Good Morning,
I think it is so special that ALL of you wanted to wish US a HAPPY BIRTHDAY on January 1st! TASTY and I were so busy…..we literally forgot to send wishes to each other! So, we took some time this morning to do that. As many of you already know, thoroughbred race horses have two birthdays… the actual one stating the day he or she was born that is recorded on his/her Jockey Club Papers….and then the ‘technical’ one which has ALL thoroughbreds celebrating a birthday and becoming one year older on January 1st of each year.
Thus, I am ‘technically’ 8 for industry purposes…..but I am still 7 per my real birthdate of April 1st. I must say, I do feel I look terrific, have maintained my glowing coat no matter what the weather conditions, and my body is still quite ‘fit’ and handling this ‘baby weight’ very well! Blush, Blush!
TASTY was born on March 26, 2006….so she turned 6 on the 1st. If our foals are cooperative, and are born ‘on time’…(they say first foals can be rather independent and do their own thing, so we’ll see)…then TASTY and I will both be MOMS before our actual birth dates.
In reading the DIARY comments, you are ALL becoming VERY ASTUTE at what is going on with our ‘in foal status’ and the foaling process. I was commenting to TASTY this morning that we are 2 very fortunate horses. Our foals are going to have about 180,000 feet pacing about in different communities around the country when we get ready to have our babies…and about 95,000 plus NANNIES!
LUCKY US!
On another note, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to each of you who may have celebrated a birthday over the holiday! Also, in reading the comments, I’m so happy to hear that so many of you who have had some health concerns or been dealing with them with members of your family are ‘doing better’. ALL BLESSINGS to you and your families!
Have a terrific day! Don’t forget….RAPID REDUX is entered today at Laurel in their 6th race…going for #22. I’m sending him a big HIGH HOOF and wishing him the best!
With Love,
Hugs to All~

Dear Zenny, I have not posted in awhile, due to illness. I have been quite ill with a bad case of pneumonia. I must say, after seeing the beautiful picture of you & Tasty today, it really boosted my spirits. You are looking so great, & I can’t wait to see this fantastic baby of yours, maybe I can be its “grandmother”. Mary, I am older than you, & con
sider you just a “spring chicken”, compared to me, Happy Birthday!
Sierra, I am truly sorry for your loss of Spike. I know where you’re coming from, & it is a most difficult situation to go thru.
Terry Crow, How did you know that I needed your redneck jokes so badly today—Thank you.
Goodnight Zen, Tasty, Dottie, John & all the Z connections
Barbara Wood (Texas)
Lil, I know how hard pneumonia can hit. In ’04 I got it right before Christmas, and the dr. threatened me within an inch of my life to stay out of the kitchen. We had leftovers that year! Within a week, though, I was well enough to hop a plane for the Rose Parade.
Wouldn’t have missed that for anything. Hope you are 100% soon.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
Dear Lil—Thanks for taking the time to check in here. We’re sending you best wishes for robust health soon!
Terry Crow
Lil-If these silly jokes brought a smile to your face that is my reward. It is for people like you that I continue to persevere.

praying you feel better really soon. hugs <3

What a great picture of the two girls!! Zenny is just such a towering presence when she stands next to other horses. She is so majestic. But Tasty is a pretty girl herself. I am so glad they have each other. I would never want to see her without friends. Congrats to Rapid Redux and his connections!! Amazing, 22 races won!! Plus, they are giving him a special Eclipse Award per Bloodhorse. I am so happy they are honoring him in this way. Please consider voting for him for the Vox Populi Award on the Secretariat site. Thank you Dottie/Sarah? for the beautiful picture of the girls.
Kelly J. /ND
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you and Tasty! Good luck with your foals, you guys will be great moms.

Dear Terry Crow;
Your jokes were so very funny today, as always; love the Texas one.
Thanks for bringing great laughter to this site; lets see Zenny in a cheeze
hat again !!!!!

My oh my sweet Z, this picture of you & Tasty is absolutely gorgeous. You look so strong and healthy. I just love you! Happy Birthday to our big mama. At first I forgot knowing your real birthday is April 1. I will be especially pacing as supposedly I will be in Fla. in March with out my computer! I hope a library will be fairly close, and I will be calling my friend so she can keep me posted. This will be my only regret, that I will not be able to keep in touch every day. You will be in my prayers wherever I may be. If Lane’s End needs any back-up help, whether cleaning your stall, fluffing up your clean hay, singing a lullaby, I will drop whatever I am doing and be there!! Can you imagine how many prayers God will hear for you; simply thousands.
love you, 2 kisses on your soft nose, one for baby z
Sally B. (cherish Z- Wi.)
@Terry Crow, did you see my yesterdays comment? ha
Terry Crow
I did. My post mentioned your incident. The bad thing was that Sally B appears to be a bigger redneck than you. Perhaps you could close the gap by having manure on the bottom of the passenger side in your car.

Hi Queen, I can’t believe how wonderful your new website is. Some people worked
very hard and I would like to personally thank them. All the photos bring back memories
of your racing days….I can’t wait to see the BABY PHOTO ALBUM!!!
Donna Alsabrook
Ms. Z…….I hope you have a filly just like you and I hope I live long enough to see her race. No matter what, there will never be another you. I love you. I wish I could meet you. That is the only thing on my “Bucket List”.
Memento Vivere
Zenny I’m glad y’all are doing well :) and I can’t wait till y’alls babies are born!!!
Jane (southern California)
That’s right Zenyatta….anytime you need a baby sitter, just call!
;-) And there will be LOTS of people on pins and needles when your due date gets close! I hope Lane’s End video tapes the birth so we can see your little one when he/she is born!
You and Tasty are looking GREAT! I’m so glad you have a good friend to keep you company! I bet your’s and Tasty’s babies will be best of friends too! Can’t wait to see them running around playing together! Too cute!
Have a wonderful day Zenyatta and baby “Z”! xoxoxo

Hi Zenny–I’ve been thinking that since we can’t have a baby shower for you, we should all (when the foal is born) donate to a favorite horse charity in YOUR name. I do that a lot in my donations anyway. If there is a person on the planet who has not heard of YOU, that might get you those extra 5,000 FB friends. Good night, sweet one. Love you always.

Love the new look. Love You Zenny and Tasty, looking fab as usual. You both are so blessed to have loving people watching over you and taking care to make sure your babies are foaled under the best circumstances. I read on a post on this site about a little foal named Autumn and her experience was less than ideal. Her mama died giving birth. Hope for Horses took Autumn and she has made great progress. Go to their site and check her out. They also entered a video contest on horseshow.com to try to win 5,000 dollars and the first 5,000 votes win. It is free to join and it would be great if many of you wonderful fans of Zenny could help out the voting. It is the smallest things that make the greatest impact.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
Dear Janet—I went to the Horse Show site, registered, then scrolled down and clicked on “The Coolest Horse” link, found “The Story of Autumn’s Hope,” and voted for her. I see you can vote up to five times. There are other touching stories of rescued slaughter-bound horses too. I’ll return to the site tomorrow to read more and vote again. Thanks for the heads up! http://www.horseshow.com

Thank you for mentioning Autumn. She is a doll, and we’re keeping an eye on her. Our Georgia H. is doing volunteer work up there.

Hi Guys! I’ve been reading for well over a year but never posted before. It’s so awesome to see Tasty has become your BFF, Zenny. I’m from Toronto and watched her run many a time at Woodbine :) You both look gorgeous and like everyone else, I can’t wait to see the babies! My birthday is March 12th so if either of you felt like giving me a bday present, I would love it *hint hint* ;)
Love and hugs from Canada, Wiggy

What a wonderful day, Zenny! I went to the L.A. Zoo today with my sister and some friends. Of course, our first stop was the new carousel … and we took turns riding YOU! I posted some photos on your FB page. I have to admit I planted a kiss on “your” nose after my ride. :)
Please tell Ann and Jerry that people are certainly enjoying the carousel. I saw lots of smiling children riding the praying mantis, unicorn, eagle and even Giacomo!
I also posted a photo of the jockey cap pendant I bought from Patti Campisi on Opening Day of Santa Anita if anyone is interested in seeing it. I had to wear it (and my Zenyatta name plate bracelet) today, of course!
You and Tasty look BEAUTIFUL in today’s photo. I wonder which one of you will become a mom first? Maybe you should make a little bet with each other: loser has to buy the winner a big bunch of carrots!

Happy belated birthdays to our Queen Zenyatta and her Lady in Waiting Tasty Temptation. You both look radiant. Can’t wait for the little ones to arrive.
Congratulations to Rapid Redux and his Team on his 22nd straight win. How deserving for him to receive the Special Eclipse Award for his tremendous accomplishment. Many more safe trips to the winner’s circle RR.
The new webpage is awesome.
Wishing everyone a happy and healthy 2012.

@Wiggly…welcome!! March 12th is a fine date..but I have to tell you that JAG called March 9th many months ago, and I am crossing fingers for March 8th….:)) Keep posting!
sweet dreams everyone xoxo

Some one also mention St. Patty’s day, March 23, 2011; maiden mares don’t usually come early (although, Zenny may be able to keep herself “on schedule”); Her daddy is providing her with the Luck of the Irish.

Happy Racehorse Birthday Your Highness, Tasty, and PQ! I hope your holidays were special and you girls got exactly what you wanted from ‘Santa Paws’! Blessings for the new year to all! I watched Tasty run in a few races at Woodbine (made a few bucks on her, too!), not bad, not bad at all! Yep, there will definitely be quite a few pacing feet and hooves, when delivery date arrives. I think this is one baby that Bernie’s gonna pass out cigars for, and AP is probably gonna be doing play by play on his Blackberry! I can just imagine him bragging to his buds and telling them all to stop by and see his new grand-foal! Knowing Bernie, he’ll probably take out a full page ad on his fb page and on the farm’s website, and he’ll most definitely put on a new baby album just for this little one! Slew and Big Red will definitely be high-hooving each other, and Great-Uncle Swale and Great-Aunts Landaluce and Lady’s Secret will be singing lullabies for the precious prince/princess. Your dad ‘Street Cry’ will be whipping away proud tears, just knowing his ‘special baby girl’, has a baby of her own! Lady V with her special quiet smile, will wink at you and tell your new siblings about the birth of new royalty in the family. Your horsey siblings, the dumplings, your human family and the world over will mark and remember this special occasion, the day the Queen brought her foal into the world! And you and Tasty will be checking hooves, knees and ears, making sure everything is healthy and strong! And the news reporters world-wide will announce ‘the day the Queen gave birth to her foal’!

valeria – What a marvelous word-picture you painted! great visuals! can just picture old A.P happily on his blackberry……as Z would say, “TOO CUTE!”

I love it…’word picture’! Perfect description. We already know the that Rachel is having a ‘little prince’ so I’m hoping Z has a filly. Won’t that be fun! And Tasty is just so beautiful; I sort of see her with a filly. We’ll find out soon enough!

Zenyatta andTasty – You both are gorgeous in this photo, but isn’t that always the case? It is very summer like here in So. Cal. I hope you and TT are keeping warm. I saw the temperature where you are is anything BUT summer like.
@Trina – haven’t seen one of your poems lately or maybe I missed it.
Trina Nagele in So Cal
Dear Rosemary— December brought poems for Barbara Wood (December 2), Dawn Conrad (December 7), Adrianna (daughter of Kim S–December 9), Victoria (granddaughter of Brenda S in Fort Erie Canada—December 13), Kim S (December 15), Abigail in Montreal (a poem promising a future poem, Dec 18), Celeste in TX (December 18), Dallas in TX (December 20), Sherry Drish (December 28), and Maryann Lane (Dec 29). So far this month, there have been poems for Holly Zemba (birthday Jan 1, but Holly didn’t mentioned it until Jan. 4) and another “poem promising a poem” for Gary Moulton on January 3. Coming right up is a poem for today’s birthday girl, Mary. BTW, is your birthday coming soon?
Rosemary McCauley - So. Cal.
@Trina – I will take a look at the ones I missed. I am impressed by the way you put the words together. No, my birthday isn’t coming up, it’s in April.

The photo of the two of you is just stunning. Looking at it , it sure looks like Tasty is so much smaller than our Z but it could be the angle too. So glad she is in with Tasty as I do like my greys and they are such a good match for one another.
signofthetimes
Tasty is 16.2 hands; not sure if Zenny is 17 or 17.2 hands, have seen both; almost one hand larger can make a big difference. Also a larger mare can look less pregnant than a smaller one; just like humans; smaller women look larger pregnant that larger women and they both have the same size babyies.

Good luck and a safe trip to the Mosses’ FORDHAM ROAD running today, Thursday, at SA in Race 3 for our John, with our Mikie up! Post time 2:03 pm PST.
