HAPPY 4th OF JULY!
I want to wish all of you a fantastic HOLIDAY WEEKEND and a very safe July 4th.
While many people will be off to the races, walking on the sand, and enjoying great barbeques, I’ll be here at Lane’s End having a special time as well. MY JOHN and his crew will be racing.
I’m looking forward to enjoying the sunshine, grazing on the bluegrass, and eating some of my favorite TREATS! As you can see, I’m happily awaiting a few bites from my ST. LEO’S friends in this photo. This is a visit I did to help fund-raise for a local school. I must say, the ladies were so gracious and brought ME the perfect treats!
The holiday weekend is also filled with a large number of fabulous stakes races. One in particular is of great interest to ME. On Monday, my dear, dear friend, HARMONIOUS, is running in the ROYAL HEROINE G-2 at Hollywood Park. It is one mile on the turf. This will be her first start since February when she tried the dirt at Santa Anita. Harmonious has a wonderful past performance record. She is a very accomplished turf filly by Dynaformer out of a mare named Jade Tree! I’m wishing her ALL THE BEST!
Harmonious and I spent a great deal of time together at Barn 55. We not only grazed together each morning and afternoon, but we shared MARIO as our groom. He is truly one terrific guy! As we would often be outside at the exact same time, Mario would be with ME and Frank would be with Harmonious. It worked out perfectly for everyone.
I believe this is one of the reasons why it was such a smooth transition for ME to share a paddock with other horses once I acclimated to life at Lane’s End. It was such a familiar and comfortable situation as I have literally spent years outside grazing at Barn 55 with other horses close by: Tiago, Life Is Sweet, Zardana, After Market and Harmonious to name a few. We always respected each other’s space, which is so important, and simply enjoyed sharing our time outdoors with each other. We could literally stand there and look around for hours and hours. We weren’t necessarily ‘eating anything’…we were just enjoying the time outdoors! Hmmmm, I still do that!
I’d personally like to wish HARMONIOUS and VALERIA (one of my Moss pals) GOOD LUCK in their races. They are both running on Monday, the 4th! Such FUN!
Enjoy your Holiday!
Please be safe!
With love,
Hugs to All~

Happy 4th of July! I’ll be watching Hollywood Park racing today! I have a friend “Practical Magic” running in the 3rd race at Hollywood Park. I may be a Kentucky girl, but I’ve made lots of friends in the West and follow their horses. It’s a TVG day for me, baby! Take care, Z, and know that I love and adore you!!! Good luck to your JOHN today! He and Dottie must be fantastic people! I saw them at Keeneland with you back in December – I even took photos! I was very excited to see them in person! I didn’t take a lot of photos because I was just cherishing the moment and watching your dance…also trying to keep my feet warm since it was a whopping 19 degrees out there! LOL Blessings, sweet girl!

Dear Z–wow! another great new entry. I am so thankful Dottie posts them so often because there would be 1,000 replies for us to read through if she didn’t!
Another hot day here in Texas. I won’t get a race report until the Bloodhorse site reports, but best of luck to HARMONIOUS and VALERIA.

Best wishes to Harmonious and Valeria in their races tomorrow. Very thoughtful of Harmonious to send you a message and a pic-she is very pretty! Your team really did do everything to make your transition easier. It’s nice to see Mario again, even if we can’t really see his face! Have a glorious weekend, sweet girl. Don’t get too hot! @Eveline-Thanks for providing the link to the Life at Ten story and the Noor article.@Sue Fredrick, Trina Nagele, Shari , Charlotte Farmer and others-The Adams/Jefferson story is amazing. I always thought that Jefferson was the man but after reading volumes on Adams I have come to believe that he was at least his equal. Shari, as a teacher, I would be interested in your opinion.@J Smith-Judy Berube is my hero. She has the ability to ferret out these links as I am also challenged technologically speaking.@Kim S-Hope you didn’t have to walk home.@Charlotte Farmer-YOur historical knowledge is amazing. If you review the article written by Jay Hovdey you will see that he included the address to which donations for Noor can be sent. I think that you are about to turn the corner. Also, I kn ew that lamb Chop and Quicken Tree were buried at Santa Anita but did not know that permission was needed to visit their graves. @Judy Berube and Judy Maass Gadwood-Judy’s My Angel is running in the 4th today at Hollywood Park. Interesting discussion on Life at ten on Today’s Roger Stein radio show. Stein is a local who used to train but has physical problems and can no longer do so. He deals with controversial subjects and this one is certainly that. he has a different perspective than I do, but that doesn’t make him wrong. His show has archives so anyone interested in this could listen at their leisure. He seems to think that Velasquez’s actions should be dealt with. OK,today’s joke–I first heard it as a polish joke so I apologize for that. That type of joke is now referred to as a dumb guy joke. Two dimwitted cowboys each bought themselves a horse. They agreed to keep their horses at a local farm and went there when they wished to ride. When winter was coming on, they got worried. How are we going to tell them apart when there is snowy weather, they wondered. Well we are not going to ride during the winter, one of them said to the other, so we will shave the mane of one of them and trim the tail of the other. This was agreed to. After the winter was over, the two dumb guys returned to the ranch only to discover that the horses hair had grown back. What are we going to do now?, one of them asked the other. The other guy said, well, both horses are worth about the same amount, so you take the white one and I’ll take the black one.

That should be Shari Voltz.

Dearest Sweet “Z”,
Don’t you look TOO CUTE with your eye on the next carrot! St. Leo the Great was a very special Pope who reigned from 440-461. He was instrumental in the Doctrine of the Incarnation. I hope you have a great day with St. Leo’s Friends on this special day of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. And I do believe you…almost, that you do not necessarily ‘eat anything’ but just look around for hours. ME TOO! With the garlic fries at H.P.! I don’t necessarily eat all of them either, just enjoy having them there and looking around at the horses for hours :) Ladies Secret..

Good luck to #8 Valeria with Talamo aboard on R7 and rooting also for #2 Harmonious with Rosario in R8! Go Z Team!

To Terry C: I hope the Cat doesn’t have your tongue! A joke would be just what the doctor ordered today!

To Sunny B: Some say Poodle some say Schnoodle, whatever little cutie-pie Sophie is, we can agree she’s Darling!
