Good Morning,
Look who is peeking out of her stall at BARN 55! It is my dear baby sister, EBLOUISSANTE! We have the same MOM, Vertigineaux, but our sires are different. My DAD is STREET CRY and her’s is BERNARDINI.
John keeps teasing that he would know those EARS anywhere! The first time he saw “E” at Winter Quarter Farm last year, she was in a field with several other yearlings. He got out of the car, looked around for literally one short moment, and said…”there she is, Zenny’s sister”. He felt her body carriage and fabulous EARS were definitely a huge clue. Those qualities truly reminded him of ME!
Per John, Eblouissante is also very, very inquisitive. (Sound familiar???) She wants to always check everything out that is going on in the barn and she pays close attention to all that is happening around her. (If I say so myself, I THINK SHE IS PRETTY SMART too!)
As you can see, she does not have any white on her. Per the Jockey Club, she is considered to be dark bay-brown / black in color. “E” is also a good-sized girl, I know that feeling, with a great shoulder and hip! Our MOM had a great deal of size and presence….so I’m sure some of this we inherited from HER! Lucky Us!
From all reports, “E” is adapting very well to her new environment and really catching on well to the training routines at Barn 55!
John said he’d keep us ALL posted on how she is doing! As her BIG SISTER, I hope I can offer some great advice to her as we go along! Dottie has mentioned to ME that is something big sisters often do!
In reality, that is what is so much fun right now for ME…I can also help to TEACH things to my family and friends drawing upon my wide range of challenges, life-experiences, and accomplishments!
Have a fabulous Tuesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Especially my dear baby sister, Eblouissante!)

@Trina Nagele – Thanks so much for the link to The Independent, really nice piece on Mike and Z, and new stuff on her #20.
@signofthetimes – to answer your question from #255, Barbara Livingston is really good, too (http://www.drf.com/blogs/2010-horse-year-zenyatta-photographic-tribute), but I found that the frozen whiskers photo of Zenny was taken by Mathea Kelley, who also took the pic on #255 (http://cs.bloodhorse.com/blogs/throughthelens/archive/2011/03/14/zenyatta-s-looking-good.aspx). I like so many pictures of Zenny, that I’m still deciding what to frame. It’s not easy — I can’t always tell what size is best, looking online, so I’ve made a couple mistakes. They’re nice photos, just the wrong size.

@Terry & Gary, I could just imagine Gary at work, gazing out of the window, coming up with the race ideas, and making them better and better in his head. Then being rudely brought back to earth by a co worker, or the boss, and pretending he hadn’t spent the last half hour daydreaming and knew exactly what they were talking about. Can’t tell u how many times that’s happened to me. Hope my boss doesn’t read all these posts!

My Sweet Lady Zenyatta, Your sis Eblouis is a beautiful girl! You & her do favor. The way you both hold & turn your heads are a like. And oh those ears. When they put the cotton in, it will look like you minus the white marking. I am going to keep my eyes on her and watch her develope. I think John knows she has some hidden talent. I pray she stays safe just like you did. I didn’t get to see you race in the beginning but thank goodness for videos. I’ve been reading the postings and I have to say that your fans have some pretty neat ideas honoring YOU. Terry & Gary have come up with “A Zenyatta Stakes” Now that’s how it should be. YOU certainly deserve to have your own races after all look what you did for racing. They should not change a name of a race. Lady’s Secret shold keep her race. That’s only right for her to do that. You don’t want an old race. You want a new race named after you. Bigger & Better just like YOU! Give Terry & Gary’s ideas some thought! Just think what a lasting impression on racing that would be! Zenyatta, I am more than thrilled that you are doing so well and so happy. I love you, Zenyatta and Sending Hugs & Kisses From Alabama With Love, Amanda G.

Zenny, it cracks me up that you are dating your sister’s daddy………LOL

As this was still “awaiting moderation” after a couple of days, I’m reposting as two posts, each with one link.

You have a beautiful sister, Zenyatta. I am very happy to hear that she is doing so well. You said that both of you have the same mother but different fathers and that her father is Bernardini. You will probably have to give her some advice every now and then, because, after all, that’s what sisters are for. It’s good that John recognized her. I’ll bet it helps to make you miss barn 55 in California. You must really miss your baby sister. I would miss her terribly too if I were in your shoes.
