We don’t know if you’ve had a chance to see 2022 RRC LEXINGTON RIDERS but the Team is entered in the 2022 Real Rider Cup on July 9th in Lexington, KY. Hoping you can all join us in helping route them on!!!

    RIP More Than Ready. He will be missed but will live on in his offsprings.
    Exciting day at the races. Safe trip to all and I hope Richie does well and doesn’t embarrass his team. If it were a beauty contest, he would win hands down. Hope he can run like aunties Nest, Malathaat and Clairiere! Glad I don’t have pick winners in the Travers or Personal Ensign.

      Very exciting day at Saratoga! I was pulling for Richie to do well, too, and I totally agree that he would certainly win any beauty contest!
      Congrats to Malathaat, Johnny V. and all connections on a stunning win in the Personal Ensign!
      What about that Gufo! Congrats to him and all connections on winning the Sword Dancer today! What a brilliant run!!
      Congrats to Epicenter, Joel R., Steve A. and all connections on the Travers win!! They ran a fantastic race. I was hoping Richie would at least hit the board if not win (I was pulling for him); however, he and Sonny Leon took 4th behind Zandon (3rd) and Cyberknife(2nd). I think he did very well, and I do hope people and pundits will cease calling him a one-hit wonder or a fluke. The talent is certainly there. If he couldn’t win, I am very happy that Epicenter did!

    Greetings I’m a bit late but maybe I can join the chorus. I too was saddened to hear that More Than Ready had passed. Because of him my darling husband began to watch more races with and learn a bit more about the sport. He adored the name. Of course I felt the same about Gufo and was thrilled to see his come from behind win, which kind of reminded me of a certain mare named Zenyatta who won her races that way. I also don’t care what people say about Rich Strike, even though he didn’t win 4th is still respectable especially when running against a horse like Epicenter. It was just his day and no horse was going to beat him. I almost forgot does anyone know or heard anything about Clairiere she really didn’t run a good race at all, hope she’s o.k. May everyone have a good evening.

        Yes, hope all came back sound. That Jack Christopher after the race, was jogging out like a Zip-a-dee-doo-dah kind of day. Yes, he is way too cool and humble horse.
        Hoping we see Richie at 4. Mentally and physically he will be a force.

    I loved that Gufo won. One of the broadcasters said he was never going to bet on him again because he had let him down,etc. The horse proved he was not yet done. I agree,let’s not be in such a hurry to write Rich Strike off.

    Counting down the number of radiation days. It has been the pits, to put it mildly. Only 7 left.

          That Breeder’s Cup Classic 2010 — the MOST exciting win that wasn’t — Zenyatta won that race in every way except a nose. Yes, a winner even in defeat! Cruel fate.

    Good-bye to August!
    A very hot, humid and generally miserable month; however, the Saratoga meet is in August, and what a wonderful time we have had!! I can’t believe Summer at the Spa will be over soon. It has been so much fun. One day maybe I’ll get to go there; if not, I am so grateful to FS1 & FS2 for their broadcasts!
    Looking forward to the remainder of this week and sending wishes for safe and sound racing always!

    Happy Friday Z fans,
    Hovey’s scribe has returned from vacation so we’re back in business here. His “big news” won’t surprise any of his regular readers, but it has made our boy quite elated (and his UK fans too, no doubt!) Too bad we can’t just pop across the pond!

    Like many of those who have already posted, I can’t get my head around the fact that it’s September. Will be glad for some breaks in the heat if only that didn’t move us closer to the white stuff 😫.       Thanks for bringing us Hovis — hope Mum and Mini-mum had a lovely vacation! Yay, Hovis is to be returning to “Your Horse is Alive” and with a brand new book, too! Kudos to him and Karen!
      Well, you and I are on opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to the seasons, I guess. But that’s okay, I am quite used to being in the minority as far as desired temperatures go (75°F is plenty hot; anything more is Ugh!).

        I am with you. If it never got above or below 65, I would be happy. My daughter in Charlotte described the weather there as hotter than the back porch of hell. Not much cooler here in Indy. Of course, most anything beats snow and ice.

    Good luck to all of your picks in the races this weekend. I am the brave soul who picked First Caption instead of Flightline. I am a real Curlin nut and would pick a miniature horse if it were by Curlin. Am proud of Richie. He did not embarrass his fans at all. Hope he races at 4.

    Have you heard about the statue that has been carved of Medina Spirit at Old Friends? The wood is a chunk of dead wood and the artist has done an outstanding job
    It was 111 degrees here yesterday and two fires have resulted. I can hear the air tankers flying low over my house as the Air Tanker Base is four miles from my home.

        • The statue is nearly complete and the color is spot on. It was Bob’s idea and it was funded by the owner and other donations. Bob’s wife is on the Board of Director’s for Old Friends’.

          The fire has doubled in size but the weather will cool down this weekend. Cool down to the low 90s! Oh well. Thank you for your thoughts.

    Loved everyone’s comments. The fires seem to be getting closer this year. La Pine had a small 8 acre fire going that had me bringing out our escape things while waiting for Tommy to return from Bend. Luckily, all the smoke was from a much larger fire farther away. PHEW! May everyone both 2 and 4 footed have Sweet Dreams!

      I’ve been thinking of our Sheena ever since I heard. I expect she has had a conversation with Her Majesty! This certainly has put the world into a tailspin. Not sure how Charles can fill those shoes. I enjoyed seeing a pic of Her Majesty when she visited Claiborne Farm and was admiring Secretariat’s perfect conformation. Such a great horsewoman. Now we all have to get used to King Charles III.

        My heart goes out to the family, especially William and Harry. I think she was a huge comfort to them since the loss of their Mum.
