Good Morning,
Happy November 1st! I hope all of you had a fun Halloween! I heard that my dear pal, SOPHIE SHIRREFFS, dressed up for the celebration. She wore a black and orange pumpkin costume as she helped Dottie hand out the candy. Sophie had a terrific time as she truly loves children and adored the ‘pats on the head and hugs’ she received from the trick-or-treaters. TOO CUTE!
My evening was rather relaxed here at Lane’s End. TASTY and I enjoyed our time together and the pleasant weather. Let’s hope it stays nice and dry this week for all of our Breeders’ Cup visitors and participants! So far, the weather reports look good! HOOVES CROSSED!
This morning several of the European horses were able to go to the track and stretch their legs. Here’s GOLDIKOVA on the right and directly behind her is SARAFINA. They are safely through their initial quarantine procedures. Now it is back to the track for all of these European horses to continue their daily training programs for the WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS.
The post positions were drawn yesterday and the fields are now set. The morning lines are published and the various talk programs and handicappers are reviewing the fields and studying the past performances. It was cool this morning, but as you can see in the photo the sun was trying to ‘peak through’.
My day started with visitors from TVG. They were teasing as I went out to the field and started to prance around that the main times they saw ME in the early morning was for their WORKS PROGRAM. That is the case with today’s visit as well. TVG is going to do a segment on prior BREEDERS’ CUP CLASSIC WINNERS….and I AM ONE. (YEAH!!) They wanted to include ME in their piece. TOO CUTE!
MY PARTY is really getting organized. We have some fabulous items for the SILENT AUCTION. I know Lane’s End sent some things of mine as a halter and shoe. Such fun! Friday is getting close! Oh, here comes Sarah with my afternoon schedule. Let’s see what other FUN THINGS I’m doing today.
Enjoy your day!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Hello my sweet Zenny, Dottie, Zen-sters and the ADORABLE Sophie Shirreffs!!!!
I just felt that I had to add Sophie to me greetings today — she must have looked so CUTE all dressed up!!! Imagine all those munchkins being greeted by Sophie & HER DOTTIE at the door — too much fun altogether!
Isn’t it getting EXCITING as Breeders’ Cup edges nearer and nearer? I just LOVE it. Can’t get enough of the works and the interviews….although Ms. Zenyatta, I gotta say that I’m working a whole lot HARDER at staying excited than I did in 2009 & 2010. I just couldn’t wait to see you, watch you & hear about during Breeders’ Cup week. I’ve even burned ALL of the footage over those 2 years that I could find and you know what, big girl? I still watch it all from time to time, as well as your “retirement” DVD which is nice to have BUT I DO THINK WE NEED A “LIFE & TIMES OF ZENYATTA” like they made for Secretariat…I’m sure that Penny Chenery would approve!
Here’s a cute story: When you won the BC in 2009, I was in fact walking around downtown Toronto with my son who was living there at the time & who INSISTED that I go out for dinner & then bookstore shopping with him after. Hard call, Zenny, between only child & you, I must say! However, at the moment your win was broadcasted over the TV screen in one of the bookstores, the whole place went silent. Then someone yelled: SHE DID IT! GO ZENYATTA GO! And then the whole place erupted with cheers & clapping & screams & tears. There must have been a good 200 hundred people in that store, Zenny. AND THEY WERE ALL CELEBRATING YOU!
FOR THOSE INTERESTED IN THE BC 2012 CALENDAR, here’s the link….and guess who’s on the cover?????

@Barbara Wood,
I am so happy Burning Lady has been saved. This happened before my paycheck went into my bank account, so will save up to help the next one, and unfortunately, there always is a next one. I am so happy Burning Lady is safe. Thank you to all who helped. You are my heroes.

My dear Zenytta, I want you know that TVG is one of my favorite channels one reason is that I have an account and the second reason is because I bet on you so many times, and all of the announcers and handicapper’s they are so nice.
I am so glad that you and TT are happy and well, love you Ingrid.

ALSO, here’s Blood-Horse’s Lenny Shulman doing a “BC Minute” of some of the thoroughbreds out on the track this morning, featuring GOLDIKOVA. And, unless I’m mistaken, Lenny is broadcasting from “your spot” Zenny — the barn & the back where you were stabled and came out to Meet & Greet last year!

TVG having a segment or show on prior BC Classic winners and you being one, is absolutely fantastic and I am so excited that we will see you once again doing what you did so well. But what the heck Zenyatta, TVG knows just how good you are and I surely hope they never forget.
Keeping my fingers crossed with your hooves that the weather there in Kentucky holds out for the BC races on Fri. & Sat And it sounds like your party is going to be a hit and with the silent auction should be great too. Those that attend I am sure are in store for a grand time, and wishing everyone the best.
You take care Zenyatta, you and your little baby bump are in my prayers.
Sending my Love & Blessings with lots of hugs!
Mary
You are so busy Z….you do so many fun things….but so much for charity. I am sure TVG people loved seeing you. I hope the party will be fun. I will be watching the Breeder’s Cup from my living room in VA. Hugs to you Z…you and Tasty have fun.

LINDA in NJ- I will look forward to seeing you at Santa Anita for the Breeders Cup in 2012. If you are definitely going to come let me know in advance and I will get early special ticket bargains for us.
Isn’t it crazy that you can fly across the country for much less than you can fly
a couple of states away. Oh Well!!
Take care of yourself and heal well.

@Sophie Shirreffs.. You are TOO CUTE! Will we see a picture of you as a pumpkin? :)
@Maddy…Anyone who can recite all twenty of Zenyatta’s races must be a true fan. Very cool! And I really enjoyed the you tube tribute to Z. Thank you for sharing it!

@Barbara Wood (Texas)and @Brigid Matthews hit the nail on the head. Yes, Sophie Shirreffs looked cute — but is there photographic proof? As we would dearly love to see her in her Halloween glory!

Wish I could be there this year, but am looking forward to watching you, Zenny, on TVG, along with Goldi, HdG, and your other favs.

@Gloria Jeanne, “Zenchronicity” may not fly with the Jockey Club. They might think it’s too close to “Synchronicity” or they might not. Somehow I think the Mosses probably have a name or two in mind already.

@ Maddy – So many people are reading your words Maddy and would like to say WELCOME to the family. Thank you for that great video tribute to Zenny.

Welcome, Maddy! The video tribute was awesome.

@ MADDY: Welcome! And thank you for the GREAT video link. I’d never seen it before & it’s just FANTASTIC! I saved it to “Favourites” in my YOUTUBE file.
Especially Horses
@ Maddy. What a great video. But I feel such an ache in my heart right now and I’m crying. I miss seeing Zenyatta at the track sooooo much!!!! To think that almost a year has slipped away from that last historic race of hers. I am so thankful to the Moss’ and Dottie for keeping her fans connected to her in retirement. She is healthy, safe, happy, much loved and soon to excite all of us with her new foal, but I will always, ALWAYS, miss seeing Zenyatta the great race mare displaying all her magnificent power….what Mastery, with Historian Blazing speed…..she was a Mastorian Blazer.

Zenny- I have missed all your updates for the last 5-6 days because we were at our son’s wedding in Sonoma, CA. But I did see that adorable photo of your Jerry and Ann and “you” on the new carousel! How fun! You do seem very busy, Z. I really appreciate all the BC info, as I have been out of touch. Sophie must have been so cute as a pumpkin! And YOU, with your own growing “pumpkin”! Love you, sweet, funny girl. <3

Zenny, if you have a chance to see Maddy’s video of you I’m quite sure you will find it one of the best ever…and I’ve seen many.
Maddy, what a great job you did with this one. My family has enjoyed every minute of it.

Good evening Zenyatta,

Have a good night, Sweetie

@All my Z friends: Hope everyone is doing well. I really missed everyone. The wedding was wonderful and Sonoma is beautiful! We did have a bad scare while we were gone. We got a call that our 27-year-old horse at home was lying down just outside his “room” (run-in shed/stall) and couldn’t/wouldn’t get up. The vet was out, my brother and brother-in-law were out but to no avail. He was not hurt or sick. My brother stayed(bless him!) and fed and watered him and covered him at night. My husband left CA after the wedding, flew all night to get home and Choctaw was up within 5 minutes(after being down for approx. 36 hours. My daughter and I cried like babies when we got the good news. He is totally fine. We rarely leave home and we are not completely sure why he did what he did, but he CLEARLY did not like us all leaving at once! SO- I may not go to Z’s party after all. I’m just going to have to see how he is and make a decision. If my husband can be here for much of the time so Choctaw knows he’s not being left, then I hopefully can make it. Hooves crossed!

@Susan in TN – I’m so glad Choctaw is doing better. I know how scared you must have been. I really hope you can make it to Z’s party.
@Abigail in Montreal – I loved your story about the bookstore! That’s like something you’d see in a movie.
@Maddy – Welcome to Z’s diary! I really enjoyed your video a lot, even though it did make me cry. Thank you!
