Good Morning All,
Yesterday’s results at Royal Ascot were quite interesting. FRANKEL, the 3 year old colt by Galileo out of Kind owned and bred by Juddmonte Farms, won again! This time his victory was by 3/4 of a length. He is still undefeated…7 for 7…which I can say from personal experience…is not an easy thing to accomplish. My sincere congratulations to FRANKEL and all of his connections!
GOLDIKOVA ran a very solid race and finished 2nd losing by just 3/4 of a length. Then, MY MIKIE finished 4th on his mount in the 2 year old stake. While in England, Mike also did a very nice interview which is currently being played on THE BLOODHORSE website. You might enjoy viewing it if you have a free moment!
Speaking of yesterday’s races at this historic race course, I wanted to share with you a photo of the human FRANKEL taken during the 1985 Royal Ascot Meet. Here he is, the real Bobby FRANKEL pictured on the left, attending the races with his friends Phil Werkmeister and Richard McCormick. Ann Eberhardt sent us this photo.
As you may know, the dress code on these racing dates is very specific. It supports a history of tradition. Formal day dress is required. Gentlemen are required to wear either black or grey morning dress, including a waistcoat with a top hat! Just imagine, all of these years later, we have a photo of Bobby taken at Royal Ascot…the same place where yesterday a horse named for him won such a prestigious race to remain undefeated. This is absolutely TOO CUTE!
I can only imagine that Bobby would be quite pleased…and so very, very proud!
On another note, in relation to American Racing, they have a HUGE PICK 6 CARRY-OVER today in New York. I gather this was somewhat aided by the results of the BELMONT! I know lots of people are studying their FORMS, CHARTS, PAPERS etc. this morning hoping to handicap all of the winners!
I better go study a bit myself! HOOVES CROSSED for all of you to GET LUCKY!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Good morning, everyone! I can’t seem to get caught up to the right day! I left some messages at the end of YESTERDAY’S post and intended to post last night but the internet connection was out due to some bad weather. Enjoyed everyone’s posts! Haven’t had time to check out the links but I will. Lou is stable and feeling good! My daughter got back last night and we watched Zenny’s BC win. She was watching Mike Smith watching Z on a TV screen and she said, “wow-he is so in love with her! Look how he looks at her.”
She asked if we were watching a show on “famous races” and I said no, I’ve had this saved on the DVR since then. She thought that was pretty funny and I thought it was pretty normal! :)
@Charlotte Farmer: Will send what I can to MB at Old Friends.
@Terry Crow: great idea to contact the writer!
@Terry Crow and Judy B: I know exactly what you mean when you’ve built something up and up and then suddenly feel responsible if someone makes the effort to see it-the worst is if you are with that someone and it is clear they are NOT enjoying it! BUT-that said, I always like Richard Dreyfuss and even though I won’t get all the track humor, I know from your posts that I laugh at the same things you all do!
Have a good day, Z friends!

Dear Susan in Tn.:
It sounds like Lou is doing better. So glad. You know, our adopted Greyhound’s name was Lou Lou. On what your daughter said, it’s so true, Mikey is in love with Z (just like all of us). As far as the movie goes, I’m guessing with your wonderful sense of humor, you will enjoy it, especially Richard Dreyfuss as Trotter. Hugs, J.B.

Hi Zenyatta. Just love the picture of Bobby Frankel – wow, do we miss him. His namesake is so handsome and a great champion. It has been such great racing at Royal Ascot and I just love waiting to see what the Queen is wearing. Love you. Please stay comfortable in this steamy weather, eat well for two and have loads of fun with your BBFs. Love you, Angel in Disguise.

Congratulations to Frankel and his human connections and congratulations as well to one of my favorites, Goldikova. Zen, thanks for the update on the Royal Ascot Race. Your posts offer a great wealth of information on horse racing. Take care big girl. I still miss your presence on the race track.

Thanks again Dottie for being Zenyatta’s voice–I read at least once a week to get caught up on all the news and I really appreciate all the racing news and info. you provide as well. I frequent bloodhorse quite often, but if I don’t get to the page, thanks for the highlights

I don’t know what precisely happens when we leave this earth–but I wouldn’t surpise me if Bobby Frankel isn’t looking down on (and maybe even “inspiring”) the equine Frankel!! The horse certainly could do this all on his own–but a little otherworldly help may be there, too!! :)

Dear Zenny & Dottie,
That was fun seeing a photo of Bobby Frankel at Royal Ascot…26 years ago.
I enjoyed watching the racing from England this past week, but got behind on reading Z’s Diary Posts.
I’m catching up today. Thanks for all your interesting updates.
Fondly, OraJean

I missed this day’s Royal Ascot as well, unfortunately, but, once again, I understand that everything went well. Congratulations to Frankel, who won; Goldikova, who finished second; and Mike Smith who finished fourth. It’s really amazing that there is a picture of Bobby Frankel and a couple of other gentlemen from 1985 at that year’s Royal Ascot. He is one determined man and has been in the horse business most of if not all of his life. No wonder there is a horse named after him and I am very happy that horse won, although I would have been perfectly happy with Goldikova or the horse that Mike Smith rode as well. Zenyatta, I’m sure you cheered on your former rider.

@CharlotteFarmer I read about your efforts for Noor online through Bill Dwyer’s story in the latimes yesterday. That’s so great you have worked so hard to bring people together to give Noor the respect he deserves.
Here, in Canada, we have a similar kind of story that’s been ongoing for a while with the final closure of Windfield’s Farm. Now, the grave of Northern Dancer, E. P. Taylor’s little (15.1 hh) Canadian-bred colt who won both the Derby and the Preakness in 1964 appears to be in limbo as Windfields is being developed with new homes and a college campus. Back in 2008, an announcement was made that his grave as well as those of several other great horses would be preserved but not much seems to have been done. http://www.durhamregion.com/news/article/172783 Recently, I have volunteered to help with this effort would love to hear any tips or suggestions you or any other readers have.
