Happy Friday,
Today is a very memorable day in our industry. The CLASS of 2011 is being inducted into the Hall of Fame which is located at the National Museum of Racing in Saratoga Springs, New York.
The induction ceremonies will be shown this morning on HRTV. They are taking place at 10:30 Eastern Time in the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion. Bobby Flay is hosting the presentation along with broadcaster, Randy Moss. The festivities are open to the public.
Congratulations to all of the 2011 inductees:
Jerry Hollendorfer and Matthew Byrnes, Trainers
Shelby “Pike” Barnes, a Jockey who starred in the 1880’s
Duke of Magenta, Open Mind, Safely Kept, and Sky Beauty, Horses
Sarah was so sweet and took some other photos for us to share of the Museum. I hope you enjoy them.
I wanted to show you ROBERT FRANKEL’S plaque on the wall…as Dottie actually wrote the script for it for Bobby.
Have a wonderful weekend! Enjoy all of the fabulous racing taking place around the country during the next few days and HAVE FUN!
Perhaps we’ll see some future Hall of Famers in action and running this weekend! HOOVES CROSSED!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Congratulations to HOF Class of 2011)

What great photos by Sarah, and how exciting a day it must be for the 2011 Hall of Fame inductees and their connections! We cannot wait for Zenyatta’s day to arrive! When might she be eligible for consideration (she is a shoo-in!). There will have to be a ton of Kleenex available for attendees on that spectacular day! If I have to arrive by Med Helicopter I am determined to be there! I did not know that “your voice” wrote the script for Bobby Frankel’s placque, dearest Z. I wish we might have a close-up, so that we could read the wonderful words inscribed there, in honor of her most extraordinary friend.
Nancy
Thank you for your continued updates on so many subjects in the horsing world.

p.s. On yesterday’s wall I posted the similarities I’ve had the Zenyatta. Well, last night as I lay in bed, I realized I forgot one more! Years ago when I lived in Hollywood, CA, I used to drive by A&M Records on a frequent basis! I’d look over at that stunning building and hoped I’d see a famous recording artist LOL Little did I know years later I’d cross paths with Jerry Moss! :-)

@Georgia Harper, I would be in shock to, have you found that Perfect Place yet, or just having fun deciding still…You are such a lucky girl..Lisa g

Hi Zenny, I just watched the Hall of Fame induction. Especially Safely Kept!! Wow that was a long speech, but very entertaining. Congrats to the breeders, the Haydens. Zenny I’m sure you’ll have your own plaque before long. Have been there a few times, but still would like to read what Dottie wrote on Bobby’s plaque.
Cheryl Smith
Happy Friday. Congratulations to all!

What is the waiting period to be inducted?
As we all know, the Queen and her John will be in there as soon as eligible.
Lorri
Thanks for sharing Momma Z! And congratulations to HOF Class of 2011! I have now added a trip to the HOF on my “bucket list”! xoxo
Celeste
How beautiful!! Thank you for sharing all the photos of the Hall of Fame. I enjoyed watching the ceremonies this morning on the computer. Wonderful for three fillies/mares to be chosen as the contemporary category. Wonder who else we all know and love will someday be there?
Lisa g
Isn’t the waiting periiod 5 years or something, if not, there is a 5 year waiting period for something…I just do not know what. Does anyone know when Zenyatta and John will be eligible?

@all-I have been catching up on yesterday’s posts.@J Smith-Have you been able to check out the horses in the surf at Del Mar? @signofthetimes, Deborah Richman Trina Nagele, Doreen and Barbara Wood-Glad you enjoyed the jokes. After all, I do this for you “guys.” @Kim S and Lil from KY-Really funny.@signofthetimes-Karen Gogue is the one who tipped us off about JAG’s prison uniform. I agree. She should wear it to the big match. @Trina Nagele-Bill Dwyre’s article was very interesting. reinforced my opinion on Frank Stronach. Bill already knows about that as we have discussed it several times.@Charlotte Farmer-My respect and admiration for you knows no bounds. I am getting a lot of competition lately, so I know that the joke tradition will be in good hands when I am ready to retire. Here is today’s joke–An elderly man lay dying in his bed. In death’s agony, he suddenly smelled the aroma of his favorite chocolate chip cookies wafting up the stairs. He gathered his remaining strength and lifted himself from the bed. Leaning against the wall, he slowly made his way out of the bedroom, and with even greater effort forced himself down the stairs, gripping the railing with both hands. With labored breath, he leaned against the door frame and gazed into the kitchen. Were it not for death’s agony, he would have thought himself already in heaven. There, spread out upon racks on the kitchen table was literally hundreds of his favorite chocolate chip cookies. Was it heaven? Or was it one final act or heroic love from his devoted wife, seeing to it that he left this world a happy man? Mustering one great final effort, he threw himself toward the table, landing on his knees in a rumpled posture. His parched lips parted. The wondrous taste of the cookie was already in his mouth, seemingly bringing him back to life. “Stay lout of those,” she said, “they’re for the funeral.”

@Kari Bussell-Happy birthday! @DJ-Hope you are feeling better.

Hi, Zenny,
Thanks for the info about the HOF….will visit their web site, as I would love to read the inscription that Dottie wrote for Bobby Frankel, if it’s posted there.

What an interesting life YOUR DOTTIE has led. I do hope she will consider writing a book or books! She’s such a gifted writer and her knowledge along with having John as a resource is just so deep. I can see a “Zenyatta and Me” type of book, a second book about her life and experiences, and then a third, a coffee table-style book co-written with John and filled with all the wonderful memorabilia and photos they have collected. Hope I’m still around to read these if they should come to pass.

Big hugs, have a great weekend! Ann Maree
