Dear Friends,
Today marks the end of another year! In my lifetime, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have several very wonderful years filled with the love, kindness and thoughtfulness of so many people.
December 31st can also be a day of great reflection. Often people review the year mentally …and the different paths that took place in their lives. For ME, this was definitely a year of CHANGE. My life and career went from one amazing stage to another…from being the very accomplished professional athlete that I was…to now becoming a broodmare. Hopefully, though, throughout all of these life changes for ME one thing has remained constant….that I have continued to be a TRUE FRIEND to ALL OF YOU….the wonderful people who have shared so many of these experiences with ME!
Additionally, 2011 will always mean a great deal to ME personally for another reason… thanks to ALL OF YOU, MY DEAR OWNERS, and MY DEVOTED FRIENDS AT BARN 55….I became the 2010 HORSE OF THE YEAR last January! I will always celebrate this moment and cherish it! In all sincerity, it did mean the world to ME to be recognized for ALL of my racing accomplishments with this honor. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU for your part in helping to make it possible!
I know many people are celebrating tonight and making their 2012 NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS! Mine are quite simple yet specific….I want to eat right, stay healthy, and become a terrific MOM! I also want to be a loving friend to ALL of YOU and a great role model and inspiration for MY SPORT! It is so special to be able to ‘give something back’. Each of these goals encompasses a very high level of importance to ME!
TASTY and I, TEAM ZENYATTA, BARN 55, and our LANE’S END pals, ALL want to wish EVERY ONE of you a GREAT 2012….blessed with lots of love, great health, happiness, and the joy of realizing your dreams and cherished special moments.
With Love,
Hugs to All~(HAPPY, HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL OF YOU!)

Oh, this is TOO CUTE! We also wanted to start the NEW YEAR with a HIGH HOOF to celebrate our BRAND NEW WEBSITE DESIGN. My dear ‘tech’ friends, TYLER and KYLE, are working on the final details of it at this moment! The site will be down for maintenance for some time on Sunday. Depending on your timezone, the new site will be online Sunday night or Monday morning. I must say, I think it is going to be ONE FUN and VERY EXCITING NEW YEAR!

Good evening, dear Zenny! Wow! What a difference in the site! It will take some adjusting to the bright background, but I love the archives access and the ability to reply directly to specific posts. I appreciate the work which went into re-organizing the site. I do not handle change very well, but it is a very nice look — I will adjust at my own pace. Thank you to your Team for the improvements. ( I do miss the dark background, though.)
Goodnight and sweet dreams!

Those of us in San Diego don’t get KTLA _ they have the absolute best coverage of the Rose Parade every year. I DVR’D it from NBC & ABC, NBC showed more of the horses/ equestrian groups, ABC had better coverage with more floats but “zip “equestrian participants . I’m so glad I went to Equestfest and saw many of the participating horses and riders, plus a great show. The City of Arcadia should showcase a float featuring thoroughbreds at the very least, the racetrack. Horses of all kinds are a great part of our heritage especially here in the West.. I think we have had some other posters mentioning that earlier on another day’s diary. City of Los Angeles yes, featuring the new carousel/zoo, etc. Great ideas. how to execute?
Rose Parade committee? Each city? Chamber of Commerce
and yes, I’m humbled to see the little “f” logo at the bottom. Thanks for pointing that out to me. Thanks Eveline and Karen. Stay warm and safe Momma to be and best friend Tasty T

Happy New Year to the Queen and her family (Team Z and all her fans). What a great ride it’s been – and is only going to get better. Z is coming down the stretch to becoming a mom, and excitement is building over Little Z’s arrival. And we’re well on the way to becoming 100,000 strong!!!
And they said it would never last…….HAH!!!!!

Good morning and you are so right, I sadly missed most of the Parade, but was able to see the Dale Evans float with all the riders & their horses. It was absolutely beautiful. With the extra day, I forgot. But I just know it was beautiful, and to have seen it in person as you did, THE WOW moment.
Why can’t the horseracing industry put up the money to support such an effort, as beautiful as these floats are they are also very expensive to create. But imagine to have a likeness all in flowers of our ‘Z’. And maybe have Arcadia school-kids(w. disigning backgrounds) draw designs for the float and banners. Just thinking.

oops: that should read ” designing backgrounds”

Love the website. So much information and love the idea of being able to view videos. 2012 is going to be very exciting. In a relatively short time Zenyatta and Tasty will deliver their foals. Any news on when the Zenyatta “plushies” will be available?
Barbara Wood (Texas)
OK–Good morning, dear Z. and Dumplings. It took me a day, but I’m beginning to get it! I was afraid the replies to the posts would disappear and show up only to the person replied to. I see now that such is not the case. It really is an improvement, in that we don’t have to jot down to remember what we have to say to everyone. We can just do it one at a time. Genius! THANK YOU so much, Team Techno-Z for doing that for us. I, too, laugh when I think of the naysayers who said it wouldn’t last. Now if I can just get used to the smaller print…..
LauraJ (Cincinnati OH)
Barbara, at the lower right-hand corner of your screen, there is a little icon that looks like a magnifying glass with a plus sign on it. There’s a numerical percentage next to it, and a little arrow next to that. Click on the arrow. A menu will appear. If you click on a higher percentage–say, 125% or 150%–it will zoom in and give you a closer view. The type will appear larger. Try it. It should help.
You can also use the view–>zoom on the toolbar at the top of your screen to do the same thing.

ohmygosh! this is now like OUR website, where you can comment directly under one person’s message! Good luck, Zenyatta-Dottie, with this new way of being with you! Thank you very much!
Barbara Grimaldi/Skip & Juliet/NJ
I looked at the time marker on my previous message and thought I should still be in bed!!! Dottie has it set at Pacific time, while ours is set at Eastern time.

One small comment about the new website: the white is a bit blinding! Perhaps you can tone it down to ivory or a light tint of something? The combination of the small type and the glaring white is a bit hard for my eyes. Not a criticism–you asked for suggestions and that is mine.
Dear Zenny: it is 12 degrees here in norther NJ–hope it’s a bit better down in KY!!! Stay warm, dearest Zenny–I love you so.
Annie
Happy new year, dear Zenyatta !

Zenyatta, I must admit that I spent the year of 2011 learning a lot about you and about horses in general. You are right about your owners, trainers, and many other people caring a lot about you and about each other. The year was a roaring success as far as that goes. We now start fresh. You will be a new mom starting in March. I guess even a great horse like you has room to get even greater such as basically continuing to do what you’ve been doing such as eating properly, resting properly, resolving to be a great mother, and more. You will succeed. I guarantee it. That is your New Year’s resolution.
