Good Morning,
Yesterday’s post…thank you for all of your loving comments!
A few days ago, I had some very special visitors. The man on the left is Don Robinson. I was foaled and raised at his farm, Winter Quarter, in Lexington, Kentucky…not too far from where I live now. He has come to visit ME several times during my racing career and since I’ve returned to Kentucky. I know him very well!
The gentleman on the right, scratching one of my favorite spots, is my breeder, Eric
Kronfeld. Wow! It was so great to see both of them. Eric followed MY racing career very closely and constantly stayed in touch with what was going on in MY LIFE with MY TEAM.
Both of these gentlemen touched my life in a very special way. In reality, if it wasn’t for my breeder planning the mating that he did for my MOM, Vertigineaux, to Street Cry, I wouldn’t be here.
Then when I was foaled, Don, was right there. He made sure that everything went well for ME while I was growing up as a young foal and yearling.
It is interesting to note that MY breeder is also the gentleman who bred and owns my baby sister, EBLOUISSANTE. Don foaled and raised her as well! So HOOVES CROSSED for all of these members of ‘MY FAMILY’ as ‘E’ embarks on her racing career at BARN 55.
LIFE IS SO INTERESTING! When one reflects upon certain things that happen in his/her life, the timing of certain decisions being made seems to play such an instrumental role in what happens in life….probably much more than one can say.
It was really so great to see ERIC and DON again! These are truly 2 very important people in MY LIFE! I can’t THANK THEM enough for the very early decisions they made…which had such an impact on ME becoming ME!
With Love,
Hugs to All~
Z

Does nyone know when Eblouisssante is going to race?
Alex Bowdoin - MA
@Tessa, I would guess that “E” will not race until next year. She is only 2 yrs old. John will know when she is ready…He is a very good trainer as you know from Zenyatta. She did not race until the end of her 3yr old year.

@signofthetimes – I have had chicken fried steak smothered in white gravy. It’s a favorite of mine.

Dear Signofthetimes:
This would be a sad turn of events if Shack’s spirit and will has been compromised. Let’s hope that he does well in this Mile race and his confidence and competitive spirit is renewed. Hugs, JB

I’m so glad your family comes to visit you often, Zenyatta. I wish I could, too, as I’m sure we all do. Fingers crossed for E, too. I hope she has a fine career and I know your dear John will take as good care of her as he did of you.

You are such a beautiful mare and so much fun to watch while you were racing. I used to change my plans just to stay home and watch you race. I hope you have a wonderful retirement; you deserve it! Enjoy your visitors.

One thing is certain — when Eblouissante goes to the track, it will be the most watched debut in a very long time. When is that likely to occur? Probably not this year. Like Zenyatta, she is a tall filly — probably over 17 hands at this point. Eblouissante is shorter coupled than Zenyatta. Zenyatta, according to those close to both horses, was more “on the muscle” than E at this age. On the other hand, E is an earlier foal (1/27/09) than Z (4/1).
What we do know is JOHN, THE DIAMOND CUTTER, will do what’s best for Eblouissante as he did with Zenyatta.
When we first met Eblouissante in June — it was love at first sight. This black velvet beauty stole our hearts. When we saw her a few days ago, she clearly had grown — in height and was more muscled than our last visit in August. See the photo posted on her Facebook page. Her head barely clears the stall doorway. We wish her only the best and will be enthusiastically rooting for her throughout her career.

@signofthetimes — The Virtual Stable posts the races of all horses in one’s stable a few days before. I think in E’s case, we will be reading about it in many places prior to the race. It is probablly a good thing that E does not have newspapers delivered to her stall nor have a computer to check DRF and BloodHorse.

I got to meet Don Robinson at a party at the WEG last year! I had no idea who he was. Z had won a race that day, and he heard me talking about her around the buffet table. He was excited that I was excited, and he told me all about Eblouissante whom he was raising across the street! I realize now what a special moment that was. He is a very kind man.

Wow, Zenny, Don and Eric certainly knew what they were doing! You couldn’t have grown up to be any more perfect. Thank God for them. I went to see another pregnant girl today, Zenny. I got to visit Rachel Alexandra. She’s got a big baby bump, just like you! You’re both so beautiful and perfect. Love you, big girl!
@Judy Berube and Ann Maree – Thanks for the link to the Don Robinson interview. That’s a great interview. I especially like the part where he said that Zenny turned around and looked at him. How touching!
@Melinda Kaczur – I’m so sorry about your recent troubles. I hope you’re feeling better now. I look forward to seeing you at Z’s party.
@D Stuart – Thanks for the update on DMCQ. That’s great that she’s feeling better.
@Cheryl – I sincerely hope that you don’t leave us. I’ll keep you in my prayers.

I was fortunate to meet EBLOUISSANTE one day when I visited Barn 55. She is very sweet, like you. She even gave me a kiss!

How wonderful to have your first “family” visit you. I have to wonder how many people involved in a horse’s birth and life go to visit them. I imagine not too many! You are the greatest, Zenyatta & your peeps are too!
Delrene from Carlsbad, Ca
Dear Zenyatta and Dottie – I love your picture today. a big hug to both of those
gentlemen that helped in YOU being YOU. They must be bursting with pride everytime they see you. You are so special. We also look forward to your Sis Ebbby
‘s debut. She will be special too.
@JAG – If you are planning on going up to the Zoo, could you give us a heads up? say a week or two in advance ( if possible). Definitely would love to meet and share the experience – Coming from about 2-3 hrs away – depending on traffic.
to everyone that is having a difficult time with illness/ and or economy, know that we care here in Zenyatta’s world. Take heart.

Wow, Pricilla Clark from Tranquility Farms has said it all…..We love you Zenyatta….

Zenny- Don and Eric must be so proud of you (and themselves!). I’m so glad they come visit you. They must be modest men- I might consider wearing a sash when in public saying,”I BRED ZENYATTA”,etc. if it were me! haha-kidding-sort of :) Love you, sweet, funny girl <3

I have a “meternity” question for those who know. I know the Mosses do not plan to do fetal sexing tests. However, my question is this: as the time draws nearer, will there be necessary tests like ultrasounds that by their very nature give that info.? And also, when is the next milestone concerning vet checkups? I am assuming names for both fillies and colts are being considered.
Barbara Wood (Texas)
AAUGH!! I do know how to spell “maternity”.
