to the blog if we want to participate?
I can’t find Debbie’s joke. What page is it on. I do like DMCQ’s joke. Can we nominate her to be an entry?
July 27, 2012 at 4:19 pm
Sue-Debbie’s joke was on Page 6 of this thread. The entries, I think, will have to be public and, therefore, posted on the blog. DMCQ’s joke is worthy, but she did not intend it to be an entry.
July 28, 2012 at 5:41 am
I found it! I heard that joke told by Joel O a few months ago. He likes to tell jokes prior to his message. I thought it was funny and it is good with a horse too. 3.5 on the score from me
July 27, 2012 at 11:22 am
Absolutely love it! What would we do without our daily redneck dose?
July 27, 2012 at 4:02 pm
Thanks for the votes, Rosemary. Great joke, DMCQ. If we’re going to vote on it, I’ll give it 4.8 half moons. Sue, my joke is at the very bottom of page 6.

SHERR gets to be on t.v. so all of you NC Z fans, watch for it August 4th on the channel 2 news, if you get it! It might end up online too! I think I made it into the piece!
This update contains Kate’s story, the horse who came from a truly psychotic owner. I cried when I read her story, so have tissues on hand. I will do an extended profile on her later.
July 27, 2012 at 9:54 am
Patti:
God Bless you and all your wonderful, kind, loving volunteers. Congrats on making the channel 2 news on August 4th, unfortunately I live on the East Coast and probably won’t get the NC news! So with that being said….please keep us posted on how all your champions are doing, especially Kate, what a lucky lady to have you and your team taking such good care of her now. I hope and pray her psychotic, deranged owner is behind bars being beaten every day in the head with a steel pipe! (People like that shouldn’t even own gold fish!)
Wishing you Good Health and Happiness Always!
July 27, 2012 at 12:23 pm
GirlSaratoga-I agree with your idea of punishment. Pati-This is wonderful. But, I must remind you that we have not had a reply from Bubba as to redneck club membership.
July 27, 2012 at 9:50 am
Yippee!! The Kentucky Horse Park’s web cam facing the Hall of Champions is working again! I contacted them; was told it belongs to the local phone company and that one day it will be removed :-(
Until then, continue to enjoy viewing Cigar grazing in his paddock in the afternoons (after the daily shows) :D

JAG aka Judy:
Thanks for the link, what a beautiful slide show! Kentucky is so gorgeous! I wish I new the names of the horses I was looking at? (like the horse in the barn or the black horse towards the end?) My dream is to take a trip to Kentucky someday to view all the beautiful scenery. Thanks for preview!
July 27, 2012 at 12:29 pm
I submitted a picture of John Henry in 2005 – it’s among the slide show :-)
July 27, 2012 at 3:06 pm
Thanks very much Auntie Judy, I was so sad when you let us know about that miserable phone company. You deserve a medal.
July 28, 2012 at 6:15 pm
judy (jag) – rood and riddle is sponsoring an auction to benefit the kentucky horse park and rescue. one of the items is a halter from cigar with statement of authenticity. here is the info they gave me in case you want to bid: “If you would like to bid on one of these items, please go to http://www.hatsoffky.com/images/files/ProxyBidSheet.pdf , complete and print the Proxy Bid Sheet and fax to (859) 255-5367, attention LaTonna Wilson. You may also scan and email the document to lwilson@roodandriddle.com. ” good luck if you decide to bid (after i typed this, i realized that you might already have one of his halters. do you? if so, disregard!)
July 27, 2012 at 10:19 am
I am sure I am missing something. Why isn’t Mike riding Paynter on Sunday?
July 27, 2012 at 10:22 am
Bob’s go to rider is riding him. It wasn’t anything personal.
July 27, 2012 at 10:45 am
carolinutah and other Cigar stalkers. He’s back. The camera is working again at his horse residence. Oh happy day!
July 28, 2012 at 5:48 am
What a place….stalkers and rednecks and outhouse awards…oh my!
July 27, 2012 at 12:31 pm
Here are today’s redneck jokes. You might be in a redneck hospital if the maternity room is a do-it-yourself with fresh straw, a jack knife and a piece of string. You might be a redneck if your best ashtray is a turtle shell. You might be a redneck if you bathe your cat in the toilet. You might be a redneck if you wake up the day after your wedding and find your brother next to you. You might be a redneck if you have the policeman hold your beer while you get your license. You might be a redneck if the Orkin man tells you “Give up. You’ve lost.”
July 27, 2012 at 12:42 pm
I think you might be red in places a whole lot more serious than a neck if you try to bathe your cat in the toilet!!! Bring on the band-aids!!!
July 28, 2012 at 10:19 am
turtle shell? we seashore rednecks use clam shells. that counts, right? very funny stuff, grand poobah! hugs to all from the redneck chapter of new jersey (headquarters in the SOUTHern nj , of course!)
July 27, 2012 at 2:17 pm
I love the pictures of Queen Z and her Prince, Taco. How’d he get that barn name anyway? And how do I get a job at Land’s End? I just want to follow Zenyatta around 24/7. She’s such a majestic horse. Thank you so much for sharing her with us!
July 27, 2012 at 3:19 pm
Zenyatta’s colt is not named Taco. He is being referred to as Z12 by Lane’s End and Baby Z or the Prince by his fans.
July 27, 2012 at 3:24 pm
Racheal’s colt is nicknamed Taco, and his best friend , another colt is named Chili.
July 27, 2012 at 2:18 pm
I adoreZenyatta and her colt. He is getting sooo big.
July 27, 2012 at 3:00 pm
Gee, I’m thinking it’s about time for a poster of these two fabulous horses before the young man is weaned.
July 27, 2012 at 3:11 pm
Just got back with my daughter from Kentucky. Visited the Lanes End stallion complex and was actually able to pet and have photos taken with Curlin, Smart Strike, and AP Indy. It was so tantalizing being there and not being able to visit Queen Z and lovely colt 12Z. These pictures are amazing and help with my heartfelt wishes to visit with her.
Also saw Cigar and Funny Cide at the Kentucky horse park they looked marvelous.
Went to Old Friends and was surprised to see Rapid Redux there, he was on stall rest and was limping when he did get up and walk around.
It was such an amazing vacation a dream come true for us, I didn’t want to come back.
Having a lovely week everyone.
A big thankyou to Lane’s End, you were so accomadating and informative. We loved it.
July 27, 2012 at 3:52 pm
CindyM. Thanks for this news. Glad that you had a good time.
July 27, 2012 at 4:12 pm
Cindy, you are a lucky girl!
Get well soon, RR!
July 27, 2012 at 4:45 pm
Dear Cindy M:
How wonderful that you and your daughter got to see all these beautiful horses. Hope Rapid Redux is better soon. Hugs, JB
July 27, 2012 at 9:10 pm
Thanks Max, Barbara, and Judy.

July 28, 2012 at 10:23 am
