Good Morning,
All is going well with MY PARTY plans. I am getting so excited. At this time, we have guests who will be attending from approximately 35 different states and Canada. This is so much FUN!
I know Dottie and Leonard are working quite hard on all of the specific details one needs to plan and organize for such an event. Yesterday, they were reviewing the timeframe with Amy (Video Production) as to when I will attend the party via live feed.
In the meantime, I’m getting to visit with special family friends. REAGAN came to see ME the other day for a ‘play date’. This baby thing is still so new to ME. It think she thought my coat was quite ‘soft’ when she touched ME.
TOO CUTE!
As I’ve mentioned before, MY BABY will be so much bigger than a human child. REAGAN is 6 months old. At this age, BABY Z / B will be at the stage of being weaned and weigh somewhere in the range of 400-500 ish pounds…per Bayer Equine Connection.com.*
“Foals are commonly weaned at 5 to 6 months of age.”*
Wow..this is interesting. I can only imagine that BABY B/Z and I will really be quite close for several months after his/her birth. I really like this idea. I hope to teach ‘MY DUMPLING’ some great things.
“Once a foal is no longer nursing, a 500-600 pound weanling should be eating approximately 2.5% of its body weight in feed and forage in a day.”*
This is also something to note. Foals grow quickly.
I love learning all of these new things. I truly want to be well-prepared to be a GREAT MOM!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~
Z

Baby Reagan is one lucky child. @JAG, Kennedys in San Diego, Sharon Call, PerkyGreen, Nicole Tufano, Kathy M, Judy Berube and Susan in TN-No doubt in my mind what is going on with Blind Luck. Her connections have probably discovered some illness which will make it improbable, if not impossible, for her to be a race horse again. You won’t be able to fool the people at the sale. She will be purchased as a broodmare. @Brenda S-Yes, I know it w a parody role but I wish someone else had played it. Special redneck joke for Diana S-You might be a redneck if you divorced your first cousin, married your second cousin and are cheating with your third cousin. @Susan in Tn and Kari Bussell-You might be a redneck if you ever had a rifle in your back at a wedding. You might be a redneck if you have ever towed a car using panty hose and duct tape. You might be a redneck if the last time you saw your daddy he was in a group of men chained together picking up trash. YOu might be a redneck if you have hubcap wind chimes. Today’s joke–Two men were walking home after a party and decided to take a shortcut through the town cemetery. Right in the middle of the cemetery, they were startled by a tap-tap-tap sound coming from the shadows. Trembling with fear, they found an old man with a hammer and a chisel working on one of the headstones. “Holy cow, mister,” one of the men said after catching his breath, “You scared us half to death. We thought that you were a ghost! What are you doing working so late at night?” “Those fools,” grumbled the old man, “They misspelled my name.”

Nothing softer than a horse’s muzzle … again, thank you so much for sharing.

You are so gentle and sweet Z…what adorable pictures…Reagan is a little doll. Thanks to you and Dottie for sharing. These pictures make me smile. Hugs to you Z…

My two foals, Dash and Dawn (Dash is just two weeks older than you are, Dawn a year younger than that), grew SO FAST I couldn’t believe it. I was wishing they would slow down and stay babies longer but they were nearly full height at a year old and outgrew their halters faster than I could keep up. Someone gave me a foal sheet for Dash when she was born. It was way too big for her when she was born. I tried to use it to keep her clean after a bath for her first show, two days before she turned 2 months old — and I could barely buckle it on her at all. It had gone from being way too big to way too small within 2 months!
I’m really looking forward to seeing pics of your baby and hope someday I will be able to see you in person. You’re going to be a great mom.
BTW, Dash loves children too. She would try to follow children out of her stall when she was just a few weeks old, and she still likes them as a grown (and beautiful!) mare of seven. I’ll bet your baby will love children too. Dash got her disposition (sweet and friendly) from her mom and your baby probably will have yours too. You’ll teach him or her well — and I hope you teach your baby to dance!
Dash and Dawn are full sisters and their mother’s name is Dottie. :)

Hope you teach you little dumpling that wonderful walk of yours.

Hello Pretty Girl! I love the pic with you and the baby…getting you ready for “Momhood”. I know your “little dumpling” Z/B will be very beautiful and also one TERRIFIC horse! I love you Zenyatta!

Z, this is such a sweet picture of you and baby Reagan. In a few months you will be nuzzling baby B/Z.
You are such a lucky horse to have YOUR Ann and Jerry as well as YOUR John, Dottie, and all the lovely people in your life. I wish all race horses could be surrounded by love the way you are. I think the racing industry would grow a lot if the fans knew that the horses were truly cared about and even cherished the way you are, dear Z.

Thanks to everyone who put my mind at ease about our Zenny giving birth…I just want her to be ok.
Now I am worried about Blind Luck–what makes her owners take her to an auction instead of taking care of her or selling her to a good farm? She was a great racer one day and up for auction the next? What am I missing here? I join the others here who don’t want to see her shipped to Japan…and then you know what. I do not understand this at all…and pray for that beautiful horse.
Dearest Zenyatta–love and hugs to you always.
Robin
What a cute picture of you and Reagan! You are the best Queen Z!
Love you LOTS AND LOTS!!!
Ingrid Arnone
What adorable photo! Well everything coming from you is adorable my dear Zenyatta, love you, Ingrid.
harriett
No question about it. If you can handle being up close and personal with a human baby, a baby horsie will be no problem for you.
Ida
Not only is Blind Luck up for sale but so is Switch, Unbridled Belle, Life at Ten…I’ve been in tears most of the day. Zen and Rachel are so lucky that their connections love them enough to give them such a wonderful life after racing. All these girls that are being sold to God knows who and God knows where they’ll be going, deserve so much better. Stardom Bound and Ginger Punch, two mares I adored, are in Japan. Who knows if we’ll ever see them again in this country. It’s so unfair to these wonderful mares who raced their hearts out and to the fans who adore them.

Zenny, You are so good with babies!! You certainly sense they they are infants and you appear very careful and good natured with them. I too can’t wait to see your pic’s with your little ZEE BEE. I am still thinking PINK!!!!!!!!
Terry Crow
@Sue Fredrick-The situation with Blind Luck is similar to that involving Life At Ten. She was due to go on the auction block before the last Breeder’s Cup but was withdrawn at the last minute. Then came that fiasco of a race in the BC Ladies Classic. And, since then, it is obvious that LAT has big problems and will not race again. That situation smells and so does this one. Also scheduled to be sole before the Breeders Cup is Smiling Tiger. I wonder what is going on with him?
pamela manzer
Love and Kisses to you Zenny and your baby-to-be.
Terry Crow
that should be sold, not sole.

Z– you precious girl. You are so kind and tender. That is just one of the things we love about you.
@Susan in TN– you are just full of good news, and we are all SO thankful. Please keep updating.
@all concerned about Blind Luck– I agree 100%. Why the secrecy about what went wrong? If I could insure the future of BL, St. Trinians, and Life at Ten,Switch, and Unbridled Belle, I would do it in a heartbeat.

Forgot to mention–
@JAG–petition signed!
@Margaret–hope you get to feeling better.

Delrene
Zenyatta – you will be Momma of the Year when your baby is born. We all know you will be a wonderful Mom. No worries there. These are just the sweetest pictures. Your blog/Dottie is the highlight of my day. I have many things to be thankful for and one of them is this sight for “All things Z” and learning so much in the horse world. I see that Blind Luck will be sold. I’m wondering if she is being sold to become a broodmare. Perhaps no more racing. I love that little mighty girl too.
Have a wonderful day Z and everyone. Lots of posts to read today, but will have to do it later. I just read in the Bloodhorse about the future sale of BL. It makes me sad. Not sure why. @Kennedy’s I hope you can fill us in and give her a carrot and a kiss on her nose for all the thrills she has given us at the racetrack.
Sally B.
Oh, what precious pictures. You are a gentle horse and you will be a perfect mama. Part of being a good mama is an inborn instinct I think. You’ll love your foal & teach it many things. Perhaps your dance too?
I am getting excited about your party too Z!! love with 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z

I now see lots of us are concerned with Blind Luck’s future. Another gorgeous filly was Wickedly Perfect who was sold for lots of$ last year to a breeder in Japan. I sure hope there is a clause that she be returned to USA and hopefully a wonderful home like Old Friends. Thank God for Zenny’s caretaking by her owners. This is the side of racing that can be so cruel. Of course, I know very little about the inside workings of buying, selling, breeding, but all the ladies mentioned, Blind Luck, Unrivaled Belle,LAT etc. gave everyone some incredible racing moments. I pray they will be safe and well cared for in their new home. It is worriesome.

Dear Ida:
You are so right about Z and RA. Wish all of the horses could be so lucky. Hugs, JB
