Good Morning to ALL!
Yesterday was so much FUN! The 60 MINUTES Crew was here to take photos of ME for an update they are doing. All went very well! I gather they are going to replay part of the segment they did on ME in October and then add the current updates! From what we are hearing, they will show it as part of this SUNDAY’S program!
When my paddock mates and I were out in the field playing together, I was so tempted to get down in the field and roll! Then as I was almost at that point of getting down on my knees, I saw all of the camera crews arriving and thought it would be much more fun to go over and greet all of the people. I can roll in the field anytime. So, that’s what I did! Everyone was so kind! I can’t wait to see their footage. HOPE I LOOK FABULOUS!
This is TOO CUTE! Dottie called Dawn Conrad yesterday to congratulate her on winning the contest and to set up the shipping arrangements for her prize, the ZENYATTA BRONZE! Dawn is so sweet…and so excited! Dottie did ask her to promise to share photos of her with ME so we can all get a chance to see them. She said she would do so, for sure!
My pal, ZAZU, works again this weekend for the Kentucky Oaks. Then if all is A-OK, she will be flying on the Tex Sutton plane for the race. I think this is very exciting! Wishing her well, for sure! I know Dottie is busy making travel plans, just in case, and getting licenses and fees paid in advance. Like I mentioned before, there is a whole business side to racing…and thank goodness I only had to worry about BEING AN ATHLETE! That’s also true for my other stable pals. It is ALWAYS ALL TAKEN CARE IN ADVANCE FOR US!
I gather there is a current piece written about MY BARN 55 STALL and how it still has so many of my things in it. I thought you’d enjoy reading it! Here it is!
Have a fabulous FRIDAY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Happy Birthday to our Beloved Barbaro. Miss him so much. Time has not healed the hole in my heart where he dwelt. You made is easier to bear and let me love again. For that, I am eternally grateful and in turn, I will love you till the day I die. Who knows, maybe even after that.
Denise
Z – you are a MOVIE STAR – You are so beautiful in so many ways !!! Thanks to John & Dottie for sharing this picture !

Hi Zenyatta. Wow, 60 Minutes. I immediately got up and set up the taping of 60 Minutes this Sunday. I can’t wait to see the new footage. I know you looked fabulous but also would have like seeing you roll in the mud!! Loved the piece on your “shrine” at Barn 55. No one will ever be able to fill your shoes! Perhaps in three years, your baby could reside in your barn 55. That would be awesome. Love you so, Angel in Disguise. Sweet dreams, eat well, stay dry and toasty and have loads of fun, including mud rolling with your BBFs.

Z – I’m looking forward to ZAZU next week, as she has been on my HW for a while, she’s such a PGH. AND also your ’60 Minutes’ segment. Maybe THEY will update us on your ‘Blush, Blush’ current breeding situation?
Inqusitive minds DO want to know :)

Dear Zenyatta,
So very much looking forward to the new 60 Minutes feature about you. I wonder how many horses have had two shows? Not many, if any, I am sure. Just another measure of how very, very special you are. All the best to you, your team and all who love and appreciate you.
Sharon Tupper
Thank you for the update. I hope for a good trip for Zazu in the Oaks next weekend. Who knows, maybe she will win. That would be great if she did. We haven’t heard anything about another breeding to Berni. Has this happened already? I will be watching the 60 min section about you dear Zenyatta….
Tere Thomas
Thanks for the link – great story! Of course it’s a shrine – it was your stall!! Love you Z.
Dawn Conrad
Dearest, Zenyatta. So looking forward to the 60 Minutes piece!!! The crew was very lucky to be able to spend quality time with you, Zenny! I watched the short special on the making of the first segment that aired. It was amazing how you effected those who thought they were doing a simple story on a racehorse; they quickly realized how absolutely remarkable you are. I am sure you will look fabulous, you always do, beautiful. Thank you for your kind words to me!! Talking with Dottie was wonderful. I was working in my office and one of my staff informed me that there was a Dottie holding for me. I was so excited, I had to remind myself to breath. When you have never met someone that you admire so much and all of sudden they are on the phone, an immediate brain freeze occurs. There were literally hundreds of things I wanted to say and ask. She was amazing and we got all of the arrangements made for the delivery of #19!!!! I promise I will send lots of pictures as soon as I can, Zenny. I understand that Mr. Commons may still have a shot at the Derby, I hope that dream comes true. Very excited about Zazu and my hooves are crossed on her behalf. It was wonderful to hear some news about your amazing crew at Barn 55. I cannot imagine how much they miss you. It is a little after 10:00, so I’ll say sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, BARBARO, YOUR MEMORY LIVES ON IN OUR HEARTS.
@Amanda Gilliland and all those who have been hit by the recent storms. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. The images being televised are absolutely heartbreaking.
@Kari Bussell – Hope everything is well with you!
@Shari – How fun that the class wrote some notes to Uncle Mo, I am sure he will love getting them!
@Shanda Hooton – I watched the Royal Wedding today, which was amazing. Looks like William and Kate are not the only ones to find true love. You and your boy were meant for each other.
@Charlotte Farmer – How fantastic that you are trying to give Noor the respect he so richly deserves. Last year, I visited Walmac Farm in Lexington. I went there to not only see their amazing stallions, but to pay my respects to a remarkable racehorse, his name was SHAM. In the book, Sham: In the Shadow of a Superhorse by Mary Walsh, Marcia Skiles, a representative of Walmac wrote the following about this site: “I came to Walmac in July of 2001. That first summer, I took many lunch-time walks to explore the farm. One day I was quite surprised to stumble across two graves close to the office. One grave was for Brent’s Prince, the other was Sham. Sham’s grave was adorned with silk flowers. I wondered who had placed them there. I asked everyone around the farm if they knew who the admirer was who placed the flowers on the grave. No one knew. I continued to walk by the grave every so often and noticed that the flowers were changed every few months. I have now been here for nearly seven years and in that time neither I nor any other employee has seen the mystery admirer visit the gravesite. But his grave is ALWAYS adorned with flowers. Obviously someone loved that horse. Enough to faithfully visit him fifteen years after his death.”

What an HONOR for Dawn to not only win the Z bronze, but to receive a personal phone call from Dottie herself! I can’t imagine how “giddy” Dawn is with excitement. I am SO VERY happy for you Dawn! I know you will cherish each and every moment of this experience for the rest of your life!

I am so excited. I will be watching the 60 Minutes segment this Sunday. Thank you for the info. I love you Queen Z.

Really looking forward to 60 minutes segment (update) on dear Zenyatta. From what I have gathered here, it is this Sunday? Yes? I will need to check program. BTW – Zenny looks …well, like she always has looked – superb. I am quite curious regarding “Blush, blush, blush….” Hmmmm.
Prayers, prayers, and more prayers for those in the southern states, currently in the wake of those deadly tornadoes.

There was a Royal Wedding to watch today; very exciting, the British really know all about pomp and circumstance and I of course, marveled at the beauty of the horses. However, I’m much more impressed that we will get to see you again on 60 Minutes. How lucky we are to have you in our lives. Thanks to Team Zenyatta. Go Zazu and maybe we will see Mr. Commons in the Derby! Too fun.
Rosanne Glynn
I laughed so hard when you said you were about to roll over on your back on the grass until 60 Minutes pulled up. That was funny! I wish you did so they could have got a video of that! I will be watching this Sunday! That’s how I found out about you to begin with! Love you baby Girl!!! xooxoo

@Dawn Conrad-I really liked the story of the mysterious placement of flowers on Sham’s grave. He was a very good racehorse & would have been “the one” had he not raced in the year of Secretariat. He finished a gallant second in the Kentucky Derby after ripping two teeth out in the starting gate & bleeding the whole way. His second place finish is at least the fourth fastest time ever in the Kentucky Derby. A long time ago, my family had gone to Kentucky to visit the horse farms. It was there, we met Sham & listened as the guide talked fondly of him. He must have been an extremely sweet horse because my brother had his picture taken with him holding onto the halter.
@Amy K-Thanks for the heads up on Black Caviar. I had never even heard about her until someone mentioned her on the diary. She is a sprinter & is ranked number one. Another great mare to watch!
@Kari Bussell-Have not seen a post from you & hope everything is ok.
Zennie-I look forward to seeing you on 60 Minutes. You sure know how to strike a pose for those cameras!

I can’t believe it’s the last day of April! May approaches fast, and with it, the DERBY! I read in several articles that it’s on May 1, but then I read it’s on May 7. What day is it on?!?!?
Luv you, Z…

Good Morning, You Movie Star, You
the weekend is shaping up nicely, great races on tv, and to round it off perfectly, the grand finale, YOU.
And it’ll be definitely a ‘Marilyn’ Monroe moment, the state of being ‘Blond’ is not a mere color but instead nthg but ‘Attitude’. And you fit the phenomenon created by the greatest ‘Blonde’, ever, intelligence, the cool glamourous showmanship, finding quiet amusement in it all. Yes, you’re a Marilyn.
Have a great day :) :) :)

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, You look so beautiful in the photo above. I love seeing you stand with head held high ears up, you have the most amazingly perfectly porportioned body. Your beauty just draws people to you. I am really looking forward to the CBS 60 Minutes Sunday night. I’m pulling for Mr. Commons and ZaZu. I love hearing they have kept your Barn 55 stall for your memories. Now “That is just too cute!” Zenyatta, you are such a Blessing to me and you don’t know what it means to have this site to read about you & others to give my mind a break from all the tradigies here in Alabama. It’s just overwhelming. I didn’t know till yesterday how bad Dadeville & Lake Martin did get hit. They are still finding bodies over the state. I am so lucky & Blessed for my health & safey. I appreciate Dottie for keeping your words & photos available and to have a place for the Fan Family to share. I send prayers to all who were affected by loss of life & homes by this storm.
@ Susan in Tn. Thanks for your thoughts. I hope all is well with you & your family. I saw more damage today in Tenn on CNN.
Thanks to the following for your concern & kind thoughts for my safety & well being.
@Trina Nagele,Sue Nolen,Kathy Kimber,Dawn Conard,Sharon,Paula Higgins, DJ.
@ Shandra Hootin- what a womderful & special thing to give an OTTB a home. Sounds like you & he had a bond from first meeting.
@Dawn Conard- Congrats again and I would have been speechless too. That is just so cool to have #19 in your home. Can’t wait to see the photos. Thanks for sharing Sham’s stroy. I would love to know who puts flowers on his grave each month. Sham surely lives in their heart forever.
@Sharon-I haven’t heard anything about Troy. I don’t believe surrounding areas of Montogmery was not hit.

Dearest “Sweet Z”
Today is a beautiful day here in So. Cal. with the sun shining through and making my heart a grateful one. My prayers are with the tornado victims and the tremendous losses our friends in those states endured. Our President and the Red Cross are doing their utmost to help with the immediate needs. Red Cross is taking donations, even a small amount is so welcome at this great time of need for just the basics, clean water, refuse removal, etc.
…………….
Sweet “Z”, you continue to pull us up in our thoughts and kindness towards one another. Your gentle nature is an inspiration. Good luck to your Sarbonne and Mike today at HP.
……………
Amanda G. So good to read your posts again. I remember you once wrote that you were from Dade and your horse was Dale! That was how I remembered your area : ) I am surprised Jennybird slept through the night. My umbrella cockatiel “Michelle” would always wake up with the slightest earthquake or tremor and flap her wings loudly and call..”Darla, Darla…Shawnee! (our Chihuahua) how are you?”
