Good Morning All,
I am just getting ready to leave Barn 55 at Hollywood Park and go to the plane. I can’t thank everyone enough for the kindness, generosity and love you have all shown me during my racing career.
We have had a terrific ride together…20 fabulous races over a 3 1/2 year span. I have been able to travel and visit with so many wonderful people. I have made so many wonderful friends.
Last night I spent some time just thinking about how GREAT it has been. I looked outside and saw the wonderful area I have grazed on for years. I have shared it with so many loving friends: After Market, Life is Sweet, Tiago, Giacomo, Zardana and Harmonious to name a few. It has been a blast!
Yesterday’s ceremony at Hollywood Park was so special. So many of my dear fans came to greet me. I had fun looking at everyone in the paddock, up on the stairs, and in the balcony. Then walking to the track for the last time…was a bit emotional…for me. I knew I wasn’t running…as all of my normal pre-race stuff was not happening…and my dear Mario…was not wearing a NUMBER. (That was a big clue.) I paraded and went to the Winners’ Circle…even did an encore for my 2 presentations from the Dodgers and the San Pedro Winners’ League. It was special!
John is looking at me now. It is time to bundle up (I’m going to heavy coat weather….good thing I have a great wardrobe)…and get on the van.
My 2 dear friends are in the picture in this post…Dottie and Sophie enjoying the night on my ‘grazing grass’.
I will miss everyone…HUGS, HUGS, HUGS!
Again…THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU…for EVERYTHING!
I will keep in touch! I would not miss visiting with all of you for anything.
Blessings to all!
With love,
Hugs~

GOD I LOVE YOU SWEET GIRL! I just watched the 60 Minutes piece again & Mike was SO RIGHT- a gift from GOD! May he watch over you today & always. Dottie, I don’t know how you did this post without crying your heart out.
John…I cannot thank you & the Mosses enough for how well you have treated Zenyatta. I think Zen was placed in your hands purposefully, intentionally, & not randomly. Not to get religious, but, she was graced to be with all of Team Z!
My heart goes out to all of you today.
Thanks again.

DOTTIE, I AM SORRY I DID NOT MENTION THE

Becky, that is so true. I wouldn’t be a FOZ if I hadn’t been a FOB first.
I know our Queen can feel all the love we have for her and her people. That should help keep them warm.
Lindsey
Hope you’re bundled up for the trip to Kentucky! It’s in the low 20’s today and I hope you like snow haha! I can’t wait to see you, I’ll be at keeneland tonight to welcome you to the beautiful state of Kentucky!!! SO EXCITED!!!!

Safe travels Sweet Zenny. Maybe Life is Sweet can fill you in on all those cute studs. I am going to miss you so, but I plan on coming to KY hopefully to visit you.
Jeanne
You and your connections were the “silver lining” for horse racing. Thank you–it has been a fabulous ride! I will be at Keeneland tonight to welcome you to Kentucky! God Bless and may you have a long, peaceful and happy life at Lane’s End!

You’re simply the best. Better than all the rest. Stay warm in Kentucky, Z, until spring returns and a pasture of bluegrass roll outs a welcoming carpet fit for a queen.
linda
I hope that plane you’re traveling on is a big one – because an awful lot of people’s hearts are going with you.
Zen-Fan
Trying to keep a positive attitude & avoid many tears. So, I thought of some names for your first foal:
1. Win this One for Mom
2. American Spirit
3. Ann’s Girl
4. Moss is Boss
5. Baby’s Back
Now, the tears have come…does anyone know if the flight is still delayed?
XOXO

I was very gratefull that I was able to go to Hollywood Park for your farewell. You are the greatest racehorse that I have very been thankful to watch
Linda Sheriff
Zenny, I will be in Lexington to welcome you to Kentucky! Can’t wait to see you and Mike!
Sarah Powell
Once again the tears are flowing! Please post the video of her good-bye part at Hollywood Park. Safe travel to KY – It is cold in SC and even colder in KY. Keep us posted on this incredible champion!
debbie
Thank you Z for posing w/ me last night…..and special thanks to Mario for taking the pictures and the other gentleman for turning on the lights to get a better view of the Queen. I know you all had an early morning today after a very busy weekend! All the best! You are HOY in my mind!

So great to be able to continue to read of Z’s updates: Thanks! What a different story this could have been, had Z had other connections. Kudos and thanks and congrats to a group of humble, gracious, kind, compassionate and CLASSY individuals!
Retrospectiv
Best of luck with the flight!
Most of us by now have heard the rumour that Zen’s first ‘date’ will be with the pudgy old man, AP Indy. Given that he’s had some fertility problems in the past season or two, is there any word on who the ‘back up’ man may be should Indy fail to do the job?

You will stay in my heart forever…have a good trip and I look forward to meeting you someday in Kentucky. Your foals will be beautiful, personable and fast! just like you…This is just the next chapter in your life..beautiful Lady Z…Love, Love, Love…

Dearest Zenyatta,
Many years ago, God gave these words to a songwriter, as God knew that He would someday create you. God Bless you always.
May God bless and keep you always
May your wishes all come true
May you always do for others
And let others do for you
May you build a ladder to the stars
And climb on every rung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.
May you grow up to be righteous
May you grow up to be true
May you always know the truth
And see the lights surrounding you
May you always be courageous
Stand upright and be strong
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.
May your hands always be busy
May your feet always be swift
May you have a strong foundation
When the winds of changes shift
May your heart always be joyful
And may your song always be sung
May you stay forever young
May you stay forever young.
Susan
Zenyatta and her people, Thank you for sharing your amazing career with all of us. Here’s to the next chapter in your remarkable life; hoping that your genetics will be passed to the coming generations of thoroughbreds. We need your soundness even more than we need your speed, Zenyatta. May God Bless and Protect You Always. Love, Susan
Christine Coleman
Zenyatta, if there is one thing I hope we all take away from the wonderful time we had during your career it is this: IF HUMANS WOULD JUST TREAT OUR HORSES WITH KINDNESS, PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING, we would ALL own Zenyattas. I know I have 10 “Zenyattas.” John S., the Mosses and your connections set a fine example of what a horse can do if treated the way God intended. All my “miniature” Zenyattas, all the abused, neglected rescues, several ex racers, one an off-track TB mare that had to be dug out of several feet of manure, wanna say “Hey Zenny! My mommy learns a lot from John S. and the Mosses!” Please stay in touch!” Enjoy Kentucky! You’ll adjust fine! Horses are like that. They just need to know no one will harm them and that they are loved…
Nancy Reid
Happy Trails Queen Z! Can’t wait to see your beautiful babies.
Dana
It makes me cry too! I have never considered myself much of a fan of anyone until “Zenyatta”! You will be greatly missed on the racetrack! I agree that no one can take your place! You showed brilliance in your last race. Your 20-20
with me! I look forward to seeing you later today!

I think you’ll be quite happy in Kentucky. Hope you’ll be able to relax and just take in the air and the beautiful trees and the lovely grass. You deserve all that and more. I can’t wait to meet you in person some day soon. So glad Mario will be with you for a few days. It’s obvious how he loves you so.
