Good Morning,
Everything seems to be moving right along with MY PARTY. The Breeders’ Cup Official Announcement was released yesterday…and everything is progressing beautifully. This is so exciting!
In the meantime, I’m getting myself ready for all of the events and my photo sessions. The weather at this moment (I’m using the term ‘moment’ as it can change very quickly here in Lexington) is PICTURE PERFECT. I’ve heard at home in Arcadia and also at Barn 55, it is raining a bit today.
As you may know, weight gain is always a big consideration and something that is constantly monitored when one is ‘in foal’. I am very pleased to report that the amount of weight I’m gaining while carrying BABY Z/B is right ‘on target’. I guess you could say that at this time, I’m gaining the perfect amount of weight…and in all the right places! Yippee!
For those of you who have asked…NO GUINNESS! I’m drinking lots of water and really trying to do ALL of the right things!
I’m so used to being an athlete and having my muscles toned and fit…that this “BABY BUMP CONCEPT’ is a new ‘look’ for ME! But I must say, I LOVE IT!
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Queen Z, you look amazing AS ALWAYS. I am one of your many fans in California (outside of Sacramento) and have been watching you for quite some time now. I, like many others, cried countless tears after your last race but pray often that your “new” life is blessed beyond belief. I thoroughly enjoy keeping up-to-date on your retirement and am so thankful for this link to you. I am excited to watch Baby Z/B grow and am praying for him too. Yup, I am going on record to say that I think it’s going to be a boy! ;o)
Lots of love to you and your WHOLE family. You all are shining stars in the horse racing world and I hope many more people model after you. How much more incredible the Industry would be then!
Party on, Zenny!!! :o))

@JAG
Thanks for reposting Cape Blanco’s injury.
The video from the race is awesome; he laid his body down to win, a characterisic of TB. He was so very tenacious in the stretch, neck stretched out all to hit he wire. He had the fracture and did not even change leads.
Hope he gets the Eclipse award he so deserved for Ture male.

@Dawn C: I am SO glad you got to meet Rootbeer! Thank you for your comments, as always. I am proud of him and feel like he has such a good chance to “make it on the outside”! You are actually right on- I believe the plan is to put Pepsi in with Rusty. He is such an even-keel kind of guy! I just wish Shari could have met him.
@Denise in Arizona: I’m not sure what I did wrong, but I didn’t see your new babies’ pics on any of those sites. Not sure I know how to access Flickr correctly. Regardless, I’m so glad you have them and that your daughter is bonding with them! I am very partial to Paints, as our 27-year-old is a sorrel Overo. He is one of the biggest characters I have ever known!
@Barbara Wood: I did not realize that the fires were again a problem- my prayers are with you and all of Texas. <3
@JSmith: Trail ride sounds fun! Wish I could be at the photography day, too- guess I want to do it all!
Thank you to all who provided info on fetal development- Margaret, I knew you'd be on top of that!
@Rosemary McCauley: LOL!
@Terry Crow: Prayers sent your way for improved quality of life for Don. Please give him our best. <3 Thank you for the jokes!
@JAG: Thank you for all the links!
@Judy B: Thinking of you <3
@Kathy Kimber and Charlotte Farmer: Thinking of you both and hope you all are doing well!
Denise in AZ
@Rosemary- good one!

Dear dumplings, My admiration for those of you who can remember what you have read and then reply is immense. I want to reply to so many comments and then, when I get to replying, I can’t remember who said what. I guess it’s one of the symptoms of aging or tech incompetence, maybe both.
@ Terry C – I look forward to your posts each day and frequently laugh out loud. Hope all is going well with Don.
@ Dawn – I was lucky enough to see Seth Hancock twice, both times in Louie’s restaurant in Paris. Each time he was kind enough to sign the Claiborne Farm Stallions pamphlet for me. One of the pamphlets is dated 1993 and the other earlier, undated one, has Devil’s Bag
and Secretariat listed. Both pamphlets have Ferdinand, Danzig and Mr. Prospector. I wish I could remember the year I first went to Claiborne and saw such wonderful stallions but the memories live in my copy of Dell Hancock’s book “From Foal to Champion” which she was gracious enough to sign for me this year when I visited the farm again. Sadly, Louie’s restaurant was gone, demolished, and so I wonder where the Claiborne staff go for breakfast and coffee these days.
@ Kimberley P – Fingers and hooves are firmly crossed here in Fort Erie waiting for your grand baby.
@ West Coast dumplings – Santa Anita sounds like so much fun – I hope I can join you all next year for BC 2012.

Are you still eating your pears? They’re good for baby too! ;)
Glad to hear your weight is on target.
Will you be making an appearance at your party? I think that would be cool!

@Brenda S: I know EXACTLY what you mean! I have such a problem remembering and responding to all I would like to!
@Kimberly Potter: Wow! That is great news! Is this your first grandbaby? If it’s a boy, will it be “Harry”? haha I know you ALL will be glad when he or she is here! Best wishes <3
Roberta Smith
Hello Pretty Girl! I am so glad you have your blanket to keep baby Z/B warm during the cool mornings while you graze on that Kentucky bluegrass! I love you Zenyatta…you look so beautiful!

P.S. I left some messages at the end of the last post.

Greetings All
@Barbara Grimaldi, I thought that piece of trash Rick Dutrow was banned. He should be. I suggest you contact the horse racing board in the state in which this is happening, ask for their government affairs or legislation person and ask them if they know of any law on the books in that state. That’s what I do here in CA. Good luck.

@Trina–no rain yet. And of course we’re leaving Saturday, so poor Charlie will have to tough it out. We might have known. Daisy will protect him from the “bad rain”.
@JAG–I just signed the petition.
@Susan in TN–yes, I heard about 90 homes had to be evacuated. I didn’t get to hear the evening news. Thanks for your prayers.
@Kimberly Potter–wow and double wow! I have tears of gladness for you too. What a day-maker!
@Terry Crow–thanks for filling us in on Don. I never got the story and was too shy to ask.

Zenyatta – You look so beautiful in this photo – I agree lighter from the Kentucky sunrays. It’s like wintertime in Carls bad, lots of rain and wind!! I hope I can get to SA this Saturday, look forward to meeting lots of Z dumplings for fun and frolic. I would love to get up there on Friday for your John’s program. Just darn it, can’t do it all.
You have a great evening and enjoy your “maternity leave” We miss you lots and lots. Thanks to Dottie for all the baby ZEE-BEE updates.

@Shema Satya, horses don’t get morning sickness. They cannot vomit.

@Barbara Grimaldi, there are no federal laws governing horse racing. Horse racing is regulated at the state level. Tracks also have their own policies regarding eligibility to race. That said, you probably won’t find specific rules regarding how often a horse can race, since what is OK for one horse might be too often for another horse. It’s up to the track vet to determine if the horse is unfit to race. BTW, steroids such as Clenbuterol are now banned in all racing jurisdictions in the U.S., so if the horse is being given it, that’s enough reason to ban the trainer. (To be fair, however, that’s a 2008 article, and steroids were allowed until the middle of the year.) Anyway, you can contact the state horse racing commission, state racing association if one exists, the track, and/or the track’s parent company if there is one to express your concerns about this horse.
Margaret
Okay I will try to look up the site where I learned about the baby weight and stuff. It was actually a pretty good site.
I WILL ENDEAVOR NOT TO GO INTO PROBLEMS. That is an absolute no-no. You will see several periods to tell you that we’re going into no-no land.
I will endeavor to tell you what books I cite from so that you can download them or borrow them from a library.
I should tell you that I’m not a vet. I had a horse many years ago and learned some things then. I did a fair amount of reading after Z lost her first pregnancy. I wanted to know how and why. I also wanted to find answers to what the BLM refers to as “miscarriages” when they did Calico a couple of years ago. Not one vet book I read mentioned miscarriage for amare losing her pregnancy. It was ABORTION.
Z’s foal loss is REFERRED TO as Early Embryonic Loss. Not abortion and not miscarry. A loss.
The reason this is important is because OUR government when they do winter roundups will tell you that the mares miscarry there late term pregnancies. They tell you this so as to make it less dramatic and so that it won’t tear at you so much. Please don’t be fooled by the BLM. They forced mares to run for miles in freezing cold temperatures which will result in their losings their pregnancies. Not because of Mother Nature but because of man.
I’ll be back later to post links if I can…!
Margaret
Guess what without too much angst I found the site!
Go to http://www.yellowhouseranch.com click on foaling and scroll down. This may be a site that is not kid friendly–for sensitive parents. I can’t dictate what you should or shouldn’t teach your kids. I can tell you here it is and then allow you the freedom to choose where you go from there.
Please let me know if this site somehow offends you so that I have some idea of just how far I should or shouldn’t go.

@Diana S – I just now read post #348. Thank you for offering to press the invisible ink button. That is too cute! I’m sure I won’t have any problem with my fellow Z’sters not being nice, though. :-)
@Kari Bussell – I feel sure that between the three of us we can muster up a few words.
@Cynthia H – You will be with us in spirit. I can’t wait to meet the Tennessee Angels!
@Terry Crow – Loved your joke. I hope your friend Don is doing OK.
MK
Thank you, thank you!

Good evening Zenyatta,
your grass still looks pretty good, leaves from the walnut trees are really falling over here, giving the grass a yellowish speckled look. And the walnuts hitting the roof like crazy, splat, splat, splat.
Take good care of yourself and sleep tight, sweet dreams for you tonight.

All Z fans:
Zenny lost her first preganancy on March 29, 2011; She had a Saturday night second
date with Bernie on April 2, 2011, which makes her 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant or 186 days pregnant.
Here is the foal development link that Dottie originally put on the site:
It is from Maremeadows.
http://www.maremeadows.com/Articles/foaldev.htm
Her foal now looks like a horse (hooves, hair, neck and tail)
HI HOOVES TO Z/B foal; size of a beagle dog.
Andrea
Thank You Margaret, very informative and helpful for those of us who want to be in the loop, foaling and pregnancy and all that stuff!
quarterhossgal
Queen Z….you look like a very contented mother-to-be!
Kendra: what a great story, fact is always more interesting than fiction. Have a wonderful visit.
Andrea
Pardon my emotion, but Rick Dutrow is a PIG! He represents the very worst that can be found in TB racing! OUR JOHN is a representative of the very best, polar opposite of Dutrow! Didn’t he train Big Brown? Raced him with a crack in his hoof? JERK!!!
Shirley Donoho
Hi, Queen Z: I missed getting your posts while I was out to sea a couple of weeks ago. Finally caught up with Facebook, etc. You are looking great, darling!! Keep up the good work. You are going to be such a wonderful mama. I can hardly wait to see Z/B. Love, Shirley
Irene Caty
