Dear Friends,
I hope all of you are well. It is so hard to believe that it is almost October! This year is flying by so quickly.
I must say I am enjoying every moment and having a great time each day at Lane’s End! As I’ve mentioned to you in prior Diary entries, with all of this ‘free time’ in my schedule, I am really investigating several 2nd career options. Currently, I’m diligently working on some very exciting plans and will be sharing them with you very soon.
From the actions I took in these photos, one option I somewhat considered was becoming a HAIR STYLIST. As you can see, while Ann was so affectionately scratching one of my favorite spots…I decided I would redo her hair. Let’s put it this way, she was a GREAT SPORT!
I also tried it with April when she came to visit. I think both of these lovely women did not want to hurt my feelings… but would agree with ME very sweetly…that this is not a 2nd career option for ME! Sometimes you simply have to try different things just to know for yourself that it is NOT for you!
Thank goodness there are other fabulously talented people who do such a great job working in this profession!
Tasty and I share these thoughts all of the time! It really is fun to consider all of the great possibilities!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Terry:
Our father was not a demonstrative man, but he knew we loved him and he us. On your question, actually, I think your jokes are doing Russ a lot of good. Laughing is very healthy. Hugs, J.B.

My cat Pippin likes to “style” hair, too. Maybe the two of you can open up a salon someday :) I love the photo of you and Ann; you both look like you are having a great time!

@Judy Berube
thanks for the ‘you tube’ tip, how would I find it on there.
Do I type in interview with a 2000 yrs old man, Mel Brooks or Carl Rainer?
Carl Rainer takes me back to the Dick van Dyke show. All of those guys on there, what a hoot.

Jeanie: Thanks for info about rescue efforts underway at Valley View Ranch. I called and they still need $1000 to rescue all of the horses at the Nevada feedlot. I gave twice, hope others can donate a small amt. of money to make this happen.
Barbara Wood
@Doreen–thank you so much!
Dear Z– we love every picture we get from you. It makes your retirement bearable for us. And the bonus we got was a huge Z-family to boot! Love you laways.

@Kari, you are in my thoughts and prayers. I am wishing you much good luck in Atlanta. There are great Doctors there. You will stay in my prayers.
@My Sis Dawn, You are so right Z friends are the best, and OMG I think our minds must just runon the same track. I called Overbrook Farm to ask about seeing Storm Cat as well a year or so ago. I got the same response you did. I just wish that someday they would. Would like to see Terlingua’s grave as well.
@Zenyatta love you very much.
Love to everyone.Peggy

For “Z” Friends who would like to share in an Evening Prayer:
………………………………….
O God, Creator of the world,
And King of heaven, sending light
Most beautiful to clothe the day,
And grace of sleep to come by night.
That so in rest our slackened limbs
Grow strong for work as dawns the day,
And wearied minds be fresh again,
As light drives anxious cares away.
With bounden thanks, with offered vows,
With prayers and hymns our debt we pay,
Beseeching thee to keep us safe
As night draws nigh, as ends the day.
May the Lord bless us and keep us from all harm;
and may he lead us to eternal life.
Deneen

Marshall (girl's name)
Zenny, what a cute picture with your fly mask and your styling of Ann’s hair!! You are gorgeous and do not need to look as though you have been to a salon!! You have a natural, outdoorsy coat which certainly doesn’t indicate neglect — you are not in the show ring, but you definitely ARE a showpiece! Love you!
@Kari Bussell: Ecstatic about your Atlanta news! Sincerely hope it is the answer to our collective prayers since we want you for years to come!
“Hope is the thing with feathers — That perches in the soul — And sings the tune without the words — And never stops at all.” Emily Dickinson, 1861
All the very best for always! Hugs!
@Jeanie: Hope others will be able to help out! Those beautiful souls need us; I am sending in another donation! Prayers for success! Thank you for all your efforts.
Sally B.
@Kari, I may be late and a dollar short, but this treatment WILL perform that miracle you need. I just know that God hears a multitude of prayers; as from all here. Bless you
@Jean; Could not find your orig post when I went back for it. Did you provide a link for those to know where to send a donation for these poor innocent horses?
I will try Valley View.com once, see what I can do.

All Z’isters!
Marlene Dodge just updated her website. Enough money has been raised to “ransom” these beautiful horses. Thank God!
But that still leaves NO MONEY for Marlene to use to go from her ranch in the Central California Coast all the way up to Carson City and back, plus pay the fees. That’s a lot of gas, my friends, for such a large transport. Can we help our dear St. Marlene get these dear sweet horses? If enough of us give $5, that ought to do it. Thank you so very much from the bottom of my heart. You are all so DEAR!
Your humble J
