Dear Friends,
I sincerely hope each of you had a very peaceful and loving holiday. The time we spent at the farm visiting with everyone was wonderful. I am overwhelmed by all of your support, love, and warm wishes to myself and MY TEAM.
I will forever be grateful to each of you!
In life, things may often travel an unexpected path. Sometimes, the surprises are wonderful and joyful. Other times, no matter how hard you work and no matter how hard you try, the result is totally out of your control and not as positive as you would hope.
I’d personally like to thank each of you for the concern and love you have expressed for CLOUD MAN. He definitely ‘knows’ how you all feel and the many candles and prayers you honored him with yesterday.
Needless to say, it is a very sad time for MY TEAM. They loved him very, very much…and he will be greatly missed.
Your kindness and thoughtfulness, as always, is deeply appreciated and means so much to all of us!
With Love,
Hugs to ALL~(Special blessings…dear Cloud Man)

A lovely statement made by John Sherriffs of the TB, and Cloudman
from DRF link (thanks Abigail for posting)
“That’s the highs and lows of the game, unfortunately,” Shirreffs said. “They’re fragile, like ballerinas, and one bad step can be unforgiving.”

Jerry and Ann, John and Dottie, Mike and all of Cloud Man’s team, please accept our (my husband and my) -condolences. Cloud Man was magnificent and amazing, and we thank you so much for sharing him and your dreams for him with us. You all have made us (as fans) feel a part of your horse-racing family. Zenny’s posts have helped us personally through two family losses (our Dads) over the past few years. We wish our sadness for the loss of Cloud Man could help take away some of yours right now. Thank you for the gift you give us every day of sharing Zenny and also the amount of time and effort you give to us fans in so very many ways. You have blessed us so much. May God bless you all always, but especially during this difficult time.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Cloud Man. He was a fantastic colt and had so much talent. May he rest in peace and run forever free and happily in the Heavens up above. Sending my best wishes and condolences to everyone at Barn 55 and to Mr.& Mrs. Moss whom I know are extremely in sorrow at this time. Life takes turns that we just don’t understand and are never prepared for. May Cloud Man live on in the hearts of everyone and continue to bring smiles to our faces forever. Take care Zenyatta and let’s all thank God for what we have been given. Love & Blessings Always!
Jeanie

@ Signofthetimes: Thank you for sharing the link to the beautiful tribute by: Jody Lawrence.
In addition to the horses named in her tribute, we also lost Waltzing With Blue after he sustained an injury to his left front leg. My sincere condolences and heartfelt sympathy to all his connections as well.

So, so sorry about Cloud Man. Thank you for not letting him suffer any more than he had to. May all the GREATS greet Cloud Man with loving “hoofs” as they prance together in painless peace and happiness. RIP Cloud Man.

You have beautifully summed up the legacy of this diary. This wonderful place is a sanctuary of hope for all thoroughbreds and peace for the humans who love them. Zenyatta (Dottie) started a blog to keep all Z’s fans engaged after her racing days were over because we couldn’t bare the thought of losing her. She remains with us every day, Thank GOD, and through her blog comes fiendship, affection, power and ultimately, love. Zenyatta has many legacies; for racing, the incomparable glory of her career, for courage in the face of the impossible, for sheer beauty in life.
That she somehow managed to never be injured is a miracle given the way she ran; but John knows his business. Jerry Hollendorfer and Bob Baffert have had a terrible weekend too and to them, I offer my heartfealt sadness at their losses. These three men; Sherriffs, Baffert and Hollendorfer are the best trainers in this business. The horses injuries were unavoidable and I take the only comfort I can in knowing they were doing what they had been put on earth to do; run…and never stop. Thank GOD Cloud Man had Mike with him…and thank GOD Mike was unhurt.
We all share one important thing about all these happenings…we all care…and we all have sorrow and pray for such loss.

Mike pulled Cloudman up immediately (on video) when he “stepped wrong”.Luck of having a great jockey who know the correct fell.

Oh Zenny, my heart goes out to your barn 55 family and especially the Mosses on the loss of the wonderful Cloud Man. I am certain he will be missed. Thank goodness he was in such loving hands during his short life….and now he is running in the heavens, free of man and enjoying total freedon. At times like this I am so thankful you retired safe and sound. That in itself is a great blessing. I hope all of those who cared for and loved Cloud Man take comfort in knowing they always did the very best for him.
sue
Opps, I meant to say Cloud Man was free of pain not man. Lord knows the men who cared him were the BEST,

@ Nancy re: Gretchen Jackson. Actually, what she quoted was from George Bernard Shaw: “Grief is the price we pay for love.” Beautiful saying from that old Irish curmudgeon!

Dear Zenny and Team Z, such sad news. In times such as this, while challenging, I try to hold close the thought that we are better to have loved and lost, than not to have loved at all. A HIGH HOOF for Cloud Man for all he did and all he gave! RIP…

I am heartbroken for all of your family,Z,over the loss of Cloud Man!! Have been crying just reading about it.The grief you must all be feeling is incalculable.I was much helped,as I hope you will be,by all of the poetic and heartfelt postings about where he is now. It is good to think of him running free with other immortals of racing,as well as those less famous, like my horses, and all the others who’ve gone on ahead.I always say “they are at play,in the fields of the Lord”.
My sympathies, also,to the connections of the other horses who lost their lives this past weekend.
MLV’s sweet horse angel was surely busy welcoming them all home.
Was very sad to hear that an apprentice jockey was also lost. Does anyone know about where and how this happened??
Condolences to all who lost beloved pets this weekend. My George M. Red-dog passed away 6 years ago Nov. 22nd and I still miss him every day. It is wonderful to think about the Rainbow Bridge and the joyous reunions that await us there!!

Z I know that tree! I have a picture of you grazing with Mario from last Dec, with YOUR JOHN right there talking to Mario.
I don’t know anything about Cloud Man so I’ll wander off to Bloodhorse and read awhile.
