Good Day Everyone!
Speaking of SLEEPING BEAUTY…..I’d like you to meet BRONZE BEAUTY!
She is an adorable 2 year old filly (by Latent Heat) who lives at Barn 55.
She finished her appetizer (in the little black bucket MY JOHN always had for US)
and then totally relaxed and took a nap.
The curious part of this is that she also did not want to ‘miss a thing’. She kept her
head close to the door to ‘check out’ what was also going on in the barn.
I remember it well! When I was at Barn 55, we would all be in our stalls after our
training, baths, and breakfast. Then between 12 and 3 each day, My John always
wanted everything nice and quiet and relaxed for us in the barn! It was our special
time to really stretch out, take it easy and rest! (Just like Bronze Beauty is doing in
this photo!)
During this time, he also kept the fans running for 2 reasons: (1) to keep the barn area
nice and cool for us and (2) allow the humming sound they provided to serve as a bit
of a distraction from all of the outside noise that could go on during this time.
Dottie teases him about this often…saying it is like providing a safe environment
and scheduled NAP TIME for a baby! My John just smiles. I know he really feels having
a routine is very important for all of us! Then, of course, in so many ways I know he
looks after ALL OF US as though we truly are his adorable “DUMPLINGS”.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Kari Bussell:
John truly loves his horses and that shows in his training of them. Hugs, J.B.

@Kathryn Cogswell-Ballerinas would do better on some artificial tracks than some horse do. There have been studies conducted since 2004 on the safety of dirt tracks and their various components but such a study is yet to come out about the artificial tracks. Maybe it is because there are so many different ones. @Dumplings–When you visit Del Mar, go down to the rail and take a look at the track. You will be amazed.

Dear DJ:

Terry Crow
@JAG and Barbara Wood Thank you. I posted it with some trepidation. @Gary Moulton-I don’t know that one. Is it because the horse was bashful? @Judy Berube-As you recall, I told you the story about the name of the horse that Trotter comes up after conducting his survey. Well, Del Mar has a race tomorrow called the Fleet Treat stakes.

Have to smile every time I look at the photo of sleeping Bronze Beauty and her empty appetizer dish — does she get a Guinness with the appetizer or is she too young to drink?

@Judy B, Step is running tonight (I think). He has moved up a little in class.
Terry Crow
@Judy Berube- Thanks for the link. I saw Fleet Treat run several times, a really good horse, but a cut below what I would consider great. I remember when I first saw the film wondering why that name was used, but didn’t think much more about it. @DJ-One for you. I went to a high school production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat because a friend of mine’s son was in it. At intermission the group of us went outside for the others to smoke. One of our group, I can’t remember who, said something to the affect of I wonder what happens next. I looked around the group and nobody said anything. Finally, I said “Didn’t any of you attend Sunday school?”
Sue Fredrick
@Kari Bussell, yes that is the one, I have been searching every photographers portfolio for days, it would be so great if you knew where I could find it and order one.
Karen
Peaceful atmosphere, just the way is should be for napping.

@Terry C: What JAG and Barbara Wood said about your latest joke. I cannot tell jokes. Used to try to tell good ones I had heard to my husband, but I would start laughing and be able to tell just the punch line or part of it. He is a patient man and would say, “please just don’t tell me.” I do read yours to him if he is around:)(It’s a building confidence thing.)
DMCQ
@DJ: Thanks for the morning prayer. It works for afternoon too!
Terry Crow
@Judy Berube-Just caught your post on Blazing saddles. I think that the campfire scene is very funny. I saw it in a theater and, when the scene came on, everybody looked around to see if anyone was laughing. One person did, and that opened the floodgates. Of course, not everyone shares or appreciates my sense of humor. I still think the funniest TV episode of all time was Chuckles Bites the Dust from the Mary Tyler Moore show. It barely edges any episode of Cop Rock.

I have been thinking a lot about the two deaths at Old Friends. Weather people and doctors warn senior citizens to stay indoors during the hot humid weather and it occurs to me that same rules may apply to equine seniors. I don’t recall seeing a lot of barn space at Old Friends and so am thinking that maybe the weather could have been a contributing cause of the sudden passing of the two horses. It also occurs to me that if Old Friends could use some barn space and fans then we could use our combined forces on this site to fund raise. I’m not sure how it could be arranged, but a link to Paypal is a thought. Does anybody have any ideas?

Ms Zenyatta, have a wonderful weekend. I love you and I love that Baby Bump. Hope to see your pic on a post soon. Sleep well..Lisa g

@JB and Gary M: I picked Dahoud in the 7th race at DelMar for my friend’s BD. He is 7/2. Whatya think? I hope he at least shows for her.

Dear Terry Crow:
Chuckles the Clown: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YmBK5GslDaQ&feature=related
Terry Crow
@Judy Berube-Thanks for the link. There is a part earlier in the episode when Mary is describing to Lou the various characters that Chuckles used on his show. One of them was Aunt Yoo Hoo. Lou asked Mary what he did as Aunt Yoo Hoo. She said, Nothing much. he would wave, turn his backside to the camera, and there would be a sign on his bloomers which said the end. Murray then piped up and said maybe they ought to bury him that way. If you ever get a chance to see this, do. Chuckles died on the show when he was acting as Grand Marshall of a circus parade dressed as one of his characters, Peter Peanut, and an elephant tried to shell him.
Terry Crow
@DMCQ-I can’t tell them either. Here nobody can see my face. @Judy Berube-Official cause of death for Chuckles. A busted goober.
Bernie
Love you’Z’

@Brenda S: I think you’ve a wonderful idea..if I had alot money it would not just go to a chance to see Our Queen, it would go to Old Friends as well…and someone posted a link to ReRun on this post..there is another organization I respect.
