Good Morning,
All of you are SO SWEET! Thank you for the kind comments regarding the photo yesterday. I’ll try to address some of the questions many of you asked here.
Firstly, MY TAIL is fine. I never had a lush tail. It was MY DEAR MARIO who worked so hard to keep it looking terrific. Here at Lane’s End, MATT helps ME with it as well. In yesterday’s photo, the wind was blowing and it was partially hidden. It is just fine…and NO, TASTY does not touch it. WE both always want to look our best…and having a nice tail is part of the LOOK! We respect this with each other.
Many of you asked about the SIZE difference between the two of us. I am a pretty tall girl, as you know, I’m right at 17 hands in height. In yesterday’s photo, I have my head held very high while I’m cuddled up to MY JOHN. (He is 6′ 2″.) I’m also in the front portion of the photo and TASTY is standing more in the background. She is a very well-built horse as well, and per MY JOHN, she is about 16.2 hands. She just appears smaller in this photo due to the fact that she is ‘peeking in at us’ while she poses and not standing as tall as she normally would. I really think it is a very cute picture and shows how sweet we are with each other. I enjoyed sharing MY JOHN with her!
You know photography…sometimes if you are the one in the front…you appear a bit ‘larger’ than the images, horses, or people in the back. I am taller than TASTY but not by as much as it appears in this particular photo. She is a very attractive and well-balanced horse in her own right.
Yes, MY JOHN did check my legs. I have figured it out now that he simply can’t resist the opportunity to do so when he is around ME. In reality, it is second nature to him… and I must say…I really enjoy it! It reminds me of the many special moments I spent with him. Now, though, it is TOO CUTE! He has added a new dimension to this ‘checking up on ME’…and that is touching my BABY BUMP! He gives ME (and BABY TOO) several adoring and loving ‘pats’ on the TUMMY!
What do you think JOHN….is MY FOAL a colt or a filly? Only time will tell!
It is so hard to believe that the time is flying by so quickly. My due date is in early March. TASTY and I are both due to foal then. It will be interesting to see how much ‘we grow’ during the next few months!
I’ll keep you posted!
Have a great day!
With Love,
Hugs to all~

Dear Zenny – thank you for answering all of our questions. If I had to guess I would say colt. I can’t wait to see the first pictures of you and the baby. I am sure the baby will be just as beautiful as you. Does Tasty know if she is having a colt or a filly? I can’t wait until early March!!! Love and Kisses beautiful girl and Baby B/Z.

Dear Zenny,
What gorgeous pictures from yesterday and todays posts. So glad Matt is doing a good job with your tail and the hormones are not getting to it. I have never seen a horse bite another’s tail. They ususally kick or bite at muscle. Your tail looks great today. A great TB tail.
Love your grazing. YOUR JOHN is such a wonderful equine photographer. Have a wonderful day, grazing on that great KY blue grass with TT. XXXXXOOOO

Dear Zenny,
I thought TT was 16.2. There are not many “girls” your height. Just love to ride those big TB, like riding a couch that has jet engines!!!! XXXXOOOO

Hello dear Zenyatta and team! You are definitely showing and looking very healthy. I’m wondering if it’s getting harder to move around. I’m rooting for a filly but any foal will be so very special. Love you Zen!

Guess I will have to put my request for due date of your foal too. My birthday is March 11th and it is going to be one of those BIG ones…for you and me! But I want you to have a nice easy birth of your first foal on the day you choose. That would be my birthday wish.

I just ordered my Breyer Zenyatta Christmas ornament also, sold out early last year for me too….

Just love the pic of you grazing-you continue to look absolutely gorgeous Zenyatta! You look fantastic and so healthy in foal. It is just so great that you live where you have optimum care and where you are happy and have the freedom to graze in peace and comfort. Life is treating you well and you deserve the best. You have given and continue to give of yourself and hopefully you will continue to live in luxury.
Each and every day thinking of you makes me smile and warms my heart. Thankyou Zenyatta! Sending my Love & Blessings to you

Hi Zen~Was just thinking that Zs My Mom would fit a boy or girl, don’cha think?? Have a great, wonderful day!

@Nancy–love the comments about horses’ tails. Our grandhorse has a lovely long tail, and he did not like the track. Just as well for us– we never would have had him otherwise.
@Hamilton– I haven’t weighed in on the names, but I love Zen Dancer too.
@Margaret– thanks for sharing your story. Do hope you are 100% soon.
Speaking of 501’s –our Equi-Army organization will reach that status soon, if not this week.
Also, little Autumn’s expenses are higher than they thought, as she has been hospitalized longer than they first thought. I know Horse and Man would appreciate donations, no matter how small.
@Lou Ann Cingel–you have been on my mind today. Praying for you.
@Alex Bowdoin and those who commented about the wolves. All of our animals are in danger, it seems. They may be mute, but they do speak to any who care to listen. Z–I’m so glad your team LISTENED to you!

About a month ago, I quoted several articles from Internet research that I thought were in the know. I WAS WRONG!!! Since I posted this information to this site, wanted to set the record straight.
1. Talked to the Chancellor of the Nebraska University at Omaha and those stories about students throwing scraps of food on Omaha’s gravesite are FALSE. The Chancellor not only answered my e-mail, but had an aide do some research on the subject. Urban Myth…story NOT true…
2. Omaha was NOT paraded around the Aksarben Race Track with kids on his back. The fellow who rode in a train car with Omaha across the country and took care of him everyday, which included trips to Aksarben, laughed when I asked him this question. He said they allowed NO ONE on Omaha, as I guess he could be pretty feisty.
OK, sorry I gave you bad information. Bad Dog!
Zenyatta, March 1st is a great date:)
Elaine
Mamma Z, you are as beautiful as ever. Your baby bump in gorgeous!
My sister gave Mario something for your tail when you were at Barn 55. It is called Cowboy Magic. It has helped her horses. You might want to tell Matt at Lane’s End about it.

All: Tis the season for charity and giving, so I’d like to invite all of you to the following link. Chase Community Giving has listed Heart of Tucson in its charity challenge. Heart of Tucson, as most will remember, is who rescued Dyna King (Barbaro’s “half brother”) and is caring for many other rescued OTTBs. No money needed to vote.

Dear Zen: Maybe Dottie can answer this question for you. Are you going to have Mare Cam up so we can watch your baby being born.
Ingrid Arnone. South Beach.
Hi, my precious and adorable Zenyatta you look beautiful in foal and your adorable friend Tasty she is so adorable, I cannot wait to see your babies, love you Ingrid.
@ Dear Judy B, I am glad you are well; I hope your Russ is getting better, hugs Ingrid.
Kendra
Dottie, do they have any sayings about the way a mare carries a foal, which are supposed to predict the birth of a colt or filly? Has anyone used the pencil pregnancy test on Zenyatta:) Zen, wishing you a healthy baby.
Elizabeth G.
We care so much for you, Zen. I am filled with joy to hear of your friendship with Tasty and the great love you both share. Soon your babies will get to play with each other.
