Good Morning,
Now, this is TOO CUTE! Here I am as one of the rides on the newly created childrens’ carousel at the Los Angeles Zoo.
Thursday, my dear owners attended the Zoo’s Press Conference to unveil the TOM MANKIEWICZ CONSERVATION CAROUSEL. The Moss’ were quite instrumental in the development of this project and it was with great joy that they attended yesterday’s event. Not only did they love seeing US…GIACOMO, TIAGO, ME, and the many other beautifully crafted animals…but they also wanted to honor their dear friend, TOM, for all of his hard work in helping to make this happen.
This carousel was truly meant to be something very special for all children and their families who visit the L. A. ZOO.
I’ve heard many of our “Z DUMPLINGS” are planning a trip there soon. Please keep us posted with the updates on your adventure!
As for other news, my pal, COZI ROSIE, had her final workout yesterday for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf Race. She breezed 7 furlongs in a nice and relaxed 1:27 and change. She will ‘walk today’ as part of her training routine. This is a very normal practice as most horses do have a very easy day of activity following a day they have just run or worked. During the next 2 days, her barn will get her ready to leave for Kentucky. ROSIE is on the Sunday morning Tex Sutton flight. The plane leaves very early in the morning…and even with the time change, she will be at Churchill Downs and settled comfortably into her stall by early afternoon.
Other horses, per the DAILY RACING FORM, are completing their final works during the next few days as well. YEAH! 7 days and counting. I’ll keep you posted on all of the news I hear as it develops!
As for ME, today I have Claire Novak coming from ESPN. I also have visitors coming from the V FOUNDATION. Then a reporter and TV crew from a local channel will be coming out to do a piece on ME. So, I have a rather busy, yet FUN FILLED, schedule today. I must say….I do enjoy all of this activity!
Good luck to all of the horses running around the country this weekend! There should be some very good handicapping opportunities!
I also want to send a HIGH HOOF to RAPID REDUX. 19 in a row! I can truly say…THAT IS ONE HUGE ACCOMPLISHMENT! My heartfelt congratulations to this special horse and his connections!
Just thinking, next FRIDAY is MY PARTY! It’s getting close!
With Love,
Hugs to All~ (Have a great weekend!)

Zenyatta,
The carousel is just adorable. I envy the CA Dumplings who are going to visit it… Hope you are keeping warm and cozy. You are sure a busy Mama. ;);)
@ Joanna, Have fun in Washington.. Burrrrr..

@Anyone interested, I think I have put names to all the horses from the collage back in Post #365. There’s one I am not sure of, but I’m reasonably confident about the others. Working left to right and top to bottom, here they are. If any is incorrect, maybe Dottie can post the correct name(s).

@Judy Berube sending prayers for your wonderful Russ that it will be some minor little glitch. Give him our love. Hope he’s home soon. Hope you feel our love and support. Hugs
@Sign of the Times yyyeeesss you bet I’ll be at Lanes End on Sunday, didn’t know if they were going to do it this year. I’ve just got to see my Indy before something happens to him. Love all their stallions but Indy is a game changer. He may be old and a little overweight but he’s still a beauty to me. Hope you can come!!

Hi Zenyata. Wow, what a beautiful children’s carousel unveiled at the Los Angeles Zoo. We have got to take some time to get there and see it. You, Giacomo and Tiago – what a wonderful idea. The Mosses, as usual, are so generous – they are truly such wonderful people. It will be a great weekend of racing in both thoroughbred, quarter horse and standardbred horse divisions. Can’t wait. Congratulations to Rapid Redux – I got a little nervous at the end, but when he hears a horse coming, his heart and courage kicks in and he reboots – just like you Zenyatta, when you did not want to have anyone ahead of you at the finish line. Truly amazing. Your social calendar seems to be really filled up – know you are also so busy with TT making your final arrangements for your party. Have fun with all of your acitivities. Stay comfy, eat well for two, rest well for your photo shoots. Love you, Angel.

Zenny, love the photos of the carousel — you look gorgeous as always!!
@Judy Berube: All the best wishes and prayers to you and Russ. Hope he feels better soon and that the tests are okay, too. Big warm hugs to both of you!
To Everyone: A wonderful weekend and a good night’s sleep!

Can’t wait to ride Queen Z on the carousel! Hope she doesn’t do any tricky dance moves while I ride.
Allie: Omaha was buried in Omaha, NE., there is no way his bones could be under a buiding at University of Wisconsin. Maybe University of Nebraska at Omaha, since the racetrack has been used for dorms and other buildings for UNO.

What beautiful pictures! What a lovely comment about Rapid Redux! Thank You, Zenyatta and Dottie for always being so gracious about the contributions of the other horses and the connections of those horses in this industry. Your information is timely as to the auctions and the racing schedules that underscore the backside of all that makes racing so interesting! I am learning so much!

Regarding COZI ROSIE. Quote:
Dottie Ingordo, racing manger for the Mosses, told Daily Racing Form that the four-year-old Pleasantly Perfect filly was found be “off behind” on Friday morning. The filly will undergo nuclear scan tests next week.
“Because the timing is so close, we have to decline the chance to run in the Breeders’ Cup,” Ingordo said. “You have to do what’s right for the horse.”
This is just one of the reasons we love you, Dottie! I wish more “connections” would put their horse(s) first! Thanks John Sadler!!

I agree with Cynthia H (L.A. L.A.) the racings gods can really throw a curve ball into the sport :-(

The Carousel photo of you and the Moss is really beautiful Zenny. What a great idea. I will be sure to tell all my grandchildren to visit the LA Zoo and the Carousel. You look so beautiful and the Moss looks so happy. Love you so much Zenyatta and thanks a bunch for shareing the pictures. Giacomo looks great also.

So they do the fan appreciation day yearly at LE.
Very nice gesture for such a busy breeding

How old he is.

Love the Kentucky Horse Park Video Cam – it’s amazing…. I love Cigar. Saw him when I visited Kentucky ( the years go by so fast I can’t remember, but it was awhile ago). Some poster asked about the music on the carousel and the New York Times article said it was selected works by Jerry Moss’s and Herb Alpert’s A&M record label singrs/groups. So it should be very interesting different music rather than the normal noisy type carousel music. For sure Sting and who knows? The Lonely Bull….? All horses and riders have a safe trip to CD for your upcoming Breeder’s Cup races. I want everyone and all horses to come back to the barn safe. Every one is a winner.
I got my Breeders Cup commemorative magazine and you know who is on the cover. You just are the gift that keeps on giving. Thank you for sharing all your good times with those of us who love you.
Allie
@Diana S ~ Thanks for the funny, I needed that. There is so much misinformation out there about Omaha’s location, that I am beginning to think that I may need to visit Nebraska.
Diana S
@Gary Moulton: Man! I’ve been wondering where you’ve been! Glad to see your post. Not at all glad about Cozi. Drat!

@Abigail from Montreal – in pic #6 at http://www.scpr.org/blogs/offramp/2011/10/27/3697/just-checked-out-new-carousel-los-angeles-zoo/ (posted above by @Elizabeth in Oregon), Zenny is different in several ways – tail, feet pose, and on the Breyer model online, the butt looks a little bigger and/or higher.

On the Carousel pics, I also like that the animals have friendly faces, instead of scary. For some kids, that may make a difference.

@Terri Z – I love all the ideas you came up with for “getaway” sketches of Z & Tasty Temptation. Enough to fill a calendar? Or a book, like @Barbara Wood suggested.
@JSmith – I just caught your wonderful stampede description, and @D Stuart’s followup, thanks!

Dearest Z, I spoke with Linda in NJ on the phone tonight, and she is home from the hospital and beginning the six weeks or so of recuperation from her hip revision. She said she got a 46″ TV so she can watch the Breeders’ Cup action from home, but she’ll be here in CA next year when BC returns to SA! Good night now, sweet Z, sleep tight till the morning light.
@Judy Berube–We’re all sending our prayers and best wishes to Russ and to you. Hope he’s home again soon.
@Terry Crow and Gary Moulton–Good to see your posts.
@Vicki B—Great redneck jokes!
@Debbie G and Alex Bowdoin–Glad to hear you got your Dumpling tags!
@Diastu–You’re too cute! Thanks for the smiles. And thanks for doing all those great Dumpling tags! High hoof!
Vicki B.
@judy berube – Oh, take care, I hope Russ is feeling better real soon!

@LauraJ – Thanks for all your work to put names to the photo on #365, I found it hard to read much.

@Trina Nagele – Glad you liked the jokes, some of the ones I found were REALLY not fit for this site, so I can see that Terry definitely has been filtering them. And your post reminded me I later need to email Diastu in Tempe for a Dumpling tag, as I was waiting for her to catch up with all those going to the BC next week, which I will miss. I still have her email address, Thanks.

I love the pictures of the Mosses and the carousel is awesome. I have to go to the zoo to visit you and Giacomo. That is really cool! Have fun with Tasty. I love you!!!

What a wonderful gift from Mr & Mrs Moss! Z Girl, I am looking forward to hopefully seeing you at your special reception and the BC next weekend. Take care and I love you. Praying for Kari B, who loves you so much. Have not heard from her in a while.

@Omaha: It occured to me that if there were any photos of his burial it might be possible to geo-reference them using images in the background like ridge lines or buildings or even trees. A good GIS person might be able to triangulate. Then there’s the ground penetrating radar that Charlotte Farmer used to find Noor. Even the fact that a previous dig was made can be used in the search profile.
@Omaha’s Bones: This old biologist says his bones should be there. Human and animal bones buried for centuries are found in archeological digs all the time. The lime would have spent itself on the soft tissue, not so much on the bones. Discussion welcome.

WOW! GIACOMO, TIAGO and QUEEN Z in one carousel at the L.A. Zoo. Thanks to the Mosses and Tom for making this happen. I am going there for sure.
