Happy Monday, Everyone!
It was such a wonderful weekend of racing…plus I had so many fabulous times visiting with MY TEAM during the sales…that I thought it would be best to catch up on my rest!
I know there are some very exciting things happening in the next few weeks…and I really want to be perfectly rested so I can enjoy all of them.
MY JOHN loves this particular photo as he said I used to sleep like this with my head in this position all of the time when I was with him at BARN 55. I have to adjust my ‘tummy’ a bit at this time…as I am now literally ‘sleeping for 2’.
He also loved seeing how TASTY and I share such an endearing relationship. He commented to Dottie last night that the ‘kindness’ of our relationship shows even in this picture.
Tasty really is so sweet. She is always close by…and she literally watches over ME while I sleep. I am so fortunate. A dear friend, like she is to ME…and I am to her…is something to be truly treasured.
On another note, I also want to give a HIGH HOOF to Bernie and the performance of To Honor and Serve this weekend. This colt that he sired won the Pennsylvania Derby in great style…and established a new record while doing so in this victory. Congratulations to all who are involved with this wonderful colt.
Our sport….it is truly very special!
Enjoy your day!
With love,
Hugs to All~

@Dawn Conrad: Ah, Dawn, thanks for acknowledging my nod to Serena’s Song. It’s nice to know you saw her.

Isn’t Z an adorable Sleeping Beauty? I can almost hear her soft zzzzzzzzz’s.

Aww. So beautiful, you and your friend Tasty! She is watching over you because she knows that the little bambino(baby) you are caring in your tummy will one day change racing just as much as you did. All the Best for the Queen of the Sport of Kings, as you are the Royal Family now.
Congrats to To Honor and Serve! He took the town, and he took it with style!
I’m sure Bernie is very proud of his sons(and daughters) this season, and looking at all the success they are having, I can’t even begin to imagine what YOUR foal (yours and his) will achieve. Another stylish, classy, consistant, and beautiful individual, like you? Or maybe a hard fighter like Bernie and his prodigy are all proving to be? Only time will tell, and maybe, just maybe, he/she will get the best of both worlds. :)

Dear Zenny,
What lovely photos of you and TT. Some instincts never go away;
one girl watches on as the other girl sleeps so in case some prey come along the sleeping one will be alerted. I am sure you do the same for her. How trusting to lay down in the middle of your paddock, assured nothing wild will grace LE property. Hope you had a great Monday, mowing the grass, that is a bid job in KY.

Great to hear about your viszla bitch’ success. My “stallion” (viszla male) is 2.5 years old and is going to continue conformation showing after some time off. I found a better handler and he is recovering form horrible flea dermatitis, a lot of hair fell out earlier in the year. Love the breed, he is such a character and has a lovely sweet temperment, although very pushy and “hey look at me”, I am the best thing around. So different to work with such a self-confident dog as I have had rescues in the past.

What a great picture of you and Tasty. I love it very much. Thanks to Sarah for capturing this precious moment and sharing it with us. It’s so nice to see the strong bond that you have to one other. I remember Tasty. She ran several times at Santa Anita. I think she will be a great mom like you. Have fun outside. I love you!

I have always loved dogs. Now I love horses as well. I’ve had a sheppard, “Achilles”, so I could say “Achilles, heel” ;a rottweiler, “Greylyn”;& 3 bullmastiffs. My first was “Carmichael” named after a student who loved animals, the second was “Bancroft” named after the actress, & my current one is “Cecil”, named after Sir William Cecil chief advisor & loyal friend of Elizabeth I. Cecil is a rescue dog I got last year from a bullmastiff rescue site. He was a senior. He was 5 when I got him. He is now 6.The family who had him had a 4 year old & a 2 year old child, & Cecil became too much. I would probably have chosen to give up the 4 & 2 year olds & kept the dog, but I’m happy it worked out the other way around. He is a lovely, dear dog. Cecil passed his therapy dog exam, & we go to visit hospice patients. Many patients at the assisted living facilities we visit love to pet him although two did cry upon seeing him. He is large. I realize now how animals are able to bring joy into people’s lives especially when they have obstacles to overcome. I got an older dog because I also have a rescue cat I named Wellingon after the Duke by that name. Welligton is a big baby & hides when my friends visit. He is my phantom cat. I’m sure nobody believes he exists except for the evidence of the kitty litter box. I felt an older dog & Wellington would get along better than Wellington & an “annoying” puppy. Wellington now rubs against Cecil’s head & kisses him before sleeping. As Wellington is very smart, he is not afraid of a 135 lb dog as much as he is fearful of people. Zenyatta & all of you inspired me to visit patients with Cecil. We two get back so much from this small amount of giving. Each day Cecil & Wellington make me smile & laugh between news alerts both national & international. Not much good news out there, but good news here on this site be it the friendship of Tasty & Zen or the concern of all of you for each other & our animals. From all of you I’ve learned that all animals are “our” animals. Animals seem to know that. Now, if people would just catch up.

Zenny: I’m so glad you have a best bud to pal around with, but what happened to Pirate Queen and your other pals? Are you kept separated because they are not “in foal”? Also, when does the Zenyatta World learn the gender of your foal?
Margie
Hi Zenny and Z’ers. I love to see you so content, Sweet Z. Tasty T is a
BFF, for sure. Someone did some perfect matching when they decided you two gals should hang out together. I want to plan a trip to come see the wonderful horse farms so many Z’ers talk about. I know I won’t be able to see you, but I’m okay knowing you are so happy where you are and living a good life. If you put your head up, stand real still, then you’ll hear “We love you, Zenyatta” rolling gently on the wind, coming from all your forever fans. Rest well, Sweet Zenny.

@JAG< signofthetimes, and Anne from Paramount–Happy Birthdays to all, even if I miss the exact days.
@Lynn Martin–congratulations on your Vizsla awards. I have a friend here in Waco who would love to know you. And signofthetimes as well.
@Dawn Conrad–thank you so much for mentioning Chosen By a Horse. I'm putting it on my Amazon wish list. I know from personal experience that that is true. Our grandhorse helped me through the grieving process after my mom's death.
Again, thank you, Dottie , for this wonderful diary. It is truly "home" for us.

Queen Zenyatta!! You do require power naps, because when baby comes there is no time for sleep!! You will always be making sure that they will be okay for the first couple months of their lives.

@ DAWN CONRAD. YOUR POST IS SO TRUE OF HORSES. THE MOVIE ABOUT SEABISCUIT SAID THE PEOPLE WERE BROKEN TOO. SO THE HORSE HELPED THEM AND THEY HELPED HIM. I THINK HOW SECRETARIAT SAVED THE FARM OF MRS. TWEEDY. I KNOW MY FIRST HORSE, A SOLID BLACK MORGAN, LOVED ME AND TAUGHT ME ALOT. I KNEW HOW TO CARE FOR A HORSE BEFORE I BOUGHT, BUT SHE STILL SHOWED ME THE ROPES. I TREASURE EVERY MOMENT I HAD WITH HER. OCTOBER 27, 1991, WAS THE NIGHT SHE DIED. I LIKE TO THINK WHEN I ARRIVE AT HEAVENS DOOR, I WILL BE ON HER BACK. GREAT PICS OF OUR DEAREST ZENYATTA. LOVE TO ALL, SHERRY D. WV
