Good Morning Everyone!

I’m back….and so happy to be able to visit with ALL OF YOU again! Yesterday was a very, very exciting day for both TASTY and I. We were moved to the FOALING UNIT of Lane’s End…and when we are not outdoors enjoying ourselves, we now reside in the FOALING BARN!

Above, you see the guys walking us to our ‘new home and paddock area’. We are truly embarking on a brand new adventure in our lives.

It is quite exciting! We will still have our same wonderful grooms and caretakers. Everything in our lives as far as the people around us will remain exactly the same.

I must say, we are being very closely monitored all of the time…just to see if there is even the slightest change in our bodies.

What an exciting time!

Here we are getting to visit our new HOME and get acquainted with it! LUCKY US!

This is so much fun! Look how pretty it is here!

I know MY TEAM is planning some very loving things for ME to do during the next several weeks. It will be a great way for ME to productively use my time while I’m waiting to become a MOM!

    Oh Zenyatta, I am so excited for you and Tasty! You both look so pretty walking toward your new adventure – becoming moms! We all love you so much, darlin’ girl. Just feel all that love surrounding you and your baby as you get closer to the big day!

    Oh Zenny–I LOVE these pictures!! And-how kind of Lane’s End to post all of the videos so we can all know what “our” precios girl can expect. Surely,this really IS the most anticipated foal ever!! There are so many prayers flying heaven-ward for Z abd Tasty that they will both come through it all with flying colors.

    Have a great day exploring your new paddock and enjoy having your familiar “people” with you,continuing to make you feel safe and loved–for you surely ARE!!

    Do you have music playing in the foaling barn?? What kind do you like?? I like to leave classical music on for my cats so the house does not feel lonely when I am gone. Some times I leave TV–my little Star,the 3-legged one,watches TV a lot.

    Zenny- you are walking into the foaling barn as you seem to have approached everything- ears forward and full of confidence. This is SO exciting! It looks like the perfect place for you and Tasty to bring your babies into the world. I’ll bet your Ann is beside herself! I think we all are :) Love you, pretty girl. <3 <3

    To anyone who didn’t see it: Abigail in Montreal posted a link above to see some video clips of the foaling barn, Zenyatta’s new stall and Donna Vowles talking about their routine as pertains to mare care, foaling, etc. Very interesting and comforting!

    Dear Zenny,
    Love it when horses get to go to a new place the curiosity and wonderment is TOO CUTE. Love the photo of you and Tasty looking at your new surroundings.
    Just relax, don’t put pressure on yourself, don’t count down the days, that will
    only make the wait unbearable. Enjoy your relaxation and the activities planned
    for you these next few days. What a lovely place to bring your babies into the world.

    Now that it is February, this is very exciting! My granddaughter’s birthday is February 11 and mine is February 25. It would be fun to share one of those birth dates with YOU!

    How far is this paddock from Z’s old one? Will she and Tasty go back after they deliver? Or will she stay at this new barn til the baby is weaned?

    Just wonderful videos From Donna Vowels, Z’s new super caretaker and the Assistant Broodmare Manager. It’s so informative and gives a good perspective on just how closely these mares are watched and cared for, what goes on before, during and after foaling and the use of nurse mares when it’s absolutely necessary. I makes me feel like I’m almost right there. Of course, there won’t be a web cam, as Donna explains in one of the videos. Darn!

    I do have a question, if anyone knows. Donna refers to stitches being taken out of the vulva of a mare that is due to foal any day now. Does anyone know why the stitches were put in to begin with? If anyone knows, I’d so appreciate your sharing with all of us.

    Dear Zenyatta. Welcome home, Dottie and John!!! Wonderful to hear from you and Zenny today! Be sure to thank Sarah for some more great pictures! What a special post today, YOU AND TASTY MOVING TO THE FOALING BARN. The building is quite lovely as you said and you are one step closer to motherhood. You both look beautiful with your baby bumps!! I agree, Zenny, it is all very exciting. I know you must be looking forward to giving your foal it’s first kiss!! I am glad that they are working to keep the routine as normal as possible for you and Tasty. Everyone at Lane’s End is amazing and the video that Bonnie shared with Donna explaining everything was wonderful. They are taking very good care of our Queen! I will be looking forward to you sharing the loving things you and your Team have planned while you are waiting. You are all always so loving, we are just the luckiest Dumpling Z-sters ever!!!!!!!     All, I found a great video of Secretariat that I had not seen before. With all the anticipation and fun concerning new foals, I thought this was perfect, in fact it is titled “Gods Perfect Creature”. It begins with a picture of Big Red as a foal and then what an amazing horse he became. Isn’t that the hope of all breeders and horseracing fans at this time of year, another Secretariat!!! It may never happen, but such is what dreams are made of!

      how I wish I had been paying attention to TB horse racing during Secretariat’s time. ah well, at least I didn’t miss out on Zenyatta’s career!

        I remember seeing him on TV once. He was so far ahead that if you hadn’t been watching, you might have thought he was bringing up the rear. It was amazing. And like with beautiful Zenyatta, I was mesmerized and totally taken into the moment. I got to see more of Zenyatta on TV and she never failed to give me that kind of experience.

    Hi Dottie,
    I was just wondering if the sex of Zenyatta’s foal was checked and it’s being kept a secret until he/she is born or did the Moss’ decide to wait and be surprised? :)

      The Mosses want to be surprised. There may be an ultrasound technician somewhere that knows, but if so, s/he is keeping quiet.

        I am not sure like humans that foal sex typing is seen on a regular ultrasound;
        I think because of 4 legs and position there are special maneuvers that are used
        to do the foal sex typing and as you have mentioned it has to be done at a certain time because of size and position of the foal.

    You and Tasty sure are looking fabulous these days Zenyatta! Looks also like you have moved on to a very nice place, the foaling barn. Won’t be long and before you know it, you both will have your new little babies. I am truly sure that all your people at Lane’s End are taking the best care of you and will do everything they can to make your life safe, pleasant and truly happy.     Friends in Zen Nation: Eli Update: Eli took a turn for the worse last night and stopped breathing on his own. He is not responding to any stimuli….The MRI taken yesterday shows damage spreading in the left side of his brain. The swelling has to go down….. They are keeping his body temp at 94 degrees, to try to get it down.

    The family dynamics we are dealing with here, is unfortunately, not good, and is not helping with this situation. Please pray for Timmy, (Eli’s Mom, my dear friend) as she is also dealing with a daughter who is in complete denial and who has now dis-owned her mother.

    I am reluctant to post this not so good news in this very happy, upbeat world of Zenyatta; and all the excitement we are feeling about her and Tasty and the impending births of their foals. All I know is that I find support, love and strength here.

      Dear Kimberly–Please don’t ever be afraid to post something sad or unpleasant. We are all part of Z’s world but in the real world too. That’s the beauty of this site. We are extended family. When one hurts, we all hurt. When one rejoices, we all rejoice.

      Oh, I’m so sorry that you and your friend are having such a rough time and Eli is not improving as all had hoped. How sad when a family cannot pull together in a crisis, but it is such a good thing that you are there to support your friend in her time of need. Thoughts and good wishes and prayers for all of you.

      Sometimes in life situations like this, it’s so intense that some people exhibit behaviors to be regretted later. I will keep this circle of needy ones in my prayers. I am so sorry this is happening and I know it hurts your heart too.

      Continued prayers for Eli and his family. Unfortunately, I see this occur in many famlies in the trauma center. People grieve in many different ways to tragic situations. Hopefully in time his family will come together. For they will truly need each others support and love. Please keep us posted on Eli’s condition.
