Happy Thursday,
The weather is continuing to be very pleasant here in Lexington. I am outside quite a bit these days with my pal, Tasty Temptation. We are having such a great time together and are both doing very well.
As a matter of fact, David stopped by to visit last night when leaving the office, and called Dottie and John to tell them how AMAZING I LOOK! Blush, Blush! He said my friend, TT, also looked wonderful!
One of the visitors that accompanied Jim Rome to see ME on Friday was Rex Chapman. Rex is from Kentucky and played basketball for UK as well as in the PROS. It was so much fun to visit with these guys as I really do love all sports. Being that both Rex and I are professional athletes, we have a great deal in common.
What is truly adorable…is the photo above! Rex and Jim are taking a picture of ME while Sarah is taking a picture of them. They are in their ‘let’s get a terrific photo of Z poses’. Gotta’ love this!
I would imagine, this is something which happens much more than one would think when people are taking pictures. I used to see this all of the time when I was at BARN 55. The fans would be taking pictures of ME…and MY JOHN ultimately has lots of pictures of them all taking MY picture. It just kind of happens!
As a matter of fact, the other afternoon Dottie was at BARN 55 and she noticed my little sister, Eblouissante, doing something in her stall which reminded her so much of ME! (I guess ‘E’ and I do have several mannerisms which are very similar.) In this particular instance, ‘E’ was resting her head on top of the haynet and looking around the barn watching everything going on. I used to do this, too, all of the time. In truth, I never wanted to miss a thing!
Well, at that moment, the same type of thing happened. MY JOHN captured the photo of Dottie taking a picture of “E”….just like Sarah did with Rex, Jim and ME!
So many things that happen like this just make ME smile. I would imagine if you look through your family albums and photos, you’d have several of these types of shots as well. People can be TOO CUTE in so many ways!
I hope you enjoy the photos of my pals, Jim and Rex, ME, my adorable fans,
and my darling 2 year old sister, ‘E’.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(Have a FUN DAY…and SMILE!)

Thanks for all the photos—sweet E resting her head is my favorite, she is going to race like you too–all out! I just watched all the replays of your races and wins, it’s just so incredible what you did and where you are now, you are a day maker for sure.

Hi Queen, You look so beautiful with the white clouds and blue sky as your backdrop! Love you and miss you big mamma..
Jackie
Good Evening Queen “Z”, love the pictures. Dottie looks fantastic as always and yes she has a great set of legs and beautiful blue eyes! What a lucky man John is. Oh, and yes Ebby looks great too. I wonder if she will grow to 17.2 hands like her big sister?
Haven’t had a chance to check out Animal Kingdom and whether his surgery was a success. Does anyone have an update?
The weather looks nice in Kentucky we here n CA will be warming up quite a bit. Weather man saying will be over 100 in the SF Valley. Yikes! Looks like a great weekend of racing at Hollywood Park. A lot of good races.
I hear Zazu may be going east for a race or two? For some reason this year with all the injuries to the colts the filles/mares seem to have the stronger fields. GIRL POWER!!!
Looking so forward to the long holiday weekend and celebrating our great Nation. Hope all the Z Fans enjoy a safe 4th of July.
Sleep well precious one.
Hugs and Kisses

Dear Zenyatta, and pasture buddy –
Tasty Temptation (too cute) – I am so happy you are enjoying the warm weather – and now that it is summer – I hope you are both (actually, all at Lanes’ End) getting watermelon treats. So refreshing! I was posting a lot since last fall, getting to know, and respond to – other “regulars” on the site… but, since end of May, I have been swamped with work, and some travel, and I just have not had the time. I feel I have missed a lot. Oh well, perhaps I can get back “into the swing of things” a bit more….I have missed many diary entries, and other’s postings……(which were always interesting, informational, and mostly, a joy to read).
On another note – for anyone who would love to watch an uplifting video on a war horse who was a true hero – go to “you tube” – and put in – “Sgt. Reckless – Korean war horse hero”. Ahhhh, horses – they give us so very much……
Anne from Paramount, CA
Queen Z: high hooves to you on this California Thursday evening, but sleep time for you. Playing catch up on the week’s posts…you have had quite a week! And how about Dottie with your sister–love that photo too. :) @Charlotte Farmer, you may have already tried this, if so ignore this suggestion, but re Noor have you contacted the Thoroughbred Times? Their ph # is 859-260-9800.Website: http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com and letters to editor: letters @thoroughbredtimes.com
@Terry Crow I read The Horse that God Built and agree with you. Good reading. I read it in bits and pieces, did not find it a page turner, but still liked the back stories.
@Librarian and BWood: I read all the Dick Francis books back then. My fav was The Banker. @Linda in NJ: what an exciting time you have waiting for you. I’d come by and say hello to you in Turf Club but will not be in the appropriate attire for that section. I am a very casual race goer. You will have a wonderful time! Perhaps see you at the paddock, who knows? Enjoy Barn 55!! :):)
Well, our dear Z,it is time for this fan to go to sleep… work awaits in the morning, then weekend racing hoofray!!Hey, I was going to erase the “f” in last word but I like it–fits right in don’t you think, Z? HOOF RAY for Our Queen! Oh dear I must be REALLY tired. Sweet dreams of motherhood to you!

@Judy MG

@Anne from Paramount, Ca & Terry Crow:
I too, read “The horse that God built”, as well Bill Knack’s “Secretariat.” I also read “Secretariat’s Meadow”, by Kate Chenery. I would highly recommend it. Loved the whole history, as well as choked up seeing the picture of Secretariat’s head, superimposed on an older picture of the original “Meadows.” My “Emma”, has ancestral ties to Something Royal,- (therefore – Princequillo, & Imperatrice,) Hill Prince, & Sir Gaylord – so she has several ties to “The Meadows.” It is all so fascinating….
audreyc
misspelled Bill’s name – isn’t it “Nack.”? Oh, it is late, and I can’t worry about it…..

@Zenyatta’s Army As Diana S. Calls It – I opened up the computer, went to my favorite site and started rereading. I must have missed all the “Ana” stuff. When I got to what Ana had posted, I thought, why are you even here? What a sad commentary on a human being you are. Maybe you should look deeper into what this site is all about, friendships formed, love learned, and all because of a wonderful thoroughbred named Zenyatta. I think you should take your poison pen and move on. For all of Z’s people the best thing you can do about Ana, ignore her, that’s what I am going to do. Do not give her one more minute of thought or energy.
Karen Gogue
@Anne
I’m gonna steal that ‘hoofray’ K? :)
Charlotte Farmer
@Zenyatta – I love the pictures especially the one of Dottie taking a picture of your little sister. Too cute! Your little sister looks very tall. Wow, thanks to Mary Barbolis I now know how tall you are, 16.3. Who knows you might reach your sisters height. But Eblouissante you will be your own person, with your own personality, sweet and loving, which I believe runs in the family. I love you Zenyatta!
@Mary G – I think Ebby needs maybe something different to drink, since Guinness is the choice of drink for her sister. Her name sounds French, even though there is no French in her background, maybe Z’s John can come up with something else, but then again Guinness isn’t a bad choice.
@Judy (Maass) Gadwood – I clicked onto your gratefulness candle and lit one for the lady.
@Abigail from Montreal – What a beautiful story about the grand old man who will be leading the others in pulling the landau. Hats off to him and may he have many more years ahead of him. Thank you for the story.
@Kari Bussell – Thank you!
@DJ – I would need the soil by mid-August, no later.
@Cynthia H. – I also cried the day Lamb Chop died. She was the sweetest and had so much potential, but God needed. I just wish one didn’t need special permission to visit her and Quicken Tree.

Dear Zenny,
You are quite the photogenic horse. And love every minute of it.
Love the pic of E and Dottie. One ear forward and one ear back is the cutest other that both out to the side. E is such a doll.
@ Abigail
Thanks for the update on the William and Kate and their travels
in Canada. Veterans can be very mischevious because they have tried everything and know how to dooo lots of funny things. What a cute description of the veteran canadian horse.
We had a Canadian Sport horse at our barn. She was very much like a TB. High strung and spooky, but very sweet.
@ CA Z fans
Have fun at the race track this weekend.

@Monica—Thanks for sharing! I hope you’ll join in the tribute to Dottie (see above).
@Judy Maass Gadwood—That Jimmy Fallon Kentucky Derby rap was fun!
@Susan in TN and Kimberly Potter—You two are TOO CUTE with regard to your responses to Ms. A.
@audreyc—So nice to see you posting again! Yes, Sgt. Reckless has gotten some recognition here lately. Have you visited her FB page? Efforts are under underway to get her a statue at the Korean War Memorial in DC. Would you please be so kind as to e-mail me at trinambn@yahoo.com with regard to another matter?

I love you Queen Z! I love the pictures.

@BROOKE, WOW, you rode a race horse! That is way super cool. I didn’t know Mrs Voltz had ridden a race horse before, I need to pay more attention to these posts, I am missing a lot of good stuff. You two are having a lot of fun. I had heard about pin firing, it didn’t sound very nice to me and I wondered why it was done. I will have to learn more about it, but I don’t think many people do it now. I hope you get some info. back from the lip number, maybe it just takes them a while to respond. Give the very famous Dusty a nice gentle rub on the nose from me if you can. Thank you for posting and letting us know how you are doing with the riding. Have a great summer Brooke.
JSmith
Abigail in Montreal, that was funny, your writing always makes a good story though.
Everyone, be sure to read Kathryn Cogswell’s post, currently about 3/4 way down from top, and email or write your Senator on this important vote to stop ………. Not a pleasant subject, and I don’t like to mention it here, but they are taking a vote in the Senate and if nobody bothers to voice an opinion to their senator, the senators won’t think it matters to anyone. This is the link that K.C. posted, so u don’t have to find it above, http://hsus.typepad.com/wayne/2011/06/horse-slaughter-update.htmlutm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A=typepad%2Fhsus%2Wayne+Pacelle%3A+A+Humane+Nation%29
I hope that works, it doesn’t look right.

@Everyone: Regarding Ms Dottie’s legs, I could not help but notice either, I thought, wish those were on my body….

Ms Zenyatta, good, beautiful, wonderful, morning to you, cannot wait to see your next post. Again, thank you for the great pics on this one. I love you, Big Girl….Lisa g.

Zenny: Keep talkin’ to us Darlin’!
@All Z friends who converse here daily and give me a happy day: Keep it up!
@Ana: Go away.
Celeste
Thank you for another heart lifting posting with wonderful photos!! All of them and your accompanying message are just too cute!! How precious that Eblouissante shares some of your same mannerisms also – she is beautiful, too. This is such a great place and I’m so happy to be able to keep sharing and learning. Thank you!!
Sue Fredrick
@ Judy Gadwoood, thank you for posting that video of Jimmy Fallon, is it just hysterical, I laughed so hard I cried. We all need a good belly laugh now and then its good for the soul.
Rachael
@Marilou, Sarah, Judy, Susan, and MJ: I’ve told Polo all about your best wishes, and he and I appreciate them greatly. He’s a wonderful guy and when he’s healthy, he’ll hopefully make a great riding horse. If the most he can ever do is going on walking trail rides, that’s perfectly OK. Every OTTB deserves a good home. None of them deserve the trailer ride to Canada or Mexico. They work their hardest for us, and when their hardest isn’t enough, they often end up in bad places or worse. So thanks to all of you for your support. Here’s to Zenny bringing all of us together!
DJ
Thank you Audrey C! Let’s see if this works. Aoneah, atwoah, athreewhinney…http://www.youtube.com/user/sgtreckless2010
