Hello Everyone,
As you can see in this photo, I am out walking with Charles and enjoying myself. Everyone at the farm is teasing Charles about how many new friends he is getting on FACEBOOK now that he and I are pals. It is very cute! Such fun!
I am so glad you enjoyed yesterday’s Diary on SHOES. I do hope as you read these Diary Pages you are learning things about race horses and the horse industry. All breeds of horses are very special and unique. As I am a THOROUGHBRED, my Diary will be directed to this breed. Thoroughbred race horses are very special. John used to always tell me that when I was at the barn! It is a breed to be cherished and the history of the pedigree lines is fascinating.
I’m going to take a couple moments and answer a few of your questions this morning.
So here goes…
1) 60 MINUTES…from what they told Dottie, they will air my original segment during the summer and then add the updates to it. They often do this with segments…and mine is one they are planning on using. We’ll let you know when we hear more.
2) MARIO…my adorable, wonderful Mario! He does miss me, for sure, but as he told John, he is SO HAPPY I am happy. He really appreciates and loves the fact that I was able to have such an amazing racing career and then retire so sound and healthy. This makes Mario so proud! This is what is helping make the transition easier for him.
I will always LOVE MARIO and totally and completely remember every single moment that we shared. I could not begin to tell you how many times he brushed me, put on my stall bandages, gave me a bath…and most importantly HUGGED ME! We also spent countless hours outside just relaxing and enjoying the sun together while I was grazing! I will always remember MARIO and LOVE HIM. I know he feels exactly the SAME WAY ABOUT ME!
John is really trying to keep Mario and the entire barn up-to-date on my progress. Dottie sends ALL photos and videos to John for the barn to see. John has lots of computers at the barn…and all of things are shared with my Barn 55 friends. (FYI…John is a real camera buff! He has zillions of photos of me on a constant slide-show on his one computer at the house. He loves taking pictures and has taken lots of photos of me since I was 2. In reality, John has my entire life in photos! It is wonderful to see all of these stages I have gone through during the last several years.)
3) Christmas Tree…yes, I do have a Christmas Tree at the farm. Also, I noticed that one of you put a photo of your ZENYATTA HOLIDAY tree on my FACEBOOK page. It looks fabulous! Love the ornament at the top of the TREE!
4) Guinness…yes, I do have some Guinness here…and sometimes a bit is also put in my feed. Interestingly, the Guinness Company wanted ME to go to Ireland this spring to visit and bring John, Dottie and the Moss’ with me. Great thought…but not sure that would fit into my schedule. Sweet of them to offer, though.
5) My barn friends…yes, we are getting to be more and more acquainted in the barn. For now, I walk around in the paddock by myself. Soon, I will be able to start buddying up with one girlfriend at a time. As this is all new to me, it will be another of those baby-steps we are talking about. I will get introduced to one friend at a time in the paddock. Eventually, I’ll be out there with several friends all at once, but for now, I just see them outside across the fence. They really do seem to like me, though. It is a nice feeling!
6) LIFE IS SWEET…I have not seen her yet as she is in a barn with mares who are IN FOAL and will be foaling at a similar time. At this time, we are at different stages of our lives. I am just settling in at the farm and doing the acclimation process and she is in foal and with mares who are at the similar stage of their lives. Soon, I hope there is a time, though, when we will be able to meet again. During our time at John’s barn, we were very, very good friends. Interesting fact…Mario groomed and took care of BOTH of us!
Dottie, John, Mario and Steve all got to visit with LIFE IS SWEET when they were here last week. They told me she looks fabulous and very happy. She was always so lovely! Isabelle (who was her regular rider…like Steve was for me) and Jenny also went to see her when they were in KY for Breeders’ Cup. It is wonderful how my Barn 55 Family keeps in touch with us even when we are not with them. It is a special bond we ALL SHARE for sure.
Also,I think Life is Sweet’s little sister is here in the barn with me. I’ve asked Dottie to please check this out. If so, she will be one of my paddock friends. Again…amazing how things are so interwoven like this.
Today, in addition to all of my outings in the paddock and visits from friends, I have a few appointments…blacksmith and vet. They are just checking in on me to be sure I’m in perfect shape. Just like you guys, I have to keep myself in tip-top shape and do my regular check-ups. I’ll have to check and see when the Dentist is coming next. Sonny was my Horse Dentist in CA. Wonder who it will be here?
Take Care…and have a wonderful December Day!
With love,
Hugs to all~

What a great post! So glad to have a nice close-up of Charles and Z. What is his job at Lane’s End? Charles must be about 6′ tall being that Z is 17.2 hands which is 5’10” at the withers. I’m looking forward to more of Dottie’s thoroughbred schooling for all of us on these posts. I guess everybody is getting ready for Christmas.

These Diary Post are so up lifting and great. I really feel like she is talking to me. Why does this horse still make me cry everytime? I love her so much. I still think I was related to her or I was her momma, in another life I feel so close to her. Do I sound nutts????

Thanks for letting us read your diary. Love it! I can’t believe the Guiness folks and a lots of others wouldn’t have you on speed dail to endorse their products. Nobody can resist a beautiful mare, and you my Zenyatta are the most beautiful of all.

I am only the 2nd reply! Cool…really enjoy reading the diary of my Lady Legend every day. it’s the high point of my life. Glad to hear everything is great and taking baby steps. Don’t want anything to happen to my favorite horse in the whole world. Love you Zenny, more than you will ever know. Maybe someday I can fly out there to see you. Love and kisses from New Jersey oxoxox

I was able to purchase the 60 minutes segment on Zenyatta on amazon.com. Why wait for a replay?
Also, it was very foolish to let slip that John has thousands of photos of Queen Z…now we will be clamoring to see them! Pretty please??

Zenny, you look so beautiful and relaxed in the photo above.
Thank you for the daily updates – they brighten my day every day when I read these.
I had a dream last night that I met you at Lane’s End! Hope it comes true someday.
Hugs and kisses from Ohio.
P.S. We would love a link to Charles’ Facebook page!

John> Why not write a picture album for us fans to buy. It would be as beautiful as your subject. After all it is QUEEN ZENYATTA.Zen, I miss seeing you with Mario but must admit Charles is very handsome by your side. Keep those spirits up girl love ya

Zenyatta I am glad you are taking time to educate your non-horsey fans who love you as much as the horse knowing fans do. Yes Thoroughbreds are very special. They are also Very Very Smart. Besides running they can jump running fast like steeplechasing or eventing or very collected like show jumpers and hunters. They are also awesome dressage horses. I think you would like that. Its a lot like your dance moves. You tell Charles to take care of you. Keep on with the hand walking too icey and slick for you to go galloping around on. Love you Z! Secsea Dance, Salawgi, Simon, and Picasso.

Zenyatta, you look so beautiful in the snow, but I know you are looking forward to playing in the paddock in the spring with all of your new friends. Thanks, Lane’s End for all of the updates and all you are doing for our beloved Queen. I can’t wait to come visit you!! Stay warm and have a great week.
Alyssa
Glad to hear Zenny is settling in well! I think more people need to have Facebook pages and follow-ups like you guys have for Zenyatta…I follow Uncle Mo on Facebook, and I know Rachel Alexandra has a page too but they don’t really give you any info on how she’s doing NOW. In my opinion it’s more interesting/important to hear how they are doing after they retire – it’s fairly easy to find articles and pictures of horses that are currently racing, but not so much the retired ones.
You know this means all of Zenny’s babies are going to need FB pages and diaries too!

Good Morning Z. . Nice to see Charles with a big smile, you tend to have that effect on everyone. What with all your public photo experience and the W magazine spread you may have Charles posing in GQ before long. He Will have to get a pair of appropriate gloves to go with the outfit! . . .and you with your sexy bare feet. Lucky Girl! Member of the Dumb Club question for the day. Will you be ridden by anyone ever again as part of your fitness program? Peace & Love
Bridget
Awwwww…. Mario. Made me weepy, but happy he’s happy, that she’s happy!!!!!! I LOVE this post!!!!!!!!!!!

Zenyatta,
I love getting all this information and education along with daily visits to your website. So appreciate everyone keeping us up to date on our wonderful Zenyatta!! I have learned so very much about my favorite girl as well as the breed itself. All the work that goes into maintaining the website and updating Zenyattas fans will do so much for the thoroughbred industry……everyone can see how much love and care is given to such special creatures. The affection and love that has been shown to Zenyatta since her birth has played such a huge part in the personality she is today. Thank you to the Mosses, John and Dottie, Mario and Carmen and all the rest of her fabulous team.

Zenyatta – You are my favorite and I’m not sure if there will be another horse that I love as much as you!! I’m glad you are enjoying a little freedom in the paddock by yourself!!
I love reading your posts everyday – I look forward everyday to see what you are up too and what intersting stuff you have been introduced too.
John is right your breed is a breed to breed to be cherished along with the history!!

This is what so many people were worried about! I kept saying: “Zenny is HAPPY, SAFE and SOUND! She has a new chapter in her life, let’s support her.”
Thank you, Zenny, for sharing your “new life” with us fans. XO {{hugss}}

Since I am new to horse racing and thoroughbreds, all due to Zenyatta I might add, your posts help me learn so much! Thank you for taking the time and being so detailed. It makes me want to drop my job and get involved with horses somehow!
