Good Morning to All~
Happy Tuesday! Everything is moving right along perfectly at the farm. I am able to go outside with my pal, Tasty Temptation, and relax for hours at a time. As you can see in the photo, I am just like so many of you. My coat gets ‘lovely high-lights’ from the sun and I do need to have my ‘sunglasses’ (aka fly mask) on when outdoors.
I must say, this mask is a fabulous accessory to have. Not only does it keep the flies off of my face and away from my eyes…but it also screens out some of the sun and direct light…which is quite helpful!
We have had really warm weather recently. I’ve heard that it is also quite warm back home in Arcadia (by Santa Anita). Dottie looked up the temperature for today and it is to be 93 degrees in Lexington. It is even a bit warmer than that in Arcadia. As I have mentioned before, Charles and the guys here monitor how hot it is for ME. If too warm, I am taken back to the barn where the fans are keeping it nice and cool. I must say, I am one very lucky girl!
It is also the first of the month and as MY TEAM requested, they weighed me. I am gaining just the right amount of weight for this stage of my pregnancy. YIPPEE! I am eating all of the right foods and drinking LOTS of water to stay properly hydrated….so this is all good! I’m really trying to do all the RIGHT THINGS here to be a GREAT MOM!
In racing, for many of the major race tracks, today is a ‘dark day’…meaning the tracks are closed. So for quite a few people who work with the horses, this is a more relaxed day and they have some time off. Whether going to the lake, to play golf, or to have fun in the ocean, I hope everyone remembers to be careful in the sun, drink lots of water, and wear your ‘sunglasses’….JUST LIKE ME!
Have a very pleasant day!
With love,
Hugs to All~

Happy Tuesday Zenyatta! Yes, it’s hot already in Carlsbad, Ca. The sun was out really early today. Thanks to you Dottie for all the updates on Zenyatta. We know you are one busy lady, but it is so appreciated by all of us. Hope to catch a glimpse of you at Del Mar. We do miss Zenyatta but enjoy all her former pals. Such a great post yesterday about Hootie.
Thanks so much
Trisha Veazey
A fashion statement if ever I saw one! You have to be careful in the sun pretty girl. Can’t have you having a heat stroke. You are one lucky girl to have Charles and your guys keeping you safe and healthy.
Love, hugs and kisses
Abigail from Montreal
Zenny: I just LOVE this photo of you and you are certainly getting highlights to your coat from all that sunshine. I am VERY glad to hear that your mask also acts like sunglasses because there is no question that we ALL need to protect our eyes from the sun. In fact, according to eye doctors, eye cancer will be very common in people that ignore the “sunglasses warning.” This is because our ozone layer is unable to protect us the way it once did. I THINK YOU SHOULD BE HIRED TO APROMOTE THE NEED TO WEAR SUNGLASSES, SWEETIE! Once people see that you can be “chic in shades” they might just pay attention!!!!

That grass looks delicious!! My horses and I love living in New Mexico but we do miss having lush pastures:)

You are such a typical gal, Z: I notice you didn’t give us your weight. hahahaha :)

Good Morning Sweet Zenyatta! I haven’t been on here in awhile, but you are still in my thoughts. I have a picture of you in my home office, so I get to see your pretty face every day! You look just “BEAUTIFUL” as always in this picture. I’m so happy to hear you are doing well (you and baby). Hugs & Kisses to you Sweet Mama!

Awwwwww, Z, you look so peaceful in your paddock. Dozey wears her fly mask too. Going to be 100 here today, so Doz will go out in the morning (now) and come in during the hot part of the day. She loves her fan too. She also loves to stand in the paddock when the sprinklers are on (they are set on top of the fence so it is safe) and she gets really wet. She loves it, and she tries to catch the water in her mouth. Fun, lazy summer days. Have a wonderful day Z! xxoo

Hardly recognized you – what a gorgeous bay you have turned into! On real hot days, when the flies get bad, my horses wear not only fly masks (with ears) but fly boots on their front legs and one horse who is very sensitive sometimes wears a fly sheet too. This makes them very relaxed and I don’t have to apply chemical repellents. Everyone enjoy the day!

Zenyatta, my granddaughter, Danielle & I had one of our dreams come true, we had the pleasure of meeting and spending some time with your good friend Mike Smith. He is a perfect gentleman and we love him even more now (if thats possible) I work at Calder Race Course, in Miami, Fl. and Mike was riding for the day. Our next dream will be to come visit you. You look so good, we follow your every post and Danielle has been working on a scrapbook of you & is patiently waiting for your foal!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!! p.s. we also know Jeanne,April & Jacki….they are so lucky to have seen you and touched you. xoxo

How lovely you look Zenyatta.

Hi Big Mama Z! The first thing I noticed when I saw that photo was you look like you’re nearly chestnut! I was beginning to wonder if it was really you! Glad they are keeping you cool if it gets too hot out there. Hang with the fans, girl. You’ve got to be as comfortable as possible! Happy to hear all is going well with junior. Love to all of Team Z. XOXO!

You are changing colors pretty girl!

Zen, you look wonderful! No longer the lean, mean racing machine but a fuller, more mature-looking momma-to-be. Just look at all of that lush, green KY grass. What a banquet for you and your friends. What good care Lane’s End takes of not only their horses, but their pastures, as well. It’s so comforting to know that you are there and being looked after so well.
Beth Buckley
All that green grass. Where does one decide to start chomping?
Gloria Jeanne
Zenyatta- you look so beautiful. I saw from friends this weekend and all we did was talk about you! It was TOO CUTE and so much fun to re-visit our wonderful memories of your dancing and your racing career. You bring so much joy, laugher and happieness to so many people.
Thank you!!!
Kay
And might i add, no one would KNOW IT’S YOU out there….can’t see your beautiful blaze….grazing around, enjoying yourself just like a regular young mom-to-be.
Elizabeth
Hello, Zenyatta! You look so comfortable, and beautiful, as always. So glad that all is going well with your and your baby’s health. I am sure you will be a wonderful Mom!
I just got to see a great weekend of racing at Saratoga, including seeing Bernie’s colt Stay Thirsty go wire to wire in the Jim Dandy – very, very exciting and I have lots of great pictures to capture all my fond memories! I also saw French-bred filly Zagora win the Grade I Diana – her trainer, Chad Brown, was mentored by the late Bobby Frankel and in the postrace interview, he gave much credit to Mr. Frankel for teaching him so many valuable lessons about horse training and giving him lots of insight into European horses. Also, the Diana was one of Mr. Frankel’s favorite races!
I just love this time of year!
Take care and stay cool, Lady Z!
Love,
Elizabeth

Hi, Zenny,
Happy Tuesday back at ya, girl! Your Mikey was interviewed recently about his “Battle of the Exes” race coming up…he was “too cute” as you say! That will be so much fun to watch and as he said, hopefully bring the fans out and some attention to the sport!

I see all that beautiful Kentucky blue grass and think about that little patch you had back at Barn 55! You must walk outside every day and think how beautiful your surroundings are. I’m still so happy for you that you are adapting to being “just a horse” so well, although, you will never, ever be “just a horse” to your fans.

Big hugs, big girl! Your friend, Ann Maree
ashley
Your lookin’ classy with that fly mask zenyatta! I’m lovin’ the fact that your in one of the biggest greenest pastures I have ever seen, you deserve it! I hope your enjoying yourself:)

Dearest Z–Abigail from Montreal is right. You ARE “chic in shades”. I think that would be a wonderful campaign. I always wear mine outside.
Patti Spencer–Lucky you to have had a visit with OUR Mike! Glad it was pleasant.
That grass looks so green and inviting–I’d love to pop over and share a salad with you, sweet Z.
Sharon Call
@Barbara Grimaldi. From post 309. Wow, you’re technicolor! Soaking in a warm tub with epsom salts really helped me with bruising and achy joints.
@Kari Bussell. From post 309. I’m so honored, I hardly know what to say. I rarely think of things like making videos but I love Pavarotti’s Nessun Dorma so much and while listening to it yet again, I got a mental picture of Z running in that showy paddock when he hit that high C at the end of the aria and it just stuck with me. I can just see her running and whinnying (sp?) and I can hear him singing that aria and it just takes my breath. “I Will Win” – so symbolic and just plain beautiful. I so hope you can put this together. My technological expertise stops with Excel, Word and Power Point. Look forward so much to it.
