Happy Monday to All!

It’s Labor Day! It is so hard to believe that it’s technically the last day of summer.

Today at Del Mar, the race track is hosting a group who serve in our Armed Forces. MY JOHN was a Marine during his time in the service. He is going to visit with the guests today at Del Mar and participate in some of the activities with them. I gather the executive offices told MY JOHN that even if some soldiers were not really familiar with racing…they did know about ZENYATTA! (That’s ME!)

Hearing this is very special to ME! (Wink, Wink!)

MY JOHN is going to speak with the group later in the morning. We’ve heard they were going to ask him for some ‘handicapping tips’. Dottie was teasing him last night that he better start studying the FORM for the entire Monday card quickly! I’m sure he will do very well!

One of the things I remember fondly about BARN 55 is all of the YOGA type exercises we would do. My dear trainer would have ME do lots of stretches all of the time to help ME in any way possible.

Well, I gather he has his exercise riders doing the same thing. John was buying yoga mats to use at the barn the other day…so individuals could stretch any time needed. Michelle took this photo of MAX, one of the exercise riders, after he completed the daily training exercise with 3 fillies: Harmonious, Star Billing and Gelila.

From all reports, MAX agrees with ME. These stretching techniques really work!

I’d also like to send a special HIGH HOOF to Havre de Grace. Last Saturday, she ran a great race at Saratoga winning her Grade 1 with style against the boys!

    wow, I m first, have a great labor day to you Zen , girl, and that is so sweet, about the soldiers, and the rest, I had to do streeching, while I rode horses, my feet kept creeping the wrong way so did some real good ones, kept me in good shape, anyway, Im so glad your enjoy, life in your field, and can’t believe the fall is creeping in so fast, have a wonder Labor Day , no working, thats thebest, hahahaLOL

    Hello Queen Z…A good Labor Day to you and yours! How nice to see a new diary today! Thanks Dottie!
    Did anyone else see Inside Information yesterday? WOW. I had no idea about Sirhan Sirhan. The things we don’t know, huh? It was also fun to see some familiar faces in some of the clips. And isn’t that just fantastic about the man John S. himself?!?!? Great to learn of a day for him on 10/1. AND, that he will be returning to work on 12/26… @Cynthia H do you know anymore of the little girl? They did not refer to her in the follow-up information at the end. The story as I know it is her dad brought her to the track that day so she could see that people who are of small stature (as she is–kind of self conscious about it)–the jockeys–can do great things. Then this happened. I THINK I remember reading that her dad visited John in the hospital, but his daughter either did not want to go or he did not want her to be frightened of seeing John in his condition at that time. I have this thought that she might grow up to be afraid of horses–I hope I am wrong. Another thought: perhaps father and daughter will be there on October 1st?
    @Terry Crow, I meant to add yesterday that it is great that you saw all those WONDERFUL horses in person. :) Also, we got a sudden invitation to go to a barbecue and while there I told the group of a couple of your “redneck” jokes!

    After our strange rain over night, the sun is now appearing. Hope good weather finds everyone coast to coast.

    Zenyatta, you were quite the athlete. Wouldn’t surprise me if you did some Pilates as well as yoga exercises. Now you are a broodmare and have a different set of demands, but I know you will do just fine. Stay healthy and happy. Love ya.

    Kudos to Mr. Sherriffs for taking the time out of his busy day to meet with our Service People at Del Mar today…such a nice thing to do!
    And also, good luck to Gelila (Sherriffs-Mosses)who is running in the 6th race at DM today.

    Does anyone else have a hard time imaging Zen’s JOHN as a Marine? He appears so easy-going,and we all know how he is with his horses…. doesn’t gel with my “eat nails for breakfast” image of a Marine. But I applaud him-and ALL our armed forces men and women-for their service. It takes a special kind of person to give all for their country – and well, JOHN is a special person!

    Zenny, I could use some of your stretches, if you’re so inclined to share them! I’m having trouble recovering from hip replacement surgery. I need to rebuild up my leg muscles,but slowly and gently. Stretches always make things feel better! LOL Love you, Sweet Zen!

    PS – Is there anyone ANYWHERE that hasn’t heard of the spectacular Zenyatta??

    Happy Labor Day, to you Zenyatta, to your team and to all your fans on this website! Thanks for honoring our troops and for your patriotism. I come from a military family and appreciate your salute to our troops. My brother served in Viet Nam, my other brother was serving in Alaska when the earthquake and tsunami hit there back in 1964, and another brother was in Germany. And, my uncle was a fighter pilot who was unfortunately killed over Normandy. Thank you again Zenyatta to you and your team for all you do. You have a special place in our hearts. Love, Dee
