Z’s Baby Shower at Santa Anita

SANTA ANITA TO HOST ZENYATTA BABY SHOWER;
‘IT’S A BOY’ POSTER FREE TO ALL THIS SATURDAY,
‘TEAM ZENYATTA’ AVAILABLE FOR AUTOGRAPH SESSION

Santa Anita Park will proudly host an equine baby shower in honor of the great Zenyatta’s newly arrived foal this Saturday, March 17. All on-track attendees will receive one “It’s a Boy” poster, free with their paid admission and will have an opportunity to meet “Team Zenyatta” in an autograph session prior to the races.

“The entire racing world is buzzing about Zenyatta’s new colt, who was born in Kentucky last Thursday night (March 8),” said Chris Quinn, Santa Anita’s Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Zenyatta is easily the most popular horse of the past 25 to 30 years and people are clamoring to see and learn more about her new baby.

“We want to thank Jerry and Ann Moss and the entire Zenyatta team for helping us to make this happen and we look forward to following the progress of Zenyatta’s first foal in the weeks and months ahead. I think all of us here at Santa Anita are hopeful that someday, we’ll get to see this precious horse race here in Southern California.”

“The Queen’s Dance,” a life-size painting of Zenyatta on post parade, will also be on display at Santa Anita on Saturday. This magnificent work of art, first unveiled during Breeders’ Cup week this past November at Churchill Downs, was created by Jaime Corum (whose posters and original artwork will be available at the gift shop this weekend).

Corum, along with members of the Zenyatta team, will be on hand Saturday and will participate in the Zenyatta autograph session which will take place from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Santa Anita’s East Paddock Gardens area.

Several charities, including CANTER of California Old Friends, Race for Education and EAGALA, which have been involved with Zenyatta throughout her legendary racing and now maternal career, will be represented at Saturday’s event.

First post time on Saturday is 12:30 p.m., with the Grade I Santa Margarita Stakes (won by Zenyatta in 2010) and the Irish Obrien Stakes headlining a festive St. Patrick’s Day card.

Be sure to check back soon for the new “It’s a Boy” photo gallery posted in the “photos” section of zenyatta.com

  10. Request; For the Zenyatta fans who are unable to travel to Santa Anita, would we be able to recieve the “Its a Boy” poster for us making a donation to a Zenyatta preferred horse retirement farm?

How can you help us out of state fans participate?

Also, will Santa Anita Breeder’s Cup have Zenyatta festivities such as at last years BC in Louisville?

    Thank you to Z’s Team

    1. Hi Mary, I ordered one direct from the Santa Anita Gift Shop located on their webpage under Santa Anita.com. They will be offered as long as supplies last so you may want to order one today.

Would you consider making the poster available by mail? Would make a great addition to my Zenyatta collection!
And, again, thank you to everyone from Team Z for the updates. Love, hugs, and high hooves to all involved!
    Cheryl

  13. Congratulations Zenyatta!!! You have a beautiful and handsome “Little Boy”

  14. Congrats girl!! He’s going to make a big bang and I think the name “Zen’s Legacy” would suit him well :)

  15. @ ALL Z’STERS
See you at SA on Saturday – rain or shine!

Our meeting time and location will have to be after the signing!

It it’s raining hard, we might have to meet indoors somewhere. However, the day is usually spent going to and from the paddock to wtch the races. Yes, we put in a lot of walking…

MOMMY ZEN ♥ YOU ARE JUST TOO CUTE!! ♥ PRINCE ALREADY KNOWS WHERE THE CAMERA IS :D

    {{hugs}} and peppermint kisses! xoxoxo

Auntie Judy (still talking about Our Queen and her Baby Prince!)

p.s. Sending good wishes to Tasty – I hope she is doing okay xoxo

    1. p.s. Happy “One Week Old” Birthday, Sweetie!! ♥

      1. Awww, Happy one week old Birthday little guy, Star Prince! (PrinZe)

    2. Hi JAG,

I only have access to internet at work. Can you please post the new meeting place and time before 4pm today? I so want to meet up with you all!!

      Raylene

      1. Oops! I forgot today is only thursday I can wait until tomorrow at 4pm thanks

        1. @ Raylene
I’d hate for us to miss the opportunity to meet Team Zen at the signing booth, therefore, I think we should meet AFTER the signing!

I’d say 1:00 outside the paddock gift shop. This should give us enough time to get our poster. If for some reason we miss each other, we can always be found at the paddock on the saddling barn side where the paddock numbers are between #1 and I think #5. Or, just before a race we walk uo to the area just before the wire… We mingle a lot!!

I’ll take my dumpling ID tag but if it’s raining I don’t want it getting wet and ruined. If I knew what I was wearing I could tell you, but that’s still questionable… LOL If the sun is out, I will be wearing my sun glasses….

I have staight blond hair and it brushs the top of my shoulders. I’m about 5’6″ (I used to be 5’7″” until I shrunk!) I don’t discuss weight :-P

If you could describe what you’ll be wearing or your hair color, etc.

Another way to pick us out of the crowd is if you hear: “GOOD LUCK MIKEY!”

I hope to meet you on Sarturday!
          Judy G aka JAG

    3. Despite the less than promising weather forecast, I hope all of you west coast Dumplings have a WONDERFUL time on Saturday. How special to be able to get the poster signed by members of Team Z! Dress warm now :-) If there is any light at all, the rest of us would love to pictures of the event!
      Sandy

    4. Thank you Z Team for the information on Saturday. I hope it won’t rain too much or it will spoil the occassion. That’s a darling poster. I hope I can make it this Saturday as I have a long drive.

Please let us know as soon as you hear about “Tasty”.

      Hugs to Zenyatta and Baby!

      Marilu

    5. If you have a Z Dumpling tag, please wear it. If you don’t, you’ll see ours, so say HELLO. The poster signing is supposed to be at 11:15 am, so line up early. If it is not raining too hard the crowd could be huge. If it is, they may move the location. I plan on being there before they open the gates, around 100:00 am. If it does rain too hard, why don’t they move it to that sheltered area by the entrance gates off Huntington Drive? It is that large area with TV’s where they sometimes hold private parties That way we all could stay dry! A Rubber Ducky I am not! A ‘QUACK’ maybe! LOL!

      1. I thought it never rains in southern California :-)
(Seriously, would one of you please give Dottie a hug from all of us?)

      2. The gates open at 10:30 am. I won’t be able to make the signing, I have to help set up for The Second Race fundraiser day but I do advise everyone to get in line ASAP after the gates open!

Karen, are you talking about the Seabiscuit Court? That would be a great area for the signing if it is raining. I hope you all stay DRY! :)

        1. Yeah! Duh!! That’s it! The name escaped me when I posted that! More than a senior moment there, as many years as I have been going to SA, Geez!

        2. Well, since they moved the ‘Biscuit into the walking ring, it’s kind of a dumb name for the area, don’t you think? ;-)

    6. All of you will have to tell us about what happens! I bet you will get some exciting news about who the next lucky boy is going to be.

    7. Have a great day at Santa Anita tomorrow. Wish I could be there with you.
Will be watching First Call on HRTV at 8:00 a.m. instead.

  16. I wish a lived closer. I would be there in a heartbeat! Best wishes Zenny. Hope you & 12 Zenyatta are doing good. I will be thinking about you on Saturday. Hope everyone that makes it to Santa Aninta has a great time. Love you always.
Hope Tasty is doing well. ^-^
Thanks Team Z for the update.

    1. Happy St. Patty’s day to all! ^-^

  17. I will be there! I can’t wait to see the full size painting, I have the poster but I am sure that seeing the painting in person will be wonderful! I will have to bring lots of tissue!
Plus we get a free poster, just to add one more item to my shrine.

LOVE YOU FOREVER AND EVER AND EVER!!!!!!!
    XOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOXOX

Does anybody know when they will unveil the statue?

    1. The statue will be unveiled at the fall race meet but I don’t think they have announced a date yet.

  18. Sounds like fun! Cute poster. Peace & Happiness!

  19. I’ll be there! It’s supposed to rain pretty hard Saturday, so everyone going dress warm and bring their umbrellas. Maybe the weather gods will be kind to us fans waiting in line, but I’m going to get my Zenny and Junior poster come hell or high water! Thanks so much for the update! Can’t wait for Saturday, except for the rain.

  20. ohh the prince knew already, how tp poise, he love camera already just like the mommy.I wish I could be their for the baby shower of 12Z . 21. Since I cannot be in California for the baby shower, I discovered the It’s A Boy poster may be purchased from the gift shop at Santa Anita. Thought those of you wanting one would enjoy receiving this news. Gotta love those ears!

    1. Thanks, Jean! I certainly appreciate the info.

  22. Zenyatta she is very sweet and lovable, she always cuddling her son,so sweet and adorable.

  23. Z.

How I wish I could be at your baby shower. I know all the Z’sters will
have a wonderful time. Looking forward to more baby pictures on your site.
Thank you Team Zenyatta for the update. Zenny as always kisses on your nose and 12z and TT too. Love you all. XOXOXOXO

  24. He is absolutely amasing and lovely foal, congratulation Zenyatta, I love you xoxoxoxoxo..:O)

  25. The Queen still knows how to pose – first thing she taught baby – so cute!

  26. This is such a touching time for all of us that have followed this fairy tale story. I get a lump in my throat seeing Zenyetta a her new foal. Hope to follow this story for a long time to come. Think we have another great horse in the making. Keep us posted! A huge fan!!!

  27. OOH…another bit of information from the Z Team. Thanmks so much for the info.
We will order our poster through the mail…great causes involved for sure!

  28. My adorable Zenyatta I wish I can go but unfortunate I live in Florida, I know you will let us know how the party was, hope you get many gift, you and your beautiful baby deserve all of them, and love you Ingrid Arnone.

  29. He is SUCH a cutie….. maybe him & Rachel’s foal will have a match race.

    1. May that never happen. Match races are dangerous.

    2. NO WAY! One would be a “winner” and one would have to “lose”. Why can’t there be room for more than one champion?

Last Match Race that I can think of ended with a fatality (Ruffian). So NO WAY.

Now if they should meet up somewhere and there are several other horses fine but match racing–not a good idea at all.

      1. I agree, Margaret. A match race feels too much like “who loses” is more important than “who wins” — and priorities all askew, in the first place.

    3. Match races are history.

  30. Wish I could be there :(
Have fun…I’ll be there in spirit!
