Happy Friday, Everyone!
Suddenly it has become a bit chilly in Lexington. I need to have MY cozy blanket on for my early morning grazing fun with Matt! It is pretty out, though! The fall leaves will start to change soon…and the added color will really make the trees look amazing! This is MY first ‘fall’ in this regard for many years. In California, the seasons do not change as prominently as they do in Kentucky!
I am so pleased that YOU really like the idea of MY PARTY. So many fans have already responded and purchased tickets. If you have done so already…you are definitely in the first 500…so do not worry. The computer people are getting this refined for you so the people purchasing tickets in the future will know this information right away. This should all be completed today. Thank you for your patience!
I am also so excited about the incredible weekend of racing we are all going to be able to enjoy. From the East Coast to West Coast, it is one contentious stakes race after another with so many of the results having Breeders’ Cup ramifications. I love the fact that Havre de Grace and Blind Luck are each performing at such a high level. Their races are going to be so exciting! (I have a special fondness for the LADY’S SECRET which runs this weekend.) Then to see all of the other possibilities…whether turf or dirt for so many other terrific horses…will make handicapping GREAT FUN this weekend!
I can’t wait!
All the best to each of the horses competing during the next few days! All of my pals at Lane’s End and I will be watching!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Hi Zenyatta,
You’re wearing your autumn colors–how beautiful! Keep enjoying what’s left of that Kentucky Blue Grass. We’re all getting excited about your ‘Party’ and this weekend’s racing. Thanks to your families for sharing. Love and hugs, Suzanne G

Okay here’re some thoughts. Many of us can’t make the trip to Kentucky to see and party with you. For those of us who have tracks near us–how about sending the video feed through the tracks. Or maybe the web? Perhaps something like a donation to Old Friends or whatever charity–you will get a special access code.
That way EVERYONE wherever they are can join in on the fun and party with you.
I know Derby Pie probably doesn’t interest you but it sure does me! Maybe we need to get them to create a special Derby Pie for you!
Annabel Girard
Am so glad you are enjoying Kentucky’s seasons. I think the four seasons make it a wonderful place to live.
Glad you are now a Kentuckian!
Dawn Deems
I ditto Margaret’s comment above about the web feed of the party for a donation to a charity. Great idea!

You look stunning in your fall jacket and I see that Matt is wearing his. There’s still lots of healthy grass for you to mow and when the leaves fall you just might enjoy rolling in them. What a lot of excitement you’ve caused by becoming the Hostess with Mostest in 2011 and Tasty will be there to help you. I wish, wish, wish that I could join you but I know that you’ll have lots of Dumplings to party with. Safe trips for everyone this weekend.

And here I thought there couldn’t be maternity wear for horses! Look at you in your blanket; who’d have thought!?!?! :)))
Well, we’ve got a little cooler weather here in TX too (thank you God) with only high of 88 today and nights down to 60 or so. My little slice of heaven even got a little RAIN for 3 days in a row.
Take care, y’all.

Another Texan here with a question. John, is there any chance that your would be the trainer for the next Vertigineux/Street Cry foal? Zenyatta, lookin’ good.

Lookin’ great, Big Mama Z! I’ll be headed out to Santa Anita Saturday to watch The Lady’s Secret. It is looking like a fantastic race, but it won’t be as much fun without you! However, a part of me will be cheering on Zazu.
Julie DuVall
I’m excited to see Blind Luck and your “sister” Zazu run in the Lady’s Secret tomorrow. If either one of them wins I will be a happy girl! And the track is honoring John Shear for his HEROIC act of saving a little girl from a runaway horse back in the spring. There are so many great JOHNS involved in horse racing! :)
Stacey
Dottie, do you have to attend the luncheon to win a visit with Zenyatta or can you just buy tickets?
Jeanie
Dear Great One,
You look stunning and very well-cared for. I love seeing you looking like you have no cares in the world except for eating that Blue Grass. I am so happy you have so many people around you that love you so much. We all love you too. I hope you and TT have a wonderful day today in that crisp autumn Kentucky air and that Little Z is growing big, strong and smart, with plenty of heart.
Your humble J

@My Z Friends and Team Z: I wanted to share with you what our Dumpling “DMCQ” has done for me. Awhile back, Chester “said” on his FB page that Susan (me) might have to get a “C” cap (for Chester”), like our John has a “Z” cap. Well, it took a bit for her to find the right cap and other materials and she sent it to me with a very kind note about our loss of Tiny recently. She said she hoped it would bring a smile to my face and did it ever! The cap is “Z Pink” with appliques of a chestnut horse (like Chester!) and a tree and a big white “C”! It really is TOO CUTE and I will wear it out today to the rescue. I don’t think Chester will try to steal it, but I better watch out for Sass and Rusty! Thank you, again, DMCQ!

I’m so excited to be in Louisville to see YOU, all my Z-pals from CA and last year’s BC, the Mosses, the Shireffs, Mikie(?), as well as Blind Luck, HDG, Uncle Mo and Stay Thirsty, as well as Baffert’s entries. Whooooo-hoooo!
Pat Beck
Forgot to say Love you always, Z!

Last fall, at Breeder’s cup, I noticed your fascination with the leaves on the ground. While you were grazing and visiting with everyone backside, you kept nosing them like it was something new and interesting. I took many photos of you those days. I love your sweet and inquisitive nature.
SHERRY D. WV.
HI YA ZENNIE AND FANS. THE WEATHER IS CRISP. OUR HORSES LOVE IT. MAKE SURE EVERYONE TO TAKE LOTS OF PICTURES AT THE Z. PARTY. I KNOW THAT MEETING EVERYONE WILL BE GREAT. YOU WILL HAVE A FACE TO PUT TO THE POSTS.. HAVE A GOOD WEEKEND. LOVE SHERRY D.
Kathy B.
Hi Z! You do look stunning in your fall blanket! The weather in SoCal is a bit nicer as well, but definitely not “fall” just yet. I will be wearing my Z Cap/shirt to Santa Anita tomorrow in your honor….I am looking forward to seeing all the festivities at The Great Race Place, but will dearly miss your queenly presence!
carole Milby
You look beautiful as always, Zenyatta. My sister and I ordered our tickets as soon as we got home from work yesterday. It’s great to know that we are in the first 500! I guess it’s good for racing that they show your 2010 Classic to advertise this year’s BC, but I must say that it still brings tears to my eyes. I’m glad you’re happy and well.
Susan in TN
Love the idea of video feed for Dumplings who can’t make it out- I am too “tech-challenged” to know if that is hard to arrange.
Rescue at River Edge: I had planned to move Chester and Chopper tomorrow to their new place but it is going to be dropping into the upper thirties at night for a few days and they don’t have much hair yet for the cold! The shelter is being put up now but won’t be completed for another week, maybe. The nights will warm back up come Monday, so I will probably move them then. I will be getting blankets for them but I do want them to grow a winter coat to some degree. I don’t want them to burn calories staying warm! I hope I can create an atmosphere for them inspired by John Shirreffs: as stress-free as I can make it, with a consistent schedule that meets their individual needs yet has “surprises” now and then, just for fun! I want it to be a place where THEY come first. They have both lived almost 30 years and have not had an easy time of it, yet they are both basically healthy and enjoy life- and WANT to live. I am so lucky that I met them. <3
