Good Morning,
I wanted to give you an update on HOW I AM DOING! I am eating very well…no surprise there…and enjoying myself tremendously. My number of treats is being monitored (as it should be) and I am drinking lots of water each day and nothing else.
As you can see, I do have a bit of a BABY BUMP. I am HAPPILY gaining a few pounds…right in the middle. As many of you may know from your own personal experiences, this is what happens when you are having a baby!
In the responses, many of you have asked about my actual breeding date. It was on April 3rd. Time is flying by so quickly. Another fun fact to note is that my paddock pal, Tasty Temptation, was also bred on the very same day. She was bred to Candy Ride and is also in foal.
Thus, Tasty T. and I have a great deal in common. We are both experiencing the exact same stages of our pregnancies together.
In looking at this photo, the clouds look amazing in the background. The sky is gorgeous…and the Kentucky Blue Grass is so lush. My friend, Matt, also looks good! He is so sweet and I so appreciate the fact that he will spend the one-to-one time grazing me like this!
As for ME, I think I look pretty terrific in this picture! (Blush, Blush) My coat looks fabulous, my dapples are glowing and I do think my overall appearance is TOO CUTE!
I’ll keep you posted and updated on what I’m doing as we go along. I’m still very busy with my friends and all of my charity work! The other day Lane’s End told ME that I recently raised $8,500 for a charity named RIDING FOR HOPE. ($2,500 for one of my halters and $6,000 for a visit with ME!)
This organization is one that “is dedicated to improving the quality of life and the health of children and adults with special physical, cognitive, emotional and social needs through therapeutic activities with the horse”. **
I am so grateful to be able to HELP!
This concept of further developing your life in the midst of having a second career, in my case…having a baby, is quite gratifying! I am really trying to use my time wisely to help others and to do my very best to MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

FOURTH OF JULY DEADLINE FOR THE “NAME THE FOAL” FUNDRAISING CONTEST AT RIVER EDGE FARM HORSE RESCUE —The rescued mare Cheyenne, a spotted Saddle Horse, was pregnant when she arrived at River Edge, and now her little bay colt has arrived and needs a name. Four names are in the running as I write this. Out in front with a ten length lead as they enter the backstretch is Sasparilla (125 votes), then comes Rollo (50), another seven lengths back is Beckett (15), with Happy Ever After trailing at the rear (10). Is one of these last three names going to make a Zenny-like surge? In this contest, a dollar donated to the rescue counts as one vote for the name you choose. To see the mother and colt and the voting so far, go to http://www.riveredgefarmhorserescue.org/ Votes can be cast via PayPal on this website (click on SUPPORT US in the left margin) or mail a check to River Edge Farm Horse Rescue, PO Box 692, Lyles, TN 37098. PayPal will allow you to write “Special Instructions to the Seller,” where you can say which name you are voting for. This is the rescue where our friend Susan in TN is volunteering, and she can personally vouch for the worthiness of this rescue farm.

Z, you and your people just blow me away. Your stories are so awesome! You and everyone who helps you are wonderful! All that kindness is a glorious thing.

DEAREST ZENYATTA
IF I WERE GIVEN THE OPPERTUNITY TO CHOOSE WHO I WANTED TO BE IN THIS LIFE TIME OR ANY OTHER…I WOULD WANT TO BE YOU…
I LOVE YOU GIRL…
Diana S
@terry crow: You’re probably in bed, but us Dumplings may need a chef on 7/9 – or a chaperone – or someone to bail us out. That would be YOU!
@kari: I’ll put out the word to a friend in TN about the piano. Let’s start a phone/email tree, Z’ers.
@charlotte farmer: I’m working under the radar on Noor – stay tuned, sweetie;
@All: Been wanting to ask if anyone of my vintage (creeky old) remembers a book called “Top Kick” about a WWII horse in Bhutan or the Phillipines? That just happens to be the very first book this horse crazy girl checked out from my grammar school library. Wow! Where did those brain cells pop in from?
@AZ Z’ers: Any of you want to ride to HP with me? Driving over on 7/7.
G’night sweet Zenyatta. My bet is on a filly, March 17th!
diastu in tempe (11:16PM and 99 – is it stew yet?)
Mary
P.S.I THINK YOU STILL LOOK LIKE A RACE HORSE TO ME…LOL…
Charlotte Farmer
@Diana S – Top Kick – I put the title “Top Kick” into Google and came up with:
1942 – Amazon.com: Top Kick: U.S. army horse: Helen Orr Watson: Books . . . I own the rights to this title and would like to make it available again through Amazon. Here is the link, it is for sale. Even though I was born in 1947 I was too busy as a kid falling in love with Roy Rogers one week then Trigger the next, and so on.

Good night, Queen Z, sleep tight.
@Diana S–You crack me up! Thanks!

Trina, thanks for posting foal naming contest at River Edge, great idea by them. Simerler to what someone had suggested earlier for a ‘guess the date the foal will be born’. I will add some votes tomorrow, have to sleep on it cause I can’t decide which name I like! I’m leaning t’ward Sasparillo.
Susan, looks like a nice place. Good for you for volunteering there.
Lydia
Zenyatta, you are so amazing pretty girl. Keep healthy and happy. Love always.

Good morning Zenny, Hope you have a peaceful day and enjoy yourself with Tasty T. I just looked at the photos of the Queen’s Plate and thought I’d let you know that all the saddle cloths from the race are to be auctioned off the benefit the LONGRUN TB Retirement Society. Minimum bids $250 so a good sum should be raised to make like more comfy for some pensioners. Off to golf so I’ll be checking in later.
Brenda
Oops, spelling mistakes, too early for me and I haven’t finished for tea.

@Diana S.
You are priceless! :)

Good Morning Zenny, Dottie, Matt, Sarah & all the Z connections.Looks like another beautiful day in Lexington. I’m happy that everything is going well with our gorgeous girl. I’m wondering when the foal is born, whether “he or she” will come out dancing! Wouldn’t surprise me.
This has been a bad month for me, my son had a terrible fall & has been in casts on both legs for 6 wks, now, a lot of therapy. My other son in Mo, had the misfortune of a severe hailstorm come thru, damaging his house, cars, trees, everything, I am to have surgery in a few days, so what else is new! Thankfully, none of the family was injured in the hailstorm.
On a pleasant note, I will be going with a group to visit OLD FRIENDS, very excited about this. I am especially anxious to see Little Silver Storm. I will say hello from Zenny and all you Z fans.

WE MISS YOU HERE! :)

Also, I got to see Mikey this weekend. Seeing him is like seeing a part of you again. I am sure he holds you so dearly in his heart. Zenyatta, you show us LOVE.

@Michele
It is so funny how the switch leads so naturally when
They run around the paddock. But with a rider on,
Too much to think about. Yes, I think I would fall tooo.
@ The Dumplings
Have a great time at the Gold Cup !!!!
Dear Zenny
Have great day and enjoy the wonderful weather.

You are one beautiful expectant mother. Thank you for the photo.

@Louise (not Louise C., the other one), welcome back! Zenyatta’s baby daddy is the handsome Bernardini. He was the 3-year-old champion in 2006. He is a son of A.P. Indy, who retired from stud just recently. Bernardini stands at Darley, where Z’s sire Street Cry also stands. Bernardini has become quite a good young sire, with several graded stakes winners to his name. He is also the sire of Z’s little half sister Eblouissante, who is now in training at Barn 55 with John Shirreffs.

Hey Zenny! Hope your feeling good! Can’t wait for that special date in a couple of months. It seems like forever we’ll wait for your little Prince/Princess to come into the world!! We love you and keep updated. Can’t wait to see the ultrsound soon. Are you gonna do an ultrasound? I hope so, so we can start thinking of little names!!
Good luck, Many blessings, and we love you Queen Z!!

@ Judy Berube, you are truly tooo nice.
@Diana S, being a Thelma and Louise girl definitely qualifies you to be the judge. I have a history about them too!
Sharon Call
@Lil in KY. It always seems to come in “three’s”, doesn’t it. Your trip to Old Friends should make you feel so much better. You’re so right, no one was injured in the hail storm and your son with the casts on his leg will get better and better. Go into your surgery with a high heart and as John would say “a good mind”. I’ve been through many surgeries and I can tell you from experience, attitude is everything. Just know that you have a whole web site chock full of people pulling for you, praying for you and thinking of you. It WILL be OK. Please let us know how it goes.
Celeste
Awww, Zenyatta, thank you for sharing another beautiful photo. It always makes my heart feel so uplifted to see new images of all your beauty, but then when I read the new diary entry I am again overwhelmed by what an amazing group assembled in Team Zenyatta. Thank you to all of you. It is beautiful.
Helen (Michigan)
Blue skies, warm breezes, a hunky “body guard”, clover, a back scratch or two in the right spot, maybe a soft pat on your baby bunp- what more could a girl ask for? How about all of us to help with the scratches and pats? Guaranteed: you and we would LOVE it.
The shower for charities is a great idea. Count me in. Zenyatta with her Team have done more to publicize animal welfare/child therapy and worthwhile causes and raise funds for them than any other I can recall.
Zenny, I love the photo and regular updates on your progress.
I have questions though.
1. Do you stay in the same broodmare barn through your pregnancy? How many are living with you?
2. How many prospective Mommies share your paddock?
3. Is Mona de Momma with you and if she was bred, can her mate be revealed?
4. Do you still have Pirate Queen as a buddy and if so, has she been bred too?
5. Do you get “pre-natal vitamins” along with your oats, hay, grass and clover? Guess the Guinness and peppermints are out, huh?
See, I’m just like a nosy doting aunt, want to know everything!
Dottie, please take notes on Z’s answers and post when you can!!!
Love one and all on this site.
