Good Day Everyone!
Speaking of SLEEPING BEAUTY…..I’d like you to meet BRONZE BEAUTY!
She is an adorable 2 year old filly (by Latent Heat) who lives at Barn 55.
She finished her appetizer (in the little black bucket MY JOHN always had for US)
and then totally relaxed and took a nap.
The curious part of this is that she also did not want to ‘miss a thing’. She kept her
head close to the door to ‘check out’ what was also going on in the barn.
I remember it well! When I was at Barn 55, we would all be in our stalls after our
training, baths, and breakfast. Then between 12 and 3 each day, My John always
wanted everything nice and quiet and relaxed for us in the barn! It was our special
time to really stretch out, take it easy and rest! (Just like Bronze Beauty is doing in
this photo!)
During this time, he also kept the fans running for 2 reasons: (1) to keep the barn area
nice and cool for us and (2) allow the humming sound they provided to serve as a bit
of a distraction from all of the outside noise that could go on during this time.
Dottie teases him about this often…saying it is like providing a safe environment
and scheduled NAP TIME for a baby! My John just smiles. I know he really feels having
a routine is very important for all of us! Then, of course, in so many ways I know he
looks after ALL OF US as though we truly are his adorable “DUMPLINGS”.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Signofthetimes:
Think she’s going to be a good one. BTW, did you get a chance to see the video of Galileo, Frankel’s Daddy, I posted on Diary #305? Hugs, J.B.
judy berube
Dear Max:
You’re so welcome. I love this video and you’re so right, Z and her Team do make you feel good about life. Hugs, J.B.
darlene
John is such a good and caring trainer you were lucky to have him Z as are the horses now in Barn 55 Love ya Z
Brenda S
@ Judy B – What a lovely video Judy, you always find the most amazing stuff. Life Is Sweet reminds me of getting Vic up for school. The video confirms what a loving, caring and safe place Barn 55 is when horses stretch out like that and don’t even move when disturbed.

Kc: Are you here for Green Hour? Am with you in the downsouth story…your turn. It is afterall, that time!? For you pouring Vexenat…a needed corpse reviver for me. A day like no other.
Debbie
Oh that is too cute. I love how “Your John” is so nurturing. That’s why you are so special with people! Love you Z.
Trina Nagele
@Tony—Good point. I hope maybe Dottie will get Steve to share some more tales about riding Z when she was two. For those who may not have read it, here’s what Steve had to say in “Zenyatta’s people: Exercise rider Steve Willard” by Brad Free. http://www.drf.com/news/zenyattas-people-exercise-rider-steve-willardhttp://www.drf.com/news/zenyattas-people-exercise-rider-steve-willard
@Zenny—Steve says you wanted to be your own boss when you were a baby and exercise riders were a little afraid of you—I bet you don’t remember any of that, do you! But he knew you were good, and he loved the challenge!
Diana S
@Barbara Grimaldi: Zenyatta University? I love it! (You get an A by the way.)
@Karen Gogue: “over-the-Humpling-Dumpling”? I am laughing so hard I’ve gotta go find Mr. Ed.!
“@You people: All this funny stuff is gonna make me and Terry Crow jealous. (But keep up the good work!) As for everyone (now Teacher needs a Guinness!)

For those who would like an Evening Prayer:
………………………………….
O Father, whose creating hand
Brings harvest from the fruitful land,
Your providence we gladly own,
And bring our hymns before your throne
To praise you for the precious bread
On which our lives are daily fed,
O Lord, who in the desert fed
The hungry thousands in their need,
Where want and famine still abound
Let your relieving love be found,
And in your name may we supply
Your hungry creatures when they cry,
O Spirit, your revealing light
Has led our questing souls aright;
Source of our science, you have taught
The marvels human minds have wrought,
So that the barren deserts yield
The bounty by your love revealed.

Have no clue where that “As for everyone” came from. Really. Okay, it was just a little teensy sip of Guinness – – – .

Zenyatta,
What a cute picture of Bronze Beauty taking her afternoon nap. :) John really loves his horses, and they love him right back. Stay Cool Big Mama. xoxo.
Michelle Cross
How sweet! Z, I think you and Dottie are very lucky to have a sweet man like John in your life. He is very special.

@JAG and Anne from Paramount
Thank you Judy to the link for the video and fan photos from above. I had not seen this before – made me teary again, none of us that day wanted to let go…it may appear that we were having a good time, but lurking underneath was an emptyness that can’t be explained for what was to come later that day…the long goodbye and Zenny walking down the track back to Barn 55, disappearing, us not knowing what to do ….we would not see her race ever again…it was sinking in…sadness…
(Wonderful video George(?) must purchase the book.) Yes, your humble humpling dumpling chipmunk cheeks sisterchick IS in the video and the fan photos! I am holding the goodbye, so long poster at the paddock rail…I also see Anne, Maggie and Don (fellow big time Z’sters!) in the photo and video with Judy’s friends in the ears! Too cute – I was there at the Barn that day when they came in their ears to see Zenny – too cute indeed. John got the biggest kick out of them and, of course, took their photo. He had the biggest grin on his face all day after seeing the girls’ Zenny ears! It was a great day to visit The Queen; but with heavy hearts we knew saying so long the next day would be the lowest of lows and the end of Zennyland…now only in our dreams….
Debbie
We finally arrived in Lexington. Can’t wait to visit with you tomorrow. My daughter has been counting the days down til now! She said she is more excited about getting to see you than Christmas & Santa!! Sleep well my Queen & we will see you tomorrow! We love you!
Kim S
Zenny, you have the most wonderful people. Bronze Beauty is TOO CUTE and that picture speaks volumes about “Your John”.
I just finished reading Greatest Kentucky Derby Upsets, with the last story being about Giacomo. His sire was Holy Bull who ran in the 1994 Derby, under Mike Smith, and lost. Steve Haskin wrote about the Giacomo Derby upset and started this story with the loss of Holy Bull, who was favored in 1994.
In the third sentence of the first paragraph, Steve wrote (this book was published in 2007) “Jockey Mike Smith, his cheeks caked with mud, has just dismounted the vanquished 2-1 favorite Holy bull, the greatest horse he has ever ridden and likely will ever ride.”
I just had to chuckle about that. Knowing what we all know now…..poor Holy Bull. I think Mike has a different greatest now and I’m sure Steve Haskin will agree :)
@Trina Nagele–:) no, I was not expecting that from William but will be more vigilant now.
@Diana S–Sounds like you need a break from the Z Dumpling name tags. Hope you got some fresh air :) Thanks for your hard work, I’ll be checking my mail.
@Abigail from Montreal–thanks for that link to Frederic Pignon and Lancelot. I saw Cavalia last summer in Tampa FL and would go to see it again. What a spectacular show! If you are a horse lover, even if you aren’t, you have to be impressed with the horses and the people of this show.
@Terry Crow–you did it again, LOL
@Gary Moulton–LOL to your poem too. IF only certain people would end up “reincarnated”.
@JAG–thanks for the great link to Zenyatta at Home. Would love that black and white of Zenny framed and hanging in my home.
Have a great night Zenny. I know you feel the love of all “Your” people. We feel the love from you. Thanks John, Dottie, Jerry and Ann for continuing to let us “get it” from Zenyatta.
Lotsa love to all.

Dear DJ:
Thank you. Hugs, J.B.
Karen Gogue
I must add to my post above…the atmosphere at Barn 55 was uplifting, a good time had by all… John and Team Z made it all the more special, everyone was treated like one of their own, family, with kindness and good cheer, to celebrate this great mare on her journey to her new home…there was no sadness that day…we weren’t letting that overshadow Zenny…who was regal and beautiful, John’s love and care made it so…
judy berube
Dear Brenda S.:
Thank you for your kind words. Love this video, Z’s Team and all Z’s Fans. Hugs, J.B.

Hi Zenyatta, Dottie and John
This diary entry is one of the sweetest, most beautiful stories yet.
Thanks for sharing and providing this most cute picture.
Your friend Lynne from Surey, B.C

Abigail: thanks for the link to Lancelot and the ” at liberty” demo. I never tire of seeing such talented animals with their devoted trainers!
Queen Z…you were one of the lucky ones to land in such caring and loving hands so you were able to reach greatness!
Beth Buckley
I think that John must be a wonderful human being with a special “magic touch” when it comes to his horses. They are fortunate indeed.

DJ: Lines for the ages: “Where want and famine still abound .. . Let your relieving love be found . .. ~ Bob Mulligan, in his commentary for ‘To Kill A Mockingbird,’ said Mary Badham was introduced w/ no stage or film experience, but Phillip Alford had been onstage as one of the children in a Southern production of ‘The King And aah.’ ~ Whatever you`re serving, I`m having.

Oh! I forgot to mention that Gina was in the video too! Sorry Gina!

@Baby results – 07-28-11
.
SARATOGA –
Race 5 – Finally got one for the money but couldn’t catch the under numbers. The winner was the 2nd favorite. In this one the Bumps ended up 1st, 6th, 7th. -$6.00
.
DEL MAR –
Race 8 – Didn’t fair well in this one either but this is the kind of race you want to hit. The dollar tri pd $2728.90. “Arethereanycookies” held the Grandma Spot and paid $7.20 to show. The other two finished 5th & 10th. -$6.00
.
@DJ – After the 7 years were up people came from all countries to buy grain from Joseph because the whole world was starving. I know the story well. I’m sorry the devil got him today just like his brothers did 7 years before. “JOSEPH JOE” was 6th at the 3/8 pole, 6th in the stretch, & 6th in the end. I couldn’t find the other two. Do you read the Racing Form? You need to look for a live one on Sunday. I know “Crown of Thorns” won on a Saturday but I think that is because his name is extra special.
.
@Terry Crow – You’re welcome. I hope you’re feeling better, I also hope your appointment is not that close. When it’s my time I hope to be laughing all the way. Did you play “Stoney Fleece” in my baby race? Why did the racehorse go behind the tree?
.
@ Barbara Grimaldi – Thank you – I really like the Saddle Rating System, we should adapt it to the races somehow. Maybe Zenny will start feeling sorry for me because I can’t pick a winner. Maybe she could give us a horse once in a while and use the saddle rating as to what chance she gives the horse. Yes I do believe and will continue to do so until someone answers the question “What came first, the chicken or the egg” Until I get that answer there must be something out there.
.
@ Trina Nagele – You’re welcome – That little twist made me think of a joke but I can’t tell it here. I was so worried before I posted it that someone might think I’m calling “Bobby” a piece of poop but that was not my intention at all. I thought as a fellow horseman he would get a kick out of it because the comeback was through a horse.
.
@ judy berube – Thanks for the luck. I need all the luck I can get. I just have to many irons in the fire right now and I might get branded by one of them if I can’t keep up. I wish I had more time to research the ponies.
.
@ signofthetimes – No, didn’t hit it but I was in it for a while. Ck above for results. But hay, don’t worry, when or if I hit one you will hear about it. Look for all CAPS, LOL!!!
.
-$12.00 today – $75.00 Going into tomorrow.

Good Evenng Queen “Z” I have been so busy planning a retirement for my dear friend and employee of over 27 years. Although he and I have worked together for 24 of those years he has become a loving member of my family. Like you, he will be missed. But as we all know there comes a time when one earns the time to sit back and relax and enjoy new ventures in life. With him it will be resting and you on to motherhood.
Very much like your retirement I had tears of sadness and joy. This is truly very hard, but I hold all the times and memories we have shared close to my heart.
I have missed reading your posts for the past couple of days and plan on catching up over the weekend. I love the picture above. I think John has a fondness for chesnut and dark horses!
Exciting news in Harness Racing. See you at Peelers a filly going for her 21st win tonight at Yonkers. Listing to TVG this afternoon they compared her record to yours. Pretty amazing. Let’s wish her the best.
Have a wonderful evening to all Z Fans and Dumplings.
Hugs and kisses

That`s what ‘The Swat Team!’ `s about, DJ, ***we circle the wagons. [*** ‘a day like no other.’ ^ ??!]. Count 5 (five) things that broke well; they blossom to multiples compounding, & the question becomes, ‘Where to stop?’ ` K. [lighting a candle about this at The Grateful Station] . ..
