Happy Thursday,
The weather is continuing to be very pleasant here in Lexington. I am outside quite a bit these days with my pal, Tasty Temptation. We are having such a great time together and are both doing very well.
As a matter of fact, David stopped by to visit last night when leaving the office, and called Dottie and John to tell them how AMAZING I LOOK! Blush, Blush! He said my friend, TT, also looked wonderful!
One of the visitors that accompanied Jim Rome to see ME on Friday was Rex Chapman. Rex is from Kentucky and played basketball for UK as well as in the PROS. It was so much fun to visit with these guys as I really do love all sports. Being that both Rex and I are professional athletes, we have a great deal in common.
What is truly adorable…is the photo above! Rex and Jim are taking a picture of ME while Sarah is taking a picture of them. They are in their ‘let’s get a terrific photo of Z poses’. Gotta’ love this!
I would imagine, this is something which happens much more than one would think when people are taking pictures. I used to see this all of the time when I was at BARN 55. The fans would be taking pictures of ME…and MY JOHN ultimately has lots of pictures of them all taking MY picture. It just kind of happens!
As a matter of fact, the other afternoon Dottie was at BARN 55 and she noticed my little sister, Eblouissante, doing something in her stall which reminded her so much of ME! (I guess ‘E’ and I do have several mannerisms which are very similar.) In this particular instance, ‘E’ was resting her head on top of the haynet and looking around the barn watching everything going on. I used to do this, too, all of the time. In truth, I never wanted to miss a thing!
Well, at that moment, the same type of thing happened. MY JOHN captured the photo of Dottie taking a picture of “E”….just like Sarah did with Rex, Jim and ME!
So many things that happen like this just make ME smile. I would imagine if you look through your family albums and photos, you’d have several of these types of shots as well. People can be TOO CUTE in so many ways!
I hope you enjoy the photos of my pals, Jim and Rex, ME, my adorable fans,
and my darling 2 year old sister, ‘E’.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Have a FUN DAY…and SMILE!)

@Sharon Call I am the one who needed help with spelling….Yep…I am old enough to remember wearing them “first hand” too!!!
that is term Our Dear (MY Hero) Mr. Shirreffs used…I am awful with time , but it has been less than a decade since they meet…Too Precious!!!
I love that they meet at that era of their lifes at a time when you are well old enough to really-truly know who and what you want out of life….really-really just too romantic & beautiful!!

Zenny- I was looking at that top picture again and you’re looking around like, “Is this all there is today?”

HSUS posts ‘A Humane Nation,’ & June 30, 2011, notes support for an amendment led by Rep. Jim Moran, D-Va., ‘to bar funding for federal inspections at any horse slaughter plant in the [US], to bar funding for fed. inspectors & thereby prevent the opening of any such plant in the country.’ It passed on a close vote in the House Appropriations Committee, then by the full House of Rep. Now the vote goes to the Senate as S. 1176, sponsored by Sens. Mary Landrieu, D-La, and Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., with her words as a life-long horse lover and specifics in the introduction of the bill. Please call &/or send a note to your senator, after reading the HSUS post http://hsus.typepad.com/wayne/2011/06/horse-slaughter-update.html?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A=typepad%2Fhsus%2Wayne+Pacelle%3A+A+Humane+Nation%29 A succinct review of issues and a meaningful solution. Thanks, everyone. Khc.

Dearest Zenyatta–and Dottie!!! When will the official documentary about Zenny be announced!? There HAS to be one in the making, and I’m sure the birth of her foal will be a highlight, but Zenny’s life in film would be a treasure to have. When when when??
Love to Sweet Zenny and to all of Team Z!

Many thanks to the folks answering my question regarding mean horses. I had a cat once that was just plain mean. No amount of love could cure it. So I guess “All You Need Is Love” isn’t exactly true. On a brighter note I just have to let it out that I met my first horse a couple of weeks ago. Not only did I get to pet him and brush his mane, but I also got to throw my arms around his neck and get a good whiff of him and a good kiss too. He didn’t mind a bit and continued munching his hay. I love that sound. I smelled horse for days. I wish someone would bottle that scent for those of us that don’t have a horse so we could take a good sniff of it when we miss them. He is a gentle guy of the pinto variety. Thanks to everyone for your horse stories, videos and info. Bless you all.

What a wonderful bunch of crazy people. For a short time everyday we can get away from the normal day to day stuff and think, dream, hope and share with other people. We check in on the great Ms. Zenny and are so very thankful for everything she and Dottie and the entire Z team do to keep us informed. Always in my thoughts and prays…. what a wonderful escape. Thank you all.

@ ALL MY Z FRIENDS: I left a number of messages at the end of the last diary post and also an update on the horse rescue. Also, I’ll repeat it here: If anyone would like me to email the rescue newsletter and/or some photos of the horses, emil me at: carothers.susan@yahoo.com and I would be happy to do it!
@Judy B: Thank you! And I know-poor Azzi-he’s even afraid of the foal :( But he is so calm and confident with people. I hope he and Chester work things out. I think Chester feels good not being on the lowest rung!
@Kathy Kimber: Thank you Lou’s prayers-you are very kind!
@Sharon Call: I know- terrified of Chester!! Chester did something today I hadn’t seen and I couldn’t wait to tell you: When he saw me from a distance, he whinnied and came toward me doing the most beautiful EXTENDED TROT! He wasn’t stiff or anything. He is gradually building up muscle but I sure didn’t know he could do that!! I told Beth that all that hustling to stay out of everyone’s way has been good physical therapy, if not emotional.
@Lucia: YES- I am a huge Harry Potter fan! I can’t wait until July 15 either!
@Rachael: I am so happy for Polo AND you! I will check out his blog. Best wishes to both of you!
@Sarah Powell: Thank you! They do mean a lot to me and I do feel like I’ve been given this opportunity that sometimes feels like a dream! We had a 3-legged rescue goat for 9 years whom we adored.I had no idea before we got him that a goat could be so intelligent and sweet and funny-he enriched our lives in so many ways that if I tried to explain it,the Internet Crazy Police would track me down! Our three dogs were rescues, too. I like that you have “somewhat normal” dogs!
@Abigail in Montreal: Thanks for the Royals update. They do seem like a nice young couple. I had forgotten about the Canadian horses. Pretty neat!
@Laura J: I’m sorry about Step being sold. I hope his surgery is successful. I hope you can find another partnership, if that is what you want to do. Appreciate your expertise, always.
@Fast N Smart:I hope your human has time eventually to tell us about your pasture mates and how that came to be. Wait-YOU can tell us! Too cute!
Thank you to all for the great links, info, etc. I just missed race 8 at HP on calracing-will catch the replay.

@Brenda-The Horse That God Built is indeed a great read, although it is more about Eddie Sweat, Secretariat’s groom more than it is about the horse.Good story telling by an accomplished author.@Judy Berube and Sharon Call–This whole process is a sham, and I don’t mean the horse. These clowns are going to get off without an ything being done. The only hero in this thing is Amy Aimmerman, a producer for HRTV. She gtried to warn everybody and was virtually ignored. Then Pletcher says something stupid like an allergic reaction. If that is all true, why did Velasquez take her back at the start and not ride her the whole way? Disgusting. Who is their vet adviser, Dr. Gerard?@Abigail from Montreal-local TV here in Southern California broke in with coverage of the arrival of the royal couple’s plane. Must be a time of great national pride for Canada.@Karen Gogue-Some more beautiful prose.
Terry Crow
That should be Amy Zimmerman.

@JUDY –that is so funny about John and Dottie’s 1st date–Dottie does have great legs–how tall is Dottie? I’m guessing no more than 5’4? I love stories of how couples first meet. Anyway, Zenny this was so interesting about taking pictures–now I have to look back at mine!!! You are such a beauty–cant take a bad shot. Also, If you can’t hear animals speaking and feel the emotions from being with them– are you relly listening and do you believe ..you must believe…Zenyatta’s John told us that. Have a great 4th and take care of our animal friends with the fireworks out there…….

@Judy Berube-I’m still looking for that football salesman.

Dear Sally B.:
My sister and I get into uncontrollable giggles often when we are together. We call them “Lucy and Ethel Moments”. We do cause some raised eyebrows. We just have each other (no other siblings) and there’s nobody can get me laughing like she can. Other times, I’ll call her and say, “I need a Thelma and Louise Day”. (She’s Thelma and I’m Louise). We leave early in the morning; have breakfast and spend the day together at the local casino playing the races simulcast from New York, Florida, etc. (We no longer have a TB track in our State, so no live racing). She is my sister and my best friend. Hugs, J.B.

To Terry Crow:
You are soooo right on the LAT debacle. That football salesman’s hard to find. Ha, ha. Hugs, J.B.
