Good Morning,
My JOHN got a chance to download some of his photos last night…so I wanted to share a few of them with you. It has been so exciting seeing everyone. As usual, we always have a great time together.
Here I am whispering ‘sweet thoughts’ into My John’s ear. At this moment, I really gave a great deal of thought to playing the ‘hat game’ with him as well. It was rather windy at this particular time…so I decided to just ‘kiss’ him on the cheek. I have done this so many times in the past. It brought back so many special memories to ME and I know to him!
What a wonderful day we all shared!
This weekend seems to be packed with a great deal of stakes action at several different racing venues. I am particularly interested in the KENT which is on the turf at Delaware Park and the Pennsylvania Derby on the main track at Parx. Both races are for 3 year olds going 1 1/8. It is great to see how horses continue to develop and mature at this stage. I am especially interested in the Parx race as Bernie sired one of the main contenders, TO HONOR AND SERVE.
I must say, I do keep track of ‘his’ horses and how they are performing at the race track. His babies sold very well in the various yearling sales to date and his horses are running very competitively all over the world! This is such GREAT NEWS!
I’m proud of you, BERNIE!
On the West Coast, Fairplex is concluding their meet…and then back to Santa Anita for their Autumn Meet of Racing. Opening day is September 30th. This marks the beginning of a great time of racing on the West Coast as one terrific race meet follows another from this point forward for the next 11 plus months.
I hope you enjoy all of the FUN! Good Luck to all of the horses competing this weekend!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Yes, A.P. Indy’s sons and daughters will carry on quite a legacy. And now Z’s bringing her wonderfulness into the line. What a beautiful pedigree this Z/Bernie baby has. Can’t wait to see Little Z. Hugs, J.B.

@Zenny and Team Z and – the very lucky new four-legged members of the Moss family – good night, sleep tight, don’t let the bed bugs bite.

Something else for dog lovers: “Surf Dog Buddy from Ventura was the top dog at Sunday’s sixth annual Surf Dog Surf-A-Thon at (where else?) Dog Beach in Del Mar. It was Buddy’s fifth win and may be the last for the 14-year-old Jack Russell terrier. No matter, he became the first inductee Sunday into the Surf Dog Hall of Fame. “ See his picture on the link:

@Eveline—Thanks for the great links.
@DIASTU—LOL!

@Trina Nagele – Liked the surf-dog photo, thanks. Always seems amazing to me, that a dog can.

I’m so happy for you that you got to spend time with your friends. Everyone looks so happy to be together. AND To Honor and Serve ran a great race. He’s one of my favorites and I yelled my head off. Your “baby daddy” really knows how to make ’em. Have a great day Darling!!!

Found this great article on “The Unattainable Triple Crown”, includes comments of 2011 horses and breeding issues;
Maybe Zenny’s foals will be sturdy enough to take on the task,
there is lots of sturdy bloodlines in her pedigree. Love the comment about Shackleford’s washed out appeareance and that Handicapping 101 tells you not to bet on a horse like that.
Shows there is more to handicapping, like knowing the horse and its individual behavior.

Congratulations To Honor and Serve on a very impressive race.

Dearest Zenyatta,
You’re such a lucky girl to have such a wonderful family and so sweet to share them with Tasty Tempation, too!
I hope you’re not getting too drenched as the rainy weather makes its way eastward. Have a great week and keep sending all those great pics. They always put a smile on my face.
Love and hugs,
Stel

Catching up on the posts. @Judy Berube-Your response to my subtle dig about not understanding the blonde joke was very funny. Imagine, acting like you didn’t get it. Or was that an act? @Denise in AZ, Brenda S and signofthetimes-Glad you enjoyed the joke. @Abigail from Montreal-Abagail Adams was indeed a remarkable woman, but so are you. My favorite books are not horse books, but at least they are closely related. They are All Creatures Great and Small, All Things Bright and Beautiful and The Lord God made Them All by James Herriott. When I was a kid, I loved the Doctor Dolittle books. @Vicki B, Trina Nagele, Marshall and Susan in TN–Thanks for the kind words. @DIana S-There is not much funny about Kansas, except the phrase you’re not in Kansas anymore. Here are a few lyrics from a song called Hard headed me by Roger Miller which sort of explains the situation–Well, they gave me fair warnin’; all the folks in my town; they said if you don’t straighten up, we gonna expel one clown; I said just a minute here, you can’t treat me this way; how far is it to the next town I’m walkin’ that way.@Suzanne Pashayan–We used to say that Rachael Alexandra beat the boys while Zenyatta beat the men. Brown Bess was a great one. @Anne from Paramount-Will be at the track on October 8. Hope to see you there. Happy birthday on October 2. @Kari Bussell and Susan in TN-You might be a redneck if you ever donated money for a new stained glass window for the church but insisted that it depict Willie Nelson. You might be a redneck if you ever made your kid a paper hat out of a Playboy centerfold. You might be a redneck if you’ve ever valet parked a snow plow. You might be a redneck if you’ve ever been blacklisted by a bowling alley. Will post a joke later.

Good morning Sweet “Z” and little “z”! Hope you are both doing well and enjoying your day with good treats and fresh air! I am looking forward to Santa Anita on Friday! I always think of you when I am there. Speaking of Santa Anita, for those who have the Calendar…lucky you! When you turn the page to October there is a wonderful Surprise! The most Regal picture of Y.O.U.!! A close up with your Mario that belongs in a frame. Blessings Always :)
Barbara Wood
@DJ–thank you for the prayer. So glad to know Shawnee is better.
@Lou in Texas–Diana S and I have talked before about how we both had a hard time logging into the blog when Greg it moved away from Bloodhorse. It was about the time I had knee replacement, so I just finally gave up because so much was going on here.
@Terry Crow–love the Willie joke. My daddy moved to TX from Winfield, KS. Don’t know if that’s near where you are.
Joan
I know I’m too late for anyone to read this, but I have to say how much I love the photos, Zenyatta. Thanks to your family for sharing them with us.
Deneen
Wonderful photos! So glad TT was able to share in one of the candid moments. I am so happy you have such wonderful, loving, caring family members in your life. Good night sweet girl!
mm
great photos!! So glad everyone got to visit you Queen Z. Bet they miss you!!
Paul
Zenyatta, so you’re tempted to play the hat game with John Shirreffs, huh? You’re also sniffing someone to see if they have any treats for you. Those are great pictures of you. There were some great races on on that weekend, but, unfortunately, I couldn’t watch them and watch my football team at the same time. I hate it when that happens. I always look forward to watching horseracing when I can. Congratulations to Bernardini for his offspring doing well in the Keeneland sales. Memories from when you were purchased at a yearling sale and transported to Ocala, Florida must be rushing into your head like crazy.
