Happy Friday to ALL!
I so hope all of you are well…and our friends who needed some of our ‘special thoughts’ earlier this week are doing better!
Recently, I have spent some time outdoors with Matt contemplating so many different things. On Saturday, BLACK CAVIAR is competing in the G2–Schweppes Stakes at Moonee Valley Racecourse. She is going for her 15th victory in a row…with the hope of becoming 15 for 15. Here’s wishing her a safe and successful trip! This is quite an accomplishment to achieve the first 14 victories…so all the best to her!
Then in America, we have some wonderful races taking place over the next few days. New York has their Showcase Day on Saturday. The Breeders’ Cup prep events are concluded and we are now gearing up for the Pre-Entries to be taken on Monday morning. It is getting quite exciting!
The majority of horses preparing to run in the World Championship races will probably have 2 more workouts before their BIG DAY! So much needs to be organized and planned in advance so each horse is RIGHT ON TARGET to do his/her best when competing in these events!
As for my dear pal, ZAZU, she will not be participating in the Ladies’ Classic this year. After she breezed the other morning, she had an inflammation in her right shoulder area. The proper tests were performed. It was discovered very quickly and she will be 100% soon. She simply needs some RNR at this time. Zazu will be out of her regular training routine for about 90 days. During that time, she will be hand-walked a couple times each day and enjoy a well-deserved and relaxing vacation.
We thoroughbred horses are athletes…no different than humans. Sometimes, we are not quite ourselves, for one reason or another. Fortunately, we have wonderful people around us who pick up on this very quickly…and the proper measures are taken to be sure we will be fine.
The technology today is also at such a high level. The veterinarians and vet hospitals have machines that can evaluate the different parts of a horse’s body to see exactly what is going on with specific bones and muscles. The level of sensitivity that these machines can analyze and detail is quite amazing. The constant growth and progress in this aspect of the industry truly amazes ME!
Relax and have a fun weekend! As for ME, I’m resting up for MY PARTY. It takes place exactly 2 weeks from today!
With Love,
Hugs to All,
Z

Zenny, I am happy to hear Zazu is taking it easy and she will soon be back to 100%.
It must be bittersweet for the Mosses not to have her at the BC. They were accustomed to you being part of the big show for three years straight. By the way, you look wonderful in your sweater…keep baby Z/B nice and warm.

Zenny, I see you are a calendar girl again…I’ve ordered the BC calendar for my wife because you are front and center where you belong.

Zen- you have such a loving and caring heart….a beautiful contributer to mankind.
Cathleen
Hugs and peppermint kisses to Zazu. Love her. So sad she won’t be going to the BC this year for I know she would have taken the Ladies Classic! :) But I’m happy that they discovered the injury early and she’ll be 100% soon. Enjoy your RNR Zazu! Cathleen XOXXO

Z, I have been out of pocket for a few days, had to get some CEU’s for my job. Now I think I will spend the evening catching up on all the Zenyatta posts. Also my grandchildren keep me busy helping them get the two TB’s I bought for them tacked up and ready to ride. Queen Z I hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Dear Zenny: reading your posts and the posts of all your fans is better than reading Bloodhorse. I find out so much information and just wish I could read each and everyone daily. I cannot believe how so many friends have been created from this single website you certainly have brought to many people together. To some of you who have posted such sadness in your lives please know you are in my prayers. Much love to you, Dottie, John and and the Z team.

and that would be “so many people”

Dearest Z–thank you for all the great updates. High hooves and fingers crossed with prayers going up for Black Caviar and all her “relatives” racing this weekend.
@Dawn Conrad–thanks for the great links. I agree with you about Bill Nack’s Secretariat book. Also, Silver Charm has a lovely face. Glad he’s doing well.
@Margaret–so glad you’re better. That happened to me a few years ago, only it was pneumonia. It was the week of Christmas, and we had tickets for the Rose Parade on New Year’s. I wasn’t full steam, but I made it! Great experience for any who haven’t been. It was on my bucket list.
@Brenda S– If I get back to Three Chimneys before you do, I’ll gladly leave a Peppermint for Rahy. I get tickled just thinking of crusty Dynaformer. It will be a great loss when he leaves us.
@JAG–save room for me. I’m sneaking in too!LOL!
Hope all of you making plans for the big party have a beyond-your-imaginations time! I’m getting excited for you.
Cheryl
Looking forward to the BC at Churchill. Also looking forward to the big party. Love you Z.

Nice picture of you and Matt!
I read about Zazu on her facebook page the other day. She is such a beauty! It is so fantastic these days with all the technology that they can detect things early enough to prevent further complications. She will be fine and we can all look forward to seeing her in 2012!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Hey baby girl, you look great in the picture. I can’t believe just 2 weeks from today I’ll be at your party. It was such a beautiful day here in north Texas I hope we have the same kind of weather in 2 weeks up in KY. Last years BCC was very cold, oh course you remember. Love you baby girl.
PS. Little Man of Texas and Dolly Mae send their love

Hello Precious Zenny,
It was a bummer to hear about Zazu not going to the BC. But, thank goodness that her connections are the BEST to think of her health first. Can’t wait to see her race next year. By the way… You are looking fab in your fall wardrobe. Have a wonderful weekend to everyone. I think that I will make a trip north to Santa Anita tomorrow to cheer on Sister Moon. It’s a great place to spend the day and relax.
Love YOU OOOXXX

A big hello from Australia Zenyatta. I too am wishing Black Caviar well today, but am not a huge fan of her connections-they r very negative when it comes to the appraisal of other horses, particularly Frankel. Was disappointed to hear of Zazu’s injury-but glad to hear that she will recover fully.

@JAG – thank you so much for the link to the BC catalog. I just ordered mine. Can’t wait to get it. Good luck to Sister Moon this weekend. I believe she runs on Saturday. Saw her first race at Del Mar and is she a fast one!
@You might be a redneck if you’re banned from the Memphis zoo because you disturb the monkeys. You might be a redneck if you have more belt-buckles than pants.
Billy Bob and James were taling one afternooon when Billy Bob tells James, “Ya know, I reckon I’m ’bout ready for a vacation. ONly this year I’m gonna do it a little different. The last few years, I took your advice about where to go. Three years ago you said go to Hawaii. I went to Hawaii and Earline got pregnant. Then two years ago, you told me to go to the Bahamas, and Earline got pregnant again. Last year you suggested Tahiti and darned if Earline didn’t get pregnant again.” James then asks Billy Bob, “So what you gonna do this year that’s different?” Billy Bob says, “This Year I’m taking Earline with me.”

Debbie
hi Z! YOU look beautiful and sooo cozy! YOU have a wonderful weekend!!! I will miss seeing Zazu race in the BC but I’m sure she’ll enjoy her time off! I’ll be rooting for Black Caviar, I just have to find the time she’s racing… to all- SAFE trips! Love YOU gorgeous mama xoxoxo
Debbie
oh thank you Alex! I will definitely be watching Black Caviar’s race;)
Rosemary McCauley - Southern California
@Alex Thank you for the heads up on Black Caviar’s race. I will definitely record. I haven’t seen any of Black Caviar’s races and I’m looking forward to it.

Hi Zenyatta. This is something cool you may not know. In Santa Fe, NM at Maria’s restaurant which is famous for tequila and Margaritas, they have named a drink “The Zenyatta!” $50.00 a glass. Wow! Isn’t that something? They also have the “Mike Smith.”
#1 New England fan
Love you, Zenyatta – you are such a gift to us all. I hope to see you in person some day.
@Dawn — thank you so much for the link to ESPN Sports Century piece on Secretariat. I haven’t seen that for quite a while and, once again, cried as I watched him run. Team S was a predecessor to Team Z, I think.
My “Racing Royalty” print of our QUEEN with Secretariat is one of my prized posessions… gorgeous portraits of the best male and female thoroughbreds ever.
I loved watching Big Red when I was young, but got away from racing for quite a while. Queen Z brought me back to the world of racing and has added countless hours of joy to my life, just watching her dance and race and learning about her and her wonderful connections.
Love and hugs to all in Zenyattaland!

DAWN CONRAD- Ditto the Wm. Nack book on Secretariat. I have the 1975 edition. It was outstanding.

JAG- Thanks for the link on Sahadi.
What is this, “the land of Zenyatta and John Henry”? You know those two have no boundaries. They transcend all. LOL

EVELINE- What a wonderful link to the 101 year old cowgirl. Isn’t it amazing what horses can do for people and their lives.
We are blessed to have them among us.

@ AnnMaree – What a great little video with Gary Stevens and Point Given, Thunder Gulch and SJones! He seems to be such a sweet man. I met him in person when he gave a backside tour of Del Mar Racing Stable “Little Red Feather” – I don’t believe he is affiliated with them anymore, but he was so engaging and sincere. Have run into him at the beach – right around 29th street in Del Mar ( literally almost ran over him with 3 grandkids in tow) A nice man. Great memories of Smarty and Three Chimneys too. Guess he’ll be coming back to USA this December after breeding season in SO. AMERICA. And Dawn, I will surely watch the Secretariat video. Last night I was lonesome for Z and watched some of her videos set to music. A few new ones I haven’t ever seen. Always lovely to watch. Hope everyone has a safe and healthy weekend.
Z – your blanket is too fashion-forward. So chic!

@Signofthetimes. Yes, she is a long coupled horse but I think it matches her bone structure, don’t you? I was trying to imagine her with a shorter back but I don’t think it would fit her overall conformation.
