Good Morning to ALL!
Yesterday was so much FUN! The 60 MINUTES Crew was here to take photos of ME for an update they are doing. All went very well! I gather they are going to replay part of the segment they did on ME in October and then add the current updates! From what we are hearing, they will show it as part of this SUNDAY’S program!
When my paddock mates and I were out in the field playing together, I was so tempted to get down in the field and roll! Then as I was almost at that point of getting down on my knees, I saw all of the camera crews arriving and thought it would be much more fun to go over and greet all of the people. I can roll in the field anytime. So, that’s what I did! Everyone was so kind! I can’t wait to see their footage. HOPE I LOOK FABULOUS!
This is TOO CUTE! Dottie called Dawn Conrad yesterday to congratulate her on winning the contest and to set up the shipping arrangements for her prize, the ZENYATTA BRONZE! Dawn is so sweet…and so excited! Dottie did ask her to promise to share photos of her with ME so we can all get a chance to see them. She said she would do so, for sure!
My pal, ZAZU, works again this weekend for the Kentucky Oaks. Then if all is A-OK, she will be flying on the Tex Sutton plane for the race. I think this is very exciting! Wishing her well, for sure! I know Dottie is busy making travel plans, just in case, and getting licenses and fees paid in advance. Like I mentioned before, there is a whole business side to racing…and thank goodness I only had to worry about BEING AN ATHLETE! That’s also true for my other stable pals. It is ALWAYS ALL TAKEN CARE IN ADVANCE FOR US!
I gather there is a current piece written about MY BARN 55 STALL and how it still has so many of my things in it. I thought you’d enjoy reading it! Here it is!
Have a fabulous FRIDAY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dearest Queen,
With or without mud, dear Z, you always look fabulous. And there’s no doubt that 60 minutes filmed your good side, because all your sides are excellent! :) I’ll be watching, for sure.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Zazu (and my horses hooves are crossed, also)that all goes well with her work out and she’ll be on her way to the Oaks! Yippee for her! As for you, dear Z, I hope you are still enjoying retirement, the delicious blue grass and your barn pals. I so miss seeing you on the track, but I love the fact that you’re healthy and happy! :)
Love you,
Stel
Cheryl
Well OF COURSE you would know if a parade of cars show up at Lanes End they are coming to see THE QUEEN!! Who else would warrant such a visit?? – just you! Love you so much – (and you look fantastic in this photo!)

D.J., Out of respect to Zenyatta & professionally, I can’t post where to get Ele’s music on Zenyatta’s page. DJ, I hope you understand. I’ll be happy to tell you. Just e-mail @ Jennybirdage@gmail.com
Zenyatta, I love you so much. I just had to tell you again how much ” I’m so looking forward to seeing you on TV again.”I believe 60 Minutes will be doing updates on you for a long time to come. We all love you and want to know how you are doing. I hope you have a beautiful day in Ky. I forgot to tell you in the 1st post. I’m a little distracted with everything going on here. Sending Hugs & Kisses To You From Alabama With Love, Amanda G.
DJ
Dear Amanda, I e-mailed you…thank you!
Paul
Zenyatta, feel free to roll anytime you feel like it. I’m sure you had lots of fun with the 60 Minutes crew and that they had lots of fun with you. I will most likely be watching 60 Minutes this Sunday since I have heard that your piece airs then. Good luck to your buddy Zazu in Kentucky this weekend. Kentucky seems to be having all the action for a good long time. I can’t believe it is already almost time for the Kentucky Derby.
Janie
@ Anna Wiley: the Kentucky Derby is always on the first SATURDAY in May, so this year it’s on Saturday, the 7th. Hoping Zenyatta gives us her picks – but maybe she’ll be discreet and keep that to herself. As long as they all come home safe, that’s all that really matters to me.
Terry Crow
@Anna Willey–The Kentucky Derby is always ran on the first Saturday in May and, therefore, can be run as early as May 1 and as late as May 7. This year, it happens to be on May 7. Hope this helps.
Molly
A 60 minute segment sounds great. I’m in. But hey, Zenyatta Team, when do we get a “Zenyatta” book or movie? This fan cannot get enough Zenyatta. Love Ya, Zen.
Karen Mitchell
Dear Zenyatta, As always, your posts and all the comments make me so happy, even when there are reasons to be sad. You are truly one in a million and adored by so many. What a gift you are to all of us.
I loved the story about Sham and the flowers at his grave site. Heart horses live on forever in the memories of those who loved them. Barbaro is one of those horses for me, and I wear his blue “Riding with Barbaro” bracelet every day. Happy birthday, dear soul.
@Dawn Conrad – huge congratulations again on your winning the Zenyatta bronze #19. Although tens of thousands love her passionately, it couldn’t have gone to anyone who loves her more than.
Can’t wait to watch 60 Minutes, especially knowing I’ll be joined by all of her fan family.
Z, have a wonderful day with your friends and family. Love, Karen
Aaron
Zenyatta – go for it! Lights, Cameras, Action, Roll! It would have been a great sight indeed for all to see on 60 minutes of you rolling in the mud, grass, snow, whatever. Just your regular self having a light hearted moment in your natural state and moving forward with the next chapter of your great life! We all have to do the same for we are never in one phase for long.
Donna
Z looking forward to seeing you on 60 minutes.
I was so excited about the Royal wedding yesterday especially seeing all the magnificent horses in the parade.
Also if anyone is interested I just watched the English 2000 Guineas on Youtube. The winner was FRANKEL named after the great trainer who died, what a horse, he reminds me of NIJINSKY who I saw run when I was young.
What a three year old, I think he is better than SEE THE STARS.
Judy Miller
YIPEE another show! Can not wait! You go Girl!
Lady Renee
In preveiw of 60 mins they state you are going to be a mommy!!!
KIMBERLY
Hi Queen, I can’t wait to see you on TV tomorrow. You have alot of loyal fans wanting to get a glimpse of the “REAL QUEEN!!!” YOU WILL BE FABULOUS!!!
Dani
I watched this race live this morning and was just in awe. He broke from the outside post and had a pace horse which he obviously never needed. A new superstar. What a great race.

Zenny…I need to have you visit with my 2 geldings, they don’t seem to been able to resist a good roll in the mud as you did. They feel it their duty after I have just groomed them and turned them out to cover every inch of their body with mud!
Boys will be boys! My mare can be turned out for hours and she comes in just as clean as went she went out!
Can’t wait to see the update on 60 Minutes!
Max
@Dani. An excellent race video. Frankel looks a lot like his great grandfather, Northern Dancer, right down to his socks. Thank you for the link.
Zenyatta looks as beautiful as usual in her photo at Lane’s End. She is stunning.

Kentucky Derby Party at Santa Anita Racetrack Arcadia, CA. Benefits TROTT. Just a reminder to anyone in So Cal who would like to come out and have fun watching the derby. Don’t forget your hat, there is a hat contest. Guess what colors mine will be?! Full details, and u can buy your tix, on Trotts website. For those who may not know of Trott, they retrain racehorses for a career off the track. Unfortunately, not all retirees are as lucky as our Zenny. You can make phone bids on the silent auction items, there are some great items from Mike Smith (goggles he wore for Zenny’s win #18), Street Cry, Curlin, and many more. Also items that one cannot find in any store! Please check out the invite on Trotts web site. http://www.trottusa.org/kentucky_derby_party.html
Can’t wait for 60 Minutes, or Dawns photo’s.

Beautiful Zenyatta, You grow more magnificent as time passes. I miss you.

Dear Zenny, Thanks to your admirer, Sharon Call, who posted the link, I’ve discovered the Horse and Man blog page with a fantastic (and I mean that in more way than one!) story about Noor—read it and you’ll see what I mean. I’m excited to learn about this blog, which has great stories, adorable pictures, and the Bucket Fund to help all sorts of horse rescues. I’m going to link to today’s TOO CUTE photo page—check out the little foal whose four legs went out from under him each in a different direction on a little patch of ice (no worries, he’s just fine). Be sure to click on the home page too to get the story about Noor.

@Sharon Call—Thanks so much for the link.
@Shanda Hooton—Congratulations on reaching for your dream and getting that dear retired thoroughbred. Please keep us in the loop as you integrate him in your family’s routine.
@Amy—Thanks for the news about supermare Black Caviar’s next races on May 14 and May 28. I hope she can continue that 12–race winning streak.
@Donna and @Dani—Thanks for the heads up on the new superhorse Frankel in England.
Many thanks and best wishes always to all of Team Z.
OraJean Stevenson
Dear Queen-Z & Team-Z,
I’ll be watching “60 Minutes” tomorrow evening. It will be great to see new footage of you and your pals. Thanks for giving us advance notice of your segment.
Good luck to ZAZU. Hope she runs in the Oaks and does well. Have a good trip to KY, Churchill Downs, and Lane’s End Farm.
Hugs to you all. Fondly, OraJean

@ Max and Dani
As I said in my earlier post FRANKEL looks just like NIJINSKY who is out of NORTHERN DANCER, he was amazing to watch. He won the English Triple Crown which is much tougher than the American Triple Crown.
The 2000 guineas is a mile, the Derby is 12 furlongs and the St Leger is 14 furlongs.
No horse has won it since he did in the 70’s.
Kathy Kimber
Sham was really a great horse, he just happened to be born in the wrong year.
Maryyette
Thanks so much for keeping us up to date, have alerted all my family to watch 60 Minutes this Sunday! I do hope there is a DVD released which includes both the Oct 2010 segment and this one.
Also, what a delightful picture of you on today’s diary post! Zenyatta – you are always alert and your intelligence and personality just shine – not to mention you are also a very beautiful horse –
We love you, sweet girl!!
Max
@Donna. I can see why you love Nijinsky. He was a very great runner, good looking and a character. He probably inherited this temperament from Northern Dancer who liked to bite. Winning the English Triple Crown is indeed an accomplishment and it would be nice to see another Dancer progeny do it. Go Frankel.

@ Max
I have to wonder if he can even stay 12 furlongs he is so fast.
But yes GO FRANKEL
Linda from Vermont
Can’t wait to watch 60 Min. on Sunday!
Jane Wade
I’ve got 60 Minutes set up to record so we can watch it over and over again! :-)
Can’t wait to see you again…we miss you!
