Z's Diary

Diary Post #323

It's BATH TIME! Photo by Sarah Campion

Happy Friday!

I hope all of you are making some fun plans for the weekend. I am! This morning I had the most relaxing time. Not only did I have a very cool and refreshing BATH, but I also got to play in the water with my guys! It felt terrific!

As you can see, it is a very pretty morning in Lexington. Lane’s End is such a beautiful place to live. I am really enjoying myself.

Sarah took these photos this morning so you could get a chance to see ME as I am at this very moment. I’m doing everything just as a should….as an expectant MOM…. and I am really starting to have that ‘IN FOAL’ look.

Baby-to-be and I are doing GREAT! Everyone is so gracious to ME! My dear paddock pal, Tasty Temptation, and I are enjoying every single moment of this attention. I must say…I really feel SO PAMPERED and LOVED. LUCKY ME!

Gotta' love those SUDS!

This weekend, as has been the case often this summer, both Del Mar and Saratoga are featuring some very competitive Grade 1 races. This time for 3 year old fillies….one on the main track and one on the dirt. Other race tracks are also offering some terrific races. I hope you have a great time handicapping and enjoying our SPORT!

With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

Well, congratulations to Royal Delta! What was that I was saying about not being able to pick a winner?? I was worried about her, and then I remembered Shackleford. I hope the owner of Inglorious will not try to run her on dirt anymore. She clearly fdoesn’t like it.
@Lisa g–I felt the same about Uncle Mo when he was sick–so afraid they would bring him back too soon. Will check out his website.
@judy berube–love Kari’s “Dancing Queen”–it’s always been a favorite. Do hope she is ok.
@Terry Crow–yes, and I loved “Sweet Caroline” too.

    @Z fans
HRTV said Inglorious has only run on dirt
Twice: one was off the board and the other
Second: agree did not like track and nothing
To overcome it. Great Filly, though.

@Susan in TN: So happy that Chopper is well, too. I apologize for omitting him in my previous post. Sure hope your scheme to bring him and Chester together will be successful. Everyone needs a friend! All the best!
@All: What a terrific run to win the Alabama Stakes at Saratoga by Royal Delta!
    Thrilling!

    Dear Lisa g.:
Apparently Uncle Mike has a whole Bloodstock Team. Can’t find the article where Todd Pletcher’s Dad is mentioned, but Jake Pletcher was a trainer and still has a working training farm. He trained Rags to Riches, so I guess his opinion when purchasing yearlings is quite valued. Here’s a link about some of the help Uncle Mike gets from his Team. Here is an older article about Awesome Maria:

    http://www.drf.com/news/awesome-maria-out-year-condylar-fracture

After reading detailed issue regarding Ruffian’s leg issues before her breakdown, Racing after a fracture is a risky thing.

Good seeing you get a bath Zen. You really look leggy in these pictures,it has been awhile sice I have seen a photo of you from a distance and at full range. I love your long legs because they make you stand out and I think you look so good carring your foal. I hope your baby has your beautiful legs. You look great and I hope everything keeps going good for you. I also hope they give you a good watering down more often being you like it so much and it looks like a fun thing for you. Have a great weekend and I love you dearly Queen Zenyatta.

@JB: Thanks for the link to Awesome Maria, I was hoping it would not be that bad of news. Do you really believe that she could come back next year like they think? Lisa g

@signofthetimes. Thanks for the link to Awesome Maria. You are right. Mo did say once that she might not race again. I guess that we will have to wait and see what happens next year. It is really too bad because she is a beauty and she was doing so well. It makes you realize again how lucky and how amazing Zenyatta was to be so healthy during her career. It probably had a lot to do, in addition to good luck, with her strong physical and mental constitution and the superb care from her team.

@Max, so it was MO, I heard those rumors about him wanting to get to know Our Queen. I think Maria is in Florida, and you know he is flirting around on her, but he is young and such is the youth of men. I am so sad about Maria, a fracture, I do not think she should run again..it is too risky..Lisa g.
