Dear Friends,
I hope all of you are well. It is so hard to believe that it is almost October! This year is flying by so quickly.
I must say I am enjoying every moment and having a great time each day at Lane’s End! As I’ve mentioned to you in prior Diary entries, with all of this ‘free time’ in my schedule, I am really investigating several 2nd career options. Currently, I’m diligently working on some very exciting plans and will be sharing them with you very soon.
From the actions I took in these photos, one option I somewhat considered was becoming a HAIR STYLIST. As you can see, while Ann was so affectionately scratching one of my favorite spots…I decided I would redo her hair. Let’s put it this way, she was a GREAT SPORT!
I also tried it with April when she came to visit. I think both of these lovely women did not want to hurt my feelings… but would agree with ME very sweetly…that this is not a 2nd career option for ME! Sometimes you simply have to try different things just to know for yourself that it is NOT for you!
Thank goodness there are other fabulously talented people who do such a great job working in this profession!
Tasty and I share these thoughts all of the time! It really is fun to consider all of the great possibilities!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Beautiful Zenyatta, I love these photo’s!! Thank you Team Z I & II for these diary’s!!! I am smiling and have a few tears with the first one. How I wish more animals could be so loved as you are…hugs to all.

Zenny, my hair is in urgent need of attention right now so should I phone LE for an appointment? I will very happily sit in the paddock with you and Tasty T and let you style my grey hair any way you would like. You should be pretty good with my color since it’s the same as Tasty’s and I’ll bring lots of pears for you. Thanks to Dottie for letting us know that you have some plans in the works, is it another contest? Don’t make us wait too long before you tell us.
@ Kari – Fingers, toes and hooves are crossed for you Kari and I hope you can feel all the positive vibes heading your way. I won’t be so worried now when you “disappear” for a few days but I’ll still miss you. Many thanks to the wonderful Dumpling who arranged for you to see the new Doctor
LauraJ
@Jeanie, that total is as of when, do you know?
–
@Fran Doos, Zenyatta is already an artist! She has done several Moneighs for charity. She is very generous and quite talented also.
–
@Gloria, it’s because you can’t see her beautiful, expressive eyes. But it’s for the best. TT was wearing her accessory in yesterday’s photos, too.
–
Re: second careers, I think she’d make a great eventer. I bet she could jump like nobody’s business. Not sure about pure dressage. She has the moves, but the way her hips are built, she might have trouble with extreme collection.

Dear Z – what wonderful family photos! One really gets an appreciation for your presence in this picture with your Ann. Very much looking forward to learning of your 2nd career plans; I am still on a cloud with what you did for our “Inspire” program segment at PBWC this past Spring!!! And I must share with you what a pleasant surprise it was as I was reading my American Express Departures Magazine, to turn the page and see YOU as the model for David Ingordo’s ” How to Pick a Winner”! Look how perfectly beautiful you are as a racehorse and as a Mom-To-Be! http://www.lanesend.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Departures-September-2011.pdf
Love to you and your Team – Linda & George

Zenny – I’m sure that you’ll be fabulous in any second career you choose. Your dapples are evident and you’re definitely getting a little lighter in color, especially on the fringes of your mane. You always can be a mentor to your relatives, like Ebby who worked out this morning. It looks like she is working out more often. Could there be a race sometime in the near future for her?

Dearest Zenyatta,
You are such a girly girl! And we girls have to concentrate on our hair. I must say yours always looks groomed and fabulous. I don wonder how you’d look with your mane fully grown down on your neck. Sexy, I think! :)
That was a very juicy tidbit to drop about your future plans. Hmmm. You’re already a the racetrack Queen, a philanthropist, an inspirational speaker, friend, and mother-to-be!! I wonder what else is in store for you, dear one. I do know you’ll be excellent at what ever endeavor you take on.
Hope you and Tasty T have a wonderful day!
Love,
Stel

hi Z! YOU are just TOO CUTE!!! Thank YOU for sharing such precious photos! YOU can style my hair any day!!! LOVE YOU so much gorgeous mama xoxoxo
Jeanie
Dear LauraJ
That total I posted earlier, $1,450, was as of last night at 6:38 p.m.
I was just thinking that yesterday, there were 177 posts to our dear Z’s website. I know there were duplicates, but if each person gave $10, we would save all these horses. Looks like right now, two are not completely funded and one is not funded at all — the big, beautiful palomino that can be ransomed for $1,000.
DO YOU KNOW THAT THE HIGHER PRICED HORSES ARE DUE TO THEIR SIZE — IT IS BY THE POUND — WHAT THEY WOULD FETCH FOR MEAT!!!!! IS THAT JUST SO DISGUSTING AND SHOCKING TO BE TRUE?

Janie (in L.A.)
Zenyatta, you can style my hair any day, but what I really think you’re doing in those pictures is planting kisses because you are so sweet. Love you pretty girl.

Oh, Z, you are just too funny!

Hi Zenny,
This is TOO CUTE! My boy, an OTTB, attempted to style my hair too just this past weekend, after he removed my ballcap. I think he must be reading your diary daily. :) Hugs to you!

Zenyatta – hints of future plans are interesting. Since it definitely won’t involve your being ridden again, I wonder if it might be “SPOKESMARE” for an organization, training facility, a school of some kind or ????????????? Very anxious to find out what they might be. Whatever it is, you will be excellent at it.
@Linda M. Thanks or the link to Departures and David Ingordo’s “How to Pick a Winner.” He sure does.
Georgia Harper
thank you John for these too cute pictures. Will wait to hear of your new career I am sure it will bring value and love whatever it may be. Have a great Tuesday and enjoy that Kentucky fall!!!
p.s. I heard Life is Sweet had her baby is there any news or pictures you can share??
Barbara Wood
@Rosemary McCauley–LOL!
Dearest Z–you are too cute for words! You will forever be our Dancing Queen!
@Jeanie– the next 24 hours will be difficult for me to think of that lovely mare going to slaughter. You are so right–if many give a little, so much can be accomplished.

We think Zenyatta is trying to return the favor of being petting and scratched, in the most generous manner she knows. We met a horse breeder from Australia who told us that his horses also tried to push back on him with their heads when he petted their necks and chests.
Jeanne from Texas
Hi Zenny….love the pictures of you and Mrs. Moss together! Your new pictures are always just too far apart …. hint, hint!
And as far as your mane goes, I really don’t think John would let it look like that….another hint, hint….you do have your image to maintain you know! Miss you on the track….thought I’d get over it by now but alas, I still think about your running every day. What great memories! Love to all….
Jan
Zenyatta,
Looks like you got some highlights in your hair. ;) So anxious to hear what your next career move will be.. Does that mean you won’t always be in foul every year… Your connections are such wonderful, caring and loving people. Stay happy and healthy Big Mama. Kisses & hugs to TT. xoxo

I responded to a questionnaire asking what horse I would like to own, living or dead, fact or fiction. I responded YOU of course. After meeting you at Breeder’s Cup no other horse could even be in the running. You are so sweet, and friendly and obviously beautiful. Hope you are enjoying the gorgeous day we are having in KY.
