Good Morning,
It’s FRIDAY! I hope each of you had a very healthy, happy and productive week!
In our racing world, so much is taking place during the next 4 days. I really do need to get all of the details of my schedule worked out. I do not MISS one thing. TASTY agrees.
On Friday, Keeneland opens their Fall Meet. Over the next few days, they are hosting several major prep races for the Breeders’ Cup. My friend from California, SWITCH, is competing in one of them. This time, she is sprinting. Overall, Keeneland offers a lovely stakes program. All of these races will be fabulous to watch. In looking at the FORM, they have very full fields. It might be a good idea to start your handicapping early.
In general, the 2 year old racing is heating up as well. There are several graded stakes for them taking place now.
Then on Saturday and Sunday, Santa Anita and Belmont Park continue their preps for the World Championship Days. There won’t be a moment to spare with all of these contentious races taking place in our country.
I do want to mention that BLACK CAVIAR is going for #14 at Caulfield on Saturday. What a thrill! I so enjoy watching such top-quality racing.
What a ‘sporting weekend’ we have in store.
The BEST OF LUCK to all who are competing both ‘on’ and ‘off’ the track in all of these events!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~

@Michelle Moore –England–so sorry for your loss. I’m sure it never really leaves you.
@the Canadian Dumplings–Abigail from Montreal and Brenda S and any others that may be lurking–Happy New Year!
@Jeanie–what FABULOUS news! Thank you SO much for reporting to us. I am so thankful that we are not just about chit-chat (as fun as that is!), but also about giving. Z–you started it all for many of us.
Jamie
I noticed that “E” had a published workout today. I am excited to see her race soon. Hugs and kisses to Zenny

Hi All
Just wanted to respond to @Joanna from TX. I remember that story on the very large number of HOYs at Lane’s End just before Zenyatta was bred to Bernardini the first time. It was actually 5. Here is the link to the article: http://www.thoroughbredtimes.com//breeding-news/2011/03/01/horses-of-the-year-lanes-end.aspx
Also wanted to comment to @Barbara Wood: yes, SHE did inspire us, didn’t she? I love that about the GREAT ONE. I just feel it now more than ever. Thank you.
BLESSINGS TO ALL ON THIS LOVELY OCTOBER DAY.
Your humble J

@Barbara Wood, thank you for your message, Mallie was really special, Lauryn has fond memories of sitting on him in the stable while I mucked out. I have only seen my husband cry twice – when Lauryn was born and when we went to the field to be with Mallie at the time he needed me the most x
Laura
Very busy next week or so, Breeders’ Cup wont be the same without you, everyone will miss you! <#

@Joanne from Tx
Zenny was taken over to Darley for breeding, probably because he had a “schedule to keep and was his home
breeding shed (safety)”

Thanks Joann from Tx. I didn’t read your earlier post. And what’s also interesting is that Medaglia d’Oro and Paddy O’Prado share the same father, El Prado. He was one terrific Irish champion.
Kari Bussell
MY Queen, I love the way this photo shows off your incomparable top-line, neck, cover girl face and those precious ears. You look perfect! Please thank sweet Sarah Campions for sharing so many great photos of you. I must be brief right now so I don’t miss any of Versus at Keeneland…
@Barbara Wood- You gave me great joy as I was also unaware it was on TV….Thank you….Such a treat here in TN…TVG blackout..
PS- I’ll be back with you after races…I am behind on replies..
May all the horses run with joy and come back to us safe and sound….

@Rosemary McCauley
Oh yes !!! Lots of talk about Alpha, Bernie’s boy. Can’t wait to see him run this weekend. To Honor and Serve won the Nashua and Remson (he is also one of Bernie’s boys).

So great to see all the new posters. Congratulations to you. These are some of the best people ever. We are all devoted Zenyatta fans and everything related to Zenyatta!! Welcome. Happy Thanksgiving to all Canadian Z fans. My dearest friend lives in Toronto ( she and I were neighbors in SD for 5 years) Greatest gal-pal in the world. I visit once a year and she comes out to Carlsbad/San Diego too ( usually in the worst of the winter weather) Eh????
Safe rides to all horses who come in first or last. Doesn’t matter. You are all so beautiful.
Terri Zeitz
I’m so glad that the girls will be represented in the Breeders Cup Classic by Harve de Grace.
She is one awesome girl. Her sire, Saint Liam, was euthanized after a catastrophic freak accident in his first year at stud at Lane’s End.
Larry Jones, her trainer, treats her like royalty as he vans her himself to the races. And he gallops her as well.
She’s representing the memory of her sire as well as her sire’s breeder, Edward Evans. And Eight Belles as well (same owner- Rick Porter and trainer). She’s going to have a lot of help from a higher source in her quest. You go girl. And be safe, Princess Grace.
Kari Bussell
Congratulations!! Hoofit (New Zealand) & Edgar Prado (up)in a thrilling photo finish over Aikenite…Hamazing Destiny hit board..show.
Kari Bussell
Eggdrop!!!….Wow what a beauty she is..first time I have been able to get a view of her on TV.
Our beloved Gio Pointe looks good in clip of him they just showed.

Zenny, you and TT must have some very interesting conversations. Lord knows there’s nothing better than good old fashioned horse sense! You are so kind to keep us updated on all the doings in the racing community. It’s still hard to imagine you’ve been “retired” almost a year. We think you could still kick some serious butt on the track. ;-)
signofthetimes
There is a very cute photo of HDG and Uncle Mo checking each other out(both with ears pricked and eyes on each other; not sure is she is in season) on Uncle Mo;s face book page; Larry Jones expression is precious; his “little filly” and the boys. She is quite the tease so maybe Awesome Maria will have some competition.
Terry Crow
@Kim S-Thank you. Don has been my friend for 35 years. I’m not about to abandon him now. @Susan in TN-Looks like Judy Berube and I have another convert. When you can quote lines from the film, you’re a real fan. The Four horse? Nobody bets the four horse. They put little kids on the four horse to have their pictures taken. @Barbara Grimaldi-Agree on Dutrow. I hear that your group has some strong opinions of others also. Do you care to share? @signofthetiomes-Hope the coming year is the best ever. Your posts are always informative and entertaining. I see that I am not the only one aware of JAG’s prison uniform. Wonder if she will wear it tomorrow? @Trina Nagele-Thank you. @Katie Clawson, future jockey-Always good to see you posting. @Diana S-I want one. @Kari Bussell-I haven’t seen anyone post a description of that scene in The Shootist so I will try to define it as best I can. John Wayne is riding in a horse drawn street car on his way to the climatic gun fight. He knows he doesn’t figure to survive, so he gives his seat cushion to the driver. As he gets ready to disembark from the trolley, a young woman who is the only passenger besides he says “Sir, isn’t it a beautiful day?” in a very sincere manner. Wayne replies “It’s what we call a fall-spring.” He is obviously very taken with her and her sincerity. I was, too, to remember this after all these years. I do not remember the name of the actress, but she appeared to be about 18 years old. Just before he leaves the trolley, Wayne turns to the young woman and says “I sure hope the right man comes along.” Kari, I am so impressed with you and your posts that this scene immediately came to mind. I hope you get to see it some time. It only lasted about 3-5 minutes but I have never forgotten it. @Susan in TN and Kari Bussell-You might be a redneck if your lips move while reading a stop sign. You might be a redneck if you have ever used a bar stool for a walker. You might be a redneck if your 4-H club stands for horses, hogs, hoe-downs and Harleys. You might be a redneck if the last photos of your momma were taken from the front and the side. You might be a redneck if you vacuum the sheets instead of washing them. Here is today’s joke–Jesus’ secretary had noticed that he was really working hard in heaven. she said to him “Get out and meet your people here. Have a good time. You deserve it.” Jesus thought a moment and decided to do just that. So, He went outside. He had a great time as he walked down the golden streets, shaking hands and signing autographs. Along the way, He heard the sound of a rip saw and noticed sawdust coming from a window of a little shop on a side street. He walked down to the shop and went inside. There He found a bearded carpenter working so hard he was sweating, and the drops of perspiration were running down his face. In his rich melodious voice, Jesus said “Sir, why are you laboring so hard? You should rest and enjoy yourself.” The old man said to Jesus, “OH, no, I must continue. You see, I had a son on Earth whose birth was a miracle. My son knew I was a carpenter, and my eyesight being what it is, I thought that if he heard me working he would find me.” Jesus stared at the man, and his eyes started to mist. Jesus said “Father…? The old man said —“Pinocchio?”

Oh My !! If this stallion does not bring muscle and brawn to the American TB, no one can. He is a big massive muscle with short very muscular legs. Very impressive
stallion.

Lonhro is one handsome Boy. I checked our his Pedigree. He has Ancestors from New Zealand, Ireland, Great Briton, Kentucky (Mr. Prospecter, Raise A Native, Sir Ivor, Nureyev) and from Canada, the Great Northern Dancer. Can’t wait to see the babies from the American mares he will breed with. Hugs, JB

@ Terry C – Loved the 4H redneck, I think I might belong – I want a horse and a Harley.
@ signofthetimes – Lonhro is definitely a sturdy, stubby looking boy and he’s got some impressive names in the greats and great greats, but I like Bernie’s looks better.

@Joanna from TX, AP Indy, Mineshaft, Curlin, and Zenyatta were all in residence at Lane’s End. Rachel came over to be bred to Curlin. When Zenyatta had her dates with Bernardini, she traveled to Darley. Mares travel. Stallions stay at home.
