Happy Thursday!
I am still basking in the glow of all of the attention I have been receiving the past few weeks from ‘my family and close friends’. In the Diary posts, several of you asked if MY TEAM was able to come to Lane’s End and visit with ME during the Sale. The answer is ABSOLUTELY YES. They were here on several occasions. We always share so many great times together!
John promised Dottie last night that he would download the photos so we can share them with you. Since everyone is just settling in at home post Del Mar and Kentucky, it has been rather busy. So, I’ll have them for you soon. In some, I’m simply sleeping. I guess they think it is fun to even watch ME do that!
This baby thing is really becoming quite fascinating to ME! I’m learning that babies grow up and that they come in so many different sizes! Here I am with Brian, Jeanne’s grandson. He is absolutely adorable! I can tell he has been around a lot of horses in his life…he knows WE LIKE SNACKS!
I’m off to roam around in the paddock now with Tasty. She is such a dear friend. We are great paddock mates…and get along fabulously!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Terry C.

Dear Zenyatta. How cute is little Brian. When he is older and looks back on photos taken the day he met the wonderful Zenyatta it will be a memory he can treasure forever. As Anne has said, “You are always so gentle and loving to all you meet.” Jeanne’s entire family are such great horse people, it is no surprise that he has already begun learning. I applaud any who have children or grandchilden to begin very early sharing the marvelous animal kingdom with these little souls. I believe it adds so much to their lives, including friendship, kindness, concern, care, responsibility, the list is endless. The future treatment and respect for the animals in our world is in the hands of our children, may we be a guiding force and positive example, to charish not destroy. Have fun with TT, Zenny. It is always so fun to share time with a special friend. Love you!! Sweet dreams. Hugs and kisses. XXXOOO
@Hello, Book Loving Zster’s – I love to read and thought it might be fun to share some the books I have recently enjoyed, espcially those equine related. Here is the first: The Eighty-Dollar Champion by Elizabeth Letts. The story tells the dramatic odyssey of a horse called Snowman, saved from the slaughterhouse by a yound Dutch farmer named Harry. Together Harry and Snowman went on to become America’s show-jumping champions, winning first prize in Madison Square Garden in the late 1950’s. Enjoy!
@Terry Crow – Don’t be too impressed my friend, my knowledge is limited to that which I have read, watched or experienced from visiting a particular Civil War site. It is I that is in awe of your endless knowledge.
@Trina M Nagele and Judy Berube – Glad you both enjoyed the post and Silver Charm info. I am going to check with my sister-in-law to see if she can help with the pictures. She utilizes Facebook all of the time.
@Brenda S – Hope everything is going great for you and Vic!!
@Barbara Wood – Yea!! You are coming to Colorado. Will you be anywhere close to Cedaredge? The largest town near is Grand Junction. It would be fun to meet!
@Susan in TN – Glad to hear you are doing better each day. Tiny is with you always!
Kimberly Potter
My Beautiful Zenyatta~ What a precious post. Your gentle nature is beyond compare. One day little Brian will realize he was in the presense of the “Queen”. I had know doubt that your family was there to visit with you….and I look so forward to seeing those pics taken by YOUR John. Team Z is the BEST!
Susan in TN~ So glad your spirits are up~ you are always in my thoughts and prayers that time will heal your brocken heart. I lit a candle for you. HUGZ
@Mary~ AMEN to that statement. A match made in Heaven.
@JAG~ Dumpling eater…how sad indeed!
@Marilu V~ What a wonderful memory of getting to feed Zenny a carrot…Lucky YOU!
@DJ~ Lovely prayer, as always. Thank you! Wonderful news about Shawnee (love, love the name). Will continue my positive thoughts and prayers that she continues to improve. HUGZ
@JAG~ I read the story about Tonk yesterday…so magnificent and courageous of both horse and wrangler. Grizzlies are so very frightening here in Montana and as an outdoor lover, the chances of an encounter is becoming more and more of a possibility..Scary stuff…
@ALL who are interested~ Mommy and baby have given us another scare. She was back in the hospital for a short stay and they did get contractions to stop. Back on bedrest…At this point, they do not want to give any more drugs as she is at 36 weeks. (Yay!) My son is out of town this week and next for work, so Grammy is on call….Pray she can hold out a few more weeks…I believe she will come when the good Lord says she’s ready!
HUGZ to All in Zen Nation~
Zenyatta’s #1 fan in Montana

Has anybody checked out something called the ‘Foal Project’? I think I read about it in Bloodhorse.com. A photographer has captured a gazillion photos of TB mares with their brand new foals at a moment of bonding; exhibitions result in moneys for horse charities. A comment was made that it would be really cool if this could be done with RA and Z. Goodness knows the fanbase is HUGE! I believe there is a website for the project.

@judy berube, many thanks for that link. I’ve not read that article before and loved the recent pictures of our Queen. Yes, she is sorely missed on the track…there will never be another like her in my opinion. She was the entire package…talent, looks and charisma. What a “gift”, as her Ann has said many times.
Max
@judy berube. Thanks very much for the link to the nice photos of Z and TT. The photos show how powerfully built Zenyatta is, not to mention beautifully too. She is a gorgeous horse who seems to be enjoying her new life at Lane’s End with her pals. Good to see this.
Brenda S..
Lucky Brian, getting to meet and give treats to YOU. He will have such great pictures for his album to remember you by when he is older. I wish I could have fed you a pear from the treats we left with Sarah.
Vic and I went to visit some rescue horses last Saturday and went into the paddock with them. One horse, a youngster called Sizzle, got a mint from me and then began pushing me around trying to get more mints from my pocket. Finally, I was the one that had to be rescued.
@ Dawn – Vic is happily settled back in school and today has gone on a trip to Stratford with her drama group to see Titus Andronicus.
@ Kimberley P – Hope baby can wait for Daddy to be there for her big day. I was birthing coach when Vic was born but she was a C-section so I didn’t get to do much.

Love the pictures today, showing again your gentleness with children. Dottie, thank you for taking the time to post while you’re still trying to get settled in at home.
@LouAnn Cingel- Last night I was reading comments on Zenyatta’s FB page and I clicked on your picture to see it more clearly. (Senior eyes, what can I say) I was so surprised to see that we had attended the same high school, albeit several years apart, as I am eleven years older than you. We have both settled quite a ways from Toledo. Just another example in life that it’s a small world, afterall.
Now, I have to check all the links from today. Enjoy your afternoon, all.

Thank you for sharing the pics, Sarah!
Z, I’m so glad you got to see your family and close friends during the sale. Can’t wait to see your John’s photos… I’m sure he thinks, as we all do, that anything YOU do is a photo op, even sleeping!
Z friends…hello to all! I hope that as summer winds down and the autumn begins that things are going well for you!
Susan in TN…glad the overwhelming grief is easing.
DJ…praying for your little Shawnee. Glad she is home and hope she makes a quick and complete recovery.
Dawn…thank you for recommending the book on Snow Man! Coincidently, I had jusr ordered it on Amazon before visiting Z’s Diary. Now I really can’t wait to read it! Looking forward to your other recommendations :) Also, I really enjoyed your story about Silver Star yesterday.
