Happy Friday!
I hope all of you are making some fun plans for the weekend. I am! This morning I had the most relaxing time. Not only did I have a very cool and refreshing BATH, but I also got to play in the water with my guys! It felt terrific!
As you can see, it is a very pretty morning in Lexington. Lane’s End is such a beautiful place to live. I am really enjoying myself.
Sarah took these photos this morning so you could get a chance to see ME as I am at this very moment. I’m doing everything just as a should….as an expectant MOM…. and I am really starting to have that ‘IN FOAL’ look.
Baby-to-be and I are doing GREAT! Everyone is so gracious to ME! My dear paddock pal, Tasty Temptation, and I are enjoying every single moment of this attention. I must say…I really feel SO PAMPERED and LOVED. LUCKY ME!
This weekend, as has been the case often this summer, both Del Mar and Saratoga are featuring some very competitive Grade 1 races. This time for 3 year old fillies….one on the main track and one on the dirt. Other race tracks are also offering some terrific races. I hope you have a great time handicapping and enjoying our SPORT!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

@JB, maybe Maria is his wife, and Uncle Mo calls her Aunt Maria…of course, that is it…as he is Uncle Mike. No wonder he says he has to pay the bills. Too Funny, Mike R., I do like him alot. Lisa g

@Peggy N: Thanks! Have a great time- I would love to go to either the Ocala or Keeneland sale someday.Such beautiful babies!

@All: Just watched the 2nd Race at Woodbine. My horse won, Blue Heart. She was fantastic, know absolutely nothing about her, 2 year old beauty, but she caught my attention…and she race her heart out. I agree with the Pros, she would be even greater at distance. Lisa g

@Barbara Wood: OH- no, Chopper is fine! He was moved to a different field so he can have access to the barn and is being brought in to eat. He already looks better to me. He still doesn’t really connect with any of the other horses but the members of this field are a little less aggressive, in general. I still haven’t given up on getting Chester and Chopper together- I have a plan but I don’t know if it will work yet. Thank you for your concern!

@Judy B: “Pick Six”-haha- if I picked ONE it would be amazing! Does anyone ever win a Pick Six? Thanks-

@Trina Nagele and Lisa g-Glad you enjoyed the jokes. @Lisa g-For me, Waylon Jennings eclipses all in the country music field. He also sang a great duet with Neil Diamond called One Good Love. Check it out. I think that Sweet Music Man would be an appropriate name for Zenyatta’s foal, if it is a colt. The song was written about Waylon Jennings but the title certainly applies to Jerry Moss. Like you, I prefer the “old” artists. I am not a fan of any of the singers who entered the field since 2000. @signofthetimes-You can’t stop me now. @Susan in TN-Beats the alternative. @Barb ara Wood-Me, too. Here is an oldie but a goodie–If a new thread is started I will post another joke. During his visit to the United States, the Pope met with President Clinton. Instead of an hour as scheduled, the meeting went on for two days. Finally, a weary President Clinton emerged to face the news media. The President was smiling and announced the summit as a big success. He said he and the Pope agreed on 80% of the matters they discussed. Then Mr. Clinton declared he was going home to the White House to be with his family. A few minuted later the Pope came out to make his statement. He looked tired and discouraged and was practically in tears. Sadly he announced his meeting with President Clinton was a failure. Incredulous, one reporter asked “But your Holiness, President Clinton just announced that the summit was a great success and the two of you agreed on 80% of the items discussed.” Exasperated, the Pope answered “Yes, but we were talking about the Ten Commandments.”

@Marshall(girl’s name): Your so welcome! Chester is already eating more efficiently after having those 2 teeth removed on Thursday. Even with softened food, he had been dropping a lot. He is such a trooper!

@Terry Crow: So true! Loved the joke:) I’m a big Johnny Cash fan, BTW.

@Susan in TN – The Pick 6 is a bet where you try to pick the winner of six straight races. It is a really hard bet to win and that’s why it pays so much. I only play the pick 6 when there is a big carry-over. Also I never invest very much. I try to hit it with a ticket playing one horse in each race or what they call all singles. I’ve had 4 winners a couple of times. Sometimes I might put more then one horse in a race but I never spend more then $12. In race track slang a race can also be called a leg. The Pick 6 is a $2 bet at most every track I think. You can still win with 5 out of 6 if nobody has all six but the payoff is much smaller. Every bet has it’s own pool where the money goes to tabulate the odds and the payoffs after the bell rings that starts the race. The odds on the big tote board at the track
represent the approximate win odds only.

Dearest Z, you are beginning to look more and more Dumpling-esque with every passing day! You appear to be in radiant health, as always.
I have fallen sadly behind in Diary reading. All who have kindly posted comments addressed to me, please forgive my lack of response. Life suddenly got crazy!

@Brenda S: Hope you and Vic have fun at Saratoga! RE: th horse at Vic’s riding stable who likes you: isn’t it humbling when a horse “picks” you as someone who can be trusted?

@Susan in TN-Glad you enjoyed Jockey. IT depicted that part of being a jockey which is most difficult, the weight factor. There are not that many handicap races left, so the problem is not as acute. Handicaps are those races in which horse are entered quite a bit in advance and the racing secretary assigns them weights based on the records at the time of nomination. IN the old days, a jockey was not allowed to ride a horse if his actual weight was 5 pounds more than the horse was assigned to carry. The point that the riders were trying to make in the documentary was that weight should be nudged up so that riders could make that weight more easily.

@Barbara Wood, glad I could be of assistance…believe me when it comes to visiting sites unknown and links, I can make everybody feel better…LOL. Lisa g

@Terry Crow, just watched the video of One Good Love, thank you. How did I not know about this? I love Neil Diamond (my mama did this to me) but when Waylon sang at first, solo, I got goose bumps! What a voice, these two together is absolutely beyond words. I tried to share on my FB and failed…but then again, it takes me 5 times to do these things..LOL, I will try again, as it is so worth it. It’s Tricky and Plum Pretty coming soon. Unlike BL and Grace, there is one I do like just a little bit more…I hope Plum Pretty wins, it is hard to say, as I am an It’s Tricky fan.

@Susan in Tn-We all love the Man in Black. @Lisa g-I was floored the first time I saw the video. Was poking around in Neil’s section looking for Brother Love’s Traveling Salvation Show, one of my favorites and found this. It was like looking for gold and finding platinum.

@Lisa g, Awesome Maria doesn’t belong to Mike Repole, although she is trained by Todd Pletcher. She is the daughter of Maria’s Mon, so that’s probably where her name came from. “Uncle Mo” isn’t a person either; it is a slang term for sports momentum. :-)
