Happy Monday Everyone,
We have just completed another very exciting weekend of racing with many full fields and competitive events. Congratulations to all of the winners and their connections! To win a race at any level is a big accomplishment…and to win a graded stake is truly something to be cherished.
I sincerely want to send a HIGH HOOF to FRANKEL for his victory on Saturday at Ascot. It is with great respect that I want to congratulate him on his undefeated record that is now 9 for 9. This wonderful colt is competing at the highest level in our sport….and his continued success is something to be treasured!
While at Keeneland, MY JOHN visited with TIGER again….the adorable pony in this photo. Tiger was there last year with his connections when MY JOHN went to Keeneland to run Harmonious. He is laughing here as it reminds him that ALL HORSES ARE “TOO CUTE”. They simply come in various shapes and sizes blessed with different capabilities and goals! This thought is so true…and can be applied to so many different aspects in all levels of life.
Just thinking…only 18 days until Breeders’ Cup….and this means….only 18 days until MY PARTY. Wow! This is all so exciting. Also, I can’t wait to share with YOU what MY JOHN whispered in my ear when we visited.
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Kennedy’s: thanks for allowing us to enjoy your visit with Blind Luck (one of my favorites)!
Susan in Tn: Bailey is holding her own and we’re seeing some improvement! We have a farrier that specializes in laminitis and we’re keeping our fingers crossed. Thank you for checking on her.

I could almost hear all the “oooohhhh’s!! around the world when we opened up this post! Yes, he is too cute! John, too! Thank you for the smiles!

Hi all – I confess, it was me. I was on BL facebook page and the cutest pussycat is in the background. She is keeping a sharp eye on things – couldn’t help but comment. I have 4 rescue pussycats and they don’t miss a beat.
Just read on Bloodhorse that GIACAMO is coming back to California ( Santa Ynez) farm. Yeah for Giacamo. California winters are milder. Loved watching the video of Handsome Mike and the other “handsome Mike” Too cute. Let’s help Scrunchy and “Spend a Buck”
Don’t forget to all who can to watch the special on ESPN.
Your special boy Bernie has some new pictures on his Facebook page too and his dapples rival your dapples. This baby will be so loved by all.

To answer John’s question (think it’s his question) “what race I am training Tiger for?” I would say definitely for the sprints! Sometimes those little ponies are fast and besides he can zig-zag in, out and around the other horses because of his size. Carry-on Little Tiger, I know you didn’t get that name for being a push-over…you’ve got a fierce side beneath that demeanor! ;=)

ooh how gorgeous mini zenyatta,john have a nice big smile.Good night my queen,always take care yourself and the little one.we love you always candi from ocala florida.

Thank you Dawn for the interview with Ann and Jerry Moss. I will watch it in its entirety tomorrow. What a lovely, gracious couple. Zenyatta, your Team is the absolute best. someone said it best “the absolute gold standard of owners”. Thanks to all of your Team for allowing us to have this connection with you.

With the utmost respect, I couldn’t disagree more with your sentiments. Horses are not machines ( Secretariat notwithstanding). If this industry is to survive, Jerry and Ann Moss need to be the rule and not the exception, which they currently are not. The enjoyment of the fans should never be the first priority…

Good night, sweet Z, sleep tight till the morning light.
@Terri Z—Made a donation to TROTTUSA.org for Scrumpy.
@Delrene—Re: Your noticing E’s kitty in the photo, watching everything like your own four rescue cats—Nothing gets by YOU either! And no wonder I got you mixed up with Deborah Richman—you are both into kitty rescue! Hoofray!
@Anne from Paramount—So glad you enjoyed the poem! Thanks for your response.
@ALL who commented on the poem for Rod—thank you so much!

Sign of the times: How very true. I was so saddened to hear that this lovely mare, Sassy Image was injured. I was hoping that Mike Smith might ride her once again in the Breeders Cup.
At least they were honest about her. And Dale Romans was genuinely upset about her.
Speaking of breeding, Rick Porter who owns Harve de Grace, says that he has no luck in breeding horses. I am hoping that a syndicate consisting of her sire’s (Saint Liam) connections can acquire her after she retires. Robert Evans is the brother of the late Edward Evans who bred him and Quality Road. William Warren was his owner and tried to buy as many of his progeny after his death. Will Farish, is the owner of Lanes End; he died tragically after only one breeding season at LE.

Regarding Blind Luck and all racing fillies and mares. D. Wayne Lukas told a story about Lady’s Secret, who ran off to the outside and just stopped racing. The females just reach a point in which they just want to stop racing. Maybe it’s hormones or biological imperative that kicks in that makes them want to be mamas.
Blind Luck had traversed the country in her wonderful racing career and maybe she was tired of all that traveling and racing. Her trainer has ordered an MRI to be done to rule out any injuries.
What’s amazing and a testiment to her trainer, is that Zenyatta never lost interest in training and competing. And speaking of traveling, Zenyatta lost over a humdred pounds after the Apple Blossom at Oaklawn. That is why she never went to New York to race at Saratoga. Z and her mother were never good travelers. John Sherrifs did the right thing for Ms. Z by not traveling too much with her.

I loved Steve Haskin’s article on Frankel.
I truly believe that Bobby Frankel’s spirit is in that horse, Frankel is a perfect specimen he is built like a linebacker and he is 9 for 9.
Go Frankel the horse and the man.

I said what you said about Blind Luck 3 posts ago.
It is not only females, stallions snd geldings also
“quit”. Since they are not able to speak and say “I
Am really tired of running, getting bumped and
Etc. They stop racing. Shackelford is a great example.
He has been running in races he is not happy
In and not winning, even quitting right at the mile.
When they stop it is a sign. Hollendorfer let her down
And she liked it, just like Rachel.

Happy Tuesday Z – What a great photo of YOUR John and Tiger. Would love to be there too to watch you watching them.
Wish I had seen YOUR MIKE in the winner’s circle with “Handsome Mike”. Would have been really exciting. I so enjoy watching him ride and will ALWAYS remember your trips with him aboard. How exciting!

Good morning Zetty,
I bet you just love it out there in your beautiful paddock with your best in-foal- pal T. T., the leaves on the trees around your paddock must be turning just as they are here. I didn’t realize that traveling gave you such a fright for your nerves, but I’m not surprised. I knew a horse who was traveling across the country who wasn’t happy at all, according to his guardian, he kept bouncing around in the reg. horse trailer, not a limo like yours, but I guess he didn’t like the accommodation, he kept kicking the door. His guardian had a heck of a time. I am glad you have people who are tuned in and actually care. :) :) So, you’re in good shape MOM & PARTY GIRL.

sign of the times: sorry I missed your post; it’s so true about horses. I wish that Shackleford gets a rest and doesn’t go to the Breeders Cup. Poor baby, he needs time off.
Terri Z
@Donna: What a terrific article by Steve Haskin. I really believe that Bobby Frankel’s spirit resides in Frankel, the great stallion.
@all the Z lovers and Dottie & John Sherriffs: I wonder if Frankel and Zenyatta will have a date after he runs at the Breeders Cup next year.
I didn’t look up the pedigree, but that would be some match up. Mike Smith will agree that he is worthy of our queen.
And I am sure that Sheik Mohammaud would be most abliging. And speaking of dates and foals, I wonder if a baby shower is in the works for the Zenyatta/Bernadini foal?

Hi Z! This new fb thingy-the way they do things now makes it hard to always see your posts. So I have to remind myself to go to your fb page every day so I can see your posts. You could probably do a better job running fb-boy how exciting; you get to have another party. Wish I could be there, but it is a very long trip from CA to kentucky. Maybe some day! Have a wonderful day Z. xxoo

GO GET ‘EM TIGER! OTHER SWEETIE…CAN’T WAIT TO HEAR WHAT YOUR JOHN TOLD YOU- CAN YOU GIVE US A HINT? XOXO
Anne
I love this photo. What a cutie Tiger is.
There was a goat running around at Saratoga on the Oklahoma side this summer. He would follow anyone from that barn around. Handsome fellow if I could somehow share the photo I would. He would buck and butt his head if you were not paying attention. Meaning… stand back, “I am coming through!” ha…
Your John looks so happy there. I was at Keeneland but left before he arrived. I wish I could have seen this photo shoot.

Zenny, have I told you lately that I LOVE, LOVE you!? I am happy that your friend Kentucky Derby winner Giacomo is coming to California…. will his fans be allowed to see him at Magali Farms?
Big Beautiful Girl – I MISSED YOU while away!

@Fran Doos, you don’t have to go through Facebook in order to read Zenyatta’s posts. Just go to zenyatta.com and click on the News tab. You can always save the site in your favorites. It will also be in your browser history unless you clear it out.

Are you a redneck (California or otherwise) if you want Tiger in your back yard? Or are you a redneck of you drive around town with Tiger in the passenger seat? Just wondering …
Delrene
@Trina -Being stuck home with bronchitis has given me an opportunity to catch up -but have perused these posts and have not found the one where you “mixed me up” with Deborah Richman. I would love to meet up with you and Deborah someday at SA. Don’t we meet some great folks on Zenyatta’s website? The love and energy and spirit of Zenyatta just keeps on flowing. I have volunteered with a group called Rescue House in the San Diego area for approx 10 years now. Started when I went out to look for a companion cat for my boy who has long ago passed over Rainbow Bridge. They are like potato chips, you can’t just have one. But right now, this group of 4 is plenty, 3 girls and 1 boy.
All the best to all the posters this dreary morning in Carlsbad.

A Poem for Kimberly Potter on the Arrival of Her Fourth Grandchild
(Her Son’s First)
October 18, 2011
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The doctors have stated
Today’s the date For the birth long awaited
Of your new grandchil’—
It’s been quite a while
Of fear and worry
That baby would hurry
And come way too soon.
But a good long spell
Of care and rest
Has been the right boon
So baby inside could stay
Until today.
And now we wait
For you us to tell
That all has gone well.
With much zest
We’re wishing you all the best!
@Delrene—In explanation, in the “pre-birthday” poem for Deborah Richman that I posted on Saturday there were references to her going to be at Santa Anita that day, wearing a Dumpling tag and cheering at the rail as the horses would be hitting the wire—those were things YOU had said YOU would be doing! Deborah didn’t dare go to Santa Anita that day because, as she later explained, her daughter’s due date was so close—she’s actually due today, which also happens to be Deborah’s birthday! So that’s why my face is red. I do hope we can ALL meet at the track one day and cheer the horses home together! (I am another who likes to be at the rail for all the excitement). BTW, I also have three rescue kitties (and three rescue dogs, and three rescue turtles…). Love those animals!
