Good Morning,
There is always so much going on in our industry! That is what makes it such a fascinating sport! On Sunday evening, Fasig Tipton had their select sale. Horses of quality…both in race record and pedigree sold extremely well.
Then on Monday, the Keeneland November Sale began. The first 2 days have been amazing. If you want to review all of the prices and horses sold, please go to KEENELAND website. Click on SALES….and then the heading for CURRENT SALE. You will be able to see the results. They are also showing the sale as it is taking place live, if you’d like to see that as well. It is all quite interesting.
On a personal note, the TOO CUTE part of the last few days is that MY JOHN got to see 2 of my family members at different stages of their development. In the above photo, my yearling 1/2 sister by Henrythenavigator is just beginning to learn to take direction….to turn to the left…..and then turn to the right. Every single part of this learning process is extremely important. One step builds upon another until a horse is ready to get a rider on it’s back and go to the training track. These detailed steps are all part of the early stages of the ‘breaking process’. Patience is so important and each day a step forward is hopefully taken.
The other family member, my weanling 1/2 sister also by Henrythenavigator, sold on Monday at the Keeneland Sale. She is now several months old….and to quote MY JOHN….quite good looking! Since he knows ME so well and now spends so much time with EBLOUISSANTE, he loves to see how the entire family is developing. I think he sees so many family traits in all of us: strong hind quarters, adorable ‘inquisitive ears’, and good bone structure!
The weanling was HIP 36 and sold to Adena Springs Farm for $1,500,000 Dollars. John tried to capture the video of her selling in the ring for you. Here’s the video.
Hmm! I must say, my family is TOO CUTE! It is great fun keeping up with all of them and their progress! I wonder what these 2 fillies will be named by their owners?
Have a wonderful Wednesday!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Oh, by the way, so many of you asked about my poster of the Jaime Corum painting. The final details for my new SHOP are just getting completed. The link to purchase this poster will be available by the end of the week. It is really very special…if I say so myself! (Blush, Blush!)

The weanling filly half sister was acquired by Frank Stronach. And he uses Chad Brown, a former assistant to Bobby Frankel. And I am sure that he will be in touch with John Sheriffs, another Frankel associate, about her. She will be at Adena Farms in Ky and will be trained there and in Florida.
The yearling was bought by an Australian owner privately. And he is considering using John Sherriffs as a trainer.
Zenyatta is a gift that keeps on giving. I am so happy for team Z that they will continue to have her line. They well deserve it.

P.S. I will try to keep the dumplings updated as much as possible about this wonderful weanling. I live in South Florida and I will ask around at Gulfstream about her progress.

@signofthetimes, ITA about Uncle Mo. I hate it when sound 3-year-olds are retired. However, his health has to come first, and it would be terrible if a continued racing career resulted in more liver problems. I don’t know how that ailment occurs. I may go look it up. It can’t be too contagious though; I don’t think he was isolated from other horses. As for V + HTN, I suspect Coolmore sent her to him twice (a) to support their young stallion with one of their best mares and (2) because they thought it was a good fit. The girls should be good turf and/or synthetic runners, but who knows? They could turn out to be great dirt horses.

@Terri Z/ South Florida: That would be great if you could pass on any news you come across.

@Trina Nagele in So Cal: Trina, once again you created a stunner of a poem. Your work is fantastic!!!

Thanks for your thoughts on V and HTN. He is a very
Nice looking stallion. What I mean is internal infectious
Like chronic active hepatitis, which he does not have. Animal
Is not infectious to others. Had a transplant patient who
Received organ from person with cancer and recipient got
Same cancer few years later. It was carried in blood.
Infections can be carried in body fluids. He has a rare condition
That he may have acquired from food or possibly from barn
Or who knows.

Another lovely B day poem, happy b-day Especially Horses.
So hope your mare has recovered.

I highly doubt any person that pays millions for a horse will not have insurance. Those who ever spend $5000 get insurance for their horses. It is like any insurance and optional.

Yes, the rider horse bond is very very tight and I am sure much tighter competeing in grand prix. Both are driving competative. And I am sure hard to find such a match. He was a very lovely stallion. Read that he was breeding and their is semen around. Some lucky horse owners and mares will get a part of him. How very wonderful !!!

I wonder what venue will they use for Zenyatta’s party at the 2012 Breeders Cup at Santa Anita? I think 250 tickets would be sold out in less than a day. It’s a good thing that Jerry Moss knows about promoting rock stars; they might have to rent a stadium or the Hollywood Bowl. OMG
It will be some scene at her next BC Party in her homestate.

@all interested in DynaKing at Heart of Tucson– his story may be followed on the FB page from day to day. He has developed abcesses again. The plan was to send him back to KY, but Judy says she thinks that would kill him, so he will remain in AZ.
Way to go, Animal Kingdom!
Prayers for A.U. Miner.
Good morning, Z. Hope you are feeling as frisky as your “condition” allows!

Your family really is TOO CUTE! Can’t miss those beautiful ears flicking around. Thanks so much to your John for sharing the photo and video! Best to you all.

@ Terri Z: I was wondering the same thing. There is always the Top o’ the Stretch area at the west end of the grandstand which can be used for private parties; they could reserve the grandstand seats at that end for party guests. Or some big tents in the infield for the before and after race portions of the celebration.
Gloria
Thanks for the info! Oooh, I have a feeling once that store “opens”, I’m gonna be broke! Love to all of Team Z!

That was an amazingly composed weanling and quite athletic looking (no surprise there). Talk about accelerated training – wearing a bit at 10 or so months? Wow. Interesting, but very different from the sport horse world.

Jenn, I watched the Hickstead video you recommended and of course many more. He was something else. I watched a video of McLain Ward talking about Hickstead and he thinks Hickstead was the greatest jumper of all time. There was a terrific article written in Horse-Canada.com called Wrong Ending that is really beautiful. You should look it up and get ready to weep. Anyhow, I’m so sorry you missed WEG 2010 due to broken ribs. Hopefully Kentucky will host them again sometime and you can be there.
