Hello Everyone,
Wow…it is a bit chilly here…snow and all…but I like it!
I am so excited all of you are wondering what I am up to these days! Well, lots is happening…and ALL OF IT is FABULOUS! I am SO HAPPY!
On Tuesday and Wednesday, I had lots of things to get used to in my new ‘home’. The Moss’, John, Dottie, Steve and Mario all stayed to help me in this transition.
My new stall is great. I have a wonderful big window looking out to several large paddocks. I will get to go out and play in them once I am fully acclimated. The sun shines in my window…so even though it is cold outside…I have lots of sunshine and warmth. I also have a wonderful warm blanket that keeps me cozy.
Both Tuesday and Wednesday, they took me for walks in the barn. Then John took me for walks outside…getting me used to everything. There is a round area right outside my barn that is grass. (snow on top right now) It is about the size of my grazing area in CA. John would take me out there and let me walk for about 30 minutes each time…and then let me graze on the grass. (After I walked on it, the snow was moved aside and the grass ‘popped’ up.) The snow is fun…and feels great on my feet. The grass is lush and plentiful. It is terrific. Then I’d get to stand in the sunshine and just look around for a bit. It is beautiful here.
After this, I’d go in my stall. I’d get to eat and drink water, snack on a few bites of banana and carrots and spend some time with my new friends. This is so relaxing.
My barn here has about 8 other girlfriends for me to ‘hang out with each day’. They are all very nice and friendly. We chat back and forth and I see them out playing from my window. I will be able to join them soon…but I need to do things in baby-steps first to get ready for the bigger paddocks. It is really special…and all of my new friends are great…both horse and human. I’ll let you know about my new caretakers soon. They are very, very nice. Mario and John have spent a great deal of time chatting and working with them…my every need being discussed and met. LUCKY ME!
At 3 today (I’m on KY TIME NOW), some photographers are coming to the farm to take photos of me outside. Dottie has been working with Sarah (at Lane’s End) and our web-site people to help get photos and videos up for all of you so you can see me!
I hope you are well…and enjoy all of my updates.
I’ll keep you posted.
With Love,
Hugs~

I’m all in for the Zcam, too. :) Glad you are getting settled in—–it must be wonderful to be soooo loved and having so many people worry about your happiness and health. That shows how incredible you really are, and how thrilling for us fans that your humans share you with us the way that they do.
Gloria
All I can say is….don’t stop the updates. Not only does it sort of ease the fans’ minds, but it is informative to learn how Zenyatta will acclimate to her new life. Thanks to Z’s human connections, especially Dottie) for making this possible. I, for one, appreciate it. You guys rock! Love you, Zenyatta.

I’m so happy that you are warm and cozy. I hope your barn is heated.

I think your new place sounds great— enjoy looking out of your sunny window. Your family is doing so much to help this big move in your life Zenny– what a lucky girl you are. I like the idea of a webcam too– so cant wait to hear and see pics– have fun. love ya, janet cutting
Jean Moore
Oh my, aren’t you the brave one out in the snow looking as beautiful as ever. But why are you not wearing a blanket in 30 degree weather? Is your barn heated? We have been most anxious to hear from you so I am very happy to read all the news and that you are making new friends, as if that would be a problem with your fabulous personality. I know all those mares are sssooooo jealous. Give them attitude as only you can do. SO MUCH LOVE FROM ME TO YOU.
Mary McQuire
Just love these updates and the videos! It makes it so much easier to picture how you are doing when one has a visual reference.

Wow, what a treat! Two posts on the same day.. Must be playing catch up! Can’t wait to see the pictures and videos of you!
Sarah are you the new secretary now? Cause, I don’t think that Dottie wrote this. Correct me if I’m wrong.. Love it though and keep it up!!!! And, welcome to the Z family! :)
Anything and everything about Zenny is appreciated!! I love her stall door sign, ” The Queen Reigns Here!” So much love, big girl!!!!

It sounds really nice Zenyatta, and you new home looks nice too with the window so you can see out. Please keep us up to date with you and your new friends and caretakers. And some pictures and videos would be nice.
BIG, BIG HUGS sweet girl. Love you.
Heidi Kruckenberg
Oh and the web cam sounds great. On her paddock, you can have one on each post. LOL… Wishful thinking…. :))

Looks like things are going to be great there for you Z….still feel a little sad you will not be in CA. I live in VA so not there…but just that everyone there knows you. I am 63 and wish I was not like this..but do not like change. But change is a part of life so we have to accept it. So I know in time you will be just fine and happy. You will probably do better than your fans are doing about you moving to KY. Love the updates…the videos…this is fun….keep sharing!!! Love You Z….

Hi Z – I’m SO GLAD you like it here in Kentucky! Some were worried that you wouldn’t like the cold and the snow. It’s fun to play in – maybe you can build a snowhorse! We’re looking forward to seeing pictures of you and your surroundings! We’re so glad all your “people” are there helping you to acclimate to everything. It’s a big job! I know you will get the best of care. We love you and hope to visit you sometime this spring!

John and Dottie:
Zenyatta desperately needs a blanket when they’re walking her at Lanes End since she has a short coat and I fear she will get pneumonia. Please, please do something about this as I’m going crazy here in Md watching the pics at lanes End.

Sounds like the changes a HS student makes going to college, minus all of the quiet and rest! Your back window sounds like so much fun. We look forward to see you making new girlfriends in the next few weeks. By the way, who cleans your paddock–we would like them to help us with our house. It is SOOO clean!
Linda (Canada)
Queen Z – we are all so ahppy tohear you are doing well -so silly that we all like mother hens, but we were all worried when we didn’t hear. I love getting the posts. Look what you’ve done for racing Z – the post from Bridget B -“first tiem she has ever been to a racetrack”…and she came to see YOU on your farewell at Hollywood Park…you have made such an impact.
I know horses actually LOVE the snow – the crisp coolness feels great – good for the legs! So…..how about a “Z-cam” doesn’t have to be 24/7 – maybe just a few hours..so we can see our girl – after all – shouldn’t the ONLY female to win the Breeder’s Cup Classic deserve a little extra “bling” :)
Shirley Swenson
Thank you to Lane’s End to being so open about ensuring Zen’s adoring public that we are updated as much as possible. It might seem silly to others that many of us who are adults put so much time and effort into staying as connected to this great mare as possible – she touched so many hearts and when so much else sucks in this country – she is such a positive ‘person’ that just a picture of her can bring you up when you might be a little down. Hope she soons acclimates to the cold and the snow. She needs to have the fun of playing in it – my horses really enjoy it. Once she gets use to Kentucky snow she can once again prove she can climb over every obstacle and come and visit me in North Dakota – now we have REAL snow and lots of it!
Tamyatta
Hi beautiful, so glad you are doing well.Every time I pull up Lexington weather and see 13 etc I get all worried about you. They better keep you warm and happy and treat you right! I sure wish I worked there so I could take care of you 24/7:) I asked Santa to bring me your t-shirt that says “From rash to riches”, isn’t that cool…lol. There is so much Zenyatta stuff now you can have just about anything you want. I’m also asking Santa for a Z mousepad…I just don’t know which one to get. There is one that is a beautiful headshot of you and there is one of you and Mike,,,I just can’t decide! I did win some beautiful pics of you on EBAY and I can’t wait to get them! I’ve got you all over my den at home and all over my office at work…you are never out of my sight my wonderful beauty. Stay warm and I’ll keep my fingers crossed for the Z-cam. Love you with all my heart..Tammi

Happy and Safe Holidays to all!

Thank you so much for posting the news! You are all the ***BEST!*** I understand the webcom is not possible because electrical connections sometimes short out and cause fires, and we defintely don’t want that, do we. My horses live in a barn, and I’m always the last one to leave at night and make sure everything is turned off so I don’t have to worry.
Ashley
Glad to hear you’re doing well at the farm! Wonder who are your 8 new girlfriends?
nancy

Oh Wow Z… thank you, thank you for the update… ha ha, that must have been fun to see the snow and then the grass pop up.. how fun… what are the names of the girls in your barn? Is the barn heated, I would hope so… you look glorious walking outside.. I saw you on drf.com.. I bet they can’t believe what a handfull you are so big and gorgeous.. your coat looks so good against the white… I am so glad you are happy and adjusting.. like I said you are in my mind all the time and when I do something or going to do something the first thing I think of “what would Zenyatta do?” oh, yes, she would be a lady and let the other person park their car first… I am so happy you are happy, can’t wait for the photos… I love you a whole lot.
Tracy
It’s amazing that a horse can just make your day or even cry (in a good way). I’m sure going to miss watching you run next year but I’m glad to hear that your new home is nice. Every one in my home town Hot Springs, AR will be listening for any wonderful news on how you are doing.
Linda / Maryland
So So happy to see you are happy at your new home. You are closer to me now and maybe I could possibly get there to see you. I will wait though until you have been there awhile because I know as soon as you can have visitors it’s going to be PACKED there. Love you “Z”
Maggie
Hehe, Zen, I love that you have bad grammar! It’s really cute. The plural of Moss is the Mosses. “es”. The apostrophe is possessive! Too cute. Glad you’re happy in your new home! We can’t wait to hear more about your new life!
Gina
Z – keep the posts coming! Love to hear about you and how you’re doing :) Love ya!
Robin
Thank you for the update. We sure miss you like CRAZY Z!! Stay safe & warm! LOVE YOU!!! Hugs & Kisses!! XOXO

Thank you SOOOO much for this update. We are all thinking about you in this huge transition. Thank you and all of your family for taking the time to parade at Keeneland this past frozen Monday evening, after your huge day of travel; what a day that must have been! I swear to you that it’s gorgeous here from April through November. I sure wish it was 50 or 60 degrees for your first months here! I hope you have a ZenyattaPashmina, and ZenyattaUgs. As you are used to being a working girl, perhaps you should start a new line of clothing! With very best wishes.
Marty
Thank you so much for updating your diary. I have been patiently waiting to hear how you are adjusting.I know what you mean about the warm sunrays coming through the windows. It feels so good. Even when the temps are cold that sun feels warm even in the winter. I am sure you will feel at home after a bit of an adjustment. I moved to Kentucky from Maine and it took a while but I found that people were so kind and welcoming I felt at home right away. I just know that you will find a buddy to give you comfort. Maybe that little cat I saw in a video today. She certainly had a lot to “Say”.
Have a good night.
Love you
Leslie
Oh Z, this is so important to me to hear from you!!! Thank you so much! I’ve been worried you’d be lonesome or boxed up in a stall. I’m relieved to hear you get to be walked around at least for now by your familiar humans. I’m so grateful Mario and John and training your new caregivers in all the details of your needs! Thank you John, Mario, Dottie, and all your team for what you do for Z and what you do for us… her fans.
You mean so much to me Z! I’m thrilled to look forward to more updates and videos are so exciting!!
Be well Z!!
