Hey Ann,
I had CJ to place and they only gave me $29 instead of $40. How do we
deal with this? Next time I will print out my choice.
Thanks
August 11, 2012 at 9:20 pm
Dear Sign:
CJ paid 2.90 to show. Did they give you the show money? Hugs, JB

August 12, 2012 at 11:06 am
Oh Judy,
You and me both!! Now if we could form a corporation, get donations and buy HDG,(so she doesn’t go to Japan) we could breed her to Bernie…….wow what a beautiful baby they would have. Come on people…….pony up (pun intended), let’s make sure our “gracie” stays here.
I’ve been watching Olympics and missed the fact that my Data Link was scratched so when I checked results I had won $24.00 as they put my money on Wise Dan. Hooray, I’m in the money. Any moneys won will be put into my buy HDG fund.
August 12, 2012 at 12:54 pm
@Sue, I am with you l00%. We need to buy Havre De Grace.
August 12, 2012 at 8:06 pm
I’ll pitch in! It wont be much, but it would be exciting!
August 12, 2012 at 8:06 pm
:-P if we can’t own one HOY, we Z fans resort to owning another. LOL
August 12, 2012 at 1:41 pm
@Sue Fredrick, Hey I have said I was going to have to learn Japanese. Well I think it has been 30 days for I’ll Have Another in Quarantine. I wonder if he has shipped to Japan yet?????????????????????????At the sale in Florida there are usually Japanes buyers down there. I wanted to tell them to please keep us posted on our boy IHA on the Internet. We need so to keep up with him. I am still terribly sad about him leaving.
August 12, 2012 at 4:04 pm
Peggy,
I’ll Have Another has arrived in Japan, is at Big Red Gate farm.
Here are two videos of his arrival.

August 12, 2012 at 4:25 pm
These are two nice videos of IHA,
I am sure those other breeding stallions are telling him a thing or two about the pecking order and how it goes plus many other things.
He does look like he is having fun, so glad they are enjoying him.
Guess being in quarantine can make a horse go “bonkers” too.
August 12, 2012 at 5:55 pm
Zenyen
Thank you so much for that Vidoe. He does look good doesn’t he. Looked good kicking up those heels. Sounded like they were all really excited there. I agree with Sign, I’ll bet those other stallions are really telling him a thing or ttwo
August 12, 2012 at 3:01 pm
I am concerned HDG will go to Japan, too especially
Since there is no interest to purchase her privately.
August 11, 2012 at 9:32 pm
Reccomendation to all Fantasy Capping members;
Make a copy of your bet, Today they gave me the show price when I bet the
horse to place and it was accepted.
I sent them an e-mail, but have no written documentation. It is very important
to make a copy as their are errors being made !!!!!
August 11, 2012 at 9:36 pm
Dear Sign:
That’s a shame. When I saw CJ paid 2.90 to show, I thought they might have made a mistake and given you the show money. Left you a post at the bottom of page 6. Hugs, JB
August 12, 2012 at 8:49 am
Yes, they gave me show money.
EVERYONE MAKE A PRINTED COPY OF YOUR
FINAL BET.
They are makIng mistakes.
August 11, 2012 at 10:19 pm
Dear Judy Berube. Hey I am just in tonight catching up. I saw your post about Gabbiano. Thank you for posting that workout. I am wondering when she might have her first race. We’ll have to keep close watch on her. I really appreciate your help keeping track of her.
I have been so busy at work the past couple of weeks, I will be so glad when it slows down a little. I am going on a mini vacation the week of the 20th and yep I am hopefully going down to Ocala. It’s going to be a fast trip this time, but I always love any time I can spend down there.
They have informed me at work that they are celebrating my 40th year with the bank on July 24th. From 9 to noon. I just wish all of you could come. I told them that they did not have to do anything, but they are insisting, don’t know for sure what all they are doing yet. Oh, my. My actual anniversary date is Aug 28. I am honored, and very happy about it. Just wanted to share.
Love You All
I saw a horse that I am very fond of also today. Wise Dan. Didn’t he do great. He is a beautiful talented Colt isn’t he.
Goodnight everyone.
Oh, I started to work at the bank when I was just a baby…………..that sounds better doesn’t it. I actually started working there right when I turned l9. Oh, my gosh time is passing so fast……………………………….
August 12, 2012 at 8:45 am
Have a great trip Peggy N, so well deserved and
40 years congratulations !!!!
August 12, 2012 at 1:07 pm
Thank You Sign, I told them not to do anything but they are not listening to me. I do love a party. I am looking so forward to seeing the new babies in Ocala. I am going to stay for two days of the sales. The Select first day and then the next day. You can just lose your mind seeing those beauty’s can’t you.
August 12, 2012 at 4:04 pm
Dear Peggy N,
Try not to come back with one of those beauties, it will be hard.
Have a great time.

August 12, 2012 at 9:51 am
Except for that star on his forehead, he is the image of his mother. He even poses like the Queen. Great presence.
August 12, 2012 at 6:44 pm
Dear Max,
Zenyatta taught him how to pose !!!!
August 12, 2012 at 7:08 pm
So very true Max.
August 12, 2012 at 8:55 am
Dear Amanda:
Thank you once again. The Prince is just gorgeous. Great combination of Z and B. Hugs, JB
August 12, 2012 at 1:35 pm
Dear Judy,
This is the first time I have been involved with a foal, even from a distance. What a prize for my first experience. It’s really amazing how fast they grow. And just imagine what lies in the future for him. In this pose, he really looks regal. Marty R.
August 13, 2012 at 6:38 pm
Dear Mary, Amanda, Sign, Max, Jan, Pati and Z Fans:
The Prince looks so much like Z. He’s going to be a knockout as he develops. Just love the Boy. He definitely has poise and confidence too for one so young. Hugs, JB
August 13, 2012 at 11:23 pm
Oops. Meant the above post for you Marty (no Mary) sorry. Hugs, JB

Kris S is also very dominant.
August 12, 2012 at 8:10 am
A handsome boy indeed, and love the rolling pasture and fences in the background.
August 12, 2012 at 8:34 am
It is a thrill to see him growing and looking so healthy and happy with the backdrop of pastures and barns….truly Kentucky USA!
August 12, 2012 at 10:31 am
What wonderful photos! Too cute! Thanks to Team Z, Alys and all at Lane’s End. :)

Help ….its electronically challenged me…I have a virtual stable with equibase….thx to those who helped me get that up and running….just cant figure out how to remove a horse from my list….I would like to take a couple who retired off just to keep size manageable ….is this possible
August 12, 2012 at 4:55 pm
Go to equibase, click on my virtual stable. Manage my stable comes up and in front of the names of your horses is a delete box you can click on. Hope that makes sense.
August 12, 2012 at 11:19 am
Catch up time: @Terry Crow: those redneck jokes–my oh my, makes me slap my knees, or would if doing that wouldn’t hurt. As for Ms. JS, yes I do remember her and Lit de Justice, but have no more thoughts at this time. Do wonder how she is, though.
@Dottie, our dear Dottie, a very happy belated happy birthday to you. Same to our Mikey! :) ;-)
@Ashton: so nice to read your words. As others have said, we will never forget Kari.
@Cynthia H: what a great story about Dottie, you and the Winners’ Circle. Loved it and of course that is exactly what we would expect Dottie to say/do.
@Kim in Saratoga–enjoyed your night watchman’s story.
@Peggy N: yes, enjoy your trip and a big congrats on your milestone anniversary!! I am only a few years behind you where I work.
@Vicki near Hollywood Park: YIKES!!!!
@ALL: we recently learned–after the fact–that Rightful Image had spent some time at San Luis Rey Downs doing swimming exercises! (No,not for the Olympics.) He is now back “home” at Hollypark. We don’t have an exact update, but we hope to see him resume workouts shortly. Anyway, on the very remote chance that he would race while we are gone, can a couple of you keep an eye out and give a report later? As I said, it’s doubtful, but….just in case, Mucho Mucho Mucho thanks!!!! :-)
@Debbie G in Ky: on the spur of the moment I bought some post card stamps (remember post cards? How quaint.) for our Alaska trip. I found it amusing that the stamps say “Aloha” with a Hwn s-shirt on ‘em–when we are heading in the opposite direction. I laughed and told the lady behind the counter why I was laughing, but she didn’t get it, or was preoccupied, or perhaps it really was amusing only to me. Anyway, I know Aunt Lee in Pgh will enjoy getting a card–now I need to think of nine others! Time was I was once a post card freak…loved getting and receiving them. Ah, those were the days…sigh.
@All, also very sad about Winter Memories. She was mentioned on a local morning radio show today. But, good to know she is okay….just not for racing. Terry Crow, I’m sure you have heard Roger Stein (speaking of radio) mention his book. Friends of ours purchased a copy already.
And to Lane’s End—what happy, happy photos–so enjoyable to look at again and again!!! A huge high hoof to all of you there! :-) :-) :-)
August 12, 2012 at 1:08 pm
Anne-Good to hear from you. I have a lot of thoughts regarding JS, but I think that I will just let it slide.
August 12, 2012 at 1:31 pm
Anne, Congratulations to you as well. It just doen’t seem like that long to me. I am so jealous of you that live in california. I want so much to make it out there to visit. With all your state has to offer you have to know, my favorite things I want to see are Hollywood Park, Santa Anita, Del Mar. I will make it out there one day. I have told this before but I met Dan Hendricks in Ocala at the sale and he told me that if I was ever out at Santa Anita to come by and visit the barn. And, if I ever see him again I am going to tell him that I am going to hold him to that invite. Going to the races is nice but I like to go and visit the horses up close. Just nothing like that. I would love to go visit john’s barn as well and see Ebby.
August 12, 2012 at 2:58 pm
Great to hear from you Anne.
I am so sad about Winter Memories !!!
August 13, 2012 at 7:07 am
Anne-Roger’s book could be very interesting if he tells all he knows.-Please provide a review from youtr friends.

Dear All, I’m far behind in the Blog, but I want to check in to say that today is our dear departed Kari Bussell’s first celestial birthday. She posted many beautiful tributes to Zenyatta on youtube as “AnimalsRock4Love.” Kari will be in our hearts forever. I’ll repost below the poem I wrote for her just one year ago.
A Birthday Poem for Kari Bussell,
Videographer-in-Chief for Queen Z
(Now sadly departed)
August 12, 2011
On your special day, Kari,
We hope you’ll be merry!
For you we fill the air
With rousing cheers,
For throughout recent years,
You’ve labored ceaselessly
And with great care
On the fabulous tributes you make
For the sake
Of Z’s fame
So all will know and honor her name.
Your stirring creations
Are most fitting celebrations
Of Zenyatta’s magnificent feats
Throughout this great nation.
So by acclamation
Let this be Kari Bussell Day,
For you deeply touch loving hearts!
And may we present a birthday cake
And a tray
Filled with treats–
Maybe pear tarts?
In Kentucky,
Zenyatta too
Fondly remembers you
And hopes your day will be ducky.
She sends you her heartfelt thanks
For burnishing her name
And spreading her fame
In Thoroughbred ranks.
’Cross the miles hear her now neigh—
That’s her own way to say,
“Have a most happy birthday!”
August 12, 2012 at 1:09 pm

August 12, 2012 at 4:10 pm
@Anne from Paramount – I like your postcard story. I don’t know what to tell you about the girl that sold you the stamps. Maybe she was preoccupied like you said, because I think it’s funny! I appreciate you using the U.S. mail. I still like sending and receiving cards and postcards. I just wish more people did!
@Trina Nagele – Thank you so much for re-posting this beautiful poem for our dear Kari. She will live on in our hearts forever.
@Peggy (N) – Congratulations on your 40 years at the bank! It’s almost unheard of these days for someone to be at a job that long anymore. A high hoof for you!
It was a great Sunday. I visited Our Mims Retirement farm. To anyone that’s not familiar with it, it’s a farm for retired broodmares in Paris, KY. When I got there it was feeding time, so Jeanne, who founded and runs the farm, let me help out with the feed and then I helped her get all the horses in their stalls. I’ve never really been around horses that much, so this was a thrill for me. She is an amazing woman. She works so hard and she has devoted her life to these horses. She told me a great story about Hana Bride, who passed away this past Thursday. She was originally owned by the Mosses, but had been to several different homes since they sold her. Almost three years ago Jeanne got a very nice, handwritten letter from Jerry Moss thanking her for taking such good care of Hana and he also gave her a sizable donation. This was right around the time of the 2009 Breeders Cup, so you can just imagine how busy he was with Zenny and the BC, but he took the time out of his busy schedule to write her this nice letter. She said he still sends her a donation every year. The Mosses are such classy people. Love them!
August 12, 2012 at 4:31 pm
What a wonderful story about Our Mims.
Often when broodmares are no longer able to conceive they are “thrown aside”.
A lovely lovely story.
Thanks for sharing.
August 12, 2012 at 5:00 pm
Thanks, sign. What you said about the broodmares being thrown aside is sad but true. Jeanne was telling me some awful stories. It’s so sad that so many people are in it for just the money and not the love of the horse. Thank God for people like Jeanne and the Mosses.
August 12, 2012 at 6:42 pm
Such a very worth while endeavor.
All of those lovely broodmares who have given us their “children” so very much deserve the best.
There must be a lot of Estrogen at OUR MIMS, too much fun with all of those old girl. I am sure they have a lot to share.
August 13, 2012 at 7:10 am
Great story, Debbie. Thanks for sharing.
August 12, 2012 at 5:48 pm
Debbie–thanks for this great story. Our Mims is featured in one of Barbara Livingston’s Old Friends books–can’t remember which one. I think it’s “More Old Friends”.
August 12, 2012 at 6:14 pm
Thank You Debbie for the Congratulations. I am a people person. I guess thats made it a wonderful job for me. It sounds like you had a wonderful Sunday. I would love to visit there too.
August 12, 2012 at 4:26 pm
Is it just me or does Stonestreet seem to have a whole bunch of really nice 2 yr old fillies…..KK wins again…
August 12, 2012 at 4:30 pm
Oh yes,
You are right, they do have 3 or 4 nice 2 year olds.
Kuai Kate broke and won her maiden by 8 lengths or more and won
her first stakes race today with Rosie aboard. A very nice looking bay filly,
my favorite color !!!!
August 12, 2012 at 4:35 pm
Peggy N,
How could I have missed your post on a 40 year party…….wow, congratulations to you.
I only made it 26 years in banking and then needed a change so I got a job working as receptionist and appt maker at a vet clinic. Loved the patients especially when clients brought in new puppies and kitties. You should get a gold medal, too. Happy trip to Ocalla and remember to look for an Indy filly that looks a lot like Rags to Riches, I’d love to know what happened to her. Hugs
August 12, 2012 at 6:32 pm
Hey Sue, You know I always look for anything pertaining to A.P. Indy. These are going to be l year olds selling. So let me see I might have to look for Indy ‘s Sons or Daughters yearlings. I am trying to remember when Indy was pensioned. He had a colt in the sale back I believe in March (a Two year old) Yes it was March and he was gorgeous. I talked to him. (Yes, I talk to them.) I Told him I loved his dad. Mark Casse got him, but D. Wayne Lucas was on the phone trying to get him. I heard Wayne got cut off the line and lost to Casse. So sorry Wayne
So I will do some looking for you.
Sue all through my young life I wanted to be a horse Doctor. My Grandpa was having a fit. He thought oh my, a girl can’t be a horse doctor. Things have really changed.
Sounds like our minds were running along the same line as careers.
I am nervous about that party, but very happy
August 12, 2012 at 7:05 pm
Oh yes Peggy,
Please report on all of the AP Indy sons, grandsons/daughters and great-great gandsons/daughters. He will live on forever. I would love to see him, maybe next year.
And the Street Cry/ AP Indy (dam) just purchased at Fastig-Tipton will be another
AP Indy (Seattle Slew and Secretariat). Can’t wait to see her. What a combination.
August 13, 2012 at 6:38 am
Sign and Peggy N,
Oh yes I commented in an earlier post on that Street Cry/Indy daughter combo, wish they had names so we could put them in our Virtual Stables and follow them easier.
You two should go into Take Charge Indy’s facebook and look at the wall pictures, drool, drool, what a hunk he is, and from comments made he must be pretty big too. Hope he has a good year running before they stud him out at WinStar.
Peggy, thanks for keeping an eye out, boy if I lived closer I’d be down at the Ocala sales and Keeneland and Fasig-Tipton too. So sorry you didn’t get into Vet Medicine, we have a fantastic Vet school in Madison, Wi and there are a lot of women enrolled, although I did hear years ago that the men were accepted first. Times have changed, thankfully.
Just would like to add congratulations to all our wonderful Olympic athletes on the great job that they did!!
August 13, 2012 at 7:14 am
Peggy-=If it were me, I would prefer a female vet. The word empathy comes to mind.
August 13, 2012 at 7:13 am
Sue-How interesting. You have led a full life.
August 12, 2012 at 5:10 pm
Thank you so much for the photos, love you Z12, Ingrid.

This is TOO CUTE, 12 Z’s first carrots, all over the barn floor.
That is how it goes until he can chew them all up. It is sooo much fun
to teach them how to eat carrots, they roll around their mouth for awhile,
drop down on the barn floor, pick them up and then try and try to chew !!!

August 12, 2012 at 7:18 pm
Too Cute!
August 13, 2012 at 11:35 am
Cute photo – he sure made short work of those carrots it looks like.
August 12, 2012 at 7:02 pm
Zenyen,
Today’s Bloodhorse article, looks like she may not ride in the PC, unless there is “someone” who can make them overlook the rules. Corey Nakatani had the same issue in Aisa and was not allowed to ride in a Grade 1.
We will have to wait for the outcome, should be interesting !!!
“Del Mar stewards, however, confirmed that they apply the rules as they are in effect in England. And while several parties were looking into the matter, senior Del Mar steward Tom Ward said “there is that possibility” that Sutherland’s riding in the Classic could be in jeopardy.
Ward recalled an instance several years ago when U.S. officials upheld a suspension Corey Nakatani incurred while riding in Asia in similar, but not identical, circumstances.”

Wow. This could be a heckling day for her. If she loses GOD to Mike, she might have a heart attack, poor girl. But I think another jockey might get the ride for the one race if it is upheld.

Pulling for Chantal to ride Game on Dude in the classic. They are a “classic” pair.

On a sad note, maybe already posted, Australia’s 2010 Horse of the Year, Typhoon Tracy, died after foaling a colt by Street Cry. Colt is healthy. Peter Moody trained her and Luke Nolen, Black Caviar’s jockey, rode her. So sad!

Very sad turn of events. She was a lovely mare. RIP Typhoon Tracy.

Saw this on forum side too…..won 7 grade 1 races and appx 1.5 mil…..this Street Cry colt is her first foal…looked her up…she was quite a gal…I hope that her team can find a step-mom for the foal ….we know that’s possible because the LE team found one for Tasty’s colt…just so very sad

Carol. I sure would like to know how Tasty is doing, and how things worked out for 12TT and step mom. He was a sweet little guy. Step mom looked nice too.

Correction…it was 6 not 7 grade 1 wins and earnings of near 2.5 not 1.5….
….did some more reading….some great horses in her pedigree…including Roberto…

@carol. I noticed Roberto too. Typhoon has him in common with the Queen as well as Street Cry. So sad for this shocking loss. Her connections must be just devastated. Gone way too soon.

Makes me so happy and thankful that our HOY and Queen pulled through like the royal champion she is. I can’t even imagine how the Aussies feel about this. My prayers go out to the family.

*how sad and how horrible the Aussies must feel about this.
Sorry my mind thinks faster than my fingers can work.

Oh my goodness. RIP Typhoon Tracy.

@ max….i keep hoping LE will give us updates on TT and her colt and his stepmom…i do remember hearing that Tasty has been bred….next yr another chance at motherhood…she was always her own person….with her own personality…kinda feisty as i remember…

@carol. Yes, she is a spirited mare. I liked the photos of her standing guard over Z when Z was resting, definitely Z’s BFF.

Greetings everyone! I just wanted to drop in and say what a nice visit I had with Debbie G. over the weekend! We had a nice chat and Thunder and Oscar got some peppermints which they devoured! Debbie, thank you so much for the donation! It is greatly appreciated.
I spent the weekend setting up a couple of extra sites for donations and more information on the boys. I am not very computer savvy or creative, so these will be a work in progress! The first is a Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fund-For-Thunder/440330242678940. There are pictures of both Thunder and Oscar’s eye on it. I am not sure why the page does not come up in a search; is anyone familiar with Facebook that could help?
I also set up a campaign at http://www.indiegogo.com/ThunderandOscar. This is the website that raised over $700k for the bus driver that was bullied. They raise money through different campaigns that users can set up. You have to set a target goal; if you don’t reach this target, a larger portion of the money raised goes to the website.
I would really appreciate any donations; every dollar would help! But equally as important is just getting awareness out. If you could like these pages, share these pages, send out tweets…that would go a long way to accomplishing the goal as well.
Thanks so much for all you have done already!

Neat slideshow of great geldings, especially good ones for Lava Man fans. Also has excellent shots of John Henry for JAG and Native Diver for Terry C. Kelso and Forego are featured.
