Good Morning Everyone!
I’m back….and so happy to be able to visit with ALL OF YOU again! Yesterday was a very, very exciting day for both TASTY and I. We were moved to the FOALING UNIT of Lane’s End…and when we are not outdoors enjoying ourselves, we now reside in the FOALING BARN!
Above, you see the guys walking us to our ‘new home and paddock area’. We are truly embarking on a brand new adventure in our lives.
It is quite exciting! We will still have our same wonderful grooms and caretakers. Everything in our lives as far as the people around us will remain exactly the same.
I must say, we are being very closely monitored all of the time…just to see if there is even the slightest change in our bodies.
What an exciting time!
Here we are getting to visit our new HOME and get acquainted with it! LUCKY US!
I know MY TEAM is planning some very loving things for ME to do during the next several weeks. It will be a great way for ME to productively use my time while I’m waiting to become a MOM!
We’ll keep you posted.
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Hi Z……. Wow…….what an exciting time. It kind of gave me chills reading your post today and thinking about all the changes that will be happening for you and Tasty. Being a mom to two grown sons……makes me remember that last month carrying them. You are a little bit scared ….especially the first time…….but you want it over….and then you go to the doctor it seems way too much at the end. So I am sure all the attention you get will be just like that…..keeping a close on when that little one will want to make its arrival. Like I have said….enjoy your alone time….before you know ….that little one will be right under your feet. Hugs to you Z…..and to Tasty……. I cannot wait to see pictures of yours and Tasty’s foals…..also to know if a boy or a girl. :)

Sue-We would welcome a charter member from New Jersey. All you have to do is express your willingness to act as president of that chapter.

Wow! My first Redneck joke! I am so honored to be president of the Ohio chapter (meant to write that yesterday, and was about to do so when I realized there was a new post!).
Terry Crow
Sandy-I’m sorry if I jumped the gun. I thought I saw a post from you agreeing to the presidential appointment. My bad if you didn’t. However, since you have indicated that it is an honor for you, you remain president of the Ohio chapter.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Terry – yes, I DID agree. Just noting that this is the first time that my name has been “up there in lights” as belonging to a chapter.

I don’t think you jumped the gun; I got the impression that she consented
also.

Hey, Terry:
Denny’s is too up-scale for a southern proposal – that’s where you celebrate your anniversary.
Terry Crow
Sharon-Thanks for the clarification. It looks like we could use a charter member who would act as president of Georgia chapter. to give us advice on these matters. Interested?

Wait, Terry! Can’t I quality as a co-president of the TX chapter, since I HAVE taken lawn chairs to a drive-in?
Terry Crow
You would rank highly, that’s for sure. I always hesitate to name someone as a member unless they agree to it. You seem like a natural, however. Do you consent to being listed as a member?

I think member is the most appropriate as the President has been named.

Terry, I’ve never taken lawn furniture to the drive-in, but as a teenager I used to ride in the back way on my horse. It was all right with the manager as long as we stayed in the back. On a teenager’s allowance the admittance price was great—FREE.

The videos were wonderful that Lane’s End did with Donna. Gotta love the accent! Thank You for sharing the links.
Love the pics and wow, you’ve got One Big Baby Bump! Can’t wait for the prince or princess to get here! How exciting for you to be moved to the foaling barn! Are you and Tasty next to each other in the barn?
I can only imagine how anxious Anne and Dottie are! I know that I am and might wear down the carpet from pacing! lol
You and TT take care and pay attention to what the care givers are doing and saying.
Can’t wait to see what you’re family has planned for you in the next few weeks.

Dear Robin, I posted a poem for you above. Happy birthday.
Brenda S..Ontario, Canada
Welcome back Zenny, please thank Dottie and Sarah for easing our anxiety and getting back to us so quickly. You and Tasty are two very lucky mares, you live in beautiful surroundings and have such loving expert caregivers, but it’s still a very tense time now that you’ve moved to the foaling barn. Zenny, yesterday was exciting for you and for Vic – you moved closer to the next phase of your life as you crossed that little creek and Vic received an acceptance letter from one of the colleges she applied to. Now the tension and excitement increases, waiting for the mail and for your foal. My hooves are very firmly crossed, wanting the best for you and Vic, and I think that I’ll be a nervous wreck by March. Enjoy your new stall, it looks very nice, and I hope that you can still see Tasty. Hugs and kisses to you both.
Dawn Conrad / Colorado
Brenda, how great for Vic. Please tell her congratulations from me!!

I read this article today – what do you think? It has some valid points to it. Thank you Ann and Jerry, and Dottie for being our lifeline to Zenny. We can never thank you enough!

Interesting article. I do think we should be grateful for the information and the photos we are given and not be demanding more, but it is just human nature to want more because we care about Zenyatta so much. Lots to think about – thanks for the link.

This diary is a blessing to all of Zenyatta’s fans, the Z-sters, and Dumplings. Most of us know how wonderful it is that we have Dottie as Zenyatta’s spokesperson and interpreter of horse racing as it should be. Her Barn 55 Team and her Lane’s End Team have been super supportive and accommodating. We should keep in mind that before our Barn 55 experiences and Zenyatta’s diary, no one gave such extraordinary access with such grace. Zenyatta’s people have set a high precedent way beyond what was normally provided and way beyond and for longer than most would. For all that being said, it is one of the reasons we love Zenyatta and her people so much. I hope that everyone will understand that this is not the rule but a high privilege for each of us. HIgh Hoofs to all and to our community built from loving one huge heart, Zenyatta.
Brenda S..Ontario, Canada
The article confirms how very lucky we are that we get such detailed information about Zenny and Tasty, all courtesy of Mr and Mrs Moss, Dottie and John and Lane’s End. Just reminds to say THANK YOU more often.
Marty R / Colorado
Karen Gogue–Thank you for posting the link to that article. We definitely are very privileged to have so much news about Zenyatta. I don’t ever want to take it for granted. I would like to especially thank Dottie for all her efforts to keep us informed and educated about Zenyatta in particular and horseracing in general. Also many huge thanks go to Mr. and Mrs Moss for keeping Zenyatta current to the racing fans with all her and their own philanthropic work.
I’m not going to say this article is wrong, but many people develop a real attachment to certain horses and do wonder about them when they aren’t in the public eye anymore. That’s part of being human…we have emotions. However, attacking and making demands isn’t the way to get information, either. Stonestreet was very generous in allowing visiting days to see Rachel. I’m sure her fans would like that to continue.
Since most breaking horseracing news comes from horseracing media, I hope they get all the pertinent information concerning whatever they’re reporting on before it becomes public information.
signofthetimes
This is a really great article and so very true. Stonestreet was so very kind and gracious to let all of us know that Rachel and her foal needed a little TLC. It is very discouraging
that there was a lot of criticism for this very kind and caring thing that was done for
her.
Folks just forget what is was like when they had babies and how hard and difficult it is.
And for a horse to have a full grown foal that runs around like a wild man or woman;
and wants milk all the time after delivering in that same area is not fun for the horses
either.
STONESTREET IS AN AWESOME FARM and THEY TAKE EXCEPTIONAL CARE OF
RACHEL AND HER FOAL. Hopefully, they will continue to provide information about
her, but perhaps they have been burned and we will never hear another word about her colt until he is two and training on the track. And that is their right !!!
Jan S. / Houston
The article does have some valid points for sure. Thank you Mr. & Mrs. Moss, Dottie and John for sharing your beloved Zenyatta with us.

Karen, thank you for the link. Very happy that Rachel and Junior, what a cutie, are doing well, Everyday I thank God for Ann, Dottie, Jerry and John for all they do. You are so right, Z: this is VERY exciting!!! I pray that you and Tasty stay healthy, as well as your foals. Love you!
MIndy H (Uniontown OH)
Just wondering if they are going to breed Z again in thirty days ? Its very hard on the mares and I hate to see her become a breeding machine.
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
Actually, no, it’s not hard on a healthy mare. In the wild, mares have pregnancies avery year from puberty on. If the mare’s body doesn’t “want” to be pregnant, the pregnancy won’t last. Skipping a year doesn’t do anything for the domestic mare, and it makes it harder for her to get in foal the following year.
Zenyatta’s well being is monitored closely by everyone around her. If being rebred will harm her in any way, then they won’t do it. Otherwise she will probably have a new boyfriend in April.
Rosemary McCauley - So. Cal.
Breeding a mare back is not hard on healthy mares, as Laura said in her post. There is no reason to worry about Zenyatta being bred back this year. I do believe she will be bred in March, however, and not April (but that’s only my opinion). If you need any assurance at all on Zenyatta’s well being, just take a look back at her life history. She has had the best of the best of everything since she was born and that continues to this day. Her life history is well chronicled and if you look back on it, everything that has happened in her life happened FOR her, not TO her. Her connections aren’t going to change that.
signofthetimes
Dear Dottie,
Can’t wait to hear about Zenny’s second mate;
and of course her current foal to be baby Z/B.
I think the Mosses are going to have to build
a special barn for all of Zenny’s children so they
can all stay together when they are on the track.
They will be like Bernies; all competing against
one another.
How very much fun these next few years will be.
Thanks so much Dottie for keeping Zenny in our lives.
Jan S. / Houston
Very Cute Post..:)

Hi Zenny, this is all very exciting. I can’t wait for Baby Z to arrive! I hope you and Tasty like your new accomodations. Please take good care of yourself.

Dear Zenny,
I’m so glad you’re back (and it only took me ALL day to figure that out!). Hope John and Dottie had a good trip to Florida and saw lots of interesting young horses. The picture of you and Tasty going over the bridge to the next phase of your pregnancy is just great! It helps all of us “nervous Nellies” SO much to learn what will be going on during the next few weeks. MANY, many thanks again to Bonnie (and to Abigail for posting the link again today) for the Lane’s End videos about foaling. It is very comforting to see and hear Donna who sounds so professional and caring! Can’t wait to hear what your humans have planned for you as you await your foal.
Love from your Ohio friend, Sandy
@Marty R / Colorado
I probably posted this too late for you to see in the previous (very long) diary entry. I grew up in Lakewood!!!! Go Rangers (if you went to LHS). Now we need to hear what part of Cleveland Signofthetimes is from :-)
@Catherine Hicks
Praying for you and hoping for a good outcome today. Your description of your visit to Mayberry Farm yesterday was great reading!
Marty R / Colorado
Sandy,
I left Lakewood right after junior high school, Horace Mann. (Back then it was called Jr. High, not Middle School like today.) I’m still in contact with my BFF from then. This year marks 50 years since graduating from high school and my Jr. High classmates are having their reunion at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Sandy (Northeast Ohio)
Ha! I went to Horace Mann too! Just a couple of years ahead of you. Isn’t this amazing?
Marty R / Colorado
Sandy, Just another example of what a small world it really is. If we’re just a couple years apart, we probably passed in the hallways at HM.
Wolf
Ms. Z:
Are they going to let you raise your baby, or will he/she be put on a nurse mare? If he/she goes to a nurse mare, what happens to the nurse mare’s baby?
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
She will raise her foal unless there is a reason she can’t (can’t nurse, rejects the foal, is ill). According to the broodmare manager in one of the links Abigail posted, the farm that LE uses for nurse mares doesn’t send them to slaughter or anything. The foals are raised by another mare or if old enough, are taught to drink formula from a bucket.
Celeste in TX
Thank you for the great photos of your short journey across the farm to further your role as a mom to be! What an exciting thing – to move to the foaling barn. You and Tasty look so beautiful at this stage of your gestation and I am so excited as the big days get closer and closer. Whee!!! Can’t wait, but I am always grateful to your Dottie and John and Ann and Jerry to be so generous with sharing the lovely pictures and all the information about you. Thank you!

Positively endearing message, precious Zenyatta. All of us who adore you stand ready to love you even more (if that is possible) when your foal is born. Our number one concern is always–YOU.
Friends, it’s time again to ask ONE friend each to befriend Zenny on FB. It would be so great to get her to the big number before the foal is born…
