Happy Friday!
As you can see, I’m getting my BEAUTY REST and making sure that I am taking great care of myself these days!
Additionally, I want to get plenty of rest so I can be energized and watch all of the terrific weekend of racing on both coasts. I’m going to be spending tons of time with my guys here at LANE’S END handicapping and watching the races. The conversation around the barn is already heating up now on who likes who in which race…and why! It is great FUN!
From Saratoga, running the Travers and the King’s Bishop… to Del Mar carding the Pat O’Brien and the Pacific Classic to name a few of the quality stakes running the next few days, it will be one very sporting weekend.
Uncle Mo…is making his first start back in the King’s Bishop since ‘feeling under the weather’ around Kentucky Derby time. There are so many contentious 3 year old colts running in the Travers….that I will really have to study the FORM here.
Then in Del Mar, they are running The Pacific Classic which is their premiere race of the entire meet. My farm, Lane’s End, has a horse competing in the field…TWIRLING CANDY. So this is very, very exciting!
My friend, BLIND LUCK, and her connections decided to ‘skip’ the Pacific Classic for this year and have her compete on another path: The Lady’s Secret and if all goes well The Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic. These are both very distinguished and prestigious races….I know them quite well. All the best to her and her future plans.
Enjoy your weekend! Have a terrific time watching all of these high quality races! It is SO MUCH FUN! I can’t wait!
Hey, Matt, Charles, Mike, David and Sarah…who do you like???
With Love,
Hugs to All~

WEATHER REPORT FROM NW NJ: After one hour of heavy winds and rain in the early morning, a heavy rain kept falling and is still falling here almost 12 hours later. Lost some trees, which to me is a tragedy. Still have power. Right now, the rain is still falling and the winds are kicking up again–it’s that swirl configuration of the hurricane that keeps hitting out at a radius of areas. Our trees are getting whupped pretty badly right now so I’m keeping my fingers crossed. Our township still wants us to stay home until…NYC has some flooding…that’s 45 miles away from me. Worried about East Coast dumplings who have not signed in today!!!!!!!!!!

Good morning Zetty,

A morning chuckle for you:

Zenny, you pal, Mr. Commons, did great yesterday. All of these close races make me remember again how remarkable YOU were on the track. Each race is entirely “new” and anything can happen to shift the end result. But, because of your tremendous heart and sheer physical strength you became the ultimate closer, regardles of circumstance or distance. That, my dear, is nothing short of amazing. And with all the new stuff thrown at you during #20, lights, dirt and the magnitude of noise from those screaming fans, YOU brought it again…closing a distance that no other could even dream of doing. I bow to you, my Queen, for you are certainly one in a million.
Deborah Richman
Shari Voltz…Happy Birthday a day late! Mo and Thirsty sure ran well in your honor yesterday!! I am so happy that Mo is “back” and that Thirsty won the Travers. Trina’s poem to you really says it all, you are a very special, creaative teacher and your students are very lucky to be in your class. Hope you had a great day and that you have a wonderful year!

@JT- MR. John Shirreffs deleted his Facebook page almost a year ago after people continued to be “unkind” to each other…..you must not be reading it too often-…

@-Kathy Baldwin—Your message to Denisein Az–great & very inspiring
@Barbara Wood–I’m glad to know you’re interested in dog & cat rescue also. One of the dogs that was in the dog show I had recently, was rescued by its present owner, after someone had dumped it off at a dog park. The poor little thing was being attacked by 2 larger dogs & was terrified. Debbie, the new owner, intervened just in time, got the dog& took it home. It is now the most loved & pampered dog you ever saw! His name is Timmy, an adorable Lhasa Apsa. He was very popular at the show.
@Judy berube—-I hope you’re ok from the storm, please be careful, I hear there’s a lot of fallen trees & power lines.
@—Barbara Grimaldi—I too, have a Breyer Zenyatta, I love it, don’t you?
@Shari V.—Happy belated Birthday
@Barbara W.–Happy Anniversary
@Marshall (girl’s name)–I have a granddaughter in Norfolk, do you know how that area is, any damage? I cannot hear from her, think maybe the power is off. let me know if you have any information, thanks
@ To Karen Gogue, Michelle, s in San Diego,Karen Bussell & Terry Crow—You are ALL right on in your answers to JT, does he think he is MORE knowledgable than the MOsses or John Shireff, I think they know what they are doing & so does Mike Smith.When I see in the Official Encyclopedia of Thoroughbred Racing, ALL the many races, Mike has won, it certainly looks like he’s been “connecting” with more horses than just Zenyatta, as he is infering otherwise.
STAY Thirsty, To Honor & Serve, HOOF, HOOF, Hooray!
Does anyone know how Twirling Candy did??
Beautiful Zenny, what a great picture Matt took of you, that’s a good girl, getting lots of rest in your cozy bed.
Love you, goodnite to you & little Zen (maybe not so little) xoxoxoxoxo

All- A lady (Not John Shirreffs) runs that site on FB. She has stated over and over she does not work for him or Barn-55 …least there be some confussion…anyone who reads it knows not to attach his name to it as she Never has…

WEATHER REPORT–RHODE ISLAND: Michelle Burnett, the floodplain coordinator for the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, told The Associated Press that the state weathered the morning high tide without widespread coastal flooding. But she said officials are keeping a close eye on water levels heading into the high tide expected at about 8 p.m. She called a surge of three to six feet “pretty significant” and said it could damage buildings.
The communities of Warwick, Barrington, North Kingstown and other areas on the southern coast are particularly vulnerable, she said.
THAT’S WHERE JUDY LIVES SO PRAYERS ARE NEEDED FOR HER AND RUSS as i continue to try to reach her…Rhody is right in the storm’s expiring path, according to the weather map…here, we are getting ferocious winds and no rain–so here we are with the tail of that storm again…more trees down…

Here is today’s joke–Bill Gates died in a car accident. He found himself in Purgatory being sized up by God. “Well, Bill, I’m really confused on this call. I’m not sure whether to send you to Heaven or Hell. After all, you enormously helped society by putting a computer in almost every home in the world yet you created that ghastly Windows 95. I’m gloing to do something I’ve never done before. In your case, I’m going to let you decide where you want to go!” Bill replied “Well, thanks God. What’s the difference between the two?” God said “I’m willing to let you visit both places briefly if it will help you to make a decision.” “Fine, but where should I go first?” God said “I’m going to leave that up to you.” “Bill said, “OK, then I’ll try Hell first.” So Bill went to Hell. It was a beautiful, clean sandy beach with clear waters. There were thousands of beautiful women running around, playing in the water, laughing and frolicking about. The sun was shining and the temperature was perfect. Bill was very pleased. “This is great!” he told God. “If this is Hell, I really want to see heaven.” “Fine,” said God and off they went. Heaven was a high place in the clouds, with angels drifting about playing harps and singing. It was nice but not as exciting as Hell. Bill thought for a quick minute and rendered his decision. “I think I prefer Hell” he told God. “Fine,” said God. “As you desire.” So Bill Gates went to Hell. Two weeks later, God decided to check up on the late billionaire to see how he was doing in Hell. When God arrived in Hell, he found Bill chained to a wall, screaming amongst the hot flames in a dark cave. “How is everything going, Bill?” God asked. Bill responded, his voice full of anguish and disappointment, “This is awful, not what I expected. I can’t be,live this has happened. What happened to that other place with the beaches and the beautiful women playing in the water?” “God said, “That was the screen saver.”

Dear Lady Z: I had the most beautiful dream last night! I dreamt that I won a raffle contest and the prize was to get to ride you, at a walk, around a race track! The dream was so real and I woke up, all choked up, just as how I will truly be if I ever to get to meet you face-to-face. It was the most peaceful, happy dream I can remember in a long time.
Best wishes and many prayers to our East coast inhabitants!
Love to all!
